"Is it going to show us our fight this time?" To say Nora was peeved that they got robbed of their fight last episode wouldn't be doing her annoyance justice.
Raider was about to answer, but just seeing Nora move around in her seat impatiently, it was honestly just best to start.
Without further ado, Raider began the next episode, much to Nora's pleasure. No one else really got to put their two cents in, but they didn't mind.
(Volume 3 Intro)
Beginning where the previous episode left off, Professor Port counted down from 3, the numbers going along with him on the surrounding screens.
"Yeah!" No one needed to look over to know it was Nora excitedly screaming.
The moment Professor Port told them to begin, all of Team Jnpr ran forward, but only of Team Brnz did the same. May immediately hightailed it to the forest area, loading her gun.
All three of the boys smirked. Brawnz went up against Pyrrha, kicking her back with his knee. While Pyrrha deflected that he attempted to use his weapon, but it was stopped as Pyrrha stuck Milo in between, using the moment of pause to push him back.
"Go Pyrrha!"
"Break his legs!"
Judging by all the shouts, this fight would be a lot more vocal. Not necessarily words, but more of ecstatic shouting.
With May, she placed herself in a tree, watching as Nora swung Magnhild at Nolan. Her weapon now a sniper, she used the high ground to shoot at Ren. He avoided the bullet, resulting in May breaking a rock behind him, grabbing his attention.
Jaune was fending off the last of the men, Roy, obstructing off each blow from the boy. Jaune was the first to notice May in trees at her attempt to shoot him, seeing her causes him to yell for all of them to retreat.
Following his command they all begin to fall back, being shot at whilst doing so. All of them hide behind the rocks and Pyrrha asks what they're going to do. Looking past the rocks, the three boys are coming fast, and in a haste Jaune tells everyone to spread out and try to keep moving.
Jaune right now was hoping he could come up with a better plan than this because it sure couldn't go on forever.
Brawnz fist came crashing down on Jaune's shield. With May she hopped onto a higher branch, humming as she zoned on a specific person. Ren slid in front of Nolan, who paused and gave a nod to May, signaling her to take the shot.
"Ren! Look out!" Nora impulsively yelled, in the moment not realizing that this was all happening on a screen.
"Nora, I'm fine, I'm right here," Ren turned to reassure the girl. Upon seeing this, Nora simply laughed it off, chuckling like it was a silly mistake.
Firing at his feet directed Ren's attention elsewhere, Nolan took this chance and whacked Ren in the head, making him stumble. Ren attempted to futilely kick him, but failed, leading a taser to be stabbed into his chest.
Nora called out to her partner as he fell, rushing forward she swung Magnhild. Nolan dodged it and did the same thing to Nora.
The room sighed, except for Sun who didn't know what her semblance was. The poor boy doesn't have a clue for the pain he's about to bring upon himself the longer Nora collects the electricity.
"Oho, looks like one of my favorite students, Nora Valkyrie, is charging up to use her semblance," Professor Port announced on the screen, thus making Nolan confused as he heard this.
It's payback time…Nora evilly rubbed her hands together, waiting.
"Yes, Ms. Valkyrie's semblance lets her produce, as well as channel, electrical energy straight to her muscles. This allows her to jump explosively into the air, wield her mighty hammer, or in this case, absorb Nolan's attack, and send young men flying," Dr. Oobleck explains nonchalantly.
The audience didn't know whether to laugh or deadpan that Nolan is still tasing Nora, just making her that much stronger and powerful. It was about 50/50 in both cases.
Nolan shouts in astonishment as Nora raises both of her arms, the electricity coursing through her. Nolan brings up his hands in defeat, but Nora shows him no mercy; the boy's body goes soaring, his back smashing and crumbling a large boulder.
Dark clouds form about the rocky mountains and Jaune takes note of this, "Nora! Get to the mountain!" At his word Nora solutes and zooms off, "Ren, try and distract the sniper."
Ren's shoulders slump, his voice sarcastic, "Sure, why not."
Jaune nods his head, his other self finally getting somewhere.
Nora jumps off the rocks and up the mountain, Jaune and Pyrrha charge. Roy tosses his weapons, both of them bouncing off Jaune's shield and back to him. Roy repeatedly smashes his forearms against Akouo. Next to them Jaune shakes his head back to reality
In the stands the girls cheer for the four. Ruby yelling for Jaune, Weiss commenting on how Jaune has significantly improved.
Jaune slightly swelled at Weiss's praise, with butterflies thrumming in his chest. But, he shook it off, he needed to keep a level head, now wasn't the time for that.
"Yeah, but he ain't got nothing on Pyrrha," As Yang spoke, Pyrrha was holding her own really well against both Roy and Brawnz. With Ren, he dodged each bullet shot at him as he got closer and closer towards May.
Sliding under Pyrrha, Ren shot at Roy before slicing at him, holding his weapon against StormFlower. Turning Roy around, Ren had the boy in a headlock with the two weapons, this causing May to redirect.
Ren yells Nora's name as May takes aim at her. While Nora is still climbing, Jaune yells "Pyrrha, up!" Dodging flying saws, Pyrrha propels herself off Jaune's shield, taking the shot that was meant for Nora.
At the top of the mountain, Nora collects all the energy, changing Magnhild to its revolver form. May looks up, slack jawed as rockets come flying at her, the shape in the form of a heart.
The forest area was now destroyed, smoking as Nora's grenades ruined it, but even through all that, May made it out in time and was standing on a different branch, coughing from all the smoke.
"Noooo!" Nora shouted, disappointed that she didn't take down the sniper.
"Hey, look on the bright side, now she has to come out of hiding and join the rest of her team down below," Ruby tried to voice some of the positives, hoping to cheer up her friend.
May could just jump into a different tree area but they figured that's not what's going to happen next.
All three boys turn around to see Nora, coming in fast as Magnhild is raised above her head. All the boys are blown away as Nora smashes the ground, sending the three next to May.
"This is it guys, let's finish them with team attacks! Ren, Nora, Flower Power!" Jaune shouts as an opening is given to them while the four are vulnerable.
"What?"
"Huh?"
Both Ren and Nora looked at Jaune, confused. Jaune was in the process of coming up with team attacks before they were taken, but now he was kinda starting to rethink them if this is where the whole idea is heading.
"It's your team attack name, Ren brings the Flower and Nora brings the Power," Jaune sits and explains his thinking for the name.
"How do I bring a flower?" This wasn't making any more sense to Ren.
Ha, this is two scenes in one, Raider gives a laugh as she looks at the two in amusement.
"Not a flower, flour, like in baking," Nora clarifies.
"Why would I bring that?" Ren was only getting more confused by the minute. A flower? Flour?
"Would you guys want to keep going, cause I got a feeling this is going to go on forever," Weiss looks at the three with a deadpan. Jaune was the first to nod, really wanting to get out of this mess.
Oh, they are gonna crack that they just reenacted this scene.
"Wait, what?" Jaune turns around as he hears Nora's confusion.
"F-FlowerPower," This just got a shrug from Ren, "That's your team attack name."
"Oh my Oum, no!" Jaune yelled, putting his face in his hands. It's just the same thing from a minute ago!
Ren asks since when they decided this. "Guys, we went over this! FlowerPower is Ren and Nora. Ren brings the Flower, Nora brings the Power."
Jaune was just sitting in his seat, shaking his head with his face covered. Pyrrha sat next to him, rubbing his back with a comforting smile, telling him it was alright.
Down in the lower level, Ruby and Yang were trying to conceal their laughter because they found the whole situation hilarious.
Ren scratches the back of his head, wondering on how to bring a flower, but Nora tells him that Jaune means the baking flour, though this only raises more questions to Ren. "W-what, eh, no, it's your symbol," Jaune attempts to clarify. Pyrrha joined in asking the questions, asking Jaune what they are. Of course, Jaune got upset and Pyrrha apologized, she just wanted to make sure everything was clearly defined.
"Pyrrha, you and I are Arkos," While Jaune spoke, Team Brnz stood in ready positions before relaxing dumbfounded. "It's the thing where we take our shields, remember?" When Pyrrha said the name, it was obvious she wasn't following. "Yeah, it's our names put together." Pyrrha slowly nodded her head, awkwardly telling him she got it. "What, do you not like it?"
Yang and Ruby weren't hiding it anymore and Jaune was dying of embarrassment right now. They're in the middle of a fight and he's worried about power names.
"Someone please just kill me now…" Jaune's voice was muffled as he didn't want to look at the screen. Someone can just tell him when this is all over.
"No, no, it's…good?" Pyrrha's response came out more like a question than anything, and Nora caught on to it, teasingly whispering how she sensed hesitation.
Brawnz, having had enough, finally yelled to get their attention. "Hey!" When he yelled, all of Team Jnpr turned their heads. "What do you think you're doing?"
"Trying to have a team meeting, thank you very little!" Jaune yells, oblivious they're still in a fight. Nora adds that only team members are allowed.
Brawnz looks at his team, "We're in the middle of a fight!" Jaune immediately restarts that they're in the middle of a conversation, not understanding what Brawnz doesn't get about that.
"Ha!" All of the bottom row, and Sun, were now laughing at this point.
"Um, Jaune?" The boy turned to Pyrrha, wondering what it is she needed, "I think that he means we're all in the middle of a fight." Realization just now dawning on him as Jaune looks around to hear the crowds cheering and shouting.
"Someone please just put both of us out of our misery…." Jaune moaned, honestly wanting to cry at this very moment.
"Nora, just…hit 'em with the hammer," Jaune sighed, just done with this whole thing. Smiling evilly, Nora was glad to do so.
Nora and Yang rubbed their hands together, a disturbing grin taking place. Oh, this is gonna be fun.
"Wait, what?!" This was the last thing Brawnz shouted as Nora jumped in the air, landing in front of them, and smashing them against the wall.
"Wooooo! We won!" Nora jumped in the air, bouncing on the seat. That was not the way they thought the match was going to go, but it was entertaining to watch anyway.
After a few minutes Nora finally calmed down and sat back in her seat, much to the relief of Ren.
"And with that it appears Team Jnpr wins by knockout! Literally, can someone go make sure they're okay." Professor Port announces then asking for someone to go check on them.
"I would not want to be them. Just imagine all that power," Sun says, feeling bad for them as they must be going through an immense amount of pain.
"Hopefully their aura took the brunt of it," Weiss whispers, worried for their wellbeing.
Somewhere in Vale, is a place called Crow Bar.
Oh, Yang and Ruby already knew who they were going to see. They loved their uncle, but they couldn't help but shake their heads; the place he was being shown at was none other than a bar.
Sitting on a stool, taking a sip from a glass was uncle Qrow, eyeing the tv that shows Team Jnpr's victory. "Huh, those kids weren't half bad," The bartender comments, cleaning one of the glasses. Qrow didn't care, simply grunting.
On the Vytal Festival updates, Dr. Oobleck began talking about the recent fight. "Ah, well, Vacuo fans are sure to be hurting after that one, but this next round will have them on the edge of their seats."
Professor Port takes over, "Team NDGO of Shade is certainly a crowd favorite but these lovely ladies are going up against some of the toughest, testosterone filled teammates we've seen so far. I'm of course talking about Team SSSN!"
"Alright!" Sun shouts, happy to finally see himself get some screen time, as well as excited to see how he and his team does.
In the stands, women hold up pictures of Scarlet, Sage, and Neptune, each of them having hearts around them. A fourth girl raises her sign, that one having a large heart around Sun's chest.
A good portion of the room really didn't know how to feel from seeing this. Weiss found it weird that stuff like this was being shown on live TV.
"Okay, I get fangirling, but the one about Sun is… not okay," Blake paused, trying to think of a good word.
"Sun Wukong and his team are certainly a force to be reckoned with, and although he'll be representing the Mistral Academy of Haven, I'm sure his friends and family back in Vacuo will be cheering him along." Sun and his team wave to the crowd as Professor Port finishes.
In the stands, Weiss only shouts for Neptune, wishing him good luck.
Weiss wasn't going to say anything, figuring Neptune was going to say something that made her counterpart want to take it back. So, she sat, waiting for that one moment to come.
Neptune looks at the competition and smiles suavely, "Ladies."
Yep, there it was.
"Ugh, Neptune." Sun loved the guy, but he could sometimes be…much.
Weiss, seeing this, clenches her face, yelling NDGO to break his stupid face.
"Ha, you jealous ice queen?" Yang asks in a teasing voice.
"No, I have nothing to be jealous about," Weiss answers just as quickly, honestly feeling nothing. Maybe at a different time she would have, but she doesn't feel any kind of jealousy.
Must have been from expectancy, the girl tells herself.
"Alright girls, try to remember, hands above the waist," Neptune advises them with a cocky smile.
Sun puts a hand on Neptune's shoulder, "Ignore him, for he…yeah he's dumb." Neptune gives them a wink, and the girls couldn't care less.
"Real ladies man, isn't he?" Yang asks Sun with a smirk.
"Like I said, he's dumb." The two said nothing more and left it at that.
The screens roll, stopping on desert mountains. "Alright, homefield advantage!" Nebula shouts as she looks behind her. Sun reminds them not to get too cocky as that's his turf as well.
Scarlet mutters that he hopes he doesn't get sand in his shoes, Neptune leans over, whispering for him to be cool. A member of Team NDGO yells excitedly as the other half of the field is the ocean.
"Oh no…" Sun mumbles.
As the screen lands on the ocean, Neptune's pupils shrink in horror as it goes back and forth between him and the screen.
"I'm gonna guess he's not a big fan of water then," Sun shakes his head towards Yang with a wince.
Ruby innocently asks what's wrong with Neptune, and Blake, knowing what, groans with a palm on her forehead. Neptune stands rigid as the other half of the terrain appears. "Neptune's…afraid of the water," Blake says, explaining his behavior.
"Well if that isn't the most unluckiest thing," Pyrrha states, feeling bad for the boy.
Oum, and Raider, only knows how this match is going to play out.
The moment Dr. Oobleck begins the match Neptune dashes all the way to the top of the mountain, as far away from the water as possible.
Dang, he ran fast… Ruby's eyes were wide. Neptune ran faster than Ruby's semblance could carry her.
"Neptune! What are you doing?!" Sage yells in outrage.
"Oh, y'know, just, uh, gaining higher ground!" Neptune shouts from above.
"On the enemy's side?!" Sun retaliates.
"They would never expect it!" Neptune shouts, waving them off.
Sun just facepalms, so this is how the match is going to go.
Dew agrees with him, saying that he isn't wrong.
This response got a couple of snorts from the people in the room.
Nebula yells for the girls to open fire as they all charge towards Neptune. Sun and the rest of the team quickly follow.
Scarlet attempts to slice Octavia, but the girl easily slides under him, using the sand for help. Sage stands before Dew, the two of them swinging their weapons, but the impact from both pushes each other back. Dew, using her scepter, creates multiple small dust tornadoes; all three combine into one that brings Sage into the air, sending him flying to the edge of the field.
"And NDGO gains the advantage," Dr. Oobleck states as Sage looks up at the aura board.
"Go Team SSSN!" Sun yells, hoping to motivate his future team even as one of his teammates were just taken out.
Octavia lands in front of Scarlet and Sun, ready for a fight. Both the two boys match her energy as they face towards her. Octavia then releases energy that blows sand into their eyes.
Sun, being able to escape, calls for Neptune. Answering the call Neptune jumps down from the mountain, and Octavia uses the same tactic but it doesn't work as Neptune blocks out the sand with his goggles.
Octavia deflects Neptune's blast with her sword, giving Sun the perfect opportunity to attack.
All in the room winced as they saw Octavia's reaction to the kick and the sound which just so happened to be a crack.
In retaliation Octavia went to slash Sun, but the Faunus not only diverted the attack, he whacked her on the shoulder, knee, and stomach, depleting her of her aura until elimination as by the loud ring.
"Yeah!" Pumping both fists in the air Sun yelled out in victory. The students were having high hopes, but they weren't going to let them get too high.
"Oooh, and we're down to three on three," Professor Port declares as Sun looks at Neptune fighting off both Nebula and Gwen while Scarlet fends off Dew.
Scarlet was caught in Dew's sandstorms as he was flung through the air to the other side of the terrain. Both Gwen and Nebula followed as Scarlet was righting himself on a ship beam.
Nebula fired an arrow that she used to bound herself onto the same beam as the boy, and using her bow, now sword, both her and Scarlet sword fight one on one with each other.
"Ooooh, they look just like pirates!" Ruby squealed with eyes full of wonder.
Scarlet was backed into a corner as Nebula pressed her weapon down harder, though he was able to get out of it, resulting in Nebula falling into the water. Looking over, Dew created a large tornado that encircled Sun, who was standing on a lone island, and Gwen wasn't far off, throwing her weapons.
Scarlet smiles, bringing out his revolver, the bottom of it giving a small shimmer. Released from the bottom was a grappling hook that latched on Gwen's foot, bringing her into the air as Scarlet came down.
In the air, Gwen pushed down her skirt, and with no hands to catch, her weapons fell, barely missing Scarlet.
Seeing the past two fights, it was fun to see they still incorporated the little funny moments here and there. For this fight, they were small and for Team Jnpr's fight it was the argument about team attack names.
Knowing how depressing the intro is and heeding Raider's words, the group was going to guess they were trying to add as many comical moments as they could before everything gets all serious.
It was like a small distraction from all the chaos that will likely ensue later in the volume.
Dew joined Sun on the same island, smirking, and Sun looked worried before noticing the coconuts in the trees. Hitting the tree, two coconuts fell into Sun's palms and the man threw both of them, but Dew sent them back harder with her scepter.
Both encased themselves in flames. With quick reflexes Sun avoided both of them, but Scarlet wasn't so lucky as one slammed into his face and…the other.
"Oh, that's gotta hurt," As Yang said this, the boys in the room had an urge to cover themselves as if it happened to them.
"On one hand, I feel real bad for the guy, but on the other…" Raider trailed off, a smile making its way onto her face.
"Well aren't you sadistic," Weiss mumbles.
"Just a little bit, what's your point?"
As Scarlet fell to the same, his aura level slowly decreased behind him. "Ah, nuts," Sun sighed as he looked back.
Looking back at Dew, the girl smirked as she made more twisters Sun's way. "Uh, Neptune, could use some help buddy!" Sun shouts as he does his best to avoid getting blown away.
"We've only seen Neptune twice in this battle!" Yang yells, hoping he would gain the balls to come and help his friend.
"Uh, y'know, it would probably be better if you came over here! Yeah, I can guard this sector, we're in lockdown mode!" Neptune shouts from the other side.
"There's nothing to lockdown!" Sun yells in disbelief. When Sun gets back, he's gonna make sure this never happens during the match.
"What're you talking about, there's nothing to lockdown!" Sun cries. Neptune just repeats what he said, telling Sun he's got the plan.
From one of the ships, Gwen and Nebula jump towards Sun. The boy himself narrowly avoids Dew as her scepter stabs where he once was. "I know you're afraid of water but-" Sun was abruptly cut off as Neptune blasted Dew into the water as she was about to come down on Sun.
"There, I helped, are you happy now?! Also I am not afraid of water and I have no idea what you are talking about!" Neptune retorts, denying Sun's accusations.
Sun is seriously making sure this isn't going to happen during the Vytal Festival.
"He would have been a lot happier if you'd helped throughout the entire fight!" Weiss yells indignantly at the screen.
Gwen, Dew, and Nebula group up in water, glaring at the boys. "Neptune!" Sun has finally had enough, and so has Neptune as he tells Sun to get out of the water.
Sun jumps to Neptune's side, and the boy, terrified, tiptoes to the water, placing his weapon in it, electrocuting the girls, ending the match.
The room was silent before Sun burst into cheers, "Wooooooo!"
Again, not how they were expecting the fight to go, but it was entertaining to watch.
"I wish I could tell the guys this but they'd probably think I was insane!"
Sun and Neptune chest bump each other as Professor Port declares that Team SSSN will move on to the doubles round. Sun and Neptune celebrate their victory with goofy dances. "You know what I call that victory?" Professor Port turns to ask Dr. Oobleck.
"Shocking?"
"Ayyy!" Yang points her fingers at the screen, not caring if the joke was intentional or not but she loved it.
"No, well earned. What you said was stupid," Dr. Oobleck slowly turns his head in sadness to Professor Port's response.
"Hey! It wasn't stupid, it was funny!" Of course, many of the people in the room didn't exactly agree.
"At least Raider found it funny!" Yang says, pointing to the floating girl.
"It was a stupid funny, I was also laughing at how harshly Professor Port put Dr. Oobleck down."
"Still counts!" Yang retorts.
At Crow Bar, the bartender gives a whistle, commenting on how that fight was a match. Qrow gives a scoff, "That was a mess."
"He's not wrong," Blake says, voice telling them she was joking.
"Come on Blakey, you gotta admit it was amusing," Sun joins.
She gave him no response, which only made his playful pout deepen.
"Come on man, you didn't like them, the Vale kids? Or any other rounds before that? What fight are you here for?" The bartender questions. At that moment, an airship flies behind them, looking to land.
"That one." Finishing his drink, Qrow stands, albeit hazy, and slams the glass on the bartop, "Happy Vytal Festival!" Tipsy, Qrow throws some lien down, stumbling out of the bar.
"Well he looks like fun," Weiss mumbles, not liking the guy's angle.
As the bartender puts down the bigger glass to pick up the small one his hands bumps the larger one, causing it to fall to the ground and break. "Aww, gee-darnit."
Back at Amity Colosseum, Ruby sighs heavily, leaning back in her seat, commenting on how the battle was too close.
"Imagine how the other me felt. Both teammates down and left in a corner while your best bud wasn't going to get anywhere near the actual fight."
"Looks like the dorks made it to the next round," Yang adds, gesturing to the two dancing it out on the platform.
Sun looks up and gives Blake finger guns. "Emphasis on 'dork'," Blake averts her gaze with a blush on her cheeks.
Bile, is what could describe that was in her throat at seeing this. Why? Blake can like whoever she wants, it's not my decision.
It's because you're not the one she's blushing at.
"Oooh, does Blake have a crush?" Nora coles teasingly. In turn, Nora received a heavy glare from the Faunus. "I don't hear a 'no'~"
Nora's words only seemed to make the feeling worse.
I don't like Blake like that, she's my best friend. Besides, why does it matter so much to me that she likes Sun, he's a great guy.
You're jealous.
That small voice only seemed to aggravate Yang more as it gradually got louder. Behind all this, Sun couldn't help but feel a small glimmer of hope, but he wasn't going to let it overtake him. Besides, Sun could also see the way Blake interacted with Yang.
"That concludes the matches for today, please leave the colosseum in a calm, orderly fashion!" Dr. Oobleck shouts. All the girls of Team Rwby wince at the volume, but pushing that aside, Yang says they should go down and congratulate them.
As they're leaving, Weiss comes to a stop, making Ruby bump into her, as she looks up at one of the airships in the sky.
Ruby felt a small compulsion to apologize, but Weiss would more than likely scold her, reminding her that that hasn't happened yet.
Ruby asks the frozen girl what she's doing. "She's here…" Weiss whispers as a smile grows.
"Winter!" Weiss squeals, utterly thrilled that she'll see her sister. It took a moment for her to realize the noise that came out as she looked over at all her friends giving her looks of mirth. Embarrassed, her face turns red, avoiding the others eye contact.
"Aww, Weiss, there's nothing to be embarrassed about, I get excited to see Yang after she goes away." Still with no response, and an even redder blush, the others decided to let her be.
With that the screen goes black and the end credits appear.
Why do I get the sudden feeling a battle is about to go down in the next episode, and it won't have anything to do with the Vytal Festival? Yang's eyes squinted at the screen before giving a shrug, eh, it's probably nothing.
