Chapter 3 - Bonding and Suspicious rustling...

...

So far, its been many moons since she last joined. She walks into the medicine den with a few stupid thorns in her paw. She winces at the pain, and Spottedleaf comes over.

"What is it, Firepaw? What do you need?" Spottedleaf says, sitting down in front of Firepaw. "Well, I have a few thorns in my paw from my earlier patrolling."

"Ah, I see. Thorns aren't the best, you know?" Spottedleaf meows, getting to work as she grabs herbs.

Firepaw keeps her paw out, knowing the drill. Spottedleaf comes over and puts down some cobweb, just in case of excess bleeding from the pricks in Firepaw's paw.

"This might hurt a little, Firepaw." Spottedleaf mews, before leaning down and slowly pulling out the thorns. Firepaw winces once again, finding the pain uncomfortable as she pulls them out.

as soon as the pain is gone, Firepaw sighs of relief and thanks Spottedleaf for her kindness. Firepaw always found Spottedleaf kind and reassuring, even in the midst of silly or dangerous situations.

Spottedleaf picks out 3 thorns and puts cobweb over it. "There, all better Firepaw. you can walk around fine again, just be careful this time, okay?" Spottedleaf says, and Firepaw nods in return.

Firepaw then turns around, before Spottedleaf poked her shoulder. "Hey, I wanna tell you something." Spottedleaf quietly meows, pulling her closer.

Firepaw's eyebrows slightly raise, wondering what she wanted to say. Spottedleaf speaks up, "I wanted to let you know, your apart of a certain prophecy, Firepaw."

Firepaw's eyes slightly widen, and her ears perk up. "Prophecy? Like in, Starclan?" Firepaw says, looking at Spottedleaf curiously but cautiously.

Spottedleaf nods, and she continues, "Yes, your right. It was named 'fire alone will save our clan.' "

Firepaw then calms down, and replies, "Alright, what does this mean for me..?" Firepaw looks at her expectantly.

Though, Spottedleaf gives her a clueless expression. "No idea, really. Just.. stay safe, okay? Especially with thorns." Spottedleaf says.

Firepaw chuckles a bit, before sitting down next to Spottedleaf. They both talk together for a long while, having fun. Firepaw found Spottedleaf nice, and she liked her. Firepaw had considered Spottedleaf to be in her good friends list.

They talk about toms, warriors, duties, and their favorite things like their color or prey. But once its sunhigh, Spottedleaf gets back to work and playfully pushes out Firepaw.

Firepaw giggles and she goes out, missing her fun company almost instantly, with her tail thumping against the dirt. Though, Firepaw gladly leaves and waves at Spottedleaf, and Spottedleaf waves in return.

Firepaw then thinks for a moment, her tail swishing in the air, before she gets and idea and she starts padding towards the apprentice den for some additional company.

Firepaw comes in and sits down near Ravenpaw, and they start talking about certain things.

"Firepaw, I swear Tigerclaw killed Redtail, but..."
"Yeah, I know. I trust you, okay Ravenpaw?"
"... Thanks."

...

Firepaw was talking to Ravenpaw, and found out Tigerclaw might have killed Redtail in hopes of becoming the deputy. Firepaw and Ravenpaw shared thoughts, finding Tigerclaw ambitious.

Though, Redtail was Thunderclan's previous deputy, and he was quite respected in the past. And it has been heavily rumored that Redtail died to Oakheart.

Firepaw was still trying to figure this out, and she went for a walk into the forest with permission, and is going on her first solo hunt assignment.

As she was walking she was thinking ahead about what Ravenpaw and her were talking about.

"So, Ravenpaw says Tigerclaw killed Redtail... But.. There's not enough evidence for this type of situation. I can't just come up to Bluestar and say it was him who killed the deputy." Firepaw's thoughts swam.

"She wouldn't believe it one bit, I need to delve into this deeper, or else something might happen in the future, maybe worse than what had happened." Firepaw thought.

Firepaw hadn't told anyone yet, but she may tell Graypaw about it, if he doesn't freak out or tattle tale on her.

Firepaw has been seen inferior to most in the clan, and she's trying to make up for it by becoming respected and loyal to her clan. And she's been doing hard to achieve such a thing.

She had also found a smart idea, and she will try and gain respect through good actions, and maybe it will help in her quest to tell Tigerclaw is evil.

Firepaw had been working hard for it, like patrolling, hunting, or helping with elders. Its been paying off, and she is gaining some respect.

Firepaw kept walking around the beautiful forest, until she stumbled into a vole that was munching on some grass. She quickly got in a hunters crouch Bluestar had been training her for.

She then jumped for it, only to let it go. She chased after it, only for it to burrow into its nest in fear. Firepaw snaps her jaws in annoyance and frustration, only to hear rustling from behind.

She turns around, finding a Shadowclan cat, or a former one.

"What are you doing on Thunderclan territory?!" Firepaw says, hissing. "Nothing, puny apprentice, easy prey for yellowfang!" The shadowclan cat says, lunging and landing on top of Firepaw.

yellowfang tries to bite for Firepaws neck, but ends up missing and gets kicked away.

Firepaw scratches at Yellowfangs chest, and she yelps and jumps away. "Oh your getting it now, apprentice!" Yellowfang says, charging at Firepaw.

"Awh, you need to do better, kitty!" Yellowfang spat, mocking Firepaw.

Firepaw hissed, and she noticed that Yellowfang barely has any Shadowclan scent. Wait, why is there barely any scent of Shadowclan on her..?

"This is Thunderclan territory, move along!" Firepaw says, her voice dripping with slight defensiveness.

"Says who, apprentice? I can do as I please, and I might as well stay.." Yellowfang says, showing her fangs.

"Enough already! Get out of here, now!" Firepaw spat, having enough as the get closer to each other.

"Your so infuriating and soft!" Yellowfang says, attacking Firepaw once again. Firepaw scratches at her side, and she yowls, but only for her to snap her jaws right near Firepaw's muzzle.

Firepaw's eyes widen, and she backs away just in time!

Firepaw focuses on her weak points, and slams her paw into Yellowfangs chin, making her hiss and spit at Firepaw.

Yellowfang tries to lunge for Firepaw, but she misses and Firepaw goes for her legs. She is hungry and tired, so she can't react fast enough to escape this one.

Firepaw bites on her leg hard, rendering her leg useless. Yellowfang tries to bite for her again, but misses and gets clawed at by Firepaw.

"Haven't you had enough?!" Firepaw says, looking at Yellowfang intently. Yellowfang lifts her head up, tired.

"If I wasn't hungry and tired, I would have shredded you to crow-food..." Yellowfang said, coughing. She was in pain, and Firepaw didn't like the sight of it.

Firepaw was pitying Yellowfang. "W-well..? That's it, isn't it?" Yellowfang says, looking at Firepaw.

Yellowfang wasn't hesitating like Firepaw.

"Well? Go for the kill, I'm done for." Yellowfang says, looking down and tilting her head, revealing her neck in surrender. Yellowfang continues with a somber expression.

"I have no more fight. I'm tired."

Firepaw's eyes widened, and her pupils change a bit.

Why would she give up so easily? I.. I'll go and get her something.. Why do I feel so bad for her? Firepaw thought.

"...Wait here." Firepaw says, going through the tall grasses and rocks. She was going to find some prey.

Firepaw's mind and heart swam with pity and regret, and it was oddly strong.

After about, 10 minutes, Firepaw came back with a juicy rabbit. "Oh, I thought you were gonna get your warrior friends and clanmates." Yellowfang says.

Firepaw passes the rabbit to her. "Here, eat it." Firepaw says, giving her a sympathetic look. "Don't give me that, apprentice. It's humiliating.." Yellowfang says, looking down at the rabbit she gave.

"Look if your not gonna eat it-" Yellowfang cuts off Firepaw, replying, "Oh, I'm gonna eat it."

Yellowfang then starts to bite onto the rabbit, as Firepaw watches. Firepaw gets hungry at the sight of Yellowfang munching on the rabbit.

It wouldn't hurt to have some too, I'm sure...

"That was probably my first prey within days!" Yellowfang said, wiping her lips clean of any remains.

Firepaw starts eating the rest of the rabbit like she was also hungry. Firepaw then munches on the remains, but Firepaw instantly stops eating once there is rustling heard from behind.

It's Bluestar and Graypaw, and her patrol is behind her. Yellowfang's eyes widen and tries to run off, but is too wounded to do so, and Firepaw panics, looking at them wearily.

"What is this, Firepaw?" Bluestar says, as Graypaw says, "Heh.. Hey Firepaw.."

"Hey, I didn't mean to eat the prey, I was just hungry, and.." Firepaw hesitates, as Bluestar looks at Yellowfang, and recognizes her. The former shadowclan medicine cat.

"Well.. This is Yellowfang, and she was just hungry and tired." Firepaw explains, as the other patrols watch and listen intently.

"Okay, were gonna talk later, Firepaw. Let's bring her in, got it?" Bluestar says, giving her a stern look.

They all follow, some of them slightly growling at the sight of Yellowfang, the former Shadowclan cat.

"What made the kittypet bring in a Shadowclan cat? Huh? Since when was that allowed?" Darkstripe and a few cats say, with Longtail giving Firepaw an eye roll, seeming nonchalant about it.

Darkstripe gets closer to Firepaw, snarling. Firepaw's fur stands on end as she looks at him getting closer. Bluestar was about to intervene, but Longtail beats Bluestar to it and gets in front.

"Watch it, no need to get violent, Darkstripe." Longtail says. Darkstripe's expression softened a bit, but he hid it under his usual stern expression."Get out of my way, Longtail." Darkstripe says, looking at him intently.

"I'm sorry, no can do. At least find out why she did it." Longtail says, with Bluestar rolling her eyes. "Enough, we will settle this later. Come with me, Firepaw."

The clan is bustling with rumors, and Bluestar silences them and tells them all to go back to their duties. Bluestar sighs, seeming like she's in tough times.

"You should go and talk to Bluestar, Firepaw." Graypaw says, nudging Firepaw to Bluestar.

Bluestar leads her into her den, ready to speak about what that was about earlier evening.

"Alright, Firepaw, why did you bring in Yellowfang?" Bluestar asks, wondering what her explanation or excuse was.

Firepaw responds with, "Well, I felt bad, and I wanted to help. I couldn't watch Yellowfang get hurt, okay?" Firepaw says, looking down at her paws.

Surprisingly, Bluestar doesn't necessarily snap, but she softens in her words, giving her an empathic look. "I see, Firepaw. But still, we can't bring in random cats who aren't familiar with you."

"Well, the only thing you did that broke the code was you eating prey before the clan was fed. You will be punished for that, Firepaw. But yes, your selflessness is great."

Firepaw looks up at her, sighing. She nods, and Bluestar's expression stays unreadable.

"Your punishment will be attending to Yellowfang in return, got it Firepaw? And it will at least last for a few moons." Bluestar meows, and Firepaw nods.

Firepaw gladly accepts her punishment, and Bluestar dismisses her. Firepaw slowly treks out, thinking about her words.

Bluestar then appoints Firepaw to attend to Yellowfang for her suspicious but helpful actions.

Time skip

Surprisingly, Firepaw does well with the old medicine cat Yellowfang, and they eventually bond greatly, even though Yellowfang denies it.

"Hey Firepaw, how's your duties going with Yellowfang?" Ravenpaw says, padding over. Firepaw sighs, replying, "It's been quite tiring, but I'll manage, Ravenpaw. Don't worry, Yellowfang just doesn't like kits."

Ravenpaw sits down, stretching. "Oh okay. My duties have been fine enough." Ravenpaw meows, looking at the clan working around them with efficiency.

Firepaw looks up at the sun rising, changing the clouds hue and color to orange and yellow. "I need to go and attend to Yellowfang, you can go Ravenpaw."

"Oh, that means I can watch, right?" Ravenpaw says, getting up with Firepaw. "Sure, if your not gonna get bored out of your mind. Maybe help a bit." Firepaw replies, as Ravenpaw nods at the idea of helping.

They both go to Yellowfang, bringing her prey and some mouse bile for her ticks and fleas. A kit approaches, and Yellowfang swats the kit away. "Get out of here, kit!" Yellowfang says.

"Yellowfang!" Frostfur growls, giving her a bad look. "Get your kits away, Frostfur. They interrupt my peaceful time." Yellowfang replies, sitting down. Yellowfang calms down once she sees Firepaw and Ravenpaw.

Soon the 2 of them work together on Yellowfang's lazy body, they groom and clean her fur, as Ravenpaw is kind of panicking, trying not to get mouse bile in his mouth as best he can.

Firepaw giggles, looking at the silly Ravenpaw, who is currently struggling. "Calm down, it will only make it worse, Ravenpaw." Yellowfang says, rolling her eyes.

"I.. Okay, okay. I'll do it.." Ravenpaw says, getting back to work and examining Yellowfang's ticks. Ravenpaw eeks, and he picks it out as quick as he can. That just makes Firepaw giggle all over again.

Firepaw and Ravenpaw look at her slightly matted fur, slightly confused. "What, you can't find the stupid ticks and spots?" Yellowfang notices.

"Yeah, your not wrong..." Firepaw says, scanning her fur like an eagle, but to no avail. Ravenpaw sighs, but then Yellowfang guides them through it.

Yellowfang points out and looks at the areas that hurt and that feel quite sore, and they get to work on it by massaging and using the mouse bile.

After what seems like forever, they finish with Yellowfangs ticks and sore spots, then they both let out sighs of relief.

"Finally, were done. Now I can go." Ravenpaw says, as he continues, "See you Firepaw!"

Firepaw nods, stretching. "You both did well, I'm surprised." Yellowfang says, letting out a yawn as her joints softly pop.

Firepaw waves as she walks away, and Yellowfang rolls her eyes.

"Hey kittypet." Darkstripe says, "How was the mouse bile, huh? Was it tasty? Or, did it smell good?"

"Be quiet, Darkstripe. Your gross sometimes, you know that?" Firepaw says, with Darkstripe smirking with his tail lashing behind him, he likes riling up Firepaw and her friends at random times.

"Okay, Kittypet, don't start crying like a kit." Darkstripe coldly said, padding off in boredom. Graypaw comes over, nudging Firepaw. "Don't worry about him, he's always like this." Graypaw says.

"I know, he always does it on purpose." Firepaw meows, ticked off by his annoying and smug behavior.

"Anyways, let's go for a walk, I'm so bored!" Graypaw points out, sounding excited about a simple walk.

Firepaw nods and gets permission from a warrior, going for a walk. Ravenpaw catches up to them, wondering what they are doing.

"Hey, where are you guys going? I wanna come too!" Ravenpaw squeaks, as he pads over to Firepaw's side.

The both of them look at each other, nodding. "Sure, let's go for an awesome stroll in the forest." Firepaw says, with some excitement.

The 3 of them go for an adventure, taking in the smallest things and the biggest things, admiring the forest and its beauty. They keep exploring, finding hidden streams and old, green moss that smells quite earthy.

They keep going, and going, exploring the territories and what's possibly unexplored.

They find some hidden ice and snow, admiring how its slowly melting and forming clear water. "Woah, there's some ice and snow!" Ravenpaw says, looking intently at it.

Firepaw and Graypaw's ears perk up at his words, both curious.

"Really? Let me take a look!" Firepaw says, coming over. "Woah..." Graypaw meows.

The 3 of them admire the snow and ice melting. "I wonder how ice got here, maybe it's cold here!" Graypaw says. "Yeah, its basically spring. Well, I mean, it really looks nice." Firepaw adds, looking at the remnants of ice and snow.

They stay there, for almost the whole day, exploring and watching, sitting down together, watching the oddly satisfying sunset together.

As the ice and snow melts in the springs,
And as waves wash the old moss' hair...
Thank you, Goodbye.

Those words above were a complete inspiration from calamity mod terraria lol
