Inside of his office, Osmond listened to the group's report of what had happened with Fouquet.

"Hm... So Miss Longueville was Fouquet... Because she's such a beauty, I didn't think twice about hiring her as my secretary..." Realizing he was being glared at by those in front of him, Osmond let out a cough. "A-And she could use magic too."

"Yes, magic that could kill..." Another person in the room with them was Mr. Colbert.

"Well then... To let you all know, Fouquet has been handed over to the soldiers at the capital, and the Staff of Destruction has been put back into the treasure vault. Finally, the case is closed."

Osmond got up and patted the three girls on the head.

"I have requested the imperial court to give you three the title of Chevalier, we should have news of it soon. And since Tabitha here already has that title, I have requested that she be given the Elven Medallion."

The trio's faces lit up upon hearing the news.

"Really?"

"Yes. You have done more than enough to earn this title, haven't you?"

Louise looked at her two familiars behind her, who had been silent since they entered the office.

"Headmaster Osmond, Kai and Saito... won't get anything?"

Osmond looked down for a moment. "Unfortunately, since they aren't nobles..."

Kai waved his hand. "I don't need some title."

Saito nodded. "I don't need that either."

Osmond gently clapped his hands. "I almost forgot, tonight's Ball of Frigg will resume as planned since we have gotten the Staff of Destruction back."

Kirche's face brightened up. "That's right. Let's forget about this and dance all night long!"

The three girls bowed and started to leave. Louise stopped and looked at the two boys. She had no clue why they weren't coming with them.

"Will you get goin' already?" Kai had a fake annoyed look on his face.

As Louise was about to leave, she took one last look at them and noticed something. Kai was shaking ever so slightly.

When she left the room, Kai and Saito's faces were serious.

"I assume you have something to ask me?"

Saito nodded.

Osmond let out a small sigh. He expected something like this. "Please ask. I'll try to answer your question to the best of my abilities. Even though I couldn't give you two a title, this is the least I could do."

Osmond immediately ushered Mr. Colbert out of the room. Since Mr. Colbert was excited to hear the two Gandalfr speak, he was extremely disappointed.

When he left, Saito started speaking. "The Staff of Destruction is from my world."

Osmond's eyes had a spark of curiosity. "From your world?"

"We're not from this world."

"Is this true?"

Kai nodded. "Yeah. We were brought here from Louise's summoning."

Osmond squinted. "I see..."

Saito started once more. "Who was the person that brought it to this world?"

"The one who gave me the Staff of Destruction was my savior." Osmond's voice was heavy.

"Where are they now? They have to be from the same world as us."

"He... died. He died a very long time ago."

Kai and Saito's eyes widened. "What?"

"In my youth, I took a stroll inside the forest and was attacked by a two-headed dragon. The one who saved me was the owner of the staff. He used a different Staff of Destruction to kill the two-headed dragon and then collapsed. He was already injured at the time. I took him to the academy and treated his wounds, but..."

"He died."

Osmond nodded. "I buried the staff that he had used to save me with him in his grave. The other one has been kept inside the vault to commemorate my savior..." Osmond's gaze was far off. "While he was resting on the bed, we couldn't figure out what he had been saying. But... I guess he must have been from the same world as yours."

"Who brought him to this world?"

Osmond closed his eyes at Saito's question. "Right until the end, I didn't know. I still don't know."

Saito clenched his fist. "Damn it! Just when we had a clue!"

Their clue had led them to a dead end.

Standing up, Osmond held the distraught Saito's left hand. "The runes on your hand..."

"Oh right. I wanted to ask about that too. Once they glow I can use any weapon. Not just swords, but weapons from my world."

Kai spoke up. "And mine have kind of taught me how to use a few techniques."

Osmond stroked his beard for a moment. "...That I know, more or less. Those are the runes of Gandalfr, the legendary familiar."

Kai recognized that word. Gandalfr. That voice in his head mentioned it before.

Cocking his head, Saito asked. "Legendary familiar?"

"Yes. Gandalfr was a legendary familiar who could use any weapon at will. That is most likely the reason that you could use the Staff of Destruction... Though it seems the power of Gandalfr has been shared between you two."

"Then... why are we the legendary familiar?"

"I don't know. Maybe those runes are related to you being from another world."

Saito and Kai sighed. A damn dead end.

Osmond gave a swift apology. "I'm sorry that I could not be of much help. I'll always be on your side Gandalfrs!" He gave the two boys a hug, and one of them yelped. "I must thank you once again for bringing back my savior's possession."

"It's alright..." Saito sounded tired.

"I tried to find out how you arrived in this world, but..."

"But?" The boys sounded like they expected good news.

"But I couldn't find anything, please don't be dismayed. You'll get used to this world as time goes by. Maybe by then, you could find a wife here too..."

The two boys sighed. Any semblance of a clue had just slipped through their fingers.

On top of the Dining Hall, there was a slightly smaller, yet still grandiose hall. That was where the Ball of Frigg was being held.

The students and teachers who were dressed grandly gathered around tables filled to the brim with divine-looking food and chatted amongst themselves.

Still dealing with not having any clues to the way home, Saito decided not to go at all, which left Kai alone. Being alone, Kai leaned against the railing of a balcony.

The night air felt really nice.

Looking toward the ball, Kai saw that Kirche was surrounded by some guys, talking and laughing. Tabitha, dressed in a black gown, was munching away on some of the food on the table. Hell, he had a good bit not too long ago.

Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Seeing that, Kai could only let out a wistful sigh.

Next to Kai, Derflinger was also leaning against the railing of the balcony, and he poked his 'head' out to speak. "What's wrong, partner? Why the long face when there's a party going on?"

"Ah, shut it. I haven't had the best day."

Thinking back on it, Derflinger let out a small laugh. "That's putting it lightly."

Smiling back, Kai said, "Yeah... I guess it is."

The doors to the hall opened and Louise appeared.

The guards at the door notified everyone of Louise's arrival. "The daughter of Duke of La Vallière, Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière arrives!"

Louise was dressed in a white gown with her long, pink hair tied up into a ponytail. On her hands were pure white gloves.

After confirming that the guest had arrived, the musicians started playing extremely soothing music. All around Louise, there were boys asking to dance with her.

Before, everyone had just called her 'Louise the Zero', but now those same people were trying to win her over.

Feeling his heart race, Kai didn't know how to feel. Did he have feelings for her? No... He couldn't. She's just so stubborn, rude, snobbish, haughty, cute... DAMN IT! It all made him confused. He just had to look away.

People started dancing gracefully on the dance floor.

Louise had turned down everyone's invitation for a dance, saw Kai leaning on the balcony, and walked over.

Seeing him not turn around, she put her hands on her hips. "Looks like you're enjoying yourself."

Kai shrugged. "Eh, not really..." He kept his gaze away from Louise. He felt like he was blushing and didn't want her to see.

Somehow seeing Louise, Derflinger laughed. "Not too shabby!"

"Shut up!"

"So... aren't you gonna dance?" Kai sounded a little nervous. God, why did he feel like this!?

"I don't have a dance partner."

"Pretty sure I saw a flock of guys asking for your hand just a minute ago." He felt as though he was getting his stride back.

Louise didn't say anything and extended her hand.

"Hm?"

"Even though you're just a familiar... I could make an exception." Both of them were now blushing while avoiding the other's gaze.

"Aren't you supposed to ask nicely or something?"

After a moment of silence, Louise let out a 'hmph.'

"Only today, got it?"

Raising an eyebrow, Kai turned his head toward her.

Holding the ends of her dress, Louise made a curtsy.

"Will you dance with me, sir?"

Seeing her like that made Louise seem cuter than ever before.

"S-Sure..."

Kai, trembling, held Louise's hands, and together they walked toward the dance floor.

"A-Actually, never mind. I've never danced before." Kai's nervousness was getting the better of him.

"The person that learned to fight in just a few weeks can't dance?" Louise smiled a bit which relieved the tension a little. "Just follow my rhythm." She gently held Kai's hand.

He tried to imitate Louise's movements and follow her rhythm but failed horribly.

Louise didn't seem to care about Kai's stiff movements and concentrated on dancing.

"I believe you now."

Kai was confused. "About what?"

"...You said that you and Saito were from another world." Louise was able to keep dancing gracefully.

"What, you didn't believe me before?"

"Well, I was never sure, but the Staff of Destruction... That's a weapon from your world, isn't it? When I saw how Saito used it, I had no choice but to believe."

The two kept a slow pace with their dancing. After a moment, Louise looked Kai square in the eyes. "Hey, do you want to go back to your world?"

"Yeah..."

Somewhat disappointed, Louise looked to the side. "Obviously..."

"But since there's no way back yet... I'll just have to get used to life here for a while."

After that, while still blushing Louise looked up at Kai again. "Um... thank you."

With a puzzled look, Kai asked, "What's up with this all of a sudden? Something's wrong with you today."

Louise had an angry look on her face. "Y-You saved me when I was about to get crushed by that golem..." Louise's face started to get redder. "And even now, you're pushing yourself..." And redder. "You got really hurt during that fight yet you're standing here trying to hide it..." And redder. "It's for that..."

Kai smirked. "You don't gotta thank me. I would've done that no matter what."

"Why?"

"Cause I'm your familiar."

The two of them smiled at each other.

Derflinger, still leaning on the balcony looked at the two of them. "Unbelievable!"

The twin moons in the sky shone from the windows onto the dance floor, and with the candle lights, it created a romantic atmosphere.

"Partner! You amaze me! A familiar dancing with his master? That's the first time I've seen this happen!"
