Time to put an adhesive medical strip over the void left by 'The End'! I needed to write a Molly and Scratch reunion to ease my feels! They are family and the duo of all time!

This story is set one year after the series finale, and one year BEFORE the final chap of my previous fic 'Record of an Engoodifier'. Though the outcome is spoiled by that one, its pretty predictable given the subject on the story. This is what happened to make the events of that chapter possible.

Pete and Sharon sat on the couch, looking over a webpage on the latter's phone. "Should I call him this time? You did the last one on Tuesday." The husband asked his wife.

"Naw, I've got this. Feels good to let out a little bit of rage through a scream." Sharon assured her husband, placing her hand on his. Clearing her throat, she summoned the flames of authority only a mother could have. "DARRYL MCGEE!"

Their thirteen-year-old son poked his head over the staircase. Confused why his name was being angrily called. He hadn't done anything lately that they could trace back to him yet. "Uh, why are you using the angry mom summon?"

Darryl joined his parents over on the couch, his mom turning her phone around to show him the webpage. "Care to tell us why our guest room is up on a 'rent a room' website?"

"Yeah, I had nothing to do with this." Darryl was just as puzzled as they were. "The housing market isn't the most reliable investment, I learned that the hard way with Chuck." He bitterly recounted.

Now Pete and Sharon were even more confused. Pete raised an eyebrow. "If it wasn't you then-"

"Wait! Sorry, this one's on me!"

All eyes turned to the energetic teenage girl running down the stairs. Molly McGee was fifteen and already completed her freshmen year of high school. Her ponytail had gotten maybe two inches longer and curved down from the added length. Her vest and bracelet remained while the rest of her outfit had been swapped into newer clothes.

Molly dashed over to her family. She seemed even more excitable than she normally was. A bounce in her step and a grin unable to be hidden. "Molly?! This is you're doing?" Sharon was sure that she wasn't sure she had any idea what was happening anymore.

"Yes! And before you say anything else, look at who the guest renting it will be!" She urged them to check the listing.

"Someone already rented?!" Pete shouted, while his wife calmly scrolled further down the page.

Finding the confirmation of the booking, Sharon read the name aloud. "It says it's for Todd Mort-" she stopped, eyes widening. Pete and Darryl did the same. She didn't even need to finish saying it. They all knew the name Todd Mortenson.

It was Scratch's real name.

The same Scratch who had been a ghost residing in their home when they bought it. The same Scratch who they'd welcomed into their family as a McGee. The same Scratch who discovered he was a wraith of a living person and returned to life without his memories of being a ghost.

Darryl was the first to speak up. "Scratch is coming back?" He cautiously hoped.

"Molly?" Sharon looked at her daughter for an explanation.

"OK, so I've been following his and Adia's adventure vlog. And a few days ago he said in a video-"

We cutaway to the video Molly was watching. Todd and Adia are in Cambodia. Todd holds the camera while the two are ziplining back to back. "-the breeze on my face feels real nice! Reminds me of the wind back in our hometown, Brighton… Huh, maybe I should stop by for a visit-OW! ADIA, WHERE DID THAT TREE COME FROM?!"

Back to the present with Molly- "So I might have put up our guest room for rent. Y'know, hoping there'd be a chance he'd see it." She sheepishly rubbed her neck. "And he did! He found it all on his own! Todd must subconsciously remember living here!" She went back to excitedly hopping on her heels. Her hopeful wish had been granted! The heavens themselves smiled upon her!

Darryl was getting excited too. "Yeah! I bet being back here with us will jog his memory!"

While their kids were excited, Pete and Sharon were much more cautious in their expectations. "Or-maybe, y'know the low price and no swarm of tiny animals enticed him to choose our home." The father of the family suggested.

The overly excited girl calmed down, her dad's theory was very possible. "I mean, yeah that could ALSO be a factor in his choice making."

"Molly, Darryl-" Sharon spoke gently. "I know how excited you are, we're happy too!" She gestured to herself and her husband. "But I want to make sure you both are aware of how slim the chance of Scratch remembering is."

The kids paused, forlornly looking away. "Yeah, mom." Molly sighed. "I understand. I really do." Ever the optimist, Molly McGee sadly was fully aware that what she wished for was a long shot. Failure IS an option, one she hated to know was possible.

Her parents and brother got off of the couch and hovered around Molly. Pete put his hand on her shoulder and gently nodded to her. "Please just keep it in mind." They all missed Scratch dearly. It was heartbreaking to have him gone. Could their kids handle a second round of heartbreak if it didn't work out? "When Scra-Todd arrives he's going to see us as strangers. We can't automatically start acting like we know him. Can you really hold back that much?"

"I will dad." Molly assured them. "I have matured this past year, I am more tethered to realistic expectations. I will promise to respect Todd's boundaries. I won't even hug him until he remembers me." She held up her hand, making her promise. Saving their hug would make it even more special.

Her brother also accepted how he'd have to act around Todd. "Guess I'll do the same. So, when's he getting here?"

"Um…" Molly double-checked the booking. "Four days from now."

They had only a few days to prepare themselves for the arrival of their guest. Whatever happens, they will tackle it as a family.

"Wait… does he still eat like he did as a ghost?" Pete wondered. The rest of his family shrugged, guess they'd find out soon enough.

OXOXOXOX

Nothing quieted down after that. The following day Ollie and Libby were summoned to the McGee residence right after breakfast. Pete let them in and directed them up to Molly's room.

"Is it just me, or did Molly's text seem more frantic than usual?" Libby looked back at the note, it looked like it was typed in a hurry, words were misspelled, and exclamation points were in no short supply.

"You don't think she drank espresso again?!" Ollie fearfully asked.

Libby's eyes widened in identical fear. "We survived caffeine Molly once, we can do it again." Oh cob she hoped that wasn't the case.

The duo prepared for the possibility and climbed up the ladder into Molly's room. To their relief, they instead found Molly with her mystery board. "Oh, thank goodness, it's just a Molly scheme." Ollie could breathe easier, so could Libby.

"Hello best friends! I have summoned you here for the most important of important missions." Molly led the two over to the front of her board, which had been turned around to hide its contents until the dramatic reveal. Which was now! Molly flipped it around and unveiled it in its entirety. "Getting Todd Mortenson to remember his time as Scratch!"

Libby and Ollie were stunned. The latter was the first to speak up, as he looked over what was displayed. "Wait-hold up… Todd is visiting Brighton?!" He took an even closer look at one of the glittery post-it notes scattered about. "He's staying at YOUR HOUSE!?"

"I put up the listing, but he found it on his own! That has to mean something!" Molly exclaimed.

A little more on the cautiously skeptic side, Libby did have to admit Molly had a point. "That does seem possible. Plus, he does remember 'enhappify' and called you 'Moll' when he left."

"Exactly! All those ghost memories are buried under the surface. We have to be the shovel that digs them back out!" Molly raised her finger into the air.

"So what's the plan?" Ollie dared ask.

His girlfriend grinned deviously, she reached down and pulled up an extra sparkly piece of paper to add to her board. "I present to you our operation! Besties. United. Through. Timeless. Shenanigans!" Each word was spelled from top to bottom, the first letter of each written in bright red glitter pen.

Libby and Ollie looked at each other, silently debating which of them was going to speak up. The latter caved first and had to tell his gf. "Um, Molly… that spells 'butts'."

Molly looked back over at the board, finding that the acronym of her operation indeed spelled out 'BUTTS'. She groaned dejectedly. "Aww." It was too late to come up with a better acronym, they were stuck with this one. "Poorly worded acronym aside-what really matters is what we need to do!"

"Which is…?" Libby was a little afraid to find out.

"We will recreate the highlights of me and Scratch's misadventures! The trials and tribulations that brought us closer and solidified our friendship!" Molly's high energy dropped a bit and she grinned sheepishly. "I need your help organizing all of it and figuring out the logistics."

Her friends took an even closer inspection of the board. Most of the glitter-covered notes stuck up there were different events Molly and Scratch had gone through during their time together. They also realized how tired Molly seemed and that she stifled a yawn. Libby and Ollie came to the same conclusion, that it was once again time for them to step in as the 'Molly's sanity protection duo'! A self-appointed task force for keeping their best friend in check, they even had these really cool matching sunglasses, but Libby fell and broke hers.

Crossing her arms, Libby narrowed her eyes at Molly. "Molly, did you stay up all night crafting this scheme?"

The enhappifier stammered a bit. "Wha-I don't-does it really matter?!" Under the stares of her best friend and her boyfriend, Molly let the truth mumble out. "I got like an hour or two of sleep."

"Oh, Molly…" Ollie walked over and held her shoulder. "We've talked about this, you get a little unhinged with sleep deprivation." Granted, he also suffered from insomnia sometimes. They'd had talks (and cuddles) before about what each should do when this happens.

"I know…" Molly sighed, pouting. "But how can I sleep when I've got all these ideas coming out of my brain?! I need to get them out and onto the board before I get distracted and lose them!"

The taller girl knew how to counter that argument. "Molly McGee, do not make us use the weighted blanket on you!" She had done it before, and she'd do it again!

Molly quietly chuckled, appreciating her friend's concern. "I know, I know, you guys worry about me when I get like this." How lucky was she to have friends to look out for her when she was hyperfocusing.

Ollie squeezed her shoulder, standing on one side of her, while Libby stood on the other. The two of them had been with her the whole time Scratch was gone. They understood how deeply Molly missed her ghostly companion. And it wasn't just Molly- "We miss him too." Ollie said softly, assuring his love that her heart wasn't the only one missing a grumpy, blue ghoul.

Molly gratefully smiled at her friends. "I really believe we can bring Scratch back. All of us, Ghost Friends and family. We'll remind him of what he means to us."

Though her words were hopeful, her friends were more than aware of the silent underlying truth. If this doesn't work and Scratch doesn't come back, Molly will need them to hold her together.

Libby held out her hand. "For Scratch!"

The swoopy-haired boy placed his hand on top of hers. "For Scratch!"

Molly put her hand over both of theirs. "For Scratch!"

"Molly, is there glitter all over your hands?" Libby uncomfortably noticed the sparkles that were now stuck to her and Ollie's palms.

"Yeah, I used way too much."
