Bill Harford was very distraught that Alice had decided to distance herself from him and he came across a promotional poster for the Miss County election evening in the front of a tanning salon and when Bill went in to find out more the manager told Bill that this salon was the only place where it was possible to buy tickets to attend the evening. So Bill bought a ticket, and when it was time to attend the party, Bill dressed up and headed for the premises. Before he even entered the room, Bill was surrounded by dozens of gorgeous women, all wearing elegant heeled sandals and evening gowns. When Bill entered the room, these dozens of gorgeous, elegant women were all seated next to each other in what was known as the VIP area. during which Bill walked right past a very elegantly dressed former Miss Départementale in her official sash, shyly apologizing for having to pass too close to her because the crowds in the room made it difficult to move around normally. Bill saw a former Miss France contestant at the end of the room taking pictures with the audience and came over to her to tell her she was irresistible. Bill was glad he'd told her, because now he could boast that he'd hit on a Miss France contestant. Bill had also recognized that one of the members of the jury who had dressed up for the occasion was the owner of the tanning salon where he had picked up his ticket. The following year, Bill went back to the tanning salon to get a ticket to attend the Miss départementale election, and was greeted by the owner of the tanning salon, who had been a member of the jury the year before, so Bill said to him, "I saw you on the jury last year, I was at the party! "
