Hi everyone, Happy New Year! And sorry this took so long to get out, the holiday season kept me pretty busy! I'm really hoping I'll be able to update more often going forwards, at least every two weeks at the latest is the goal.

I sat in class, rapidly tapping my pencil against my knee as I watched the clock. Steve (in a disguise that was hopefully better than a baseball cap) was supposed to be picking me up in 5 minutes and I couldn't wait. Carol Danvers was coming to Earth for a visit and I was finally going to get to meet her—I'd even begged to come home early so I would be there soon after she arrived instead of having to wait until the end of the school day. I'd expected dad to put up a larger fight about me missing some school, but he had just shrugged, made some comment about how school was stupid anyway and had gone off muttering to FRIDAY about planning new upgrades for one of his projects. Peter had not had the same luck asking May, so he was stuck here until 3. Ha.

3 minutes to go.

I tried to focus back on the lesson, but I didn't even know what half the words meant that the teacher was saying. Oh-formula! I knew that word!

The intercom buzzed loudly, "Ms. Green?"

The teacher sighed at the interruption, "Yes?"

"Can Y/n Y/l/n please come to the front office and bring all of her things? She will be signing out."

"Of course, I'll send her now."

I grinned, already beginning to rise in my seat. Rose gave me a small wave which I returned before shrugging my filled backpack onto my shoulder and heading out the door. Once in the hall, I walked quickly to my locker to grab the rest of my stuff before making my way to the office. My phone vibrated in my pocket and I pulled it out to see a message.

Steve: I'm in the blue hoodie.

Okay? Wasn't sure why he needed to clarify that—I didn't think his disguise would be that good.

I was proven wrong a moment later when I turned the corner and saw no one in the office through the window but a brown-haired guy wearing glasses. Then I realized he was wearing blue. I pushed open the door, and noticed his rimrod posture, how similar his frame was to Steve's, and the awkward way he didn't seem to know what to do with his hands. He winked at me and I smiled back.

The secretary looked up from her computer at the sound of the door, "Hey Y/N, all good to go?"

"Yep!"

"Well, have a good day then, and we'll see you tomorrow."

"See you tomorrow," I responded back cheerfully, holding back a laugh at the side-glance she'd given Steve.

He held the door for me as we left and as we exited out the front doors and went towards the car, I gave him a teasing glance, "You know the secretary thinks you're kidnapping me?"

He turned to me with a shocked look, "What? Why? And what makes you think that?"

"Didn't you see the way she was sizing you up? And probably because you looked uncomfortable in there, and you're not on my guardian list. The note from dad is likely the only reason she even called me down and let me leave with you. I'm guessing the way I reacted to seeing you also factored in.

"I behaved perfectly normally."

"No, no you didn't. Anyways, what's up with actually having a good disguise instead of just wearing a baseball cap like normal?"

He gave me a sheepish grin as he opened the car door for me before walking around to let himself in. As we settled into our seats, he explained, "Tony refused to let me just wear a baseball cap. Said it was pointless having disguises on when you're around the Avengers if I was going to just throw your anonymity out the window by showing up at the school looking too much like me. So, he made me wear a nano mask and a wig. And the glasses."

I chuckled, "Well, at least it's not me in the wig this time."

He laughed, putting the car in gear and pulling off the disguise as he drove down the street, "I'll admit, I have a new appreciation for your sacrifice. That thing was itchy!"

I smiled, staring silently out the window to watch the world speed by.

Then I remembered why I was in this car to begin with.

I turned back to Steve, "OMG, I forgot to ask, is Carol here yet!?"

He jumped at my sudden outburst, the wheel swerving slightly before he righted it, giving me a stern look, "Don't do that!"

"Sorry… so is she?"

He rolled his eyes, "Yes, Carol is here. She arrived just before I left to come get you," he gave me a lighthearted grin, "Probably thinks I'm quite rude for doing so too."

I rolled my eyes right back at him, "Hardly."

"Why are you and Peter so excited about meeting her anyway, you've never really gotten this jazzed up about the rest of us?"

I gave him a pointed look.

He raised one hand slightly in apology, "Sorry, yes, Peter can get rather…hyper. But you I don't think have ever really gotten dramatic about knowing us. So why is Carol different?"

I chuckled, "Oh I assure you, I was at least kinda freaking out on the inside. But I was somewhat sleep-deprived and had just found my father based off of a long-shot, and was still kinda getting used to everything that goes along with finding out Tony Stark is your father…especially once I learned who he was." I laughed quietly to myself at my own ignorance before continuing, "I was in so much shock I don't think there was much else that could have happened that day that would have gotten much of a reaction out of me. I mean, even Uncle Bucky showing up didn't even throw me for a loop too much, remember? But now? Getting to meet Carol Danvers? Captain Marvel. She's kick-ass—"

I was interrupted by FRIDAY's voice chiming out of the car speaker's, "Please avoid using such language around Capsicle, it has been known to offend him."

Steve stared in disbelief at the car stereo system, "Really, Stark?"

I laughed, "That's my dad for you."

Steve groaned, "I really wish I had never said anything that day. But anyways, you were saying?"

"Right, so she's amazing! She glows, and flies, and could probably beat all of you into the ground pretty easily—no offense— and she can just… fly around space, without any sort of special astronaut suit or anything for oxygen, plus she's super smart."

Steve nodded slowly, "Guess that settles that then. And just for the record—some offense taken, though I suppose I can see your point."

"Sorry."

Moments later we were pulling into the parking garage under the Tower and before Steve even had his seatbelt off, I was out of the car and headed for the elevator. Steve came jogging after me, chuckling. "You really are excited, aren't you?"

I nodded enthusiastically and pressed the button to summon the elevator. In a few moments I was going to meet Captain Marvel!

In a few moments I was going to meet Captain Marvel.

In only a few minutes. Oh my god.

I froze, anxiety welling up inside of me. Steve immediately noticed my change in demeanor, looking over at me in concern, "Are you okay, Y/N?"

I looked back at him with wide eyes, "What if she doesn't like me?"

"Well, Tony and Bucky will probably throw her off of the tower—"

"What?!"

He continued as though I hadn't even spoken, "But I sincerely doubt that will be needed. Carol will love you, just like the rest of us do. At least until Peter gets here—you two are both pretty good at getting everyone you meet wrapped around your fingers. But I think sometimes he has an edge over you. No offense."

He said the last words with amusement, and I stuck my tongue out at him as I quoted his earlier words, the last bit somewhat grudgingly, "Some offense taken… though I suppose I can see your point… Peter does have the whole Spiderman thing going for him."

"Oh no, whatever makes that kid so likeable comes from the Parker side of him. And you know that. You can't tell me you weren't taken in by him too the first time you met him."

I wrinkled my noise, "He's too adorable."

Steve laughed and as the elevator arrived, he patted me on the shoulder, "If it makes you feel any better, you're adorable too."

"Take that back!" I exclaimed as I entered the elevator with him and we took off.

"Nope."

I rolled my eyes, "Fine. Then I'll just label your opinion under 'outdated', Capsicle."

He chuckled, " 'Kay there, Tony."

"Hey, I take that as a compliment."

"Of course you would."

Before I could respond, the elevator doors opened, and we exited out into the hallway leading to the penthouse. Even from here I could hear the chaos that usually occurred when too many of the Avengers got together in one place. Steve took the lead, going ahead to push open the door somewhat cautiously before ushering me in after him.

I grinned at the sight before me. Bruce had tucked himself into an out-of-the-way chair. Nat and Clint stood side-by-side with their arms crossed watching as Thor gave a very dramatic retelling of an Asgardian battle to Carol, interrupted every so often by Loki's sarcastic comments and corrections. Ms. Danvers seemed amused, if somewhat taken aback. Dad was sitting at the bar, rolling his eyes, with Pepper and Rhodey. There was an empty stool between him and Uncle Bucky, who was sitting there acting bored to death while Sam whispered in his ear from where he stood next to him. Wanda and Vision were cuddled together on the couch and a blurred Pietro was running around, seemingly attempting to catch Ms. Danvers off-guard (and failing).

I had just enough time to register all of this before the blur came at me, yelling my name and lifting me off my feet in a hug, sending my backpack falling to the ground.

I squealed, wrapping my arms around his neck so I wouldn't fall, my tone dry as I responded to his greeting with a, "And hi to you too, Pietro."

He put me down and I looked up with a blush to realize everyone in the now very silent room was staring at us. Including Carol Danvers.

Dad coughed, drawing attention to himself, "Carol, this is my daughter, Y/N."

I walked over to Captain Marvel, screaming internally, and extended my hand, "Y/N Y/l/n, it's an honour to meet you Ms. Danvers."

She crooked her brow, "Hi Y/N Y/l/n, it's nice to meet you too—you're really Stark's daughter?"

I nodded, "To my joy and horror—"

"Hey!"

I shot Dad a small grin, catching Uncle Bucky's eye as I turned back around, raising my eyebrow questioningly at him.

I heard him shift as I faced Ms. Danver again, and then he spoke, "And um, she's also my great-niece."

That surprised her, and she looked back at me in shock, "Really?"

I grinned, "Yes, it is, Ms. Danvers."

She smiled back, "I think I need to hear more of this story—and call me Carol."
