So there might be a small hiatus between releases. I'm going on vacation soon, and I'm not sure how much time I'll have to write while I'm away spending time with my family.
I don't own Transformers or the Riordanverse; they belong to their owners.
Chapter 14: Weekiversary
Thalia, Luke, Annabeth, and... some other guy who ran funny and wore a cap were running through the woods. Rain poured all around them as lightning flashed.
"Come on! We're almost there!" said the stranger.
But Thalia looked back at the massive hoard of monsters following them; they would be on them at any second.
Annabeth stumbled forward and collapsed on the ground. "I can't...I can't run anymore..." she cried, her tears mixing with the rain pouring over her face.
"It's just one more push, Annabeth," Luke said as he picked her up. "We can make it."
The stranger stopped and pointed forward. "There! Just over that hill!"
Everyone ran up the hill, but at the base of it, Thalia stopped.
"Thalia, come on!" begged Luke.
Thalia didn't say anything. She just looked at the massive hoard of monsters coming at them. Leading the pack were three bat-like women.
"Thalia?" asked the stranger.
Thalia turned her head with a determined look. "...Grover, Luke, take Annabeth and go."
"What?" Luke asked.
"I'll hold them off," Thalia said.
"What?! No!" Grover protested, I'm supposed to-"
"It's me they want. Get to safety!"
"We're not leaving-"
"LUKE! GO!" ordered Thalia. A flash of thunder seemed to erupt all around them.
Tears come from Luke's eyes. "...Okay," he said.
He grabbed Annabeth and lugged her over her shoulder. "Thalia?" Annabeth said softly.
Thalia gave a bittersweet look at Annabeth. "I'll be okay, Annabeth. I'll see you again."
"NO!" Grover yelled. "I have to protect you!" but Luke grabbed him by the shirt and dragged them off.
As Luke, Annabeth, and Grover disappeared over the hill, Thalia faced the monster hoard again; she brought out her spear and the shield Ageis. The bat women smiled sadistically.
"Alright, you freaks! COME AND GET ME!" Thalia shouted before charging into the fray...
That's where Hot Rod's dream ended, and he woke up from his recharge slab.
He got off and rubbed the back of his head, wondering what exactly had been up with that dream he just had.
And where were he and the other Autobots during it?
For now, though, it was probably time to get to work. It had been about a week and a half since he and the other Autobots had arrived on Earth, and Hot Rod was ready to make some serious progress in their search.
He walked out of his recharge chamber and went to Thalia, Luke, and Annabeth's impromptu room, but they weren't there.
Puzzled, Hot Rod started searching the rest of the ship and found Hound looking around as well.
"Hey, Hot Rod, have you seen Luke anywhere?" Hound asked.
"No. I haven't seen Thalia either." Hot Rod murmured.
"I think Annabeth is gone too." Chromia said, walking up, "I can't find any of them."
"You think something happened to them?" Hot Rod asked, "Do you think one of those monsters they talked about snuck up in the middle of the night and captured them?"
"Our sensors would have picked up something like that if it entered the ship." Hound pointed out.
"Yeah, but how do we know that this planet doesn't have some kind of insane sensor-sneaking monster?" Hot Rod asked.
Hound put his fingers to his chin contemplatively. "You know, that's a good point-"
"I found them," announced Prowl, walking up to the three.
"You did?" asked Hot Rod.
"They snuck out early this morning," Prowl explained. "They just got back and are in the briefing room."
"Snuck out for what?" asked Hound.
"Well, you'll see," Prowl said.
Hot Rod, Hound, Chromia, and Prowl went to the briefing room where the other Autobots and the kids were waiting for them. There, on the briefing board, was a giant banner that said "Happy Weekiversary." The briefing table had a variety of Energon snacks and drinks laid out on it, and there was a separate, smaller space for human food.
"What is this?" asked Hound.
"It's our way of saying thank you," Thalia said.
"For what exactly?" Hot Rod asked.
"Giving us the best and most stable home we've had in a long time," Luke said.
"But it's been a week and a half, not a week..." Prowl pointed out.
"It took a while to put the banner together," Annabeth sheepishly said.
"How'd you get all this set up?" Chromia asked.
"Ratchet helped us out," Thalia said.
"RATCHET!?" Prowl exclaimed, turning to the Autobot medic.
"Hey, do you know how long it's been since I've had a chance to party?" Ratchet asked. "Decades! Possibly centuries."
"Oh yeah," muttered Prowl. "I forgot you were the party type. It hardly ever comes up these days..."
"Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not passing up a chance at some R&R!" Sunstreaker declared as he rushed over to the table and guzzled down an Energon drink.
"Let's get Trailbreaker down in here, then we can really hit it off!" laughed Brawn as he took a seat. The other Autobots followed suit.
The only Autobots who didn't rush to take a seat were Prowl and Optimus. The two bots looked awkwardly around.
"Hey," Thalia called. "What's wrong with you two?" she asked.
"Nothing." Prowl insisted. Optimus, on the other hand, was more sheepish and quiet.
"Oh, don't mind those two Annabeth," Sunstreaker said. "These two wouldn't know a good time if it rear-ended them."
"I don't do good times," Prowl said.
"You don't?" Annabeth asked sadly.
Chromia laughed. "Come on, Prowl, they put a lot of work into this."
Prowl let out a sigh and sat down, taking a drink of Energon.
"You too, boss bot!" Hot Rod said.
Optimus looked a little flustered. "I... um, erm..."
"That's an order, boss bot." Hot Rod laughed.
"Hot Rod!" Prowl said sternly.
"What?" Hot Rod shrugged.
Optimus sighed and took a seat. He retracted his face plate, revealing his mouth, and started drinking. He looked awkwardly somber while doing so.
"So, uh, how about an icebreaker?" suggested Hound.
"Oh, did I ever tell you guys about the time me and Prowl chased down Quillfire?" Chromia asked.
"Yes. Multiple times..." Ratchet murmured.
"We haven't heard it," Luke said cheekily.
Prowl sighed. "Chromia, don't tell them that-"
Chromia took that as her cue to start. "Okay, so me and Prowl, we're on the beat in Iacon, when we got this report of this anarchist causing havoc down one of the streets. Sounds like a pretty standard job, right?"
"Well, the anarchist was this guy named Quilfire, and he was slashing his personal insignia onto the walls of various buildings. He wouldn't back down, so we had to engage him in combat."
"Here comes the best part..." Sunstreaker giggled.
"What's the best part?" Annabeth asked.
"Chromia-" Prowl began.
"During the fight, Quilfire jabbed some kind of spike into Prowl." Chromia continued, starting to giggle. "But it turns out it was coated in some kinda toxic. Next thing I knew, Prowl was hallucinating like crazy and acting like he was a little protoform!"
Annabeth, Thalia, and Luke laughed.
"You!?" asked Thalia. "Acting like a little kid?"
"Not my finest moment..." Prowl muttered as he messed with the straw in his drink.
"Hmm. I suppose I have a story I could tell." Optimus declared.
"Oh, do tell Optimus," Brawn said.
"It was a couple hundred years ago when we were still on Cybertron." Optimus started. "I was with a team of Autobots heading into the battered warzone of Tarn..."
As Optimus spoke, Hot Rod's mind started to wander. He was having a good time, sure, but he couldn't help but think about that dream he had just had... He had a bad feeling about it that he couldn't shake off.
"Hot Rod?"
Hot Rod turned and saw Thalia looking up at him.
"Are you okay?" she asked.
Hot Rod smiled. "Yeah, I'm okay," he mused.
He wasn't sure how to tell Thalia he potentially saw her die...
