Chapter 5 The Path to the Pokémon League

In the morning Yuto, Brock and Misty were setting up a camp nearby to eat.

"Say Yuto, can you tell us more about the Pokémon of your region?" Misty asked.

"Oh you want to learn about them?" Yuto said.

"Yeah." Brock nods. "Any more rock types you have you can show?"

"Well good thing I swapped out my team a bit." He throws a Pokeball and from it came Beta The Magnet Warrior.

"A robot?" Misty questions but Yuto shakes his head.

"No. He's a rock type. There are a lot of humanoid no Pokémon even in the other regions."

"Like a Machop." Brock said.

"Yes, Beta is both rock and electric type." Yuto said.

"Rock and Electric?" Misty questions in surprise.

"Yeah, he's a magnet. Unlike a magnamite they're composed of rocks." He said.

"Oh got it." Misty said.

"There many other rock types in they're own area. I just want to have a variety of member so i prefer to switch certain ones out."

"What about another Water Type?" Misty asks.

"How about after we go to another Pokemon center." He then noticed gym of sorts with a wooden wall. "Hey what's that?"

"I'm not sure." Brock said pulling up his guide.

"Well let's check it out."

"Yeah." Misty nods.

They went towards it and saw a sign that says. A.J.'s Gym.

"Not official I see. 99 wins and no loses. That's impressive." Yuto said.

"Yeah it is." Misty said.

"Are you my next victim?" They saw a guy go up to them.

"So you must be AJ." Yuto said.

"That's right. So ready to battle?" AJ smirks.

"Alright. I'll show you Pokémon you've never seen before." Yuto said.

"Pokémon I never seen before?" AJ questions.

"I'm from a different region." Yuto said.

They went inside and saw the entire place.

"Not bad at all." Misty said.

AJ puts a backpack down as a Butterfree came down to take it away.

"Alright let's see what you can do." AJ said.

Yuto nodded and goes to his side.

"I choose Sandshrew." AJ sends his Pokémon out.

"Oh a ground type. Well i'll use my own. Come Gazelle." He throws his pokeball forward.

Then Gazelle the King of Mystical Beast came out roaring.

"Gazelle? I never heard or seen that Pokémon before." AJ said in surprise.

"As I said. It's from my own region where many Pokémon you never seen exists."

"Then let's see how they match up against Sandshrew." AJ said.

Both Pokémon stared at each.

"Sandshrew use Dig!" Sandshrew digs into the ground.

"Gazelle, use double team." Yuto's Pokémon made copies.

"Sandshrew use the vibrations in the ground to find the real one!" Aj commands.

He does it and goes to attack but Gazelle blitzed him appearing at the other side.

"Sandshrew! Use Defense Curl!" Sandshrew curls up quickly.

"Use growl." Yuto said.

Gazelle growls ferociously at Sandshrew scaring it.

It moves around as Gazelle pounces at him.

"Sandshrew use Sand Attack!" AJ calls out. Sandshrew flings sand at Gazelle.

Gazelle got blinded.

"Gazelle use roar to push him back!"

Gazelle roars blowing Sandshrew back.

Team Rocket watches from the sidelines of the forest using binoculars.

"That Aj doesn't have style." Jessie said.

"Who cares, look at that guy." Meowth looks at Gazelle.

"Yeah what a ferocious Pokémon." James said.

"One we should get for the boss." Jessie smirks.

Gazelle pounces and Sandshrew dodges but then the arena broke by accident surprising them.

"Hey! I thought this arena was safe?!" Yuto said.

"It should be!" AJ said stunned and shocked.

"Okay. No, the match is canceled until it's fixed." Yuto is not going to let his pokemon get hurt.

"I'll get it fix. In the meantime since this happened you three can stay for the night." AJ said.

"So why do you challenge every trainer?" Yuri asked.

"I want to win 100 times then i'll go and compete for badges." AJ said.

"Well I can understand, just don't take too long or the league will start before you can get them all." Yuto said.

"I know but there is always next year too." AJ said.

"Say where do you keep your other Pokémon?"

"In the gym of course." AJ said taking them inside.

They saw many Pokémon working out with training gear.

"It seems they're all working hard." Misty said.

"Well training is good. But knowing your limits and not over do it is also good." Yuto said.

"I know that." AJ said as Sandshrew then starts its training.

Many of the Pokémon there saw Gazelle and Kuriboh getting curious at them.

Sandshrew climbs up a ladder and dives into a pool shocking Misty, Brock, Yuri, Kuriboh and Gazelle.

Yuto blinks. "Wait is that endurence training?"

"That's right. Sandshrew is a ground type so water is a problem." AJ explains as Sandshrew repeats over and over again.

Yuto watches the other Pokémon do different types of training.

"You and your Pokémon are hard workers." Brock said.

Kuriboh then tried the same gear as Sandshrew with both curled without them noticing.

"What kind of food do you feed them?" Brock asks.

"I make my own Pokémon Food from my own secret recipe." AJ said.

"I just give mine special Poke puffs." Yuto Said

"Poke Puffs?" AJ questions.

"Oh yeah you don't know. It's from a different region where a friend showed me. It's basically treats made out of berries."

"Like Oran Berries, Pecha Berries, and more?" AJ asks.

"Yes."

"Can we try some of them if you have a recipe for it?" AJ asks.

"I got even better." he takes out a box of the stuff. "I always keep some for them."

He takes out a pink one and throws it as Gazelle eats it right away enjoying the treat.

All of AJ's Pokémon smells the puffs and goes over to Yuto. He shares them with the others as they enjoyed the treats.

"Oh look, they all like them." Misty smiles.

"They do." Aj said smiling.

Yuto then noticed Sandshrew was missing. "Hey wheres Sandshrew?"

"What?!" AJ Looks in worry. "Sandshrew!"

"Where did he go?" Yuto helps Kuriboh get freed from the harness.

"He couldn't have gotten far." Misty said worried.

They heard screams and saw Meowth running with Sandshrew bitting his tail.

"Sandshrew!" AJ said as his Pokémon goes to him.

"Meowth is here?" Yuto said.

"Which means Team Rocket is here!" Brock exclaims.

Then the other two appeared doing they're theme.

"Prepare for trouble!" Jessie starts

"Make it double!" James said next.

"To protect the world from devastation!" Jessie said

"To unite all peoples within our nation!" James said.

To denounce the evils of truth and love!" Jessie said

To extend our reach to the stars above!" James said

"Jessie!"

"James: James!"

"Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light! Surrender now, or prepare to fight!" Both of them said.

"Meowth! That's right!" Meowth ends the motto.

"So your the guys that stole Sandshrew." AJ said.

"Like we needed that small fry." Jessie said.

This comment makes Sandshrew and AJ mad.

"Small fry, i'll teach you guys."

"Sandshrew!" Sandshrew shouts agreeing with AJ.

Team Rocket then faces off against him.

"Go Ekans!"

"Go Weezing!"

"Ekans!" Ekans calls out as it comes out.

"Koffing!" Koffing calls out as it comes out.

"Be careful." Yuto told AJ.

"We will. They don't stand a chance." AJ said.

Koffing and Ekans charged at Sandshrew.

"Sandshrew Dig!" AJ cracks his whip. Sandshrew digs making the two miss.

Then he comes out striking them both away.

"Ekans Poison Sting!" Jessie commands. Ekans fires poisoned needles at Sandshrew.

He rolls and Knicks them back.

"Sandshrew use Fissure!" AJ cracks his whip

Sandshrew cracks the ground.

Causing a large hole to open up as energy comes out and hits Team Rocket!

Meowth got hurt and runs. "Let's get out of here."

Jessie and James quickly returns their defeated Pokémon.

They retreated and AJ cheers. "Finally my 100th win!"

"Great job!" Misty cheers for them.

They went out and AJ said: "Next time we see each it's at the Pokémon league."

"Well we will have our rematch there." Yuto said.

They both then shake hands symbolizing their new rivalry. The two split ways as Yuto's group continued on.

Note: Heres AJ's gym and Yuto wasn't arrogant like Ash he just was more worried about the health of the Pokemon, also Gazelle is ground type for a reminder.
