Chapter 11: Family?

It's been months since Korosensei made himself known to governments. The japanese government in particular was getting fed up with no concrete progress regarding the world-destroying monster's assassination. They decided to send another new teacher for Class 3-E, one who should assist Karasuma in training the junior assassins.

That new teacher was Takaoka Akira, Karasuma's 'rival' back during their air force days. He arrived on a sunny and beautiful early summer day, carrying numerous heavy bags and boxes with him. Takaoka had to introduce himself to Class 3-E first, they had no idea who he was.

"Hey there, my name's Takaoka Akira!" the man greeted in a friendly manner, smiling widely with closed eyes. "Starting today, I'll be working here to help out Karasuma! Nice to meet all of you in Class 3-E!"

Takaoka laid down all the bags and boxes, revealing what's inside. Many had food and drinks inside, including unhealty but delicious sweet treats.

Some boys and girls felt guilty about their new teacher bringing all this stuff just for them. "Is it alright to give us stuff that's this expensive?"

"Sure, eat up! I planned to empty my wallet, so don't hold back!" he reassured with a smile, lowering himself to sit down. "Please don't think of it as some sort of trap. I don't want to waste any time getting along with you guys."

"Plus" the man took a bite from an eclair "food tastes best when you sit around and eat with everyone."

The main teacher, Korosensei, had been charmed by Takaoka like almost all 3-E students, drooling in desire when eyeing sweet cakes. "Ku…"

"Oh, Korosensei! You eat up too!" he invited. "I'm gonna end up killing you, though. Hahaha!"

So early on already, Takaoka gained Class 3-E's approval almost instantly.

"Even though you guys work together, you and Karasuma-sensei are completely different."

"You're kinda like a neighborhood father figure."

"Hahaha! That's not bad at all!" the man laughed, liking their impression. He viewed himself as a father to his pupils too. He wrapped his arms around the shoulders of Mimura Kouki and Nakamura Rio, drawing them close to him. "Since we're all gonna be in the same classroom, we're kinda like a family, right?"

Family? Haruno Shiobana rejected this notion. This new teacher didn't show any foul behavior, though he obviously put up a nice and friendly facade. The blond wouldn't trust people like him, especially not before seeing their true face. And the delinquent was right, Takaoka Akira was actually a dangerously violent and brutal man. Tadaomi knew, though orders were orders, the government agent couldn't do anything against the higher-ups himself.

Speaking of the agent, he was reluctantly there, no visible expression on his face.

"Starting tomorrow, you'll be teaching P.E., Takaoka-sensei?" one student asked.

"We're dividing up the labor to lighten the load on Karasuma. He's going to devote all his attention to office work." the man answered, proceeding to point backwards at his old 'rival'. "Isn't that right?"

"…" Karasuma didn't want to, but that was what he would have to do.

"Don't worry! I said the same thing before, but we're a family!" he repeated, intending to increase hope and anticipation. "Put all your trust in me, the father, and I'll take care of everything!"

His words echoed through the heads of Clas 3-E. Most were thinking about who was better, Takaoka or Karasuma? Talks were about how the former appeared naturally friendly and the latter was a stern and reserved guy who didn't interact too much with them.

Karma and Haruno, the most suspecting students sticked together in the back. Both knew that this new teacher was a fraud.

"What do you think, Haruno?" the redhead inquired, narrowing his eyes. "I personally don't trust him. Though I must say, his facade is near perfect. I almost believed him."

Shaking his head slowly, the blond disagreed, glancing at his friend with a serious look in his eyes. "Perfect?" He outright dismissed this word. "Anyone can fake expressions on the first day. Let's see if his facade is perfect tomorrow, where it actually matters."

Right, Takaoka was only fooling around that day, he hadn't officially held his first own lesson yet. Little did most know, that the difference would be night and day.

XXXXXXXXXX

One day passed. It was the same time as the day before, time for P.E. lesson. Homeroom lessons were over.

"Okay, everyone's here! Well then, from today onward, we'll start our new P.E. class." the new teacher announced. "I think it might get a bit harsh, but when we're done, I'll treat you guys to some tasty snacks again!"

"You're just saying that because you want to eat them, right?" Rio accused the man, making the others giggle.

"Pretty much." he admitted, not taking offense. One of the last lighthearted moments.

"Now, let's decide on a shout to get everyone fired up! When I say 'One, two, three', you guys all make a peace sign and yell 'victory'!" Takaoka enthusiastically exclaimed, demonstrating his shout.

Some students found this to be amusing.

"Woah, that's pretty old-fashioned and a rip-off, too."

"Hahahahaha!"

"You nitpicker! I'm not ripping anything off, it's a homage!" the man comically defended himself. The final comical moment.

Time to get back to serious business again. He reached for his bag, taking out a bundle of papers. Specifically, new schedules. "Now then, along with a complete overhaul of the training program, Class E's schedule has also changed."

When the new teacher handed out his new schedule, everyone became shocked. This new schedule was the opposite of kind, filling all 10 periods from Monday until Friday, 6 of them P.E. Worst of all, school wouldn't end until 9 PM.

"…You're kidding, right?!"

"10 periods…"

"Training until… 9 PM?"

"This much is a given. I got the board chairman's approval, too. He said 'The earth is in a time of crisis, so there's no helping it.'" Takaoka explained as if there was nothing wrong, quoting Chairman Asano. "If we follow this curriculum, your abilities will grow by leaps and bounds. So without any further delays-"

"Just a… Hold on a second! This schedule is impossible!" Maehara loudly interrupted him, sounding extremely agitated.

"Huh?"

"If this is all the time we'll get to study, our grades will drop! The board chairman knew that when he approved it!" Hiroto frantically reasoned, unable to agree with the new schedule. "And there's no time for us to have fun, either! There's no way in hell we can do this!"

This teacher didn't care much about reason, he was very unreasonable. So stubborn and unaccepting of criticism that he resorted to violence. Takaoka grabbed Maehara by his head and back, ramming his own knee into the boy's guts, all while maintaining a friendly look on his face.

"GUAHH!" Hiroto let out in pain, forced to spit out. Fortunately, the blow wasn't hard enough to make him spit out blood.

"It's 'we will', not 'we can't'" the man corrected, his expression creepily friendly. He let the class know about his power and authority.

"I told you, right? That in our family, I am the father. Is there… any family in the world where the father's orders aren't absolute?"

'There goes his facade.' the delinquent thought, quickly looking over to his other delinquent friend. 'Perfect my ass.'

Class 3-E was horrified, looking at their poor friend crouched over in pain on the ground. This new teacher was the worst, they feared the same treatment over the slightest backtalk. The fact that he bore a friendly expression while doing stuff like that creeped them out even more than that he believed to actually behave like a friendly father.

"Okay! First up is 3 sets of 100 squats each!" Takaoka declared with an affable smile and clap, like he didn't just physically assault a minor.

Faces and body language of 3-E's students suggested they didn't want to follow the command. Takaoka took notice but wasn't all that offended.

"Anyone who wants to quit is free to do so." he said, dealing lightly with the dissent. "Though if you do, I'll use my authority to fill the gap with a new student. There are plenty of strong soldiers I personally raised with loving care. Even if 1 or 2 of you are replaced, the octopus won't run away."

The mere thought of getting replaced frightened the students to no end, the man toyed with their fears.

"But I don't really wanna do that. You're all my precious framily, after all." Takaoka spoke in a gentle tone. "As the father, I don't even want to lose a single one of you!"

How this brute called them their father really disgusted the class, all of them.

"Let's all save Earth from this crisis together, as a family! Okay?" He wrapped his arms again around the shoulders of two students, a boy and a girl. Mimura again, who was far less comfortable with that than last time, and Kanzaki Yukiko, instead of Nakamura Rio.

Rio was so happy it wasn't her this time. But the blonde also deeply worried about Yukiko, she was shivering in peril, literally in the hands of a monster.

"Alright? You'll follow your father, won't you?" the man tried to manipulate her, aware of the black-haired's dread. Fear was his way of ruling anyway.

Fear. Albeit Kanzaki felt fear and was in the grasp of an abominable individual such as Takaoka, she knew that she couldn't stay scared forever. Yukiko recently dealt with issues of authority and obediance to her father. Though this man, he was not her father, far from it even in a figurative sense. If the black-haired got over a personal problem that kept bugging her for many months, she could get over this problem right now.

Mustering her mental strength, the girl prepared her decision. "I don't want to. I'd rather have class with Karasuma-sensei." And she didn't forget to smile. A genuine and beautiful smile, not a fake smile like Takaoka.

Inwardly enraged, Takaoka slapped the black-haired so strongly, blood came spraying out of her mouth. Even worse than what he did to Maehara.

"You guys don't seem to get it at all… 'Yes' is the only answer I expect from you." he clarified, his eyes still friendly but also soulless. Come to think of it, his entire character was soulless. "If you have a problem with that, then how about we let our fist do the talking?"

Fists and talking. Haruno was excellent with both. Together with [Ougon no tomodachi], his best weapons. The blond would use them against the man who incensed him to the point of total fury. Making a sweet and kind girl like Yukiko bleed, unforgivable. Takaoka managed to intimidate the absolute majority of 3-E, but not him. The delinquent squared up against his new teacher, stomping over to him with a glare that oozed bloodlust.

"I, Shiobana Haruno, have a problem with that!" Haruno proclaimed, holding his gritted fists in front of him.

'What the… Haruno-kun!' his classmates thought in disbelief, fearing an escalation of violence.

'Uh oh, this isn't good!' Karasuma thought, watching the scene unfold. Regardless of who would win the fight that was certain to ensue, things wouldn't look good, not at all!

"Well well…" Takaoka snickered, adopting a fighting stance. "You've got guts, boy. If you want so, I'll gladly let my fists talk. Though I should warn you, I have the authority to make the board chairman expel you from this class entirely."

This was what Class 3-E's students, especially Haruno's friends were afraid of. The blond knew too, but he'd rather get expelled from Kunugigaoka than not make this man pay. Though the delinquent wasn't dumb, he knew his ways.

Provocation

"Don't give a flying fuck about that!" Haruno hissed, angrily disregarding the valid warning. "For what you did to Yukiko-san, I'll beat you so badly you'll be too embarrassed to return! Take my spot in the class, I'll take your pride!"

Slowly standing up from the ground, the black-haired blushed. Not only was he going to take vengeance for her, he also remembered her request to call her Yukiko.

"Oi, stop! You don't know what you're doing!" Tadaomi yelled, rushing over to the location. The blond sometimes seriously annoyed the government agent, but the agent didn't want to see him expelled.

"No, let him continue." Takaoka said, his eyes hardening. There was no way he'd back down either. "It's a father's job to discipline an unruly child."

Suddenly, Haruno began laughing uncontrollably. It was a laugh that intimidated his classmates, Karasuma and even Korosensei, while flustering Takaoka. The man barely managed to keep up his nice facade.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Korosensei and most students flinched. This laughter unsettled them, painting their faces in sweat.

Nagisa and Karma were concerned, sweating. Acting like that, their best friend creeped them out.

Girls who were into the blond were conflicted. Their love interest laughed like a madman. Though villains could be attractive too, not only good boys.

The remaining man, Takaoka, grinned. He pressed his teeth together, quietly exhaling through his nose. His facade was showing cracks, yet he still grinned. "What's so funny?"

"…ehehehe!" the delinquent finished his laughter, reducing his tone to minor chuckles. "Takaoka-san, can a father really discipline a child stronger than him? Do you think you have what it takes to beat me? How foolish!"

Takaoka was starting to get truly angry, one step from changing his expression into one that matched his thoughts. "So we got ourselves a rebel, huh? Children that raise their hands against their father are to be thrown out of the household. Our family doesn't need black sheep."

"Family? Black sheep? I suppose there's some truth to these words." Haruno began, fixing his voice into a dead serious one. His stare also became sharper than before. "Actually, you're kinda right. In a way, this class can be seen as a family. And yes, there is a black sheep among us."

Haruno then eased his grip in his hands, pointing at the black sheep. "Though Takaoka-san, you're wrong about one thing." the blond continued. The air brimmed with suspension and tension, one spark could bring forth an apocalyptic explosion. "This isn't a rebellion, this is an expulsion! I, Shiobana Haruno, hereby announce that our father Takaoka-san is disowned from our family!"

That speech was something else. It was less of a speech, but more of a humiliation. An outright robbery of honor!

Boys and girls of Class 3-E, their yellow homeroom teacher, their foreign language teacher and REAL P.E. teacher all widened their eyes and dropped their jaws in bewilderment. The delinquent just rendered the violent former soldier into a joke, the joke of the century!

And the only one who didn't find the joke funny was the shamed one, the one that had his pride taken. Just as promised, just as planned. Haruno had to execute the final piece of his plan now, a shit-eating grin forming on his face.

"Takaoka-san, if you go home and sweat to never return, I'll spare the thrashing."

This did it. Takaoka no longer had the desire to keep up his facade. His new desire was revenge, bloody revenge for the dignity stolen from him by a blond boy with a smug grin. He could never forgive himself if he didn't reclaim his honor by slaying the one who annihilated his pride.

With a raised fist, his face red from burning anger, the former military man rushed at the teenage delinquent, emitting disturbing killing intent on his own. "YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT! I'LL KILL YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!"

Not allowing the brute to touch him, Haruno sidestepped. His smirk faded, his lips assumed a calm position. The blond insisted not to use his Stand this time. Defeating Takaoka with purely his own skills would add further disgrace upon the mad teacher. And he had to do it with as few moves as possible, the icing on the cake.

After Takaoka missed his wide punch, the delinquent ducked close to the ground, using his low position to put his hands on the ground. Once he'd done that, Haruno stretched his legs upward, then twisting them around the man's neck. The blond subsequently launched his hands off the ground, disrupting Takaoka's balance and making him fall backwards. The delinquent sat on the man's belly, using the sides of his knees to pin down Takaoka's upper arms. With that, the crazy man had no way of escaping. Checkmate.

To top it off, this single move happened within the blink of an eye, most onlookers reacted a few moments too late.

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHH?!"

Meanwhile, Haruno enjoyed himself very much in his position. He was far from done with the one who punched his innocent classmate so hard she spat blood. What goes along, comes along. Without a word, the blond began punching Takaoka left and right. Every time a fist hit, Takaoka's head forcibly bent to either the left or right, where another fist awaited him. The man's neck moved like a swing.

"This is for Maehara!"

"This is for Yukiko-san!"

"This is for-"

"Haruno-kun, that's enough!" Done with their late reaction, everyone pleaded for the delinquent to cease his own violence. He'd already done much more damage to Takaoka than Takaoka did to the two teens he hit once. In their eyes, Haruno had already paid back the toll. Any more hits were just senseless revanchism.

"No! That's not enough! You don't realize what kind of horrible man he is!" the blond protested, wanting to go on with Takaoka's punishment. In his opinion, the man still needed more punishment.

"Yes, this is enough."

The calm yet grave voice belonged to Chairman Asano. Everyone was surprised to see the chairman around, approaching the sports field from near Class 3-E's building. The delinquent even stopped his punches, looking his direction.

"Board Chairman?!"

"Why are you here?" the octopus man inquired, watching the school's most important man walk closer to the humiliated teacher.

"I came to see the state of affairs, as the proprietor. I was interested in the new teacher's abilities, you see." Asano answered, now in front of Haruno and Takaoka.

"Haruno-kun, you shouldn't risk violent conduct again."

"Then name me an alternative, Board Chairman."

For the first time in months, these two engaged in a stare battle again. Needless to stay, they took each other far more seriously than Takaoka. The chairman had business with that man, so he prematurely ended the duel of stares.

"Leave it to me." He smiled at the blond, then directing his attention to the soon-to-be former teacher, lowering himself to have a close face to face conversation.

"You know, Takaoka-sensei, your lesson was horribly dull. Fear is a necessary element for instruction. A top-notch educator would know how to use that fear skillfully and efficiently. However, the sort of teacher who can only cause fear through violence is less than third rate."

Mr. Asano and Takaoka both knew what he was talking about. When the chairman spoke to the utterly bested teacher, the latter mentally felt a giant centipede of fear crawl into his mouth, and there was nothing he could do about it.

"Once you lose to brute force weaker than your own, your lessons are stripped of all persuasive power." Asano took out a pen and paper, writing something on it and then shoving the sheet inside Takaoka's mouth. "This is your notice of dismissal, you will be unable to teach here from this point on."

Done with the fired teacher, the chairman walked back, leaving the sports field's premises. "You at the ministry of defense do not have the power to appoint teachers at this school. Do not forget that everything here is under my jurisdiction." he reminded everyone who the boss was and who had the power.

Left on the ground with paper between his teeth, Takaoka had everything but his emotions taken from him. Driven by his emotions, frustrated hate to be exact, he figured it'd be best to run and never return.

"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! FUUUUUUCK!"

Like this, the disturbance of Kunugigaoka was gone.

Anyone other than him had a reason to rejoice.

"Alright!"

"Takaoka got the boot!"

"Karasuma-sensei will be our teacher like before!"

Karasuma was genuinely glad about staying their P.E. teacher. That class had grown to him. And his prolonged status as Class 3-E's sole P.E. teacher was all thanks to one delinquent boy who really annoyed him once a month or so. 'Heh… Seems like I'm in your debt, Shiobana Haruno. What a special guy you are.'

While everyone celebrated, Haruno looked thoughtful, not particularly content with this development. His best friend naturally noticed.

"What's wrong, Haruno-kun?" Nagisa asked. "Are you not happy that he's gone?"

"…No." the blond answered, slowly shaking his head. "That bastard, I've seen through him. I know his type of personality. I have a feeling this asshole will want to take vengeance on us somehow and someday."

"But why should he do that? You've embarrassed him more than he could've imagined. Shouldn't he fear that if he messes with you again, you'd humiliate him even more?"

"…That's exactly what I wanted to instill in him. Unfortunately, I didn't get to pummel that shitbag enough." the delinquent regretfully confessed. "I wanted to break his teeth and bones."

Sweatdropping, the bluenette smiled sheepishly. His friend had morbidly violent thoughts at times. "Hehe, how about we calm down and join Karasuma-sensei and the others?"

The government agent brought out his wallet, offering a trip to town where his class could eat their fill of sweets, thus making even the only good thing Takaoka had offered Class 3-E.

"Might as well go along." Haruno agreed to join them, hoping his hunch was incorrect and he'd never have to meet that man again.

XXXXXXXXXX

On their way, where everyone was present, Kataoka suddenly spoke up, blushing. "Ahm… excuse me for a second, this may be weird, but…"

"What is it?" everyone curiously wanted to know.

"I… I've thought about what Haruno-kun said, how our class can be seen as a family." she shily began. "In that case, we the students are the children, right?"

"…Yes, and?"

When Meg spoke out the words, she wanted to sink into the ground out of awkwardness, becoming as red as Karma's hair. "Who's the dad? Korosensei or Karasuma-sensei?"

"…"

"…"

"…"

3 reactions from 3 parties, the possible fathers of the figurative family and the figurative children.

"Uhhh…" the yellow man mumbled, feeling a weird level of awkwardness.

"Uhhh…" Tadaomi murmured, experiencing the same as his homeroom colleague.

"Forget what I've said." the blond apologized. Technically, he was the reason for the current awkward atmosphere. "Let's all forget what I've said. Just a figure of speech in a moment of needed solidarity. I mean, there's no way one can have two fathers, right?"

Right?

That was it for this chapter. It was funny two write. One reason being Giorno destroying Takaoka with speech and strength alike, and the other being the little joke in the end about fathers. Speaking of fathers, Giorno was the perfect one to beat Takaoka since he can get around without a father. As those who've read Assassination Classroom know that Takaoka returns, Giorno also knows. At least he highly suspects it. This will be a plot point in the future. Until that time, see you next chapter!
