It's been awhile hasn't it? See end of chapter for Author's Note for somewhat of life update and story update.
CH 26
Newly purchased Arc-Schnee House
West Vale
Seven. That was how many sister's Jaune grew up with. Adding in himself and his two parents that put ten people in their household growing up. Jaune thought he knew the chaos that they dealt with being he was in the house as well but being here with his wife and seeing the eight people before him going back and forth with the endless amount of questions, well he might be thinking about that a bit differently.
Questions were flying in left and right from his friends and teammates while Winter was adding her own as well. After about a minute had passed, Jaune began trying to regain control of the situation and after about a minute of failing, Willow decided to ultimately step in.
"ENOUGH!" Willow shouted as everyone went quiet and turned to look at her. "Good, now everyone go on and sit down so we can discuss this one question at a time like proper adults and not like a pack of deranged lemurs."
Everyone blinked a few times before looking around and sitting down.
"Nice, now we can have a civil conversation and make sure everyone's questions are answered so, we'll go left to right and start with Weiss but I'll be the one to preemptively answer and say yes that is a real pregnancy test. Yes the results are positive, yes they are for me and yes Jaune is the father." Willow stated bluntly as she stared at her youngest daughter who had a gobsmacked look on her face.
"Any other questions dear?" Willow asked as she watched Weiss open and close her mouth repeatedly trying to figure out what to say.
"Well, while Weiss reboots her brain lets move onto the next question." Willow said as she looked at the ginger girl seated next to Weiss.
"Nora was it?" Willow asked as the ginger teen gave a nod in response, "Good well go ahead with your question then."
"Do you know if it's a boy or girl yet?" Nora asked as she bounced in her seat.
"No we don't, dear, we only found out from the previous owner of the house who happened to have a semblance that could sense the presence of life. She told us about it. That means no triplets or twins are on the way yet either." Willow said with a small laugh.
"YET?" Weiss squawked.
"Well I'm young and healthy, as is your stepfather Weiss, and when two people love each other very much, well you know. I've given you the talk before." Willow said with another laugh as Weiss' face began to take on a greener tone much like Jaune's did when he got motion sickness.
"Are you excited to be a daddy Jaune?" Ruby asked from her seat next to Nora as she moved her gaze away from her partner and to her fellow team leader.
"I'm excited but I'm also nervous. I think that's a pretty common thing though among expecting parents." Jaune said as he scratched the back of his neck.
"You'll be fine Jaune, I know bad parents and I know you won't be anywhere close as bad as my egg donor after all." Yang as she gave him a reassuring smile.
"Thanks Yang." Jaune said as he returned the smile with one of his own.
"Have you told your parents yet, Jaune? About any of this?" Ren asked as he decided to input his own question.
"We've told them about our marriage and yes we told them about the baby on the way. My mom was very excited and is already shopping for stuff for them." Jaune said as he rubbed his neck again. "She's sort of grandbaby crazy if that makes sense." Jaune said with a sigh as he tried to explain the best he could.
"Well I wish you the best of luck." Ren said before Nora chimed in again.
"Oooh oooh, does this mean we get to be honorary uncles and aunts?" Nora said with stars in her eyes.
"Of course Nora, just make sure you aren't giving any dangerous toys till they're older alright." Jaune said with a laugh as Willow looked at him with the look of "we will be talking about what sort of toys and presents we will allow later" causing Jaune to give a nod back and turn back to his friends.
"Any questions or input from you Blake? You've been awfully quiet, not that that isn't normal though." Jaune said as he looked at the raven haired member of team RWBY.
"It's just a lot to take in. Anyway, what did Weiss' sister need help with?" Blake asked as she turned her attention away from the blond knight and towards the white haired woman currently seated by Pyrrha.
"Yeah I was going to ask Winter and Pyrrha if they had any questions but it seemed like they kind of have their own thing they're concerned about so yeah uh to summarize, we're having a kid. We don't know if it's a boy or girl but I'd be honored to have you all as honorary aunts and uncles." Jaune said as he looked at his friends and teammates.
"How far along are you?" Weiss asked as her face had regained some of its color.
"I'm not entirely sure but from the symptoms I've been having I know I'm sometime in the first trimester. I'll let you know when to expect the birth of your new brother or sister after I go see a doctor."
"Anything else before we transition from my pregnancy news to whatever Winter and Pyrrha brought in? No? Alright you two the floor is yours. What do you need help with?" Willow asked as she looked towards her eldest daughter who looked increasingly nervous as she looked between the redhead spartan sitting next to her and her mother.
"Well um, you see, Pyrrha was very upset last night and after a crying session I helped comfort her with, I decided to take it upon myself to look for things to do to cheer someone up."
"I wasn't aware you and Pyrrha were close." Willow said as she looked at the pair as everyone else in the room nodded alongside her and watched on intently.
"Well we weren't too familiar with each other before you and Jaune got married but she's been hanging around and talking with me since then as I've been helping her work up the courage to confess and to push forward with her feelings among other things." Winter said.
"Interesting, did you know about this Jaune?" Willow asked as she looked towards her husband.
"I didn't, although I'm relieved both of you seem to have found a good friend for yourself." Jaune said with his usual smile before something seemed to click in his head. "Wait, were you the one who put the polygamy idea into Pyrrha's head?"
"Nope, that was me fearless leader." Nora said with pride in her voice.
"Right, anyway um, continue on with your story then." Jaune said as he gestured for Winter to continue.
Winter took a deep breath before continuing on with her story.
"Well I researched online how to cheer someone up and found some ideas on what to do and how to you know take their mind off of the thing making them sad." Winter said as Jaune heard a quiet barely audible "Oh dear." from Willow next to him as Winter continued her tale.
"So after lending her a change of clothes for us to go out with and both of us taking time to get ready, we went out and got some nice food at a little hole in the wall restaurant." Winter said as Pyrrha nodded along.
"Okay well what happened next then? So far it doesn't sound too bad at all. Unless you got mad at the chef for overcooking your carbonara and attacked him or something… That didn't happen, right?" Jaune said with a slightly nervous laugh as he looked at the duo, letting out a small sigh of relief as both denied the action.
"No nothing of the sort, the food was quite good, it was what happened after that I had wanted to discuss with mother."
"Well what happened afterward?" Willow asked as all eyes in the room eagerly looked at the pair, waiting for the next part of their story.
"Well I found a place to go to afterwards for a drink because I read online that that could help too." Winter said with seemingly less confidence in her voice.
"Oh man don't tell me you two went to the 'The Club' as that place is usually just bad news. The people that run it and I aren't on the friendliest of terms for obvious reasons." Yang said with a groan.
"Isn't that the bar you trashed, sis?" Ruby said as she glanced over at her sister.
"Hush Ruby, this isn't a story about my bar adventure. It's about Willow's and Pyrrha's." Yang said as she tried to silence her sister and any attempts to change the subject.
"No we didn't go to 'The Club' but I will be interested in hearing that story later." Winter said with a very pointed look.
"Well where did you go then?" Blake said as the normally quiet faunus decided to ask the question many had on their minds.
Winter turned to face the faunus and began her answer. "We went to a place called 'The Roost'." Winter said as Willow muttered out a quiet "Oh no."
"It's a smaller bar in Vale. I had read some good reviews on it including one where someone's best friend had their wife there and they-" Winter trailed off as she turned to her mom and her fairly new husband, who was seated beside her smiling awkwardly as Winter's and Pyrrha's face began to pale.
"Well, do continue with your story dear. We're all still waiting." Willow said with a smirk.
"Wait, is that where you two met? There's no way right? That kind of thing only happens in stories." Winter said as all color finished leaving her face and Pyrrha put a reassuring hand on her shoulder and gave her a small smile.
"Wait so who posted the review then?" Ruby asked as all eyes turned to the only unmarried man in the room.
"Uh, guilty as charged?" Ren said with a shrug and a nervous smile of his own.
"You left a review?" Nora asked from the seat next to him.
"Yeah? Why wouldn't I? The place was good afterall." Ren said as Nora took his words and appeared to be thinking about something.
"Wait so you didn't just shack up with a student for a one night stand?" Yang asked as she looked at the elder of the Schnee daughters.
"What no! I'd never do something like that and I didn't thank you very much."
"Well I doubt either you or Pyrrha are pregnant, and if you didn't do a one night stand, and still wanted to talk to your mother that can only mean…" Blake said as she slowly pieced it together.
"Well, like mother, like daughter I guess." Willow said with a sigh as she brought her hands up and gently massaged her temples as everything began clicking for those around them and Yang let out a laugh.
"Well uh, congrats you two. I guess, I think?" Jaune said awkwardly as he looked at Winter and Pyrrha whose faces currently matched the color of Pyrrha's hair.
"What?" Weiss shouted out as she looked at her sister and her new wife as Yang laughed so hard next to her she was clutching her sides as she managed to get out in between laughs an actual sentence.
"I thought Winter was just going to say she hooked up with a student for a one night stand but this is even better. This is pure gold." Yang managed to say as her laughter only increased.
"Wait, so you two actually got married? DRUNKENLY MARRIED? Surely there are laws against that."
"Don't call me Shirley." Ren said with a grin as Weiss rounded on him.
"Not the time for jokes Ren. This isn't funny." Weiss said with an angry look.
"Personally, I find it hilarious." Yang managed to get out as she was now doubled over still laughing.
"Wait a minute!" Nora yelled as everyone turned away from the laughing Yang to the ginger haired girl.
"Yes Nora?" Jaune asked as he looked at his teammate.
"Ren! If Pyrrha got drunkenly married, do you know what this means?" Nora said, her volume level still the same even though the black haired huntsman in training was right next to her.
"What Nora? What does it mean?" Ren asked as he rubbed his ear as everyone else watched on curiously.
"It means we need to go get drunk and get married too! So we'll all be the same."
Nora said while waving her hands wildly.
"Uh Nora, I don't think that's how that works." Jaune said while holding his face in his hands. Meanwhile Yang had broken out in laughter again as Ren's usually stoic face cracked some.
"Nora, I don't think that's the best idea." Ren said as he tried to disway his partner and girlfriend from this idea.
"Nonsense Ren, after all alcohol is why we're together. Now come on!" Nora said as she grabbed his hand and the duo rushed out of the house. Well one rushed out and the other was dragged out as Yang yelled out and early congratulations.
"So you guys think they'll actually do it?" Yang asked as she watched the duo disappear down the street.
"Eh, probably." Blake answered.
"Yeah, once Nora sets her mind to something, it's pretty hard to dissuade her. So the answer is a hard probably." Jaune answered as he leaned back into the sofa he was seated on.
"You think they'll go to The Roost as well beforehand?" Willow asked from his left.
"Yeah probably. Might as well go four for four there too while they're at it." Jaune said with a laugh before it tapered off as the nervousness came back and he turned back towards his wife.
"Think we should call them? You know to let them know?" Jaune asked before Team RWBY offered their opinion with a synchronised "Nah." Causing Jaune, Willow, and everyone else to laugh.
As the laughter calmed down the group heard a few honks coming from outside the house.
Jaune looked at the group before standing up and making his way over to the window to look outside to see the moving truck had arrived.
"Truck is here everyone. Time to get to work." Jaune shouted towards the group before opening the door and walking outside to the truck.
As Jaune got out there he saw the truck driver and gave a wave which he returned before yelling out that the keys were in the cab and walking towards the taxicab they had called.
After the truck driver closed the door to the taxicab, the car began driving off as the rest of the group came outside.
"Ready to get to work guys?" Jaune said as he began walking towards the back of the moving truck and opened the roll up door to reveal quite frankly not as much stuff as he might have even thought of.
"Yeah, I probably wouldn't have needed both teams here but it's good both came because of Nora and Ren taking off and then the whole Pyrrha and Winter thing. That's not even including the fact that I don't want Willow to do much due to her pregnancy." Jaune thought to himself before being dragged out of his thoughts by Yang.
"So this is it huh? Doesn't look like much, well as much as I expected anyway." Yang said as she slung an arm around the blond knight's shoulder.
"Yeah well I wasn't too sure and it is a good thing you girls came as well because half of my team just left and I think the other quarter is going to be busy being embarrassed during her grilling about her new relationship." Jaune said with a laugh as he shrugged off Yang's arm from his shoulder.
"Well, let's get to it." Jaune said as he began making his way into the back of the truck and started handing boxes to everyone that came up.
As the group was taking the boxes from Jaune and carrying them into the house different thoughts were going through everyone's minds.
Jaune and Willow were mainly thinking how Winter's unforeseen circumstances may actually turn out to be a good thing. Both for Winter and for Pyrrha, with Willow being more inclined in her thinking towards Winter and Jaune being more inclined towards Pyrrha.
Speaking of the newly-er weds in question, Winter's brain was jumping all over the place trying to make sense of this situation she found herself waking up into and trying to find the path that would be best for her and Pyrrha.
Pyrrha on the other hand was trying to just process this situation more. It was just less than 24 hours ago that she was crying her eyes out over the rejection from the boy she loved and now she found herself married to said boy's step-daughter. Who was older than her and the boy she liked who happened to be her wife's step-father which also made him her father-in-law. She didn't think this situation could get anymore confusing but somehow she knew it could.
Nora and Ren weren't really there with them dashing out and all but they were still processing the whole situation, well more or less anyways. You know as they were throwing back drinks. To be fair the duo was more so focused on the drinks that kept being placed in front of them but part of their minds were both thinking about Winter and Pyrrha.
Nora was more focused on keeping that in mind and using it as inspiration to keep on going and make sure she and Ren wound up drunk enough to wake up married.
Ren on the other hand was more so keeping them in mind so he knew who to make sure was taking care of them tomorrow during their hangovers as the cause of all this.
Back with the move in crew, Blake wasn't really thinking all that much about it. Sure she thought it was weird how half of the Schnee family now wound up drunkenly married and if Nora was going to be correct it would make for a whole huntsman team that got married to their spouses while drunk. But hey you only live once right?
Ruby was excited for Pyrrha knowing the girl had been broken-hearted over Jaune the night before. Whether this would help heal that or just distract her from it, she didn't really know but it wasn't her team so it was Jaune's problem, which he was also a part of and or a leading cause of. Yeah she didn't envy him with this problem but better him than her. It was about time team JNPR went through some drama of their own. Well besides the whole Jaune getting married drama part. She doubted they'd be getting detentions from any of this though like her team did for their usual shenanigans.
Weiss was coming to terms with this more as well as they moved what little was actually packed into the truck into the house. The fact that in the past few months, she'd gone to Beacon, passed initiation, wasn't named team leader in favor of a 15 year old girl, was hounded for a little bit by their sister team's leader before finding out he got drunkenly married to her mother after her father died of a heart attack, and then to put the cherry on top her sister got married, also drunkenly, to his partner. Oh yeah and to really top it all off her mother was almost killed by a terrorist organization, Jaune healed her and inadvertently turned back the clock for her body, which also led to her getting pregnant.
Weiss let out a sigh as she set down the last box they needed to carry in from the truck as all the thoughts raced through her mind and looked around at the rest of her teammates and her family members.
"So who's hungry for some takeout?" Jaune asked the group as he looked around at everyone else as well.
"I think that sounds like a lovely idea. How about we order some Mistralian takeout? Skadi recommended a place near here that she said was absolutely amazing." Willow said as she pulled out her scroll.
"General Tro's chicken for me with steamed rice." Jaune replied before looking around at his teammates and kicking off the orders before the ordering process got to Yang who was seemingly spaced out.
"Yang? Hello? Remnant to Yang." Ruby said as she waved her hand in front of her sister's face.
"Huh what?" Yang asked as she was pulled out of her daydreaming state.
"We're ordering takeout, Mistralian specifically. What do you want?" Ruby said as she withdrew her hand from in front of her sister's face.
"Oh uh King Pao chicken with noodles." Yang replied.
"Noted." Willow said as she added it to the order on her scroll and began the finishing part of the ordering process.
"So what had you all lost in thought sis?" Ruby asked as she turned back towards her sister.
"Well it was Weiss' family situation." Yang replied.
"It is definitely something to make you think on." Blake said as she put her own two lien into the conversation.
"No not that, I mean it is weird and it's definitely something to make you think about but I was specifically talking about Weiss although it's pretty related to that."
"Ok well what do you mean that you're thinking on then?" Jaune said as he looked at the other blonde of the group.
"The fact that Weiss is now the only non-married woman in her family." Yang said before adding something more. "Unless you have a little sister we don't know about."
"What are you saying that's a problem?" Weiss asked with a sharp tone in her voice.
"Nah calm down Weissy, I'm just making an observation. Although maybe if you partook of the fun juice or just pulled that stick outta your butt once in a while you might not be the only single one in your family." Yang said with a cheshire grin, clearly teasing Weiss.
"Hey!" Weiss said with an indignant tone. "I'll have you know I have more than these two here. I have a younger brother and he isn't seeing anyone, so I'm not the only single one."
"Actually Weiss, your brother Whitley is currently talking to someone. They've got plans to go on a date soon. This weekend if his texts were correct. Something about a fair, why I think it was here in Vale actually." Willow said, causing her youngest daughter to gasp.
"You mean, my younger brother is going to be seeing someone? So I really am the only single one left?" A shocked Weiss asked.
"Hey wait a minute." Yang said as she turned her attention from teasing Weiss and towards her sister. "Ruby, didn't you mention something about going to the fair this weekend?"
"I uh, well I mean, maybe? It's definitely just a coincidence though if I did." Ruby said with a small laugh as she nervously avoided looking at anyone's eyes and a faint blush crept up her face, causing Weiss' eyes narrowed at her team leader.
This caused everyone present to look on at the red cloaked girl in surprise.
"So Whitley finally asked huh? Good for him, I knew that pep talk I gave would help." Jaune said with a satisfied smile as all eyes snapped to him.
"What? He came to me for advice and I gave it like any good person, brother figure, or step-father would do." Jaune said.
"Honey, maybe you shouldn't have mentioned that part." Willow said as she placed a hand on one of his arms.
"Wait so let me get this straight." Blake said, turning to Jaune and, trying to stall the situation from escalating. "You mean to tell us that Weiss is now the only member of her family that is single because her mom got drunk and got married which led to you meeting Weiss' brother. Which then led to him meeting Ruby, and him going to you for a pep talk on relationship advice. In the meanwhile, you also told Pyrrha you couldn't accept her feelings due to the Arc's word/promise/vow thing, which then led to her and Winter going out for a night on the town and getting drunk and then winding up married."
"Sounds about right, yeah." Jaune said as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"Which then also has just led to the other non married half of your team going out to get absolutely plastered and then also get drunkenly married." Blake continued.
"Yeah that just about sums it all up." Jaune said with a nervous smile.
"Ugh, what a headache to follow." Blake said as she rubbed her temple. "You know what, I'm just not going to think about it too hard. When's the food getting here?"
Looks like our driver is almost here." Willow said as she turned her scroll around and showed the rest of the group.
"Wow, that was fast." Ruby said in response as she saw the blinking red dot making its way down the street towards them on the map.
"Well the shop is literally just a couple of minutes down the street by car. You could probably get here even quicker by bike with lane splitting and the bike lanes available." Willow said as she watched the red dot make the final turn towards their address.
"I guess I'll go set the table then." Jaune said as he moved towards the kitchen to begin setting down the dinnerware.
"Since he's doing that, one of you all should probably be the ones to get the door when they arrive with the food. One of the non famous people, just in case people start talking." Willow said as she glanced at Blake, Ruby, and Yang.
"I'll do it." Yang said enthusiastically, a little too enthusiastic for Willow's taste and apparently that sentiment was shared amongst the other members of her team as Blake cut in.
"No Yang, I'll go do it. Why don't you see what drinks they have here and get those lest you scar the poor delivery person, be they boy, girl, man, or woman."
"Hey! I'm not that bad." Yang cried defiantly.
"No but your puns are." Ruby and Weiss said at the same time causing Yang to groan and the rest of the group to laugh.
After the delivery boy showed up Blake gave him the tip handed to her by Willow, and brought the food inside before placing it down on the kitchen table that had been set with plates, glasses, and silverware in something reminiscent of a buffet style.
"I figure since there's probably too many of us to comfortably fit at this table we can grab our stuff and eat wherever there's an open chair." Jaune said to the group before everyone got their dinnerware and dinner.
After everyone had gotten their food and found a seat Yang was the first to speak.
"So are we just going to gloss over the fact that Ruby, my weapon obsessed, shy, socially awkward sister, has a date with the younger brother of her partner?"
"Thanks for the encouragement Yang." Ruby said as she gave Yang an angry stare.
"No, I was choosing to not bring it up and add more chaos to this already chaotic day. Plus it's too confusing to think about." Blake said as she took another bite.
"Hey if all goes well maybe you can invite him to the dance sis, then we can all interrogate, I mean meet him." Yang teased.
"Yang that's my son you're talking about, don't be too overly cruel." Willow said / warned as she stared at the blonde huntress in training.
"He's my brother too so I'd appreciate it if you didn't traumatize him as well." Weiss said as she looked towards her blonde teammate.
"And he is technically my step-son so yeah, what they said." Jaune reiterated before he too took another bite of his dinner before it dawned on him.
"Oh crap the dance, that's just a few days away." Jaune said before he turned to his left and looked at Willow, his wife. A wife he hadn't asked to go to the dance with yet. A wife that might turn heads if they show up together. A wife that might not like him going to a dance with someone else. And a wife whom he wouldn't want to take anyone else to the dance over.
"Hey Willow," Jaune said nervously as he set his plate down and got up from his seat.
"Yes Jaune?" Willow said coyly as she put down her own plate and turned to him.
Jaune looked at her for a second before steeling his resolve and moving the one or two steps needed to towards her before dropping down on one knee and taking her hand. "Would you do me the honor of accompanying me to the dance?" Jaune asked with a nervous smile.
"Hmmm, I don't know, you're not really my type." Willow teased with a broad smile before saying her actual answer. "Of course you big dummy, I would love nothing more than to accompany you." Willow said with a sincere smile as she placed a hand on his own and heard a gagging sound coming from across from her.
"Now Weiss dear, it's not very polite to gag like that in front of guests." Willow said as she teased her own daughter.
"I thought it was sweet." Ruby said as she decided to add her own input.
"Ugh you would." Weiss said before looking around and seeing the same expression on everyone else's face as she did on Ruby's. "Oh come on, all of you liked that?"
"Looks like it, dear daughter of mine." Willow said before turning to her new daughter-in-law. "So Pyrrha will you be taking Winter to the dance as well and making this a whole family affair?"
"Uh, I hadn't thought about that yet but if you're not working then I guess that would be a good idea? Are you working that night?" Pyrrha asked as she turned to Winter.
"I can't say for sure yet but I'll make sure I get the time off regardless." Winter said.
"See to it Winter, and if not I can always make some rather firm suggestions to the general that he should give his subordinates some more time off to spend with their families." Willow said with a sly smile as she and the rest of the group heard the dialing sound of a scroll call.
"Hey Whitley, there's a dance at Beacon coming up and all of your family is attending with their dates, so I wanted to know if you wanted to come with me and go as well. You do? Great. Yeah just come to my dorm to pick me up, you can ask me or Jaune if you can't remember and need directions. Alright see you later." Ruby said as she hung up the call and looked around at everyone staring at her.
"What? The rest of you are going so it only makes sense he should get to go too." Ruby said, causing a few of them to laugh, while Weiss looked like she sucked on a lemon after seeing her younger brother's relationship with her team leader and partner materialize before her eyes.
Yang looked like she didn't know whether to be proud of her for coming out of her shell a little bit more or if she wanted to go into protective big sister mode.
A/N: Decided to cut it here since it seemed like a better place to stop instead of after the more serious event I have planned for the crew before the dance so anyway I'll just end it here. Sorry about the slow update but now that I've settled in and actually finally unpacked after a month and gotten through the new rounds of training update should come faster as the story draws down to a close. See you all next time!
