Chapter 35: Return To Veilstone City! Fighting Through Team Galactic HQ!
After reaching the safe house on the south end of Route 227, and Michael deciding to use the portable PC to save everyone time from needlessly stopping at the Pokémon Center so he could send Heatran home, Glaceon was allowed to recover from the tough battle for a bit. Due to how late it was once the party reached the Survival Area, the party spent the night in the Pokémon Center, then quickly had breakfast the following morning before they quickly sped off towards Team Galactic's HQ in Veilstone City. Soon the party finally arrived back in Veilstone City after another day of trekking, spending the night in Celestic Town.
Twilight - "So where do we go first Michael?"
Michael - "Good question Twilight."
Michael then crouched down and placed a hand to the ground, using his aura to find the best path forward. After a few moments, he stood back up.
Michael - "This way. Follow me."
The party walked through Veilstone City, reaching the entrance of Team Galactic's HQ. Suddenly, Looker appeared.
Looker - "Ah-hah! You leave this to me! I just so happen to have the Storage Key for Team Galactic's hideout right here. Sure, a frontal assault on their hideout isn't possible right now. But we can still enter it through the back way."
Michael - "Good to know Looker. We have our own reasons for entering the hideout as well."
Looker - "Very well. Now let us enter Team Galactic's warehouse."
Michael - "One sec though."
Cynthia - "What is it Michael?'
Michael - "Due to how big our current party is, it'd be better if we split up for the time being."
Twilight - "So a small number of us will join you and Looker, while I'm guessing the rest go to Mt. Coronet and stall Teams Galactic and Neo Plasma for the time being?"
Michael - "Hit the nail on the head Twilight. Ok. Joining me and Looker will be: Cynthia, Mars, Candice, Clair, Flannery, and Whitney. Everyone will head to Mt. Coronet and stall for as long as possible. Twilight, Ruby, Weiss. You three are in charge of the stall group."
Twilight/Ruby/Weiss - "Right!"
Michael - "Now let's move ladies! Operation Stall And Free is a go!"
Girls - "Yes sir!"
As the party spilt up, Looker silently admitted at how impressed he was at Michael's leadership.
Looker - "I do have to give young Michael credit where it's do. Despite his age, he's a natural-born leader. And the way he just communicates with Pokémon. It's incredible."
Soon Michael's small party, along with Looker, arrived at the warehouse.
Michael - "Ok Looker. Go ahead and use the Storage Key."
Looker - "Of course."
Looker used the Storage Key, which caused the door to open.
Looker - "I shall go on ahead, my friends. You all stay safe."
Cynthia - "You do the same Looker."
As Looker entered through the warehouse, Clair noticed that Michael was frowning.
Clair - "You ok there Michael?"
Michael - "I'm fine Clair. It's just that something tells me I might not like what we discover while running to free the Lake Trio."
Flannery - "It mainly has to do with what caused you to become a Pokémon, doesn't it?"
Michael sighed before answering.
Michael - "To be completely honest, yes, it does. But I know I'll you girls and the others to support me through it all."
The girls hugged Michael, letting him know that they were there for him.
Mars - "We're all here for you Michael. No matter what."
Michael - "Thanks girls. I feel a lot better now. Now let's get moving and assist Looker."
Girls - "Right!"
Soon the small party of seven entered the warehouse as well. As they made their way through the back entrance of Team Galactic's HQ, they suddenly came across a familiar problem.
Flannery - "Seriously?! Warp panels again?!"
Michael - "At least it's fun trying to figure out where they connect to in the building."
Flannery - "I still hate them though…"
Whitney - "Not much choice here Flannery."
Clair - "Whitney's right. We have to use them to search further into the building, along with catching up to Looker."
Flannery hung her head in defeat.
Flannery - "Fine…"
Mars - "You have a problem with warp panels sis?"
Michael - "It's more to do with how annoying they were when we had to assault Team Aqua's base back in Lilycove City. Even I'll admit the warp panel puzzles were annoyingly tedious."
Mars - "Perhaps I can convince Saturn to get rid of them after all of this is over."
After going through a few of the warp panels and stairwells, Michael party found themselves back in the warehouse. But this time they found a special key card.
Michael - "Hey Cynthia. Didn't one of the grunts mention a special key card being needed to be able to get further into their HQ?"
Cynthia - "One of them did. Why do you ask?"
Michael - "Cause I think I just found the aforementioned key card."
Mars - "May I see it?"
Michael handed the key card to Mars, who examined it thoroughly before handing it back to Michael."
Mars - "Yep that it's alright. The Galactic Key. With it, we can now go wherever we want to in here."
Candice - "Sweet! Then let's get back to the main building and start making our way to Cyrus' office!"
Michael - "My thoughts exactly Candice."
Before going to the main building, Michael and the girls quickly looked around in case they somehow missed something. After finding nothing, they quickly made their way into the main building's front doors. After making through some of the main building, Michael's small party finally found Looker.
Michael - "Psst. Looker."
Looker turned to see Michael and his group slowly crouch walking over to him.
Looker - "You all are seeing this, aren't you?"
Clair - "We are. Cynthia. You or Mars have any idea what's going on here?"
Mars - "I do. Cyrus, Ghetsis, and Volo are gonna give their bloody speech about how the three of them, N, and all of Teams Galactic and Neo Plasma are gonna create a better world for themselves. But we all know that's nothing but an outright lie."
Michael - "Finish that thought later Mars. The speech is starting."
Everyone then turned their focus as Cyrus, Ghetsis, and Volo took the stage.
Cyrus - "Fellow members of Team Galactic and Neo Team Plasma! Hear me! My name, as I appear to you today, is Cyrus. This world of ours is a crude one. In a word, it is incomplete. It has been, and always will be, a struggle to survive in this world. We humans and Pokémon are likewise incomplete. Because we are all so lacking, we fight, we maim... It is ugly. I hate the incompleteness. That we are all incomplete, I hate it with my entire body and being. The world should be complete. The world must change. Then, who will change it? We, Cyrus, Ghetsis, and Volo. And all of Teams Galactic and Neo Plasma. Yes, all of us. Together we pored over myths and exposed their secrets. Together we captured legendary Pokémon. And now, Teams Galactic and Neo Plasma have obtained the energy to change the world! The power of dreams is within our grasp! Understand it, fellow members! Our long-held dreamworld is on the verge of becoming reality. All those headed to Mt. Coronet, and those who remain here... Though our missions may differ, our hearts beat as one. Let there be glory for Teams Galactic and Neo Plasma!"
Ghetsis - "If Volo and I may be allowed to add a few words Cyrus?"
Cyrus - "Go right ahead my dear Ghetsis."
Ghetsis - "Would you to speak first Volo?'
Volo - "You first Ghetsis my good man."
Ghetsis - "Very well then. My name is Ghetsis. I am here representing Team Plasma. Today, ladies and gentlemen, I would like to talk to you about Pokémon liberation. I'm sure most of you believe that we humans and Pokémon are partners that have come to live together because we want and need each other. However... Is that really the truth? Have you ever considered that perhaps we humans... only assume that this is the truth? Pokémon are subject to the selfish commands of trainers… They get pushed around when they are our "partners" at work... Can anyone say with confidence that there is no truth in what I'm saying? Now, ladies and gentlemen, Pokémon are different from humans. They are living beings that contain unknown potential. They are living beings from whom we humans have much to learn. Tell me, what is our responsibility toward these wonderful beings called Pokémon? That's right! We must liberate the Pokémon! Then, and only then, will humans and Pokémon truly be equals. Everyone, I end my words here today by imploring you to consider the relationship between people and Pokémon... and the correct way to proceed. We sincerely appreciate your attention."
Volo - "Now I know I'm not a team leader like these two. But what I can say is this. Regardless of whoever stands in our way, we WILL take them down and we WILL be victorious!"
Soon the speech was over, with everyone filing out.
Michael - "So that's their plans…"
Cynthia - "What do you mean by that Michael?"
Michael - "You'll find out soon enough. Anyway, let's continue to Cyrus' office. What are you gonna do Looker?"
Looker - "I think I'll go do some research for now. I'm quite curious to discover just what Cyrus and Ghetsis were talking about."
Michael - "Good luck in your searching then."
While Looker left, Michael and the girls continued on their way through Team Galactic's HQ. Soon they finally arrived at Cyrus' office, finding him, Ghetsis, and Volo inside.
Cyrus - "...So you've all come. You heard our speech, I take it."
Mars - "An obvious lie, of course!"
Cyrus - "It's true though, insofar as our combined intentions is to create a new world. But that world isn't for the likes of Teams Galactic and Neo Plasma. We seek an entirely new world solely for ourselves. If not, it could never be the complete and perfect world. You've seen our minions of Teams Galactic and Neo Plasma. You all must know that they are uniformly useless and incomplete. We know why you're all here. We can sense it in you. It's about Lord Uxie, Lady Mesprit, and Lord Azelf, correct? You want to save them... We no longer have any need for them. We are finished with them. If your hearts ache to save them, go right ahead. We couldn't care less. It will save us the trouble of disposing them."
Michael - "So it's just like I thought. The three of you are nothing more than a trio of heartless bastards that'll use everyone AND everything to get what you want."
Ghetsis - "Say whatever you want, you annoying brat. As far as I can tell, you and your little friends are nothing more than a bunch of annoying thorns in our sides."
Cynthia - "Oh really? Then you might as well tell us your reasons Ghetsis."
Ghetsis - "No choice then since Cyrus already did it. The truth is this... The black/white dragon appeared before a hero who sought the ideal/true way to knit together a world full of warring people. This black/white Dragon-Type Pokémon shared its knowledge-and bared its fangs at those who stood against it. Together, the power of this Pokémon and the hero brought unity to the hearts of everyone in the land, and that is how Unova was created. We shall bring back the hero and that Pokémon to Unova once again! If we can win people's hearts and minds, we can easily create the world that I-I mean, Team Plasma-desires! It looks like everyone is here. It seems you are working hard to resurrect Reshiram/Zekrom, the other Dragon-type Pokémon, aren't you? But it appears the Light Stone/Dark Stone you seek is not here. Well then, congratulations are in order! Michael, you were chosen by our king. If you truly desire to keep the world as it is, where Pokémon live alongside people, you must bring the other Dragon-type Pokémon spoken of in legend and battle with our king. Otherwise, Team Plasma will steal every Pokémon from every person in the world and release them all! It is my lord N's thought that the two holders of the legendary Pokémon should put their beliefs on the line and strive to find which is the true hero. This is not necessary, however. From his infancy, I provided him with the education required to become the hero of legend. Indeed, he has been so acknowledged by the legendary Pokémon. ...Such purity of purpose is his. The liberation of Pokémon of which I... Of which Team Plasma speaks is the separation of Pokémon from foolish people! That's the truth! All Trainers will become helpless to resist us! We alone will be able to use Pokémon! The preparations are complete! When my perfect plan is set in motion, first a few gullible Pokémon Trainers who are unable to resist Team Plasma will release their Pokémon. Then that number will become a hundred, then a thousand... In no time, even the Gym Leaders and the Champion will become unable to fight us. Having a Pokémon will be considered a bad thing! Everyone will be unable to face public opinion and will release their Pokémon! That's the kind of world we'll make! You may have the Stone, but there's no chance whatsoever that the legendary Pokémon will accept you as the hero. So, if you're not willing to hand over your precious Pokémon, I suggest you search for some courage- because you're going to need it!"
Cynthia then turned to Volo.
Cynthia - "And you dear 'brother'?"
Volo - "The only thing that I truly care about.. Is getting the power to overthrow Lady Arceus. Once she's been knocked from her throne, I'll have all the power I need to help Cyrus and Ghetsis with their plans. The three of us will be-"
But then Volo stopped speaking mid-sentence. His eyes were full of fear as he suddenly gazed at Michael, whose aura was leaking out of every pore in his body.
Volo - "It can't be… This power… Is it her's…?"
After a few tense moments, Michael was finally able to get his powers under control.
Michael - "What the hell was that? I've never lost control of my powers like that before."
Cyrus then spoke again.
Cyrus - "However, I alone must say Michael... You're a remarkable specimen. Those Pokémon have nothing to do with you and your friends, do they? But still you all came to rescue them out of pity? Such pitifully useless emotions... It's illogical and irrational. Pity and compassion are products of the weak and faulty human heart. You were compelled to come here by such vacuous sentimentality! I will make you regret paying heed to your heart! Go Weavile!"
Michael - "Say what you want Cyrus. I'll happily put you in your place for talking such a big game. Boltund I choose you!"
Michael then activated his Battle Disk, which caused an aura to surround Cyrus' Weavile.

Cyrus - "I see, Michael. You are indeed strong. And the basis of your power is your compassion toward Pokémon. ...How wasteful... Such emotions are but mere illusions. And, like all illusions, they fade over time until death banishes them forever. That is why I have abandoned all emotions as useless sentimentality. ...But that doesn't matter. I doubt you or your friends will ever understand my position. That said, I recognize that you alone are strong and courageous to come here. Despite all of that though, your efforts will be in vain. Unlike you Trainers, I don't make Pokémon my friends or partners. Unlike other Team Galactic, as well as Neo Team Plasma members, I don't use Pokémon as tools. Instead, I make the power of Pokémon my own. If you wish to save the Pokémon from the lakes, take the warp panel ahead. I am off to Mt. Coronet. That's correct. Mt. Coronet. Where you and I first met face-to-face. I will ascend the mountain to its peak and put an end to everything... No. I will bring about a new beginning for everything..."
The trio of Cyrus, Ghetsis, and Volo then left the room. None of the girls noticed, but Michael was clenching his fists in complete anger.
Michael - "I REFUSE to let those three get away with what they're doing! I WILL stop them, even if it costs me my own life!"
Once the trio of villains were truly gone, Michael's group of seven quickly went around the office, looking for anything that would put those three in prison for life. Clair then found something on the computer along the back wall.
Michael - "What'd you find Clair?"
Clair - "Not sure this would count as evidence against them. But it looks to be research notes about what at least Cyrus was planning to do."
The group of seven then began reading the research data.
Mars - "So Cyrus plans on using the Red Chain not to capture Lord Dialga and Lord Palkia, but just to use their powers?"
Michael - "That's 100% correct Mars. Like I stated some time ago, the Red Chain is what's used to force the powers of Lord Dialga and Lord Palkia to bend to the user's will."
Whitney - "So then that's why Cyrus made two Red Chain's, right? Cause he figured that even if we did free the Lake Trio and they were able to stop the one Red Chain, Cyrus could still use the other Red Chain to do whatever he wants."
Michael - "Couldn't have put that any better myself Whitney. But let's keep moving, the Lake Trio haven't been freed yet."
Girls - "Right!"
As the girls went to get whatever they could use to incriminate Cyrus, Flannery picked up a single file that said "Operation Pokémon Soul".
Flannery - "Uh Michael. You may want to take a look at this."
Michael walked over and took the file from Flannery. The girls watched as Michael's eyes went wide saw the file's name. He then opened the file and skimmed it a bit, then closed it and placed it under his arm.
Michael - "Cynthia, Mars. I'm guessing the both of you have read this file already?"
Cynthia - "We both skimmed through it actually."
Mars - "Yeah we never really bothered to read it properly at the time cause I had decided to quit Team Galactic while Cynthia dumped Cyrus."
Michael - "That's fair. But when we do reunite with everyone else, I intend for you all to read this file. As for now, let's get the rest of the legal dirt on Cyrus."
Soon the party of seven resumed their search to find anything to put away Cyrus. Once they checked everything, they made their way to an underground lab. Reaching the deepest part of the lab, Michael and the girls found the Lake Trio trapped inside machines, while Saturn and N were guarding the central controls.
Michael - "N! Saturn! Back away from that control monitor now!"
Saturn - "You... You came all the way here just to save some Pokémon? ...Though it's nothing new, I can't say I understand our boss... Why would he let a kid like you come and go freely...? We, Team Galactic, take all that we need, and eliminate what we do not. But anyway. You've taken the trouble to come. Let me welcome you! Consider it payback for your insulting me at the lake. Go Bronzong!"
Michael - "Incineroar I choose you!"
Michael then activated his Battle Disk, which caused an aura to surround Saturn's Bronzong.

It is said that when they lost their physical form, they fell into a slumber and were transformed. Now, they wait for the hero's arrival... I shall resurrect a legendary Dragon-Type Pokémon from one of these stones, and become its friend. That will show the world that I am the new hero. Everyone will follow what I say! My vision is to change the world without using force. Trying to change the world by force will just make others resist. If people resist, the ones that will be hurt are the innocent Pokémon used by foolish Trainers. You understand. Pokémon are not just tools for people to use! As a result... Pokémon and Trainers who care about one another, like you and your Pokémon, will be separated. And that does break my heart a little."
Saturn - "As for my loss. Fine then... Do whatever you want with those three Pokémon. Press the button on that machine to set them free. Isn't that why you came? Our boss crafted a Red Chain from crystals he took from the three Pokémon. That Red Chain is what he needed to shackle something on Mt. Coronet. It's also apparently needed for creating something. But that's all I know. Who knows what he's planning to do up there. Come along N. We might as well join Cyrus, Volo, and your father."
Saturn and N then left the lab. Once they were gone, Michael walked over and pressed the button on the central console, which freed the Lake Trio.
Mesprit - "We're finally free!"
Azelf - "Thanks for finally freeing us from those metal prisons Michael. We were feeling very trapped in them."
Michael - "Happy to help you three out. Cynthia. You and the girls go wait outside for me. There's something I want to confirm first before we head for Mt. Coronet."
