Hadrian's Pov
The rest of the day passed fairly quickly, it was dodgeball in gym, and it ended up being Edward and I were the last ones in, against one another, coach called the game when the last bell of the day rang.
"That was a good game." Edward commented from behind me, I pulled my polo shirt down and picked my jumper up and tied it around my waist before leaning down to grab my bag by its strap
"I would have liked to see the outcome, I might have actually beat you." I swung my bag up onto my shoulder and turned to face him, he had a surprised look on his face
"You thought you would have beat me in dodgeball?" I shrugged
"Possible, but more likely it would have ended in a draw." He chuckled and we started to head to the door, following the crowd of students out of the building and into the car park
(Some of the students think we are together) Edward thought to me, I looked up at him
{Are you seriously reading peoples thoughts about us?} He shrugged
(I can't help it, I can't control who I listen to I just hear everything, don't you?) I frowned and grabbed a hold of his arm, I then pulled him over to my car and unlocked it
{Get in.} he frowned but climbed into the passenger seat, I growled at the over powering thoughts from the students and turned to glare at them, as soon as they spotted me, they turned and climbed into their own cars
(Have you finished scaring the students now?) I turned back to my car to see Edward with an amused look on his face looking at me through the window. I sighed and climbed into the driver's seat
"Have fun?" He asked with a grin
"What do you mean you can't control your mind reading? You should be able to turn it off." He huffed and turned to watch the cars out the window
"Ever since I was turned, I've been able to hear people thoughts, I've never been able to turn it off, it's a gift and a curse." He turned to look at me "What about you?"
"I can hear thoughts, if they're overpowering enough and focused on me, but I can turn mine off, and communicate with non-mind readers minds."
"How do you turn yours off?"
"I put up a wall to stop it."
"A Wall?"
"A mental one, it's a way of controlling your mind and emotions, like you can only catch my surface thoughts correct?" he nodded slowly "That's because I've blocked away everything else away to keep my mind safe."
"But why would it be unsafe? And how did you learn to do this?" I smiled sadly
"That's something I can't tell you right now, I have to meet with some people first."
"But why?" I sighed
"There are some secrets about my family and myself, I need to talk this through with them before I tell you anything."
"But-"
"As soon as I have permission from all of them, I promise I will tell you and I promise I will help you." He gave me a long searching look, before finally nodding
"Alright, I best get going, my family and I are going out to hunt tonight." I nod
"I'll see you tomorrow." He nodded and climbed out of the car. He shut the door and moved across the car park to his car, where his family was stood waiting, I sighed and moved my bag to the passenger seat, I then buckled in and started the car. I pulled out of the car park and turned off down the road, I caught sight of Edwards Silver Volvo pulling out behind me and quickly sped off behind me, pulling up close before overtaking and speeding down the road. I shook my head and continued on my journey home.
I pulled into my garage and shut off the car. I grabbed my bag and climbed out, only to be greeted by Remus who was stood in the doorway leading to the house holding the remote to the garage door. The garage door slid shut and Remus gave me a sad look
"Why the long face Remus?" He sighed
"I didn't want to upset him, or hurt him Harry, you have to understand that." I gave him a long look, before shrugging
"It's not my business Remus, you and Sirius are having a lovers quarrel, who am I to butt into that?"
"So, you did know that we were together?" I grinned at him
"To say you two are wizards and know plenty of spells, you weren't very quiet, especially with my vampire hearing." Remus blushed
"So, Sirius was right, you did know about us." I nodded
"Yeah, I kinda thought you two were together before you moved over here, or at least you had strong feelings for one another." Remus sighed and rubbed a hand over his face
"I've been really stupid, haven't I?" I shrugged
"That's not up to me to decide Remus, but I know that Teddy is smart, and we both know he gets what he wants most of the time, we all loved Tonks, he was his mother and Teddy will know his mother, but Teddy wants Sirius to be his papa, but if you try and change his mind I'll confuse him, especially when he's seen you two together."
"I know, Sirius and I are all he's known for the past few months, I don't want to confuse him."
"But you two arguing will confuse him Remus, he wont understand what's going on, all hell know is that the person he sees as his papa, is gone." Remus sighed
"I can't do anything about that, he's gone to oversee the trial." I nodded
"I know, for now we can help the Cullens with their little problem." He nodded and I shut my car door, I locked my car and headed into the house after Remus, we walked into the living room to see Teddy curled up asleep on a mat in his play pen, cuddling his grim like dog plush, I spotted Remus sad look, before he pulled out his wand. He cast a monitoring charm and then headed into the kitchen, I set my bag down at the bottom of the stair and followed him into the kitchen, I found him making a cup of tea "Merlin, I miss drinking tea." Remus chuckled
"And eating treacle tart I bet." I nodded vigorously
"Definitely, when is the ministry representative arriving?" Remus glance up at the clock
"In about ten minutes, I was lucky to get anyone out at all, this was the only slot they had available." I nodded
"That's okay." Suddenly I heard the Floo go off in the living room where Teddy was sleeping "Are we expecting anyone other than the ministry representative?" Remus shook his head
"No why?"
"The Floo's just gone off." Remus nodded
"Stay here." I shrug
"I wouldn't go anywhere else." He chuckled and headed out of the kitchen, I listened closely
"Hello. Remus Lupin here."
"Ah, Mr Lupin, you requested an audience from the American Ministry of Magic, we've had a cancellation, would now be an okay time for your meeting? I can send someone through straight away."
((Harry, Harry, I know you're listening, is now an okay time? Are you prepared?))
{Yes Remus, now is fine, I'm ready}
"Ah, Yes now is okay too, they'll have to be quiet though. My son is down for a nap in his play pen." Remus said to them
"I'll be sure to tell them, thank you for your time." I heard the Floo Connection cut out, then it flared to life again as some stepped through
"Greetings Mr Lupin, I'm Auror Dan Bentham." Auror Bentham greeted quietly
"Thank you for coming so quickly we have an inquiry that we would like to run past you." Remus Responded
"We?" Auror Bentham asked, and I focused on his thought
(I don't sense anyone else in the house, unless they are No-maj, then Mr Lupin might be violating our laws) I frowned at his line of thought
"Let's move this into the kitchen, my godson is waiting in there for us."
"Very well." I heard them move out of living room and into the kitchen, I looked at the doorway as Remus walking in followed by Auror Bentham, who froze upon seeing me "Mr Potter, you're alive? We received notice from the British ministry of Magic that you had died in a potions accident." I scoffed
"It wasn't an accident, trust me, it's the reason Ronald Weasley is on trail from murder." Remus growled
"But you're not dead, that's fraud." Auror Bentham stated, I then used my vampiric speed to run across the room and appear in front on him
"Are you sure I'm not dead? Cast a diagnostic spell on me, every Auror knows that spell, tell me what it tells you." Auror raised an eyebrow at me and pulled out his wand. He cast the diagnostic spell and his eyes widened "You're a Vampire, but you still retain your magic." I nodded
"Hence the reason I faked my own death in Britain, I'm sure your ministry received notice of my being here, Gringotts will have informed you." Auror Bentham frowned and put his wand away
"I'll have to check that, but never the less, welcome to America." He welcomed
"Thank you."
"Now what can I help you with?" Auror Bentham asked, Remus gestured to the dining table and we moved to sit at the table
"I've found my mate, here in Forks, he is a vampire also, but a muggle, No-Maj Vampire." Auror Bentham smiled
"Congratulations." He said
"Not really, since I can't claim my Mate." Auror Bentham frowned and Remus stood
"I'll make some Tea, Harry do you want a blood Pop?" Remus asked, I nodded
"Yes, thank you Remus."
"Thank You Mr Lupin, Now Mr Potter-"
"It's Hadrian Potter-Black, please call me Hadrian." He nodded
"Hadrian then, please explain why you cannot claim your mate, it is your right as a Vampire to claim your mate is it not?" I nodded
"It is, unfortunately My mate found his Singer first, at first the was willing to keep a distance from her, but something happened that drew him in, and they were dating for a short time."
"And this girl, your mate's Singer is a No-Maj?" I nodded
"Yes, he tried to break the relationship off nicely, but she found out what he and his family were."
"Let me guess, she wants to be just like them, live forever and have the beauty for a life time?" I shrugged
"Something like that, when my mate refused, she threated to expose him and his family, if he continued to try and break it off with her and refuse to change her."
"That is a problem, revealing vampires to the No-Maj would create mass panic, and we certainly wouldn't be able to rectify the situation before it spread by word of mouth."
"So, I thought by speaking to the ministry, we could come up with a solution before a problem even arise."
"Well, you did the right thing, this No-Maj holds a fair amount of power over this Vampire Coven and she probably knows it too, so, what did you have in mind?" Auror Bentham asked, looking intrigued
"I thought about maybe a memory charm, or an oath of some kind to keep her from saying anything."
"Would it perhaps be better for her to forget about this information, does your mate know about your magic?" Remus scoffed as he returned to the table, he set two mugs down, he then handed me a blood Pop
"Harry didn't want to tell his Mate about Magic until he had confirmation from the ministry and had a set plan for his mates singer." Remus said sitting back down in his seat, Auror Bentham Smiled and nodded to Remus
"Not only that, the reason I left Britain was because people wanted to control me and my magic, isn't it just fair for me to be wary?"
"Thank you for this Mr Lupin, now Hadrian, I do understand your wariness, and I can assure you, I will speak to the correct people in the American Ministry, and I will make sure you have our protection." I gave him a shocked look
"Really?" he nodded
"We're a lot different from the British Ministry, you can count on us to help you, should you ever need us to, when you defeated Voldemort, not only did you save Britain from his reign, but the whole world, we owe you a great deal."
"I didn't know that."
"Ministries from all over the world should have sent you messages of congratulations and alliance offers; I know our Ministry did." Auror Bentham commented, frowning, I shook my head
"I never received anything like that, but then again, Dumbledore was withholding all my mail, I might have to speak to the Goblins." Auror Bentham nodded
"That sounds like a good idea, but for the current situation, is the No-Maj Singer here in Forks?"
"Not at the moment, my mate says she's staying with her mother for a little while, I'm not sure when she's due back." He nodded
"Alright then, our next step would be to meet with your mate and their family, do you think you could set that up?"
"The whole family?" he shrugged
"Your mate and his Sire, plus the Coven leader would be good too, that should cover the basics, how soon could you set that up?" I frowned and thought for a moment
"If needs be, I could probably get them round now if you needed me to."
"Sooner the better, we get them prepared for what's to come." I nodded
"I'll go call him." Auror Bentham nodded and I stood from my chair and headed into the back garden, I pulled out my phone and dialled Edward's number, he picked up pretty quickly
-Hadrian? I thought you were busy tonight?-
"I technically still am, but its to do with us and your Singer."
-What? Why would your business be discussing that? -
"Look, I really don't want to explain this over the phone, A, its not ideal and B, its kinda of hard to explain unless its in person."
-Do I need to come over?-
"Please, but you need to bring your Coven leader and Sire too." I heard him chuckle
-Hadrian, Carlisle is my Sire, but I'll bring him, we'll be over soon-
"Come to the back door, I'm stood outside waiting."
-Be there soon- then the line went dead, I shoved my phone away and waited. It wasn't long until felt the wards being bypassed. Then Edward appeared in front of me with Carlisle
"Hello Hadrian." Carlisle greeted
"Hello Carlisle, right inside my house I have a guest, and I believe he could help you with your Singer problem."
"How do you think you can help us Hadrian?" Edward asked
"At this moment we're a little bit desperate, with Bella being in Arizona with her mum for the moment, it buys us a bit of time to figure something out." Carlisle explained
"But we've come up with nothing." Edward stated
"So, anything you can offer will help a great deal." Carlisle said, I nodded
"Please come inside." They both nodded and I led them inside the house, through the back door. Remus and Auror Bentham stood from their seats at the table
"Ah, this is your mate and their Sire correct?" Auror Bentham asked, I suddenly felt Edwards thoughts directed at me
((You told him? You told him that we were vampires?)) I turned and look him straight in the eye
"Everything will be explained Edward, please both of you sit down at the table."
"But-"
"He knows about me being a vampire too." I suddenly heard Teddy whimper and turned to look at Remus. "Remus, Teddy is about to wake up, he's whimpering." Remus nodded and hurried from the kitchen, I gestured to the table "Please you two, sit down." They both moved over to the table and sat down, Auror Bentham followed suit.
"Thank you for coming so quickly." Auror Bentham said to Carlisle, who nodded
"Hadrian says you might be able to help us?" Carlisle asked, Auror Bentham nodded
"I will be able to help you, give you a sort of protection actually."
"How's that? I can't see anything in your mind apart from lingering thoughts." Edward said, Auror Bentham smiled
"You're a mind reader, you don't have any control over it do you?" Auror Bentham asked, Edward shook his head "Hadrian should be able to help you with that." I nodded as Edward looked at me
"He is the person you needed to discuss this with?" I nodded
"I'd already spoken with Remus and Sirius about it, I just needed permission from the ministry."
"The ministry of what?" Carlisle asked, looking between Auror Bentham and me
"The ministry of Magic." Auror Bentham responded as Remus came back into the kitchen carrying a sleepy Teddy
"You're all wizards? Even you Hadrian?" Carlisle asked, Edward gave me a curious look
"All Wizards, even me, I was born a wizard and was turned at the end of the War."
"War? What War?" Edward demanded.
