Thank you for waiting so long. We are very happy to present this next chapter. The one some of you might have been waiting for. Though this one changes the course of the entire story, even if it doesn't seem like it. So sit tight, and enjoy.
Thank you. And also, shout out to Choejhulk9. They are my (Elemental Drift) favorite fanfic writer, and I hope you will all read from them.
BTW Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan own Glee and all these characters.
Adams Basement
Wade, or Unique if you will, selects the song "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" by Beyoncé on her iPod. She, Sugar, and Marley perform the song in leotards with Rory there to record it. Unique asked if they wanted to hang out prior to this, and although Sugar didn't know she was a transgender woman and they weren't close, Unique still felt like they could become good friends, and wanted to get to know her better before telling her. And it turns out that this isn't even the first time that Sugar has done this type of dance. She's actually a big fan of Beyoncé and was able to help Marley learn the Choreography. It was very interesting.
Suddenly a hand pushes a button and stops the music. It is Unique's mother and father, Betty and Rob Adams. They gaze disapprovingly at what is taking place before him.
"Mom, Dad! You're home early." Unique greeted them nervously.
"There was something going on at work so we had to leave. What are you wearing?" Betty A. asked.
"It's a leotard. People wear them when they want to work out. Really puts up a sweat." Unique lies.
"Yeah, all the guys in football wear them. They're jock chic." Sugar added. "Wade's on the football team now. He's the kicker."
"Yeah. Sugar and Marley were just helping me out." Unique said, slightly glaring at Sugar.
"Hmm. Good to hear that you're extending yourself Wade." Rob compliments.
Unique chuckles awkwardly. She hasn't told her parents the truth yet.
"So one of you two is his girlfriend?" Betty A. asked.
Unique is taken aback by the question. "Uh, n-no mom. I am very single. Not ready for that kind of thing yet."
"Alright, just keep the music down. We're trying to watch a movie." The two then start to walk back upstairs, but Rob stops to ask Unique something. "And hey, Unique. Be sure to get me a ticket to your first game."
Unique nods feverishly. HHeris grin disappears once he realizes the mess she is in. After her parents close the door, she turns to Sugar with a glare. "Football?! Really?"
Sugar shrugs. "Well what else was I supposed to say? You were in a leotard."
"Just say we're exercising, not that I joined the damn football team."
"Right. My bad, but not all is lost. We can just get you into the football team."
"Tryouts are already over. How are we gonna do that?" Marley asked.
"I can help." They turn and see Rory sitting on the couch, who they actually forgot was there?
"Huh?" Marley and the others also didn't know he had any connections to the team. Wasn't he bullied by them not too long ago?
"I joined the football team recently. I was trying to join the real football team, but forgot you Americans call it soccer. So, I accidentally joined American Football, but I'm actually pretty good, and they don't make fun of me half as much anymore."
"So how does that help us?" Unique asks.
"I can get you in. I'll need Ryder's help to do it, but I think we can pull it off."
Unique sighs. She would prefer not to be on the team at all, but this will at least help her keep up the lie. She can just quit after a while if she gets in anyway.
choir room
The next day, Mr. Schue is passing out sheet music to the now fully formed Glee Club, namely Harmony, Ryder, Unique, Blaine, Marley, Joe, Betty, Jake, Kitty, Bree, Sugar, Rory. Though, the two lovebirds of the group, Ryder and Kitty seem to be distant and Jake is just as silent.
He passes out their parts for the song Tonight, from West Side Story. After inspecting the sheet for a minute, Marley finds a problem.
"Excuse me, I think you gave me the wrong sheet." Marley told him. Mr Schue checked and then shaked his head.
"Nope. You're good." Mr Schue then gave the pages to everyone else.
"No, this is the main part.
"Yep. You're doing the solo."
"I'm sorry, there must be some sort of mix up. I don't think I'm ready for that."
"Well, I'm trying to shake things up a bit. Get us out of our boxes."
"But shouldn't you be using some of the other voices? Harmony loves musicals, let her sing it."
"You know, normally I would agree, but I feel like this would be good for you. You've seemed pretty down lately." Harmony mentioned. "I think this will really help you out."
Though Harmony was being nice, inside she is disappointed that she didn't get this solo. West Side Story is one of her favorite musicals of all time, and feels kind of left out, especially after losing Don't Stop Believin'.
"Congratulations, Marley. This is going well." Unique and Betty congratulate Marley for getting the solo. She tries to come off as grateful, but inside she feels really nervous. After she felt like she was gaining weight, she started feeling really bad for herself. And to add to her own personal weakness of her nerves, she really wasn't sure she could handle this.
All of the club members have left except for Ryder and Unique who are on their way out.
"Ryder? I needed to ask you something."
"Thanks, but I already have a date to the prom. But I'm flattered! I know how important dances are to teen gays. At least according to Blaine."
"Oh. I'm not gay." Unique said, though it had a tone that confused Ryder.
"Oh. Wait, why'd you say it like that?" Ryder asked.
"Like what?" Unique furrowed her eyes.
"Like, the way you said it was like you aren't gay, but in a way that told me I wasn't right, but I was on the right track. Are you saying you're bi or something?"
"No, I just… I needed a favor."
Football field
The football team is practicing and doing drills under the supervision of Ken.
Ryder and Unique are standing on the field nearby. Ryder is dressed in his football jersey and is stretching before practice. Unique is dressed in a red sweatshirt and has a blue headband in his hair. Unique is holding a football helmet. She seems unsettled, so Ryder tries to help out.
"Just relax, okay? You just need to relax, and remember your training." Ryder told her.
"What training?" Unique asked.
"The few minutes of last minute practice that went surprisingly well." Unique laughs at that response. "Just put your helmet on." Ryder helps Unique put the football helmet on, much to Unique's distaste. "Alright. Already looking the part."
"Thank you for helping me with this, Ryder. You're really cool."
"Well, I owe Rory a favor. Plus, I figure, the more crossover between Glee and football, the easier my life's gonna be."
Unique begins to walk away.
"Woah. Woah, woah, where are you going?"
"To get my music ready."
"Wait, I thought that was just for practice. You can't use it now."
"Well I am. I'm sorry Ryder, but my body is like a rum chocolate soufflé. If I don't warm it up right, it doesn't rise. If I'm doing this, I'm doing it my way." Unique walks away to get her music ready, leaving the confused Ryder.
"What's a soufflé?"
Coach Tanaka blows his whistle, gathering everybody's attention. "Everybody take a knee." The team surroundsCoach Tanaka and waits for him to speak. "Six games. Our kicker, Mr. Langenthaal, is zero for twelve in field goal attempts. As most of you statistically minded people know, THAT SUCKS!" He yells harshly at the kicker. "So Mr. Langenthaal will thusly be in charge of hydration services. The next player that can get a football between those uprights will get his job."
Unique makes her way through the crowd of football players. "Hi, I'm Wade Adams, and I'll be auditioning for the role of kicker."
Several football players laugh, and Unique looks at them in disgust. Ryder nods his head in support.
Unique makes her way to the center of the field with a stereo CD player, and Ryder walks by his side with a football. Ryder puts the football down and holds it for Unique. Unique turns the stereo on and "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" plays. Unique dances to the music. Unique kicks the football and it goes all the way through the uprights at a high velocity. Unique takes off his helmet as Coach Tanaka rushes up to him.
"That was good, right?" Unique asks.
"Uh, heck yeah that is! You basically just made the team." Ryder congratulates her.
Coach Tanaka runs up to Unique. "Can you do that with the game on the line and ten gorillas bearing down on you wanting nothing more than to taste your sweet virgin blood?"
"Uh, yes? I guess so… Can I bring my music?"
"If you kick like that, you can wear a tutu, for all I care!" The Coach then turns her to the rest of the team. "Gentlemen! We have found ourselves a kicker!"
Unique waves to the football team.
In the hallway, Kitty is at her locker, visibly distraught with tears running down her face. Ryder is approaching and calling her name, but she ignores him and walks down the hallway.
"Kitty, hey, what's going on? We haven't talked in weeks since the whole Dakota Stanley thing happened."
Kitty stops in a corridor, not finding the will to keep this a secret anymore.
"What's wrong?"
"I'm pregnant." Kitty tells him in tears.
Ryder is now lost in his own mind, shocked that his girlfriend was pregnant. How did it even happen? They never… you know
"Is it mine?" Ryder asks.
Kitty didn't reply however. Because she didn't want to lie, and the truth hurt too much.
"So it's not mine." Ryder said disappointed.
"I'm so sorry."
"How… How could you do this to me? And all because I didn't agree with you?"
"No! I would never do that to you. I love you Ry." She tried to explain and took his hand, which he retracted.
"Don't!"
Kitty looks down. "I know you might want to punch me in the face, but I didn't do it to hurt you. I just really don't want to lose what we have."
"We don't have anything. I'm not gonna punch you in the face. But I'm also not gonna talk to you ever again."
"Wait, Ryder, just let me explain!" Kitty pleaded.
"You've said enough." Ryder turned and walked away in anger and disappointment. But most of all, heartbreak.
Kitty just stood there for a few minutes, sobbing and crying from losing her love.
Harmony walks after classes and sees something on the bulletin board. She approaches it, interested in a flyer that she sees. It reads "Be a LEAD in our High School Musical! Audition for CABARET! Must audition with a song of your choice." She realizes that this is her chance to have another expressive outlet. She hasn't been able to sing in a while, so having this might be her way. She just needs a good song. Luckily, she has some friends she made in the NYADA mixer last year, and they put together a number that would be perfect for this. She just needed to call her fellow Hopefuls.
Auditorium
Harmony walks onto the stage with her fellow NYADA Hopefuls behind the curtains. She turned to face the director, who was surprisingly revealed to be Sandy Ryerson, the former Glee Coach who was fired for inappropriate touching. "Uh, I'm sorry, I thought you were fired."
"I was, but then I was re-hired and placed in charge of the arts. Now you may begin."
"Uh. I'm Harmony Pearce, and I'll be singing a mash-up of Anything Goes and Anything You Can Do. Stand back, relax, and most importantly, enjoy." She then signalled for the curtains to be opened and performed the mash-up with her friends.
Harmony:
Times have changed,
And we've often rewound the clock,
Since the Puritans got a shock,
When they landed on Plymouth Rock.
If today, any shock they should try to stem,
'Stead of landing on Plymouth Rock,
Plymouth Rock would land on them.
Harmony with NYADA Hopefuls:
In olden days a glimpse of stocking
Was looked on as something shocking,
But now God knows, Anything Goes.
Good authors too who once knew better words,
Now only use four letter words
Writing prose, Anything Goes.
Harmony (NYADA Hopefuls):
Anything you can be, I can be greater
Sooner or later, I'm greater than you (No, you're not)
Yes, I am (No, you're not)
Yes, I am (No, you're not!)
Yes, I am (No)
Yes, I am! (No!)
NYADA Hopefuls (Harmony):
The world has gone mad today
And good's bad today,
And black's white today,
And day's night today,
When most guys today
That women prize today
Are just silly gigolos
Any note you can hold
I can hold longer (I can hold any note longer than you)
No, you can't (Yes, I can)
No, you can't (Yes, I can)
No, you can't (Yes, I can
Harmony:
Yes, I
NYADA Hopefuls:
In olden days a glimpse of stocking
Was looked on as something shocking,
But now, God knows,
Anything Goes.
Harmony (NYADA Hopefuls):
Yes! (No!)
I (You!)
Can! (Can't)
NYADA Hopefuls:
Anything goes!
She ended it with a puff of smoke in the middle of the stage as everyone posed.
"Wow." Sandy said.
"Thank you." Harmony nodded for the rest of her group to leave, and they waved her goodbye as they exited stage left. "So what's next?"
"Congratulations, Miss Sally Bowles. You have just landed the lead." Sandy told her.
Harmony is extremely happy. She puts her hands on her mouth and jumps up and down, excitedly.
Dance studio
Harmony, dressed in tights and a leotard, is stretching and practicing ballet. Mr Schue is there, talking to her. Suffice to say, he wasn't happy with her decision.
"Why did you join the play?"
"An opportunity arose for me to showcase my talents and I took it. How is that any different from when you quit Glee to form your boy band?" Harmony defended.
"Because I didn't do it out of spite."
"I'm offended by that accusation. I've always been a team player. I didn't do it because of the solo. I've just been blue lately and I'm just trying to cheer myself up."
"So you're not upset that I gave the song to Marley?" Mr Schue asked, and Harmony's defenses went cold.
"Okay, yes. I was disappointed that you didn't have me in mind for that song when I'm a shoe-in for it.
"We need everyone to think that they're a star or they'll either slack off or get bored."
"I know. That's why I didn't fight over the solo. Plus, Marley feels the same. She's been struggling with something, and I'm hoping this will distract her or at least tear her walls a bit so she'll tell us about it. But that doesn't mean that I have to give up my own happiness. This way, everyone's happy." Harmony is now packing up her belongings and getting ready to leave. "Trust me, this will be fine."
Harmony: Everyone on the team is getting something out of being there. You're doing a great job at getting them out of their shells. Except for me. I'm still getting my lipstick flushed down the toilet… I still don't have a boyfriend. Marley's great, but why do you have to hurt me to make her feel good?
"Just come to rehearsal." Mr Schue said.
Harmony nods and turns and exits the dance studio, pensive.
Auditorium:
Marley is singing "Tonight" from West Side Story on stage. Mr Schue is at the side of the stage, encouraging her.
Marley:
Tonight, tonight
It all began tonight
I saw you and the world went away
Tonight, tonight
There's only you tonight
What you are, what you do, what you say
Today, all day I had the feeling
A miracle would happen
I know now I was right
For here you are
And what was just a world is a star
Tonight
{Things are going great, but Marley gets nervous and blows the last note of the song. Mr. Schue comes over to her, clapping.}
"That was great, Marley. Good job!"
"Sorry. I'm just a little nervous and I just couldn't hack it. I can't do this." She tries to leave, but Mr. Schue stops her.
"Hey, hey, look at me. Have you noticed the more you sing, the more confident you get?" Marley smiles at this. "Hey… I need you to be great at Regionals. To do that, you've got to know that you can do this."
"You have to give this song to Harmony. She's better than me."
"Maybe she is, but you're just as talented. Your voice is amazing, and according to Wade, you even write your own music. You just need to let the artist in you shine. You do that, and nothing can stop you."
Marley smiled at the kind words of her teacher. "Thank you Mr. Schue. But, I have to go now." Marley grabs her bag, turns and exits the Auditorium, leaving Mr. Schue on stage.
A very grievous Ryder walks past Marley to Mr. Schue. "Hey, Ryder. What's up?"
Ryder tries to find the words to explain his feelings about Kitty's pregnancy and cheating, but he simply cannot. Instead, he cries on Mr. Schue's shoulder as he hugs him. "Hey, it's okay."
He sobs for a moment before finally telling what happened. "Kitty cheated on me."
Restaurant
Mr. Schue and Ryder are at a restaurant. They are going down the salad bar.
"Thanks a lot for this, Mr. Schue. Couldn't talk to my mom, you know?"
"So how far along is she?"
"I don't know. Uh, a couple weeks, maybe? It's pretty recent, I guess. I just don't get it. How could she cheat on me like that?"
"Well, maybe it's not like that. Maybe she was attacked." Mr. Schue said, which caused Ryder to look at him with widened eyes. "Or not. Maybe she just cheated."
"Now I hope it's cheating. Or it's just that I'm a jerk."
"Hey, you're not a jerk. You're just upset that someone is having a baby with your girlfriend. No one will think less of you for that."
Ryder sighs. "It doesn't matter now. I can't even look at her right now." Mr. Schue and Ryder sit down at their table with their food. "But thinking about it got me thinking. I've seen the guys around town who had kids in high school. They work here or at the supermarket or pumping gas… or worse. They're caged. Got no future. And thinking that Kitty is going to be like that makes me wonder about myself. I can't let that happen. And the best way to avoid that is with football."
"What does that have to do with me?"
"Remember when we were working on that Acafella stuff and you helped me and Jake with the dancing? You helped us relax. That's the football team's problem! I figured it out, watching Wade kick those field goals. He's so relaxed he can dance in front of the football team. I read in this audiobook that Walter Payton was a great dancer. In college, he won dance competitions on "Soul Train" and he took ballet lessons, and he even got the whole Bears team to take them the year they won the Super Bowl. That's how they came up with the Super Bowl Shuffle.
"Alright, let me just get this straight. You want me to teach the football team how to dance? Eh… I don't think Coach Tanaka will go for that."
"We'll talk him into it. Look, this won't just help me. You know that Jake's pulling away and Rory's still new. If we get this to work, it won't just help me out, it'll help them trust you. Maybe even stick around for Regionals." Mr Schue nods to this idea.
"Eat up." He tells him.
Boys' Locker Room
The entire football team, Coach Tanaka, and Mr Schue are in the locker room. Karofsky slams his locker door closed.
"What do you mean we're dancing?" Karofsky asks angrily.
"Yeah, this is garbage!" Azimio agrees. "We're taking coaching advice from Lance Bass now?"
Unique frowns in distaste at them.
"Guys. Guys! Athletes are performers, just like singers and dancers. I mean, think about it. Jim Brown, Dick Butkus…"
Rory laughs at that last name. "Buttkus."
"OJ." Ryder said, ignoring Rory's remark.
"OJ. Right. All pretty tough guys; all of them had big careers as performers. Now, I don't think you guys are losing because you don't have the talent. You're losing because you don't have the right attitude. Think about it. If you can sing and dance in front of people, everything else is easy."
"Coach, come on. Back us up here and tell Mr Schue we're not doing a stupid dance routine." Karofsky pleads.
"I'm down with it. I mean, heck, what do we got to lose? We gave up our pride when we lost to that school for the deaf."
"He's right. Not about the pride thing. I mean we have nothing to lose. Besides, this gives us the element of surprise. If someone started dancing in front of me, I'd be distracted." Unique adds.
Coach Tanaka blows his high-pitched whistle. "Okay, too much talking, and not enough stretching. In the Choir Room in full pads in five. That's five minutes. Let's go!"
Later, the football team, in full uniform, is standing in the Choir Room under the supervision of Coach Tanaka And Mr Schue. Mr Schue tries to teach them basic dance moves to the rhythm of the piano.
The team is mediocre at attempting these moves, Rory especially included, with the exception of Ryder and Jake since they're trained dancers. Mr. Schue blows Ken's whistle.
"That's good, guys. Your hips are still a little tight. Okay? It's just like you're playing football. It's all about the lateral movements. Just stay low, and…" Unique attempts to interject. "Watch Wade."
Unique attempts to teach the team the choreography to "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)". It is a bit better than the last attempt, but it still could use work.
Coach Tanaka blows his whistle loudly. "Okay, that's enough for today, gentlemen. We'll…work on it. Just hit the showers."
Jake and Ryder are walking out of the football team's dance rehearsal in the Choir Room. Ryder looks exhausted and worried. Jake, out of concern, taps his best friend's shoulder.
"Bro, something's up. I can tell. What's wrong?" Jake asks.
"Nothing. I just got a lot on my mind." Ryder tries to dismiss it.
"I'm serious. Something is clearly bothering you. Just tell me what's going on."
"It's personal." Jake sighs and grabs Ryder by the hand and stops him.
"Dude. I'm here for you."
Ryder sighs from sadness before confessing.
"Kitty's pregnant. But it's not mine. She cheated on me." Ryder notices Jake's eyes twitching at that. "Wait did you know?"
Jake stares for a second before looking down in shame. "I'm so sorry. It was a mistake."
"Oh my god." Ryder was completely shocked by this. His girlfriend not only had an affair, but with his best friend?
"Dude, just let me explain." Jake looks up and grabs his shoulder to ease him, but Ryder slaps it away.
"Get away from me!" Ryder sprints away in tears.
Kitty is walking down another hallway, carrying her books. She looks worried, just like Ryder did previously. Jake comes out of a corridor.
"Hey."
"Leave me alone."
Kitty continues walking, but Jake follows after her.
"I know about what happened. I also know that you didn't tell Ryder who the father really is."
"How did you even find out about it?" Kitty asks.
"Because Ryder told me. He was really upset when I told him it was me.
"So am I." Kitty tries to leave again, but Jake continues to persist.
"Look, I'm not just gonna ignore this. My dad's a deadbeat but I don't roll that way."
"Well maybe you should. It was a mistake."
"I know, but don't pin this on me, I was just as drunk as you were and on any other day I wouldn't have done it."
"Neither would I, but because of you, I lost two of the things I hold sacred. My virginity and Ryder."
"That's why I think we should explain to Ryder. Then he won't be mad at us anymore because clearly it wasn't really our fault."
"Wasn't it? I see the way you look at me, and to be honest I kind of liked it. But I never did anything because I love Ryder. And now that even if I don't have him I don't want you. You're a Lima loser and you're always gonna be a Lima loser." Kitty runs down the hallway, overcome with emotion as Jake watches with grief.
Jake:
Let me hold you for the last time
It's the last chance to feel again
But you broke me
Now I can't feel anything
{Ryder is walking across the field in his casual clothing in sadness}
Ryder:
When I love you, it's so untrue
I can't even convince myself
When I'm speaking
It's the voice of someone else
Jake and Ryder:
Oh, it tears me up
I tried to hold on but it hurts too much
I tried to forgive but it's not enough
To make it all okay
{Kitty is standing in the middle of the indoor field in Cheerleading practice, but doesn't move a muscle}
Kitty:
You can't play on broken strings
You can't feel anything
That your heart don't want to feel
I can't tell you something that ain't real
Jake:
Oh, it tears me up
I tried to hold on but it hurts too much
I tried to forgive but it's not enough
To make it all okay
Kitty:
You can't play on broken strings
You can't feel anything
That your heart don't want to feel
I can't tell you something that ain't real
Ryder:
Oh, the truth hurts and lies worse
So how can I give anymore
When I love you a little less than before?
Jake and Kitty:
But we're running through the fire
When there's nothing left to save
It's like chasing the very last train
When we both know it's too late, too late
Jake, Kitty and Ryder:
You can't play on broken strings
You can't feel anything
That your heart don't want to feel
I can't tell you something that ain't real
Oh, the truth hurts and lies worse
How can I give anymore
When I love you a little less than before?
Jake:
Oh, you know that I love you a little less than before
Let me hold you for the last time
It's the last chance to feel again
The three went in separate ways, all upset from what happened
It is pouring down rain outside. Kitty comes running to her car. She is crying. She opens the car door, sits down in the driver seat, and sobs for a few seconds before she is interrupted by a voice. Terri Schuester, Will Schuester's wife, is sitting in the passenger seat.
"How many weeks are you? From the looks of you, I'd say no more than five or six. I assume you haven't told your parents yet. I mean, how could you? After Daddy bought you this car so you could drive him to the Chastity Ball. You can't raise this baby, Kitty."
"Who the hell are you?!" Kitty asks.
"I'm just somebody who wants to help."
"And I want you to get the hell out of my car!"
"Really? What kind of prenatal vitamins are you taking?"
Kitty has no response to this question. Terri goes searching through her purse and pulls out a bottle of prenatal vitamins.
"Yeah. Here. Three times a day, or your baby will be ugly."
"I don't understand. What do you want from me?"
Terri stares at her for a moment, confusing Kitty even more. The response she got was something she never expected.
Football Field
It is the night of the football team. Cheerleaders, including Kitty and Bree, are cheering. The Glee Club watches from the bleachers since three of them are on the team.
"The Star-Spangled Banner" begins to play over the intercom and people stand up.
The football team, including Jake, Ryder, Unique, and Rory, is standing on the side of the field, preparing for the game.
"Well, I think we, uh, really came together this week as a team." Ryder said.
"Yeah, a gay team. A big gay team of dancing gays." Karofsky retorted.
Unique is visibly unhappy after hearing Karofsky homophobic remark. "Screw you Karofsky."
"Seriously, Ryder. It was fun in practice and all, but we can't do that out here in front of everybody! It'll make us even more of a joke." One player, Nick, they believed, protested.
Unique looks at Ryder as if to say "Do something!", but the team heads out to the field and puts their helmets on and Ryder just gives an apologetic look.
"Divert right. Eighty-seven on one. Break."
"Break!"
The Referee blows his whistle to signal the official start of the game. A guy from the other team yells at Ryder. "Yo, QB! Your momma's so fat, the back of her neck looks like a pack of hot dogs. Give me some ketchup!"
Ryder ignores the rude player's remark. "Down, set, hut!"
The team does very badly in the first Tanaka and the crowd are disappointed.
"Punch and Judy on one, break!"
Again, the team fails. Tanaka is frustrated.
"Come on!" He said.
Rob and Betty make his way up the bleachers. Seeing them, Unique waves at them for a moment before turning away to stretch, not wanting to embarrass herself, or them.
The timer resumes counting down. Ryder's mind is racing. He sees Kitty, Unique, and Mr. Schue. With one second remaining, he pauses the game. "Time out!" After the referee whistles, Ryder then goes to Jake and Rory. "Guys. We gotta do it." He said, referring to the dance.
"Dude, the team will never go for it. People will think we're losers."
"I said it before, we already are! If we do this we might win, so it doesn't matter."
Rory shrugs. "People don't like us anyway thanks to Glee Club. Whether we do this or not, people will still treat us the same unless we win."
Jake thinks about it for a moment. Two things, one, he's glad that Ryder was talking to him again, two, he's got a point. If they're gonna be losers either way, might as well do something that will make them win. "Let's do this."
Ryder nods and starts a huddle with the entire team. "Come on, huddle up! Huddle up! Okay. "Ring On It" on three. Yeah. Alright? Come on! On three! One, two, three, break!"
"BREAK!" The team at first is hesitant, but they do agree to dancing.
"Hut, one, two, three. Let's hit it!" Ryder makes a motion, and suddenly "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" is playing over the intercom. The whole football team dances to the song, much to the disbelief of Rob, Betty A., and the opposing team. "Hike!"
Ryder passes the football to Rory, who makes it all the way to the end of the field. Coach Tanaka and the entire crowd are extremely pleased. The score is tied, 6 to 6. They actually have a chance now.
Coach Tanaka looks at Unique. "You're up, kid. You make this and we win. You make this and you die a legend."
"Well, I doubt that but here I go." Unique makes her way to the center of the field. Unique makes a motion with his hand. A short portion of "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" again plays over the intercom. Unique dances for a few seconds, and then kicks the ball and makes the field goal.
The referee blows his whistle. The game is over, and the Titans have won. All thanks to Unique. Rob and Betty A. go crazy in the crowd.
"That's our kid! That's our kid down there!" Rob and Betty cheer the loudest for Unique.
Rory smiles and is suddenly tackled by the proud Sugar in a hug, which he swiftly returns.
Cut to: Int. Adams Basement.
Unique is sitting at a mirror, spraying her face with some sort of skin care product. She proceeds to work at her skin with a pink sponge. Rob and Betty A. walk down the stairs and greet her.
"Nighttime skin care is a big part of my post-game ritual."
"We just wanted to say that we're proud of you." Rob told her.
"And that we were happy to see you win." Betty said.
"Thanks."
The parents turn to go away, but Unique stops them. She has something he wants to say. "Guys? I…have something that I wanna say. I'm glad that you're proud of me, but I don't wanna live a lie anymore. Being a part of the Glee Club and football has really shown me that I can be anything, and… what I am… is… I'm a girl."
"We know." They both say in unison.
"Really?"
"Yeah. Most little boys don't want to dress as Shirley Hemphill for Halloween. I mean, it's just so specific."
Unique slapped her face. "Dang it."
"No, it's okay. We're fine with it. Though, I admit it took a few years to adjust, we are more than happy to have a daughter instead of a son." Betty assured her.
"Wait, so you're not mad?"
Rob brings Unique in close for a hug. "Of course not. What kind of parents would we be for being mad at you for being who you are."
Unique starts to cry. "I just didn't want to disappoint you guys. I love you both so much."
Betty joins the hug. "Oh, we love you too Wade." They hug but then Betty pulls back awkwardly. "Wait, we probably shouldn't say Wade, should we?"
Unique shakes her head. "Unique would be quaint."
"Unique. I like it." Rob said, approvingly, bringing a large smile to Unique's face. Now she just needs to find a way to tell the rest of her friends about it.
Kitty is standing at her locker when she gets a text from Ryder to meet at the astronomy class.
She quickly goes, seeing that this was her chance to finally talk to Ryder. She made it there shortly and saw Jake was inside. She opened the door and walked to him. "What are you doing here?"
"Same as you. Got a text from Ryder."
"Glad you made it." Ryder enters the room. "I called you here because I had a talk with Mr. Schue about it, and I have to know. Why? How?"
Jake sighs. "It wasn't exactly planned."
Kitty steps forward to begin. "I was having a bad week. We were fighting and Coach Sylvester was mad at me and Bree. So I was at Lisa's party drinking, and Jake was there too. Jake was getting picked on because someone on the team found out he was taking ballet lessons. We talked, and the next thing I knew, I was lying next to Jake in Lisa's guest room. We didn't mean to do it. We were both drunk and upset, and the only thing that came to our minds was to do that, but I still love you, and I don't want to be with him."
Ryder started to tear up while hearing this story. He knew it wasn't their fault, but he still couldn't forgive them so quickly. "I'm so sorry I yelled at you. But I can't look at you like I did before. I just wish things could go back to normal, but I just can't. Things aren't that simple anymore, and honestly, I always felt like we didn't have a real chance to last."
"That's not true." Kitty denies.
"Yes, it is. I'm sorry but I can be with you. But I will help you. Both of you." He turned to face Jake. "I'll keep this up for appearance's sake. You need that right now. I'm sorry I can't forgive you this fast."
Jake nods. "Thanks."
"Just tell me one thing. When it happened, did you feel something? Anything."
Kitty stood there for a moment, not sure what to say. But she knew in her heart that it was true. "Yes." A part of her did it because she and Jake had feelings for each other. "I'm so sorry."
"It's okay." Ryder nods. "I'm sorry too." Ryder walks away but on the way, he grabs Jake's shoulder. "Be good to her." He leaves the room.
Kitty stands there in tears. She just got dumped, really dumped by Ryder. It was the worst feeling she ever had. Jake walks up to her and gives her the most supporting hug he can muster, trying to be strong and keep his tears inside, but he just can't help due to feeling the tears in his chest. They cry for what feels like hours before calming down and leaving for Glee.
Choir Room
The three
Will walks in the door. The entire Glee Club is already present. "Alright, let's start today with "Tonight" from West Side Story. Marley, show us what you got."
Blaine raises his hand. "Wait, shouldn't we wait for Harmony?"
Will looks slightly upset. "Harmony's going to be in the school musical. She's gonna be busy for a while, and she'll have to miss a few rehearsals, and the Invitationals. Sorry guys, basically, Harmony's gone." The club looked shocked to hear that. They needed Harmony, and if she can't make invitationals, they won't be as good, and who knows if she'll make it to Sectionals?
What can they do?

Thank you for reading this Fanfic. Just so you know, we don't plan on making Harmony exactly like Rachel. She will struggle, but she'll struggle when it's fair. Honestly, it was unfair when Rachel was denied the original songs, but when Quinn said it everyone was on board. But don't worry, things will work out the way we feel is right. Our intention isn't just the give the spotlight back to the newbies, but to fix flaws in the original story that didn't age well. Of course, many of the decisions will be based on the show, but there will be significant changes that will make it memorable like Harmony staying in the Club despite not getting the solo or Kitty and Ryder breaking up. Trust us, and you will enjoy this.
Fun Fact: Broken Strings was planned to be sung by Finn, Rachel, Puck, and Quinn.
See ya'll next time.
Drift and Emma Out.
