"So, where do ya wanna go now?" Swizzle asked as he jumped and spun around to face Richard. They stood just outside the entrance to Dance Dance.
Richard glanced up at the towering station, his eyes skimming over the various game signs. "Hmm," he murmured, squinting at the glowing letters. "Maybe…" His gaze landed on Tapper's. "Maybe I could go for a root beer. Dance Dance tired me out, I need sugar,"
Swizzle let out a loud laugh. "Yeah, no kidding! You were terrible at that game!" He smirked, "I mean, you disappointed Yuni!" Swizzle shook his head. Richard had tried multiple times after that, and just exhausted himself.
Richard rolled his eyes. "Oh shush..." He giggled.
A little while later, the pair sat in Tapper's, the cozy bar-game filled with the hum of conversation. Richard leaned back on the bench, digging into his pocket. "I've still got some leftover coins Ryu gave me earlier," he said, eyeing Tapper as he worked the counter, serving drinks to other characters.
Tapper caught sight of them once he finished serving. "Afternoon, boys," he greeted with a grin, sliding their drinks down the bar with practiced precision. "You're here early4?"
"Yup!" Swizzle smiled. "Just taking advantage of our breaks with this storm,"
"Tell me about it," Tapper replied, pouring another drink. "Ain't bad to get some downtime from players pounding the buttons all day."
Richard took his drink and sipped it. "Thanks, Tapper," Then, turning to Swizzle, he asked, "Wait…so you guys don't get breaks? Like…ever?"
Swizzle rolled his eyes, "Of course we do silly~," He said, nudging Richard's shoulder. "When the arcade closes at night, we either hang out with others, grab a drink at Tappers, and then call it a night,"
Richard gripped his glass. "But that's it? Just at night?" He thought for a moment. " maybe when I get back, I can convince Grandpa to close on weekends or something."
Swizzle gasped, "Rich, you can't do that!" He said, shaking his head, "That's when the arcade is the most busy! Kids wouldn't be able to come here anymore," Swizzle then chuckled. "You wouldn't come here to play—cause, I know you got school," he said while sipping his soda.
"Oh, right." Richard groaned. "Honestly, after all this, I'm not sure I can stomach playing games when I get back…" He trailed off, muttering mostly to himself.
Leaning over the table, he added, "Okay, maybe I'll ask him to close on Wednesdays. Nobody really shows up on that day."
"Well, that'll be more sensible than closing on a weekend," Swizzle let out a giggle.
Richard grinned, taking another sip.
"So... earlier, you said something about you making videos?" Swizzle asked. "You didn't carry on with it. It was yesterday,"
"Videos?" Richard blinked, confused, until realization dawned. "Oh, yeah! I post on YouTube. Well…used to. I'm switching to BuzzTube soon."
"I remember you saying that," Swizzle nodded. "Why would you move?"
Richard shrugged. "BuzzTube is more layed back on their guidelines, and they give creators more money than YouTube,"
Swizzle nodded. "Oh, they sound better then," He looked at Richard. "So... Can I see one?" He turned to Richard, placing his hands together. "Please?" He smiled cutely.
Richard blushed, "I'd love too, but... my phone still doesn't have any service—," He heard an 'aww,' come from Swizzle. "And it's..." He looked at his phone, "...still at 80 percent for some reason—weird,"
Then he quickly remembered, "Wait, Oh! I have one or two of my videos saved to my phone we can watch!"
Swizzle gasped, his face lighting up. "Yes! Show me!"
For the next hour, Swizzle couldn't stop laughing as he watched one of the videos Richard was showing him. He was laughing so much, Richard was beginning to wish he never showed him. His giggles were too cute, and it was making him embarrassed.
"Oh, sugar!" Swizzle wheezed, clutching his stomach."How do the characters in these games keep a straight face at the stuff you say? Console Characters are built different, I swear! We Arcade Characters could never,"
He turned to Richard, eyes still sparkling. "So what game was this again?"
Richard rubbed the back of his neck. "Outer Wilds," he said.
"Okay," Richard's voice came from the video, "the sun wasn't that red before. What's going on?" On screen, his ship zipped through space toward a green planet. "Okay, just gotta—"
Then, music started to play, Richard's eyes widened in the video. "Wait. Why did the music just... when... huh?"
Swizzle chuckled and leaned against Richard's shoulder, making the human blush even more. "Yeah, why did the music just kick in like that?"
"Okay," video-Richard muttered as his ship approached Brittle Hollow, "just gotta head over here—wait, why does this music sound like the soundtrack to my doom?" No sooner, the red sun in the corner of the screen began to shrink. Richard tilted the ship slightly, and the sun imploded into a tiny speck before—
BOOM. The sun exploded in a massive, growing blue sphere.
An over-the-top dramatic sound effect played as video-Richard stared blankly at the incoming supernova. "Oh. Oh, I dead. Oh, I'm gone. It's over, It's... it's Supernover."
Swizzle burst into giggles, practically falling out of his chair. "What the heck was that word?!"
Richard groaned, covering his face with both hands. "Oh my god, I say the weirdest stuff. This is what happens when you watch too many YouTubers—my humor is a hot mess."
"I like it," Swizzle said with a grin. "How come you never talked like this when you played Sugar Rush?"
Richard shrugged. "I probably would if the arcade were empty when I came here. No way I'm embarrassing myself in front of the other kids."
Swizzle snorted at that.
Richard chuckled. "What, you want me to make a fool out of myself while I play Sugar Rush?"
Swizzle quickly shook his head, giggling. "Nuh-uh! You'd make me and the rest of the racers die of laughter!"
"I am going to do that the second I go back~," Richard teased, giggling, thinking about the three boy's reaction to him using his YouTube humor while playing the arcades. "It'll be priceless,"
"Oh my god, please no!" Swizzle giggled, his voice cracking adorably.
At that moment, Gloyd and Rancis entered Tapper's. "Afternoon, boys," Tapper greeted as they walked in.
"Hey, Tapper!" Gloyd chirped in his sweet voice. His gaze quickly landed on Richard and Swizzle sitting together. With a mischievous grin, Gloyd bolted over to them.
Richard yelped in surprise as the cartoon boy with a mellowcreme hat leapt into the seat beside him. Reflexively, Richard grabbed onto Swizzle, who laughed at the sudden chaos. Gloyd froze, staring at Richard with wide eyes.
Richard hesitantly looked back at him.
And then Gloyd burst out laughing.
"Gloyd, why'd you scare him like that?" Rancis asked as he approached the table, shaking his head.
"That's was so hilarious!" Gloyd laughed loudly. "Oh my gosh!"
Swizzle snickered. "Seriously, why'd you grab me like that?"
Rancis sipped his rootbeer, and looked at the human. He snickered then looked back over at Swizzle. "At least his finger didn't impale your belly button like he did with me," he said with a smirk.
Richard groaned, immediately covering his face.
Gloyd giggled. "Yeah, what's up with that? Are you some kind of weirdo or something?" He nudged Richard's arm playfully. "A little weirdo with a belly button thing?"
"Shut up," Richard groaned, slamming his head onto the table. "I don't..."
As Richard lied there, his head on the table, he felt someone poking his cheek. Looking to his left, he saw Gloyd giggling cutely, his fingers repeatedly pushing his finger into his left cheek.
"G-Gloyd..." Richard whined.
The mellowcreme boy giggled. "Yeah, what? I can't get over your soft... bumpy cheek,"
"Stop teasing me about my acne," Richard grumbled, hiding his face again. "You guys are lucky you don't get them."
Gloyd smiled and suddenly hugged him tight. "Hey, I think it looks cute on you!"
Richard just froze, his face completely red from Gloyd hugging him like this.
Swizzle, still amused, leaned into Richard's other side. "You guys have got to see this guy's videos. He's hilarious!"
"Nooo," Richard groaned, even more embarrassed.
Rancis glanced down at the phone on the table. "I wanna see," he said calmly.
Then Gloyd blurted out, "Yeah! ME TOO!" Which was the complete opposite of Rancis's calm voice. He shook Richard's shoulder playfully as he said this.
"Okay, okay! Geez!" Richard laughed.
Gloyd cheered, leaning over to kiss Richard's cheek.
Blushing furiously. He picked up his phone. He had only about a dozen vidoes of his saved on his phone. One he was going away for a while, and he still wanted to upload the vidoes saved on his computer, that he made weeks prior. He downloaded them to his phone so he could have uploaded them from his mobile device. He just was lazy to have deleted them off of it once he was done.
He propped his phone up on the table, using the stand that's connected to the case, and his three friends leaned onto him, making him blush even harder.
He had selected one of the Outer Wilds vidoes he made, even though he had others, but he secretly wanted to show this game to the three boys so badly.
Swizzle chuckled. "Ooh, this game again,"
The video played, showing Richard navigating his ship toward the Hourglass Twins—a pair of planets connected by a flowing sand column.
"Woah... So this is what you guys do... Your face is at the top left," Gloyd said pointing to the left of the screen.
In the video, Richard missed the planet entirely, drifting aimlessly into space. "Oh, come on," he muttered, trying to turn the ship. Despite his efforts, the ship kept drifting farther away. "What? Why... Why am I still..."
You could hear him mashing the W key, but the ship was still getting sucked backwards. "Okay, why it's like I'm getting sucked in by something-," As if right on cue, there was an orange glow appearing around the nose on the ship. "What's-," He turned the ship lightly only to see the sun coming in hot, "OH, FUCK ME—"
But it was too late, and he crashed into the Solar System's one and only star.
The camera zoomed up to Richard's face as he covered his face, sulking down into his chair, "Turns out I was getting sucked in..."
The three boys were watching the video silently, but the second they saw Richard miss the planet, they had growing giggles, but once the part game of Richard crashing into the sun, they all burst out into loud laughter.
"Oh my god, the timing!" Gloyd laughed.
Swizzle shook his head, grinning. "I don't know how Console Characters do it..."
Richard, Gloyd and Swizzle were in the penthouse together in Fix It Felix, they were sitting on the edge of the bed, watching the TV. It was night.
Richard titled his head, "Wait a minute... why this show seems familiar..." He said. He leaned closer. "That anime boy looks strangely familiar..."
"Isn't that-," He saw Sonic zoom by on the screen. Richard gasped. "Wait a moment, isn't this Sonic X?" He quickly looked back to Gloyd, Swizzle and Rancis. "That... that anime kid was Chris," He said with a confused look.
Gloyd smiled and nodded, "Your grandpa's TV antenna is close to Felix's game, so our TVs in here work," he explained, pointing to the screen.
Richard blinked, confused. "But… how does the TV work when the WiFi doesn't?" He glanced down at his phone, still having zero bars.
Rancis shrugged, "I don't know,"
Sighing, Richard stuffed his phone back into his pocket, only to feel Gloyd leaning into him. His cheeks flushed, but he let himself relax, leaning into Gloyd in return.
Gloyd giggled and snuggled into Richard as they watched Sonic X on the TV
Richard's eyes darted over to Rancis and Swizzle, who were still fully absorbed in the show, before glancing back at Gloyd. Something about the moment felt peaceful. With a shy smile, he reached out and gently poked at Gloyd's belly, his finger wandering until it found his belly button.
Gloyd let out a soft laugh, his big, cartoonish eyes twinkling as he looked down. "R-Richard…" he whispered, amused. "This again?"
Richard didn't say anything, and just kept twirling his finger inside Gloyd's belly button.
"You're so weird," Gloyd teased, his voice light. "Are all humans this strange~?" he added with a playful grin.
Richard glanced up at him, a shy smile tugging at his lips. He didn't know why he enjoyed this so much—it just made him feel… calm. Comfortable.
Gloyd chuckled softly, resting his hand on Richard's head. "You can keep touching it," he murmured. "I don't mind. I'm not as ticklish as Rancy," he added with a whisper.
Richard nodded, his face still flushed, and continued absentmindedly playing with Gloyd's belly button through his shirt. Gradually, his hand wandered, slipping under the fabric to rub Gloyd's bare belly. It was warm, soft, and comforting. Richard gave it a gentle squeeze, feeling his eyes grow heavy as he leaned into Gloyd's side.
Gloyd smiled warmly, his voice soft. "Awww," he cooed, resting his head on Richard's.
Eventually, Richard's breathing slowed, and he drifted off to sleep, snuggled against Gloyd's side.
Richard had been asleep for just over an hour, still leaning against Gloyd, his hand resting on his soft belly beneath his shirt.
Gloyd, too, was starting to drift off, his eyelids growing heavy, when Rancis's voice cut through the silence. "I think we should call it a night—" he yawned, stretching out. His eyes landed on Richard and Gloyd. Richard was peacefully asleep, leaning on Gloyd's shoulder with his hand still resting on Gloyd's stomach.
Rancis let out a snort. "When did that happen?"
Gloyd chuckled quietly. "He fell asleep on me."
Rancis raised an eyebrow, a grin tugging at his lips. "With his hand up your shirt?"
"He was poking my belly button," Gloyd said, still smiling. "Then he just dozed off."
Swizzle, who had been half-listening, shook his head. "He poked all of your belly buttons, but never poked mine..."
Gloyd snickered. "Sounds like you want him to~," he teased.
Rancis rolled his eyes and shook his head softly. "We need to get him to his room."
Gloyd nodded in agreement, gently shaking Richard's shoulder. "Hey, Richy... Time to wake up," he said quietly.
"Hmmm?" Richard let out a sleepy groan. "It's... Morning?"
"No silly," Swizzle smiled.
Gloyd smiled down at him, speaking gently. "You need to wake up. We've got to go to bed so we can get up early tomorrow."
Richard slowly opened his eyes, blinking as his mind caught up. "Oh... Right... Monday..."
"Yeah," Rancis said.
Swizzle stood up, extending his hand to Richard. "Come on, I'll take you back to your room."
A single arcade machine showed up in the darkness. The screen fizzled in an out, as the lights around the cabinet flickred. The screen fixed, and showed Kid Powers. There was an ominous sound coming from the machine. It sounded like a mechanical clicking sound. Wires then appeared to have been connecting to the machine, each wire connected to different unnamed cabinets that were littered all around in the darkness.
Then they all turned on one, by one. From Fix-It-Felix Jr, all they way to Hero's Duty.
Richard stood there, with eyes widen. He stepped closer to the Kid Powers cabinet. "What... What are you...?" He placed his hand on the side of the machine, then the screen fizzled out, and all he could see was his reflection on the glass screen.
Richard was jerked awake by the sound of a knock at the door. "Huh?" he groaned sleepily, rubbing his eyes.
He slowly sat up and glanced toward the door. "That... must be the three boys..." He shuffled out of bed and walked over to the door.
Another knock echoed through the room. "Oh my land... I hope he's awake," a voice called out from the other side.
Richard blinked, confused. "That doesn't sound like the racer boys..." He opened the door, only to be met by Felix standing there.
Felix gasped, then hopped to his feet, as a 8-bit ding sound played from him. "Thank goodness you're awake Richard!" he exclaimed.
"Oh... F-Felix? What are you-," He was going to say what he was doing here, but then he remembered this is his penthouse, so he asked, "Is something wrong?" Instead.
"In a way, yes! The arcade's about to open. Your three buddies told me to wake you up—they had to rush back to their game!"
Richard stared at Felix, trying to process what he meant. He just woke up, after all. He was still half alseep.
"The arcade's open," Felix repeated.
Then it clicked. "Oh, crap! Right! I... I can't be in your game, can I?!"
Felix quickly shook his head. "No, not until tonight, at least. The Nicelanders will be popping in and out of windows, and you can't be here to block their way," he explained. "But you can head out into Game Central and spend the day there."
Richard nodded, ready to head out, but Felix stopped him before he could leave. "Wait, take these. Sonic made them for you," he said, handing Richard two chili dogs.
Richard smiled gratefully. "Tell him thanks!" he said, quickly leaving the penthouse with the food in hand.
