Muahaha! Action scenes!
It's one thing to see stuff on the big screen but it's a whole other story seeing things in real life. Azog was no exception. Sure he may have seemed scary and intimidating in the film but now, staring at him now I could truly tell that this orc was a monster. He was huge, towering over the other orcs, and his skin was a sickly pale color that made me squirm. His scars screamed of his strength in battle and his hand, his claw more like, was sticking out of his arm in a way that made me ill. He hadn't noticed me yet, which was surprising considering all the ruckus I'd made getting up here, but I figured it was because he as concentrated on his ultimate prize.
Azog was currently intent on the dwarf standing defiantly on the fallen pine's trunk. Thorin was about to charge into battle when I revved the engine in protest. Now, Grandpa was a powerful car and the sound his engine made through the mountains was like the scream of a dragon. Azog's attention was utterly mine. Just as he'd maneuvered to face me I'd hit the gas full force and slammed into his snarling warg with all the horsepower I had.
The car shuddered upon impact and my head slammed into the steering wheel. The warg had taken the brunt of the blow and few forward. Azog, however, had flown off his ride and had crashed into the windshield. He rolled limply onto Grandpa's hood I painstakingly held the throbbing spot on my forehead and stared at the steering wheel in disbelief.
"What the heck, Grandpa!" I glared as tears blurred my vision, "What's the point in having airbags if you never use them!" I punched the steering wheel in anger and the horn made a hesitant stuttering noise.
Before my thoughts could drift any further the screech of shredding metal entered my ears. My attention was turned back to the hood of my car where Azog had impaled his metal hand. He let out a roar full of rage as he stood and punched his fist through the windshield. I'd dodged just in time as his fist slammed into the chair I'd been sitting in. Azog pulled his fist back from the windshield and in his rage he tore the rest of the glass out. I was dangerously exposed and knew I had to get away.
Azog was intent on tearing me apart but I was quite intent on staying alive so our actions kind of cancelled each other out in a goose chase of death. He reached into the car again and I jumped into the opposite seat reaching for the door handle. Unfortunately I hesitated, noticing another orc just outside the door and Azog had time to catch up to me. I yelped as he snatched my escaping leg and dragged me through the shattered window, collecting glass in my skin the whole way.
I was dangling upside down as he lifted me to stare in his glaring face. Let me just tell you, this was had to be one of the most terrifying moments of my life. He sneered darkly growling something I couldn't understand. I figured his intent though as he raised his clawed arm to my throat. NOPE. No way I was dying here! Especially in whatever horrible way Azog had planned. I reached into my pocket where I'd stored my personal can of pepper spray.
Azog never saw it coming.
I shifted the nozzle in his direction and sprayed the stuff all over his face. Needless to say, I was dropped harshly and immediately. I fell almost directly on my back onto the car's hood. No doubt leaving a dent (You know I didn't even care anymore. I was just keeping tally now).
In movies it never really matters what height the hero falls from, they always roll back up and continue being awesome like it's nothing but let me tell you. It may not have been a super long fall but it was brutal. The air was knocked out of me and my back creaked. I lay there trying to breath while Azog screamed and thrashed, throwing himself to the ground. I gasped and lay frozen, afraid I wouldn't be able to get any air into my lungs.
I could hear shouts all around me as the dwarves fought off the offending orcs. The car suddenly quavered and long strands of hair fell around me and Thorin looked down at me.
"She is alive!" He called back to the others. Nori's head popped up beside his. I breathed lighter knowing if they were here I would be relatively protected. Thorin glanced at the flailing white orc a ways off and just as he was about to finish his dealings with the creature he was abruptly snatched from the spot.
"The eagles," I breathed as I watched the giant creature fly off the ledge. I smiled as wargs were thrown from the cliff's ledges. Poor Bilbo was about to have a heart attack before he, too, was seized by a pair of talons. I observed as dwarf after dwarf was snatched up. I was starting to wonder if I wouldn't be getting a ride off this rock. I'd need to hitch a ride with those eagles if I was going to be of any use.
I reached for Nori's jacket and tugged to get his attention. He glanced over and I motioned to him then the car and then the eagles. He seemed to understand what I meant. He knew we needed to get this car to wherever we were heading. I just hoped the eagles would know what was going on. Nori lifted me off the hood of the car and set me into the drivers seat. He ran off a second later. My heart skipped a beat. I needed him in the car! If I had a dwarf with me I was more likely to catch a ride from the eagles. I tried yelling out to him, failed miserably, and sat back in my chair in defeat. I could only hope now.
A sudden bout of shouting came to my ears and I caught a glance of Nori dragging Fili behind him. Fili was arguing and struggling as he noticed his brother being whisked away. Nori nearly threw Fili into the car and then hoped in himself. I looked back at the two of them in relief. Before Fili could argue more with Nori there was a huge crunch of metal above us. I gasped when I looked up and saw giant claws protruding from the ceiling, two sets to be exact. Honestly though, why'd they have to dig their claws right through the roof? There had to be a better way than that. My thoughts were interrupted as the whole car jerked from the ground and Fili and Nori nearly few through the front window. Luckily everyone had caught hold of something and pulled themselves back into the back seats.
Heights were honestly my kryptonite so the fact that we were soaring through the air in a car filled with holes really had me paralyzed. I tried to pull myself out of my terrified state. I needed to be able to think clearly. This was a tad on the dangerous side. The adrenaline was beginning to kick in and I was finally able to breath and move freely. First thing's first.
"Seatbelts everyone!" I called back at the two. I reached for my seatbelt a little too late for what happened next. We began to fall.
Oh man! Thanks for reading! ;D
