Author's Note: This Chappy is pretty long, my longest to date, the plot bunnies went wild. So this is in-universe the equivalent of Shepard's backstory from the Character Creation, very similar to War Hero in all honesty. Hope you all enjoy this. See bottom for more in-depth notes about some stuff. Spaceships and stuff.

Chapter 5

Time Skip No Jutsu

Now we find our intrepid hero Naruto (Uzumaki) Shepard in class for the first time, for him the first time in many years. His first class of the day was in Engineering. The teacher is an older man with some scars on his face. He says, "Engineering isn't only building things, it is understanding the basics of our society, what everything is built upon, from the ships we fly to the chair you sit in. Most of you are going to be joining as combat engineers. Your job is to make the average Marine's job easier, you build his cover, you fix his weapon, you spawn the turret to cover him whenever he goes down. Those are just some of the things you will be asked to do. Those are just the bare minimum of what will be expected of you. You could be asked to do everything from building a defensive wall for a colony settlement to hacking a high-level computer of a Batarian warship, all this while being expected to be always combat effective. Your best friend being that of your VI assistant, you will be getting those today. They are your best friends in this profession. They record all the information you might need while also adding to your combat effectiveness. They are the drones you use in combat; they control the turrets you build, they assist in the hacking, overall, these little guys will augment everything about you and the units you serve with. Some even tend to form pseudo personalities as they grow with you, now don't worry about the possibility of it gaining sentience or anything like that. "

At the end of that speech, a woman in a lab technician uniform comes in with a briefcase. She hands it to the gruff teacher and leaves. Time Skip No Jutsu, Same Day

Next, we catch up with Naruto in his next class of the day. He is sitting next to Sara who is in this class with him. She leans over, "Hey, so what do you think of the teacher? Have you seen her? "

Naruto responds, "I think she is cool so far, she hasn't said anything unsurprising, she does seem a little bit of a hardass, but that's not a bad thing, especially in something like Leadership, this is meant to make us into Officers, that seems par for the course. "

The now described "hardass" at the front of the classroom is a woman in uniform with the eagle and stripes of a Navy Captain, she is, however, built like a Marine. Six foot six with searing silver hair, built like a tank, and looks like she could take more punishment than one. Scars adorn her beautiful face, one the likes of a stripe down through her right eye and another graze on the left side of her cheek. The vibe of a highly trained warrior and the wit of a Marine.

She continues, "You are the ones who will be making the decisions in your units, wherever they may be. Every decision you make will have the lives of those below you in the balance, hopefully, with this class, you will learn to make the best decisions We will be covering real-world examples, those from history, and simulations of possible future events you could encounter."

She says with a hard sigh, "I will start this class with a story, I served in the First Contact war against the Turians. The battles we fought against them were intense, shall we say, many of us on the ground felt like it was always a fight for survival, they left many of us with mementos. I lost my battle to the enemy; I was young, inexperienced and naïve. War makes you learn quickly. This time we find Naruto sitting in his final class, fiddling with his wrist computer, doing some basic coding, hoping to improve his new bestie now named after a dear friend of his, "Hey Haku, do you think with this code line that might shorten the time between making Combat Drones. "

Insert training montage, whereby Naruto and other cadets are broken physically, mentally, and spiritually until they are reformed. We see Naruto climbing ropes 50 feet to the ceiling, pushups with two cadets on his back, weapon drills for literal hours. Naruto and his fellow cadets are getting the equivalent of years of Marine boot camp in just twelve months.

On a building across the way from the training ground being used by the cadets, two people are seen standing on it. A blonde with a strikingly similar look to our hero and a woman of crimson blood-like hair that seems to move with a mind of its own.

The blonde speaks up first, "Honey, how long until he figures out we changed the curriculum and teachers this year for him. "

The Fiery hot one says, "Hopefully he won't because I don't think we could survive the prank war that would erupt, I want what is best for our baby and if a little hardship will get him there then that is what we have to do. This scene fades out with Kushina and Minato watching their son run a marathon with two metal barrels attached to his shoulders by rope. The struggle is shown on his face, but it is determined as well. With one final push, he reaches the finish line and passes out with a smile on his face.

Time Skip No Jutsu

The scene fades into Naruto and Sara on the bridge of a warship, ten to twenty people all scattered about the bridge doing their assigned tasks.

Sara continues the conversation she and Naruto had been having, "Well, Lieutenant Shepard, how does it feel like to be in charge for like the ten minutes the captain is having his meeting? "She begins giggling.

A couple of minutes go by with servicemen and women rushing about getting the ship ready to take off, while this was going on Naruto was on the comm with the other members of the wolfpack getting them ready as well, as all the Commanders and the Captain had been in a meeting about the wolfpacks future missions, patrols, and staffing. As soon as Naruto is off the comm, a large man with golden blonde hair tied up in a ponytail not dissimilar to Naruto himself comes onto the Bridge.

"Lieutenant, what's going on, why has the Wolfpack begun preparations and what is going on with all the alarms." He says as he crosses the threshold of the door.

Naruto salutes and responds, "Sir, the colony of Amaterasu has gone dark and Batarian ships were seen entering the system shortly before the blackout and no hails have returned from the forces stationed in orbit or on the ground. Here's the data we have so far. I elected to get us, and the Wolfpack prepared to get underway in preparation for you to give the order. "As he hands the captain a data pad with all the information gathered so far. "

The captain receives the pad and begins reviewing the information and giving out a couple of orders himself, trying to gather more information. He returns to his Captain's chair and enters the discussion with the woman in an Admiral's uniform on the other side and after a few minutes have passed, ends the call. As this was going down, Naruto did a couple of things, he helped finish the process of bringing the ship out of the dock, and then excused himself to the restroom. As he enters the restroom, he uses two-finger and hand signs and conjures up a shadow clone, and says to it, "Hey, make sure mom and pops know what is going on, and send a message to Sheppy in case she is nearby with her command."

The shadow clone disperses, and he does his business and leaves the restroom. He walks up to the Captain and says to him, "So, sir, do you think Experimental Frigate Overlord is ready for her first outing? I know the new weapon systems and all our other toys seem to be in order, but do you think we are ready? "In a much smaller voice, he also adds, "The clan head has been informed and so has my sister "

The Captain responds to Naruto's second comment with a nod and says, "I think the eggheads back home will love to have some more data to parse through so if I didn't think we could do it I'm certain they would order us to go anyway. This may only be a slightly upsized Frigate, but we have a lot of surprises. Get us into the Relay now, I don't want the forces to be overwhelmed before we can get there"

The camera pans out to a wolfpack of Alamo Frigates leaving the dock where the fleet had been stationed. The head of this Wolfpack is the ship Naruto is aboard, the Overlord, an upsized Alamo Frigate coming in at 250 meters, she was ready for war. Two massive turrets were attached at the port and starboard next to the Bridge. Two large rocket pods slowly grow out of the bottom of the ship ready to fire as soon as they come out of FTL. Wolfpack Overlord enters the Relay and accelerates toward the Amaterasu system.

Time Skip No Jutsu

The Overlord comes out of the relay right before the rest of the 5-ship flotilla exits right behind it. We join Naruto on the bridge once again.

The Captain says to Naruto and the various Commanders of the other ships of the small fleet, "So everyone knows the plan, right? We gain the coordinates of the enemies in space and on the ground. We make a hole in their line big enough for our Prototype stealth to kick in long enough for us to get boots on the ground, the Marines on the ground have already been under fire for more than two hours, and I don't know how long they can hold out. As we get closer, I will be attempting to get ahold of them and see how they are doing. I know a couple of you don't have your Commanders on the ship right now, but just follow the plan and we should be fine, we aren't trying to start a dogfight we won't win that against that Cruiser. Naruto says, "Ensign take us in. Weapon teams begin charging up and get us targeting solutions for the missiles. I want to take out at least two of their Frigates and bring down the Barriers of another couple and maybe scratch the paint of that Cruiser. "

The small fleet begins to drift toward the planet and the enemy's blockade it. Around twenty minutes into the flight, they start to pick up things in more detail. The Cruiser had gotten into geosynchronous orbit over the Capital city and was spewing out shuttles and fighter craft. It stops and begins maneuvering around to the Wolfpack, seemingly they had been noticed. All the ships begin accelerating at max speed, blue lights flaring from the thrusters on the rear of them.

Naruto says," It's time for this Wolfpack to hunt maggots, get those weapons warmed up, I have a special present for that Cruiser, take me closer so I may hit it with my sword"

The more maneuverable and prepared SA Frigates close on the Batarians. Weapons fire as they enter their effective range. First are the missile launches, every ship has at least 1 missile launch, but the Overlord's prepared missile pods fire, and 12 are shot out tracking their targets. The Batarians' screening force being the main targets of the missiles. While those track their targets, the Mass Accelerators enter their effective range, and 6 slugs, several kilograms heavy, are shot at exceedingly high speed and impact on the Cruiser's Barrier almost depleting it. Finally, as all of those experimental turrets on the Overlord have warmed up and two rapid-fire Mass Accelerators unload on the Cruiser fully depleting the Barriers.

As soon as the Barriers are down, Naruto says, "Fire the Boarding pods, it's time for my surprise on these Batarian Bastards. Six Shuttle-sized pods are launched at Mach speeds and impact on the Cruiser's hull and penetrate its heavy armor.

As the flotilla has done its damage, they pull away to recharge for another pass, and the Batarian fleet has finally gathered its bearings and fired their weapons. One Frigate is immediately winged and spirals down towards the planet. The rest of the flotilla takes major damage as MAC rounds impact and take out Barriers on some ships. The flotilla pulls away and tries to swing toward another celestial body in the system.

Even the Overlord has taken heavy damage especially the bridge, it seems the Batarians were focusing fire on the Bridges, most likely to cripple the ships.

We zoom into the Bridge of the Overlord, Naruto standing over the Captain who has taken some loose object to the head, Naruto says, "Hey Captain, are you ok? Can you hear me?"

He responds, "In all honesty, not really, and I have a major concussion, I think. Maybe some internal bleeding "

Naruto says, "Well I think you need to get down to the medical bay then I can handle the rest, we wiped most of the Frigates out and my surprise it is disabling the Cruiser as we speak hopefully, I think I can get us one more pass and then land us on the dirt. "

Ensign Sara Ryder saddles up to the two and says, "Captain you don't look good go get checked out, and Lieutenant there's something on the scope you need to see a couple of things. I think good and bad news. "

A couple of servicemen bring the captain to the medical bay and Naruto heads to the scanning station.

The serviceman manning the station says, "Lieutenant, a couple of things a couple of the ships stationed in the system survived and are heading to join us for the pass, but I found a wrinkle in that plan. Look here sir, in the shadow of the other side of the planet. "

As Naruto looks, he sees a massive starship coming around from the night side of the planet. It looks like a giant box with angular wings coming out in all four corners. Big enough to be a small space station. The serviceman says, "It's identified as a Batarian super cruiser, they were used way back as the slave ships because they can hold many people due to their size. The size of a carrier or dreadnought, but not armed nearly as well, the Batarians don't usually have these out of their space, their private clan vessels usually, from what we know. The Overlord deploys its small three Interceptor squadron to gain the advantage quicker. Which slowly went away as the Batarian ship approached, and then suddenly, behind it, shots at least to the ship out of nowhere impacting on its Barriers. The fleet had finally arrived and was engaging the Batarian monolith. A message came aboard the Overlord from the female Admiral from just hours earlier.

Lieutenant Naruto, I want you and your stealth drive to land on the planet, give support to those Marines as we enter the system, on top of what you have been streaming to us, we have learned the ones on the ground have joined with the survivors of Maryland who crashed from your first engagement. I'll take command of the rest of the flotilla, but your Marines and experimental weapons could be of use on the ground if nothing else to test them and save as many lives as you can. We will continue to engage the Batarians here, but with your tactics, we should be able to mop up in the next hour or so, and we can keep sending shuttles down, from what we can tell, the highest-ranking officer down there is a non commissioned officer, so you will be in charge. Naruto complying with that order gets the ship heading towards the planet and begins landing preparations. He says, "Alright I think you can land us North of the Marine lines in the outskirts of the city and with our heat signature being that of basically a shuttle then we should go mostly unnoticed. He begins walking to the bottom deck of the ship, which had been hollowed out and expanded to fit the much larger and extensive hanger bay where the fighters and land vehicles were staged. He looks over the bay taking it in, the Mako and the Grizzly being standard, but the other vehicles were what he was excited about. The Goblin Artillery Tank and the Megalodon MBT. The main turret with two massive cannons to alternate fire with a body that harkens back to tanks of old. One smaller turret with a Mako autocannon and then finally a trio of Anti-Personnel machine guns turrets, based on the Revenant model. Naruto thinks to himself, "hopefully the eggheads in the lab know what their doing "

Naruto starts," Alright, Marines, come here, I'm going to give you the skinny on what's going on. First, we will be doing a pass over the "trench line" of our friendlies and dropping a couple of squads in the pods and the Mako. You will be helping hold the line until we can get there with the heavier stuff. Air will be flying, so if you need it to call it in. We will land North of the City and move via convoy to the line to help gather any stragglers, we will arrive at the line and by then the Goblin should be in range to begin bombing the enemy, we will push from the "line" and take out the Batarians. The hatch of the Mako then lowers and another squad unloads with a small Mortar and the parts for a one-person turret. Then walking out in full Marine armor is a familiar blonde. He says to the marine next to him, "Find the highest-ranking officer left and get them here quick, and like a bunny, you get the command Mako tied into the local Battlespace, so I know what the hell is going on. And you keep being awesome "

He reaches up to his ear and says, "This is Maelstrom One on the ground and assessing situation Maelstrom 2 are you landed yet. "

The reply says, "This is Maelstrom 2, we are on deck and assembling convoy, Air is on the way as we speak. Keep an eye out for AA if you could"

Naruto says, "Hey, Corporal Williams, take over for a minute, I have to hit the head quick"

He walks off into a building that looks half-destroyed and making sure no one can see spawns some Shadow Clones and says to them, "Hey you know what's up to go and help everyone you can, make sure you are henged as someone else, if we succeed, maybe this can become even partially for these people have some positivity in all this destruction"

Sniper teams are ordered to nearby skyscrapers and heavy weapon teams are set up. As he finishes saying that, the mortar rings out and automatic fire begins as the Batarians begin pushing the colonial line, thankfully now reinforced with Marine muscle. It begins to pick up when a Grizzly seemingly captured by the Batarians rolls up and begins shelling until it is shut down by one of the heavy weapon teams Naruto brought with him. The fighting keeps up for around 10 minutes, within all this, Naruto is running around giving orders and using Medi-gel widely and as much as he can, trying to keep who he can fighting and those he can't using a henged shadow clone moving them to a medical tent set up by the command vehicle. The enemy decides to pull out one of their big guns and a Batarian artillery piece fires up, a nasty piece of material blocky and bigger than it needs to be, most likely to show off rains on the colonial position, taking an entire squad with its shell. Air promptly decides it needs to die as it very quickly is destroyed. The battle quickly goes into a haze, most likely at least to Naruto's thinking, is that "That must have been one of the big honchos in there, they will reform in the next few minutes when they figure out who's in charge now."

This goes on for around five minutes and all the hostages are out of dangers way and the clones continue their way through the camp killing those that they sense to be evil and those are knocked unconscious and nicely enough without a call going out the electronics haven't been wiped yet so information logs and everything so far hasn't been destroyed. The Clones have now gotten behind the head honcho still threatening the Original Naruto over the radio, and the call goes out from the Shadow team, a shot is taken from one of the sniper teams and the Batarian is grazed on the side of his head and the Clones move in to secure him.

The fourth one who seems strangely silent for a Naruto clone says over the radio, "Hey kit everything is taken care of over here Me and the boys are going to disappear send the Marines to secure before something dumb happens. "

Hey all, welcome to the end, what did you all think?. So for general stuff. All kinds of stuff introduced this chapter. Mostly in ship tech, vehicles, that sort of stuff, I did this so I could flesh out the military stuff. It never made sense for me in-universe, there are literally like 3 vehicles and one you can never drive. Most of these vehicles are online, I think, on images, Pinterest, and Deviant art. The ships are included in that, there is one artist who is awesome and has designed a bunch of ME ships, Euderion. Going forward with any new ships or the old ones, I'm thinking of making a chapter dedicated to that, stats, weapons, stuff like that, let me know your thoughts.

Btw, the reason for the Stealth system is that it would've had to be tested before the Normandy got it and was built so the already built ship got the experimental tech attached to it, kinda like modern-day stuff where like recently the US put their Lazers on ships that weren't built for it. wanted to include this because I could see the question coming .
