"I do hope you're not going too rough on them." Silena said to her boyfriend as she stood nearby, watching as Jakob sparred with Thalia in hand-to-hand combat. It was the following day, day number two of Jakob training his friends, and this time Silena had come to be a part. She had coyly mentioned Katie might show up, but said nothing more which left Jakob a little on alert but he brushed it off for now to focus on today's training.
For Andromeda, he had her join him and Thalia in their hand-to-hand combat session, with the two cousins against him. Bianca and Nico were beginning their training on wielding a sword, with a practice dummy to test on, and Annabeth had been given a bow and quiver of arrows from the camp armory since Jakob noted she always relied on a dagger for her weapon, and wanted her to branch out a little more. A warrior should be capable and skilled in all weapons of combat, not just focused on the one.
Jakob looked at his girlfriend while ducking to hip-toss Thalia over his shoulder, slamming her to the floor with a grunt escaping the Daughter of Zeus. "Hey, they are the ones who say they like it rough."
"In more ways than one?" Silena asked with a growing smirk that she shot at Thalia, whose cheeks reddened a little as she knew what Silena was insinuating. "But in all fairness, I do like a little roughness myself."
"That so?" Jakob raised a brow, dropping to his knees to avoid a high kick from Andromeda, shooting back to his feet to block her follow-up attack with his forearm, then sweep her off his feet with his leg, then jump back to avoid a kick to the head from Thalia.
"While I like the gentleness, sometimes a girl just wants some rough treatment." Silena said, her tone lowering to a sly, seductive one as she fluttered her eyelashes at Jakob and shot him a wink afterwards.
The Son of Thor grabbed Andromeda and Thalia's double punch, and shot his girlfriend a look. "Do stop trying to distract me with a good time."
"Yes, please. Stop." Thalia gritted her teeth, resisting the urge to shock Silena for her comments, feeling her annoyance at the reminder of her and Jakob's relationship grow.
Silena just grinned like a vixen.
Jakob shook his head, then leaned back Matrix-style, avoiding another double attack from the cousins, then wrapped his arms around their waists to pull them in and give them not too gentle but not too tight squeeze to warn them against further resistance.
"Have enough yet?" He asked with a smirk.
Thalia, seeing an opportunity, smirked. "Of you holding me like this? Not really. Keep your hand above the waist, buster... unless Andie wants a little grope."
"Thalia!" Andromeda blushed as Jakob chuckled in amusement, while Silena just shook her head with a grin, knowing of the obvious attraction and feelings Andromeda, Thalia, Annabeth and Bianca had for Jakob. He was clearly aware as well, though didn't know how to proceed, even after being told that she and Katie were willing to share him.
She'll have to pull them all aside and speak with them about their feelings for Jakob and if they are willing to share him, this sexual tension was killing and she didn't want to cause problems by showing off her relationship with Jakob in front of those that want to be with him as well.
"Don't look now, but..." Silena announced, causing Jakob to look at her before he, as well as Andromeda and Thalia, felt something wrap around them and they were soon held upside down.
"Ahh!" Andromeda screamed in surprise.
"What the Hades?!" Thalia looked around frantically.
Jakob looked to see what was wrapped around them and sighed. "I see that's what your plan was, huh, Katie? Try to catch me off guard."
"Did it work?" The Daughter of Demeter asked as she arrived, sliding off a plant that she had been sitting on, mentally willing the vine around her three friends to put them back on the ground.
"Well, I wasn't expecting it, but I did know you were up to something thanks to how coy she was being." Jakob said, jerking his head at Silena who giggled.
"Just like when I tried to Charmspeak you." Silena said, shaking her head.
"You tried Charmspeaking him?" Thalia blinked at her.
"Just to see if he was resistant to it... turns out he very much is." Silena said with a sigh, knowing her Charmspeak was the strongest of all her mother's demigod children, even Drew's wasn't as strong as hers.
And she knew the only way someone could resist Charmspeak is if they're incredibly strong willed, and even then they'd still feel some effect before shaking it off. Yet it looked like Jakob wasn't affected at all.
"You shouldn't have expected it to work at all." Someone said, making the demigods turn to see who it was, only to see Artemis stepping out from behind a tree.
"Finally decided to stop hiding, kid." Jakob said, frowning at the Moon Goddess, with the others turning to him.
"You knew she was there?" Andromeda asked.
"She's been watching us today and yesterday. Any reason why?" Jakob asked, not really keen on being spied upon by an Olympian.
"It is my responsibility to watch you. As well as ensuring nothing untoward happens while you're with these young maidens." Said Artemis, having made sure to watch Jakob, both since that's the reason she's here and she wanted to make sure he didn't try anything with the girls.
This made Silena, Katie, Bianca, Andromeda, Thalia, and Annabeth frown that she thought Jakob would actually try something with them. Only to look at Jakob, when he began chuckling and smiled in amusement at Artemis.
"I'm sure it must be such a shock to you, Kid, what with your whole "men are evil" spiel. But I'm helping them train because they're my friends and I want to make sure they can take care of themselves." Jakob said, making the demigods smile while Andromeda, Annabeth and Thalia were happy, though slightly annoyed, to hear he considered them as friends.
"Yet you come out into the forest to train rather than remaining in the camp, itself. Despite knowing the dangers of what's in here, it instead makes you look rather reckless and uncaring if something happens to them." Artemis retorted, with Jakon's smile never wavering.
"And yet nothing has happened and nothing will happen. Given that Thalia, Andromeda, Silena, Katie and Annabeth are more than capable of dealing with any monsters in the forest, while Bianca and Nico can at least Shadow Travel away back to camp. Perhaps if you thought more about that, rather than jumping to conclusions, you'd actually see none of them are in any danger. But then again you are a kid, so I guess you're used to only seeing what's right in front of you." Jakob said, much to Artemis's annoyance.
"The only thing I see right now is an arrogant, patronizing boy!" Said Artemis, causing Jakob's smile to turn into a smirk.
"If by patronizing you mean helping a child understand why she shouldn't jump to conclusions, then yes I'm very patronizing, Kid. And do you really want to talk to me about arrogance? Aren't you the ones that live on top of a mountain, just so you can physically and metaphorically look down on everyone." Replied Jakob, with Artemis narrowing her eyes at him.
Though before she could say anything, the Son of Thor turned towards Silena, with her and the other demigods having been watching everything silently with wide eyes. Wondering how he could talk back against a goddess like Artemis without any fear or concern. Even after knowing him for a few years now.
"But I suppose the Kid is right about one thing, Charmspeak won't work that easily on me, since my mind is just as strong as the rest of me. I'm also no stranger to illusions and know how to resist them." Said Jakob, much to their curiosity at how he's dealt with illusions before.
"Charmspeak is more like hypnotism than an illusion." Said Silena, only for Jakob to shrug.
"Hypnotism is just another form of illusions; you make someone do what you want against their will or them even realizing what's happening. But that's rather basic, you could have it be much more powerful than simply giving a command, you could say something and make a person believe they're nothing but a helpless infant or that they're at the bottom of the ocean. If you can target a person's mind, then you can make them see, hear, smell, taste, or feel anything, and the only limit is your own imagination." Jakob said.
"Now though, we'll be taking a break, as it's almost time for lunch as well as Bianca's and Nico's lessons. Silena, Katie, if you two want to join the training then meet us back here after their lessons are over." Jakob said, making the demigods nod before they left the forest.
With Artemis watching the Son of Thor with narrowed eyes, before leaving as well.
Shorter chapter than usual, I know, but I'll work on that. And... Christ, 40 chapters in? Not bad. Next chapter features either a little more training, or Jakob talking about his family and pantheon, as well as the supernatural world itself, follwed by the Capture the Flag game between the Hunters and Campers, maybe a confrontation between Jakob and Artemis.
