Spider-Man Meets the Flex Fighters
Chapter 14 Gentleman Hit

It was nighttime in Charter City and Spider-Man was out on patrol swinging. Spider-Man had been in this strange new dimension for roughly over two weeks and had very little luck in locating either Ock or the Tech Men. It was both frustrating and concerning. The frustration part was because Spider-Man needed the teleporter to return himself and his rogues back to their home dimension, which was in the hands of the illusive Tech Men. The concern was from what Ock could be planning. Spider-Man knew from past experience that Ock was one of his most deadliest enemies and could do a lot of damage to Charter City and this world. True Peter could go to Rook and his company and take the deal that was offered, but there was just something he didn't like about Rook. He needed to collect more info and get a better feel of this dimension and it's inhabitants before he made any big decisions about teaming up or working with others.
Spider-Man continued on his patrol, until he spotted what appeared to be members of the Made Men running out of a bank with sacks of money and piling into a getaway car. The car took off down the street and Spider-Man swung after it.
"Finally something simple I can deal with to take my mind off other things." Said Spider-Man to himself.
"We got company." Said a Made Man in the passenger seat spotting Spider-Man chasing after the car.
"Good. The spider is taking the bait. Now we just got to lure him into the trap." Said the driver.
The car picked up speed and Spider-Man chased after it.
Elsewhere Riya in her Blindstrike persona doing a bit of patrolling and getting some fresh air and exercise as she thought about how to help Dr. C and expose and take Rook down. The fact that Rook was a freeman and beloved by the city really frustrated Riya. She knew what kind of person Rook really was and the horrible things he had done over the years. Rook was a monster and criminal that needed to be stopped and Riya and her allies were no step closer in taking him down. Rook had tons of resources at his disposal plus the love of the public. It seemed like taking him down was going to be impossible. The thought of Rook continuing to get away with everything he had done infuriated Riya.
It was at that moment Riya looked down at the city street and saw the new hero Spider-Man chasing after a car. Riya had heard about Spider-Man on the news and was very curious about the new hero, wondering if he could be a potential ally or some kind of agent of Rook to get at Riya and the Flex Fighters. She decided to follow Spider-Man and observe him in person to see if she could get a better feel of him. Riya changed course and began to tail Spider-Man.
The car with the Made Men in it sped and swerved through the streets, until it came across a construction site and stopped. The criminals got out and raced into the partial constructed building. Spider-Man made it to the site and began to chase after the criminals and Riya stealthy followed him. The Made Men reached a large open area and stopped to face Spider-Man, with slight smirks on their faces.
Already Spider-Man knew this was some kind of trap. A couple dozen more members of the Made Men stepped out armed with guns, bats, and shock sticks surrounding Spider-Man. The criminals then parted to let a older man wearing some kind of jumpsuit with armor and holding a cane stroll up towards the hero.
"Hello there Mr. Spider-Man and thank you for gracing us with your presence this fine evening." Said The Gentleman.
Riya let out a slight gasp from her hiding spot in the shadows as she recognized the mercenary.
"Let me guess, you're some kind of elegant mercenary that specializes in dealing with unique problems and you've been hired by one of the local gang leaders to get rid of me." Said Spider-Man.
"Correct. I must say, you have some very good deduction skills." Said The Gentleman.
"Thanks, so I take it you're not going to tell me the name of your client." Said Spider-Man.
"I wouldn't be much of a professional if I did that. Now why don't you be a good sport and stand still, I promise to be quick." Said The Gentleman as he activated his armor.
The Gentleman then leaped at Spider-Man swinging his cane down at the hero, but Spider-Man leaped out of the way and avoided the blow.
"Sorry, but no. I wouldn't be much of a hero if I just gave up." Said Spider-Man.
The Gentleman just scowled before he charged forward swinging both his cane and striking with his free hand. Spider-Man dodged the blows from the cane, but The Gentleman managed to punch him in the gut knocking the hero onto his back. The Gentleman leaped at Spider-Man, but he shot his legs up and caught the mercenary in the gut throwing him over. Spider-Man shot to his feet the same time The Gentleman did and the two fighters circled each other. One of the Made Men tried to attack Spider-Man from behind with a shock stick, but Spider-Man's Spider-Sense detected the incoming attack and the hero grabbed the criminal and hurled him into a couple other goons knocking them down.
This seemed to set off the rest of the goons as a couple of them started firing their guns at Spider-Man, but he dodged their shots and fired some webbing at them pinning their arms to their sides before leaping over to knock them out with a few punches and kicks. Goons armed with bats and shock sticks tried to rush Spider-Man and beat him with their numbers, but the hero used his speed and agility to stay ahead of the mob and kept himself from being swarmed as he fought off goons. The Gentleman then leaped in from the side and knocked Spider-Man to the ground with a powerful punch. Spider-Man got to his feet as The Gentleman and the goons closed in on him.
"Come now. You're only making this worse for yourself." Said The Gentleman.
"I've been in tougher spots." Said Spider-Man.
Riya decided she needed to get involved and threw some smoke bombs into the area blanketing the area in smoke and causing a huge heap of confusion and chaos, before she jumped in with her Bo staff.
Spider-Man had no clue what was going on as he punched a few goons out and dodged a few blows from some other goons, before he and The Gentleman began to grapple with each other. A few goons tried to get their guns pointed at Spider-Man and shoot him, but Riya appeared and took the guns out with some shurikens.
"You?!" Said The Gentleman in surprise.
"Hey you're that ninja! Blindstrike!" Said Spider-Man surprised to see the mysterious figure.
Riya gave a brief nod before she went to fight some more goons. The Gentleman to change tactics as he kicked Spider-Man away from himself and then he leaped forward and grabbed the hero in a bear hug and attempted to crush him with his armor's strength.
"I shall crush you!" Declared The Gentleman.
"Sorry...to break it...to you mustache face, but you're...not the first guy to try and crush me with a power suit." Groaned Spider-Man as he managed to reach down and ripped a small hydraulic hose on The Gentleman's armor.
"What?! No!" Yelled The Gentleman as his armor began to lose power and become stiff.
Spider-Man broke free from The Gentleman's grip and punched him in the face sending him flying back and to the ground.
The Gentleman saw his cane laying nearby and grabbed it before he got back up and charged at Spider-Man determined to take the hero down before his suit completely lost power. The mercenary swung his cane with all his might, but Spider-Man caught it and then he swung The Gentleman into a pillar with a mighty crash and webbed him to it.
"The Gentleman lost!" Yelled a goon.
"Retreat!" Yelled another goon.
The few goons that remained conscious took off running to the exits, but they ended up either being webbed up by Spider-Man, who hit with some knockout gas bombs by Riya. After that was done Spider-Man and Riya stared at one another. Finally Spider-Man spoke.
"Thanks for the help back there. I appreciate it Blindstrike."
Riya didn't respond. Her keeping her mouth shut helped conceal that Blindstrike was a woman and she still wasn't sure if Spider-Man could be trusted. Riya just simply nodded her head.
"Strong silent type I see. Look I'm a bit new to Charter City and is done a bit of research on you and the Flex Fighters. Rook says you're a threat to the city, but I don't fully buy it. I know there's two sides to every story and I'm willing to hear your side of things." Said Spider-Man.
Riya thought about speaking, but remains silent as she processed what Spider-Man had said.
"I also want to give you all a heads up that there's a crew of really dangerous people that have rolled into town. I've been trying to find them, but haven't had much luck. I know they're out there and I can use any help finding them and making sure they don't cause any harm." Said Spider-Man.
Riya just nodded her head and left the scene.
"What a weird guy." Thought Spider-Man before he left the scene as well.
