Chapter 5

Doom and Games

The Tennysons then entered the game station. The best way they could describe it is a cross between a playground and a train station.

"We've got to save Poppy" said Frankenstrike.

"The only way we're gonna save her is if we play Mommy's games" said Gwen. Max then walked up to what looked like a control panel and one of the lights was flashing.

"I'm guessing we this" said Max. He pulled it, the light turned red and the sound music came. An audio then played.

"Hi kids, Welcome to the Game Station. I'm Stella and we've got three super fun games for you to play. These games will show us just how crazy, strong and smart you are. Follow Mommy Long Legs down the stairs and we'll start by playing Musical Memory, see you in a bit".

The lights turned on by the entrance to Musical Memory. Max used his Grab Pack to open the door that lead down there.

"Guess we're going down there" said Gwen. They walked down the stairs, only to come face-to-face with a damaged door and a hole in the wall.

"Maybe I can pry that door open" said Frankenstrike. He then head his Omnitrix beep and he turned back into Ben.

"Or maybe not" said Ben.

"Through the hole it is then" said Gwen. The three of went through the hole into another part of the factory. They then saw a large hole in the floor and jumped in. After crawling through it, they made it to what looked liked a 'moulding room'.

"This must be where the hands are made for the Grab Pack" said Gwen.

"Then I suggest that we start making one" said Max. After pushing a pipe back into place and filling up the paint, Max turned on the machine. Soon, a new green hand was rolled out onto the conveyer belt. Ben the grabbed the hand and attached it to Max's Grab Pack.

"So, what does this hand do?" Asked Ben. Max then saw an outlet with electricity sparking. He then fired the green hand and it absorbed the electricity.

"Oh, now THAT'S cool" said Ben. Max then fired the hand again into a different outlet and transferred the electricity to it. The door next to it then opened.

"Guess it's time to play some games" said Ben. They then walked into another room. The screens then turned on, scaring them a bit.

"Welcome, to musical memory. This advanced memory and cognitive recognition test is designed to stimulate several segments of the brain, showing how quickly and efficiently your brain works. A sequence of colours will be shown, and you must recreate that sequence, using the buttons around you. Bunzo, will slowly lower towards you. When you complete a colour pattern correctly, Bunzo, will rise back up. When you input a pattern incorrectly, Bunzo will lower towards you faster. If Bunzo reaches you, your test is over. The test will get more difficult as you continue, with longer patterns and quicker succession. That's all, good luck".

The screens then turned off.

"That's not good" said Ben. They then heard a slam against the glass and saw Mommy Long Legs in the control room.

"Oh, isn't it amazing?", Mommy Long Legs asked. "Mommy hasn't seen the place up and running in years. Mommy can only imagine how Bunzo must feel. It's been such a long~ time since he's been able to play, to cheer, to eat".

"Eat?" Asked Ben worryingly. They heard the sound of symbols clanging and looked up. It was a yellow bunny wearing green overalls and party hat clanging his symbols.

"Oh, that's the dinner bell", said Mommy Long Legs. "Good luck". The lights in he control room turned off. Bunzo then started clanging his symbols.

Red. Blue. Blue. Yellow.

"The grab pack" said Max. He then used the hands on the grab pack to hit the colours. Max was starting to get the hang of it. But then…

Blue. Yellow. Yellow. Green. Violet.

"Violet?" Wondered Max.

"Behind us" said Gwen. Max turned around and used the grab pack to hit the button. Soon. White was added. Then orange. Then letters.

"This is getting ridiculous" said Max.

"Maybe it's time to speed things up?" Suggested Ben. He then slammed down on the Omnitrix before he was bathed in green light. When it faded, he had turned into XLR8.

"Quite literally" said XLR8. Using his super speed, XLR8 started pressing the buttons when they came up on screen.

"What exactly are you doing Ben?" Asked Gwen.

"Remember that time I used your computer and I opened too many programs?" Asked XLR8.

"Huh?", wondered Gwen before she understood. "Oh~, I get it".

XLR8 eventually caused the computer to crash and short circuit.

"Oh, it broke", said Mommy Longlegs, sounding disappointed. "That's no fun. For doing such a splendid job, Mommy has decided to give you part of the code for the train. Look up". All three of them looked up and saw Mommy's hand, holding a piece of paper.

"Take it" said Mommy. XLR8 jumped and grabbed it. He then heard a familiar beeping sound. In a flash of red light, he turned back into Ben.

"Mommy was hoping the game could last a little longer", said Mommy Longlegs, in mocking disappointment. "It's okay though….Mommy knows, other ways to play you". The lights in the control room went out.

Ben balled up his fists.

"That long legged", growled Ben. "Spindly. Creepy. UGH! Wish I could curse".

"Easy, Ben", said Max. "We'll get out of this. We've faced a lot worse". Ben and Gwen then started to walk to the exit. Max on the other hand, had a look of concern on his face. After travelling through the hallways, they made it to what looked like a storage warehouse.

"Whoa, look at this place" said Ben.

"Maybe there's something in here that can help us?" Wondered Gwen.

"I say we split up", said Max. "But, be careful". They then split up and searched the warehouse. When Ben was on his own, he looked at the Omnitrix.

"If I hadn't used the watch during musical memory", Ben said to himself. "I could turn into Ditto. *sigh* But, Grandpa needed help and I-". Ben then saw a black VHS tape on a control panel.

"GRANDPA! GWEN!", shouted Ben. "I found something!". Max and Gwen then ran over to him.

"What did you find?" Asked Max.

"It's another VHS" said Ben.

"Wonder what's on it?" Asked Gwen. Ben saw a VHS player and a put it in the player. The picture on the TV was of a claw hand made out of metal, wire and bone.

"Log code: 6056. Experiment 1006; the Prototype. This, abomination has breached containment for the second time this week. We need more preventative measures to keep him from escaping. Though, given how he's extremely intelligent, it's no surprise. But, the strange technology we fou-". The tape then cut off.

"Well, that's not suspicious" said Ben sarcastically. After a few more minutes, they made it back to the game station. When they arrived, another set of lights turned on, it illuminated another entrance to another game.

"Well, time for game number 2" said Ben as he pulled down the lever. They then heard Stella's voice.

"Oh, did fantastic. Who gave you permission to be this smart? Mommy is super proud of you, well, I'm sure she already told you that herself. Our next game is Whack-a-Wuggy, head downstairs and have fun".

"Stay close" said Max. They then walked down the stairs and walked through the concrete hallways. They then saw a door and opened it. They walked in and saw a sandy floor and on the walls were 18 holes.

"What the heck is this?" Asked Ben.

"This must be where Whack-A-Wuggy is played" said Gwen. A TV then turned on and caught their attention.

"Welcome, to Whack-A-Wuggy. This advanced test is designed to assess the extent of your reactionary abilities, a duel palm Grab Pack will be provided to you for this test. Around you, are eighteen sizeable holes. An adorable Huggy Wuggy toy could appear out of anyone of these holes. If one comes out, hit it with your Grab Pack. That's all, good luck".

"Okay, so", said Gwen. "We need to keep our eyes out for Huggy Wuggys". The lights in the control room came on.

"The toys in this game used to have strings attached", said Mommy Longlegs. "So they could be pulled back if they got too close to the children".

"What did she mean by 'used to'?" Wondered Gwen, sounding scared.

"Hmmmm, good luck" Chuckled Mommy Longlegs sinisterly. The Tennysons then heard something coming from the one of the holes. It was a mini Huggy Wuggy. Max then used the Grab Pack to hit it, making it retreat. More soon showed and Max used the Grab Pack to hit them. Gwen then joined in using her magic.

"Feel free to join in anytime, Ben" said Gwen.

"Timed out, remember" said Ben. His watch them turned green.

"Oh, on second thought" said Ben. He then pressed the button, the faceplate popped up, he twisted it a bit and slammed it down, causing him to be bathed in a green light. When the green light faded, he turned into Wildvine.

"Time to go green" said Wildvine. His arms then stretched out and started to hit every Huggy Wuggy that came out.

"Keep it up", said Max. "They just keep coming". They kept at it for what felt like minutes, until the Huggy's stopped coming and a ding was heard.

"Oh, you did it", said Mommy Longlegs, sounding disappointment, before completely changing her tune. "Hooray! Mommy is so, proud of you". The Tennysons were a little unnerved by Mommy Longlegs' sudden shift in mood.

"Mommy has another hint for you" said Mommy Longlegs. Her hand then appeared out of one of the vents. Wildvine then grabbed the piece of paper it was holding. Wildvine heard a familiar beeping sound and turned back into Ben.

"Only one more game left to play", said Mommy Longlegs. "Sad, Mommy was hoping you'd stay here forever. Though, it's never too late to change your mind". Mommy Longlegs then gave a dark chuckle before disappearing. They then heard they sound of a roller door open.

"There's no way she's just gonna let us go back to the Game Station" said Gwen.

"Do you think we have a choice?" Asked Max. They then walked through the opening, they entered through the hallway. They then went up a spiral staircase, and made it to what looked like a railway that was ran by carts.

"These tracks must go under the factory" said Gwen.

"We don't have time to search all the areas", said Max. "So, stay together". They walked down the tracks, seeing broken toys and blood on the floor.

"Ugh, this place gives me the creeps" said Ben.

"I agree" said Gwen. They then saw a green cart that was filled with toy parts. They then saw that the tracks lead to a bordered up door, behind a roller door. When then heard the sound of crinkling and saw a smashed VHS tape, next to a piece of paper.

"What's this?" Wondered Ben as he picked up the piece of paper.

"It's an incident report" said Max.

"What's it doing down here?" Asked Gwen.

"It says", said Ben. "That an employee was attacked by something '50 ft long with a thousand legs'".

"Well, THAT'S comforting" said Gwen sarcastically. They then heard an alarm and saw a roller door open behind another roller door.

"What is that?" Asked Gwen, sounding scared. When the roller door was fully up, they saw a figure that looked familiar.

"Huggy?!" They all said in shock. They got ready to fight, but that changed when the figure came into the light. It did look like Huggy Wuggy, but it was pink. THIS was-.

"Kissy Missy" said Max.

"Hello" said Kissy Missy in an sighing-like tone.

"You know what she is?" Asked Ben.

"I remember seeing her toy on the shelf" answered Max.

"Do you need help?" Asked Kissy Missy.

"Yeah, if you could open the door?" Asked Ben.

"Very well, hold on", said Kissy Missy before pushing the lever down. "There we go". The roller door started to roll up.

"We'll meet again soon" said Kissy Missy before walking away. She left before the roller door went all the way up.

"Did, did a toy just help us?" Asked Ben.

"I, think she did" answered Gwen. They then walked up to the cart.

"Maybe we can use this to smash the door down?" Suggested Ben. Max then used the grab pack to move the cart and fling it into the boards, smashing through them. They then walked through it and eventually saw a hole in the ground. They then jumped into the hole and it took them to the entrance of Whack-a-Wuggy and then entered the Game Station.

"There's only one game left" said Ben. He then walked up to the the levers and pulled the last one down. An audio then played.

"Geez, have you played these games before? You're so good. Seems like you're ready for the final game, Statues. Follow Mommy down the stairs one last time, I hope you had a fun day at the Game Station, see you next time".

"Hopefully, there won't be one" said Ben. The final hatch then opened up.

"Let's go" said Max. They then walked down the hatch and through the concrete hallway.

"Okay, be prepared for anything", said Max. "We could be staring down another monster". However, the lights turned on, it looked like a playground.

"Well, this is creepy" said Ben. A T.V then turned on.

"Welcome to Statues, this advanced obstacle course is designed to test your physical endurance and strength, the rule are simple. The lights will turn off, you can walk through the obstacle course at this time. When the lights turn on, you can not move. You may move again, once the lights turn off. PJ Pug-a-Pillar, will follow you, if he reaches you, your test is over". A large, pug-catapiller hybrid approached.

"Well, that's not creepy" said Gwen nervously.

"So, all we gotta do is run the obstacle course?", asked Ben. "Sounds, uh". He was interrupted when the lights in the control room came on.

"It was always so~ sad to see the kids go", said Mommy Longlegs. "They called me mommy because I was the closest thing they had to one. They come for games, and never come back. They left Mommy to die a lone, Mommy didn't deserve that. But, one of you, one of you knew about what was happening here. So, if anyone deserves to die alone, it's you". The lights in the control room turned off. The lights in the obstacle course turned off. The Tennysons then started running.

"We need to get out here, fast" said Ben.

Lights on.

"But, how?" Asked Gwen.

Lights off.

"If we can get to the upper platforms", said Max. "We can get to the control room".

Lights on.

"But how?", asked Ben. "My watch is timed out, and your Grab Pack can't hold all of us".

Lights off.

"I have an idea" said Gwen.

Lights on.

"Really?", asked Ben. "What's that?".

Lights off.

"There's a levitation spell that I've been practicing", said Gwen. "I can use it to get us to the control room and we can get out".

Lights on.

"Okay", said Max. "The next time the lights go out, use it".

Lights off.

"Leviara mortuis" said Gwen. All three of them were then on top of a pink energy disk and the floated up to the control room, smashed the window and entered the control room. They then saw a large hole in the floor.

"JUMP!" Shouted Ben. All three of them then jumped into the hole. When they landed, they found themselves in a cave system. As they started the walking-.

"Where did you go?", asked Mommy Longlegs. "The game is over, you've won. Come back and Mommy will give you the code, pinky promise".

"I don't think we should trust her" said Ben.

"No duh" said Gwen. They then crossed a huge gap.

"Mommy knows the game was rigged", said Mommy Longlegs, sounding desperate. "But, Mommy's just decided you won. *insane chuckle* Come back".

"I think she's losing it" said Ben.

"Ya think?!" Shouted Gwen.

"The rules were so simple", said Mommy Longlegs. "You die, Mommy gets to watch. *insane laugh* come back to me!".

"Definitely losing it" said Ben, now getting scared.

"Keep running" said Max.

"HOW DARE YOU DISOBEY ME!", shouted Mommy Longlegs. "I will find you! I will find you! And when I do! *insane laugh*".

"And now she's completely lost it" said Ben.

"WHERE ARE YOU!".
