Chapter 8
Playcare
The three of then walked down the tracks until they got an old run down station with 'Playcare' written above it. Ben, Gwen and Max then climbed onto the platform.
"Wonder where this goes to?" Asked Ben.
"I'm guessing it goes to that 'Playcare' Ollie was referring to" answered Max.
After traveling into one of the side rooms, they saw that there was a big pole with two wheels and some flaps on it. Max then got an idea. He used the Grab Pack to launch the blue hand at the power source, then launched the green hand at the flaps on the wheel, turning it around and onto an outlet, restoring the power.
"There we go" said Max. They then went further up the station until they got to a cable car station.
"Guess I know where we're going next" said Ben. Gwen walked up to the cable car and tried to open the door, but it wouldn't budge.
"It won't open" said Gwen.
"Must run on it's own power source" said Max. He then saw two different switches on each side of the room. Max then launched both hands from his Grab Pack and pulled them down. Suddenly, the cable car door opened with a rusty clang.
"Next stop, where ever this goes" said Ben. They walked into the cable car and the doors slammed shut. The cable car then started to move. Then the T.V turned on.
"Hello, my name is Elliot Ludwig. When you look around at the world today, what one thing do you think it needs more? I asked around once. Money; 'I never have enough'. Understanding; 'I can never get any'. Faith; 'the common man has lost it'. Each one was different, and perhaps, I could see some truth in each of them. But each one, was also missing something. Something, simple. You see, not one of them could muster a smile. A smile is hope. A smile is love. A smile, is understanding. And there is nothing more gratifying to my soul then being the reason for a child's smile. To be the spark that ignites all their hopes and dreams. For it is only through hopes and dreams that we may create a better world. One where our children need not be afraid. One where our children are protected. After all, this company and it's toys would be nothing without them. These children deserve to smile, they deserve to love, they deserve, a safe home. That is why, that with enormous pleasure, as the founder of Playtime Co, I announce…Playcare! Our very own on site orphanage. But it's not only that, it's a school, a play house, a place to belong. Our very own ecosystem beneath the surface. Dedicate in every inch and detail to ensuring a child's smile. It's teachers and counsellors, mothers and fathers, until such a time they have all of that in you. May Playcare bring joy, inspiration and smiles to all who enter these doors. For what gives life it's meaning, if not a smile?"
The cable car stopped, the doors opened and they walked out.
"Whoa" said Ben and Gwen in awe.
They heard the phone again and Max answered it.
"Pssssst, it's me again, Ollie".
"Hey there, Ollie" said Max.
"Cool place, right?," asked Ollie. "The kids use to live here….now look at it. Anyways…do you see that statue in the middle of the room?" Ben, Gwen and Max looked to a giant statue in the middle of the room with seven animals on top; a dog, a pig, a rabbit, a unicorn, an elephant, a bear and a chicken. There was an eighth one, but it was knocked over.
"Yeah, we see it" said Ben.
"Take the stairs that go under it", said Ollie. "There's a really cool room in there that powers literally ALL of Playcare! I can give you a key down there". They walked to the statue and saw a door. They opened it, walked down the stairs and were now in a new room. There, they found a key inside of a tube. Max then took it and placed it on his belt.
"So, you got the key?" Asked Ollie.
"Yeah, we got the key" said Gwen.
"Now, you're probably wondering where it goes, right?" Asked Ollie.
"Well, yeah" answered Ben.
"Well, head back out", said Ollie. "There's a door just to the left of the cable car you took down here". The three of them then walked up the artificial hill towards the door. Max then opened it and they walked inside.
