Episode 82: A Fan with a Plan
While traveling to Fortree city for Mew's next Gym Battle, Mew and her friends have decided to make a stop in a quaint little town called Rubello Town.
"Here we are, guys. What do you think?" Brock says.
"I think it's nice," Zinnia says.
"I think we should check out the Pokemon Center while here," Mew says.
But then Max notices,"Oh, wow! Mew! May! Look at that!"
Everyone turns to see a poster for an upcoming Pokémon Contest.
"Cool. It's a Poster for a Pokemon Contest," Max says.
"I forgot Rubello Town has a contest coming up," May says.
"Hey look, the opening is tomorrow night," Mew says.
"Are you both planning on signing up?" Jen asks.
"You know it, "Mew says.
"Of course," May says, "We just need to know where to sign up."
But Brock notices, "Wait a second," and notices the poster has something else that reads, 'R1' "R1? Wonder what that means.
"Good question," Mew and May reply.
Later on, Mew and the others arrive at the Pokemon Center, hoping to get some more information on the upcoming Pokemon Contest, and to rest up and gather supplies.
Luckily, Nurse Joy has the answer, "R1? It means One Ribbon, it's part of the entry rules."
"One Ribbon?" Molly questions.
"What does that mean?" May asks.
Nurse Joy then asks, "Have any of you won a contest ribbon before?"
"Yes. Actually, I've won two of them," May says.
"Me too. I've got two ribbons as well," Mew says.
"That's perfect! Then you're in!"Nurse Joy says.
Then explains, "See. This Contest is Class R1, which means each contestant must have won at least one ribbon to enter."
There are several classes of contests, and this one is in the R1 class, meaning you only need the minimum requirement of one ribbon to enter. It's the Grand Festival Rule that we used for all our contests.
"I haven't heard of the Grand Festival," May says.
"Well, I have," Mew says.
"Why doesn't that surprise me," A familiar voice speaks out.
The group turns to see Drew.
"Oh, hi Drew," Mew says.
"Hey," Drew says.
"Are you entering the contest, too?" May asks.
"Yeah. It's small-time for me, but it's great practice since I want to enter the Grand Festival like every other coordinator. Then again, not all coordinators just stumble across contests just a day or two before they begin," Drew says.
This makes May irked, "Excuse me, Drew, but I happen to have won two of the contests I entered," And shows her ribbons, I'd hardly call that stumbling."
"Well, if you say so. I'm just telling you how it looks to me," Drew says.
"Come on, Drew. Don't me like that. I actually earned two ribbons myself," Mew says.
"Sounds good, but you still have a few ways to go of being a coordinator," Drew says.
Mew rolls her eyes, "Oh brother.
Suddenly, they hear a bunch of girls screaming before they see five of them surround Drew. One of them shows him all of her keepsakes, another shows photos she took from every contest he had ever been in.
One woman asks, "Could I have your autograph, please?"
"No, I don't do that," Drew says.
But the ladies were still enamored with Drew, regardless, while May and Mew just sweat dropped.
"I had no idea he was such a star," May says.
"Yeah, the ladies love him," Tomo says.
"Makes me glad I wore a disguise," Mew whispers.
May understands, knowing that if anyone discovered Mew's identity. They'll be all over her.
Soon, someone walks over, "Excuse me, but aren't you Norman's daughter May from Petalburg City?"
The group looks to see a woman wearing an ivory shirt, pink pants, an orange cloth tied around her waist. She also has a red contest ribbon around her neck, like a pendant.
"Yeah," May answers.
Then notices Mew, "And you wouldn't happen to be Ashley, the trainer from Pallet Town in the Kanto Region?"
"Yes. That's me," Mew answers.
"It's true! I was right!" The woman says, excited.
Then turns to the ladies, "Hey guys, come over here! I've got Norman's daughter, May! And her friend and fellow coordinator, Ashley!"
The ladies crowding Drew soon start crowding around May, allowing Drew to walk away while one of the ladies shows her Norman keepsakes.
"Norman happens to be my dad, too. Meaning May is my sister," Max says.
"I know who you are, young man, Norman's son, Max," The woman says.
"That's right," Max says.
One lady says, "I can only imagine what it's like to know your father is a famous gym leader."
Another asks, "Tell me, Max, will you follow in your dad's footsteps and become a great gym leader like him?"
"Max just chuckles sheepishly.
The girl asks, "A question, the girls and I are just wondering, are you girls going to enter the Rubello Pokémon Contest?"
May sweat drops, "Uh, yeah."
"We most certainly are," Mew says, sweats drop.
The woman says, "I knew it! I'm going to be entering the very same contest as May and Ashley!"
"Couldn't you just die," One of her friends says.
"Just think! This contest could go down in MFP history!" The second friend says.
The third friend says, "Best of luck, Savannah. We'll be in the grandstands cheering you on!"
Then the girls perform a cheer as they clap and chant in excitement.
"Wow. They're really into it," Tomo says.
"I'll say," Zinnia says.
Then Molly asks, "But what does MFP mean?
"It's short for Mothers For Pokémon," The woman with the ribbon, Savannah means.
"Are there any openings?" Brock asks.
"What is it?" Zinnia asks.
One of the girls explains, "You see, we've formed a club consisting mainly of wives and mothers who just love Pokémon and Pokémon Contests."
The other woman says, "We started out just sitting in the audience as spectators, but after a while, we decided to get to know each other and started entering contests ourselves."
Then the third friend says, "Still, the only one of us who's ever won a ribbon is Savannah. She's the pride and joy of our little group."
Savannah then says, "You're being way too kind. Me winning that contest was just beginner's luck," and shows the ribbon she wears around her neck
Then one woman says, "Say, how about we throw a welcome party for May and Max?"
"A great idea," The second girl says.
But then the woman looks at Mew, "Hold on. You there with the Pikachu and Eevee on your shoulder, haven't I seen you before?"
"Um well, maybe," Mew says, nervously.
"Let me check my list," The woman says, and checks her list, "Oh, dear. Looks like none of you are in my list of promising young trainers, other than being a coordinator."
In her thoughts, Mew is relieved. She was worried that someone might have discovered her identity
Meanwhile, outside, a familiar trio comes across the poster for the contest.
Jessie happily says, "This is great! My ship has finally come in! Another Pokémon Contest! Mark my words, I'll win big time!"
"You're going to enter, Jess?" James asks.
Meowth then looks at the poster, "If so, you better find out what's wit dat R1 business, foist.
At the Contest Hall, Jessie does just that.
Jessie screams in anger, "What did you say?! I don't think I heard you, so run that by me again, bub!
"Yes, ma'am, "The receptionist says, "The Rubello Pokémon Contest is actually an R1 class competition, which means only coordinators who've won at least one ribbon or more are qualified to enter."
"What's your point?" Jessie demands.
Receptionist says, "My point?! You're not allowed to enter because you've never won a single ribbon!"
This leaves Jessie in shock, "Is that what R1 really means? Maybe I won a ribbon, or maybe I forgot I won one. Come on, you guys, please tell me I won at least one ribbon."
The boys answer, "Not that I know of."
Meanwhile, at the restaurant in the Pokémon Center, our heroes were having lunch with the MFP.
"You know, May, it's such a privilege to be part of the same contest that you, Ashley and Drew are competing in," Savannah says.
May blushes, "Come on. Well, maybe Drew."
"Yeah. I don't know. I'm new at it," Mew says.
The woman says, "May, you're selling yourself short. You were incredible in the Verdanturf Contest."
Another woman says, "And Ashely, your performance in Lumina City was amazing."
May giggles, "You mean it?"
"Thank you," Mew says.
"We haven't missed a contest in years. If your performance was lackluster, we would've said so," The girl says.
"But what we're telling you is you're both doing very well," The woman says.
"You mean it?" May asks.
"Besides May, you've obviously raised that Skitty of yours very well," one of the fans says.
Another says, "I'll bet you get your okémon training skills from your father."
"You must be a Pokémon prodigy," The third one says.
May blushes, "Prodigy? Me? Well, thank you, but I don't see how that's possible. I just try to do my best."
"You certainly are doing your best. I'm still trying to fully understand the contest since I've been doing gym battles longer," Mew says.
"That's true, but you've got the hang of it no problem," May says.
"Thanks May," Mew says.
The other girl, "Anyway, what Pokémon will you both be using in the contest?"
"I haven't really made up my mind," May says.
"Me neither. I'm still trying to think about it," Mew says.
Then May asks, "Have you decided yet, Savannah?"
"Not yet," Savannah says.
One of her friends says, "I know, If you let May and Ashley see your Pokémon, they can help you pick."
"Sure. I'd love to see what Pokémon you have," May says.
"Me too," Mew says
"I don't know. I don't want to make this too big a deal," Savannah says.
Later, the rest of the MFP take their leave and bid Savannah farewell. Savannah also says their goodbyes.
"What kind of list are they talking about?" Max asks.
"Well you know how it is, a mother's work is never done," Savannah says.
"What kind of work?" Tomo asks.
"I think it's house chores. Remember the members are mothers," Mew says.
"You are correct. We're all mothers. There's so much to do. Groceries to buy, kids to pick up after school, housework to take care of. It's a never-ending job, you know."
"I hear you," Brock says. After my parents left me in charge for several years, I had to run the entire house and care for my brothers and sisters all by myself, till my parents came home."
"Surprising, a man who truly understands what a parents goes through," Savannah says
"I guess," Brock replies.
"It's true. I've met them his siblings before, and after all that traveling, I've learned how hard Brock works," Mew says.
"Thanks Ashley, but remember you've been working hard as well, learning how to do chores and other needs," Brock says.
"Well, Brock, one day you'll be in very high demand," Savannah says.
Brock blushes and asks, "Yeah? Do you really think so?" He then says, "I can picture that happening, for certain," and soon gets lost in his fantasy, "The ladies will love me. A domestic god!"
"Yeah, you'd be a regular household heartthrob," Max says, sarcastically.
Later, at the fountain in the center of town, Savannah shows off her Pokémon.
Savannah says, "I'd like you to meet my two Pokémon, Lairon and Flareon."
"Cool," Mew says, "Lairon has a nice shine on its body."
"And that Flareon's coat is really beautiful," May says.
Both girls bring out their Pokedex.
Mew's Dextette says, "Lairon, the Iron Armor Pokémon. A Steel and Rock Type. Lairon is the evolved form of Aron. By drinking nutrient-rich spring water, it strengthens its steel body."
May's Dextette says, "Flareon, the Flame Pokémon. A Fire Type. Flareon is one of the evolved forms of Eevee, should a Fire Stone be used to evolve it. The air it inhales is ignited by a flame inside its body and expelled as fire.
Soon, Savannah says, "I guess I'll be using both of them for the Contest."
"Both of them?" May asks
Savannah says, "That's right. The Rubello contest will be held under Grand Festival rules, so coordinators are allowed to use different Pokémon in the appeals and battle rounds."
"There's a lot of rules," Jen says.
"I agree, but I still haven't decided which Pokémon to use for which round," Savannah says.
"Me, neither," May says.
"Looks like Pokémon Contests are more complicated than we thought," Mew says.
May nods in agreement.
Later, the gang are in the marketplace looking around.
Brock then notices, "Hey, Savannah, you gotta check this out. You never see perfect tomatoes this time of year. Just think what a great salad they'd make."
Savannah says, "You're right Brock. You really know your vegetables.
Brock blushes, "Well, maybe, but if I'm gonna be a heartthrob in the apple of every woman's eyes. I gotta know every food group."
Zinnia asks, "So, girls, did you pick what Pokémon you'd use for the contest?
"Not yet," May says.
"Me neither," Mew says.
"Skitty was great in the Fallarbor Contest, and Beauitfly is great no matter what," May says, "But still, Torchic and my other Pokemon have great potential, too."
"I know what you mean. Eevee did great when we first got into Pokemon Contests. Azumarill and Florges were great too. And my other Pokemon can be great too," Mew says.
Then Max says, "Well, until you register, you don't have to make a choice, right? So you've got plenty of time to figure it out."
Meanwhile, Brock is amazed, "No way! Look at that turnip! Yum!" and tries to reach for it.
But someone else grabs it, "I'll take that, thanks."
The little girl has purple hair, wears a purple jacket, a green shirt, and has a grocery bag.
Savannah says in surprise, "Sandra?"
"Mama?" The girl, Sandra
Brock mutters, "Turnip thief."
Zinnia asks, "That's your daughter?"
"She is," Savannah says. Then turns to her daughter, "Sandra, what are you doing here?
"I got home from school and you weren't there. I figured you were out with all of your MFP buddies, so I decided to head out and help you by doing your grocery shopping, just like a good girl would do for her mom," Sandra says.
The store owner walks over, "Sounds to me like you have a very considerate daughter, ma'am."
"Thanks, sir," Sandra says. Then turns to her mom, "See, mom? Not bad for a seven year old."
Savannah giggles sheepishly, "I guess so."
Then introduces her to everyone, "Everyone, this is my daughter, Sandra. Sweetie, this is Ashley with her Pikachu and Eevee. May, her brother Max. Tomo with Skwovet and Meloetta. Jen with Amaura. Molly, Brock, and Zinnia.
Everyone, including the Pokemon, says, "Hi, Sandra."
"Hi, everyone. It's nice to meet you," Sandra says.
"May and Ashley are going to compete in the upcoming Pokémon Contest. And guess what? May and Max are Norman's kids. Exciting, isn't it?" Savannah says.
Sandra is not too enthused, "Yeah, mom. Mind-blowing. I'm sorry, everyone. Mom can get a little bit carried away with this sort of thing.
"I didn't get too carried away, dear," Savannah says.
But Sandra says, "I don't mean any offense, but I do see some of you and the other members of the MFP in action from time to time."
Savannah chuckles sheepishly.
And Mays says, "Actually, your mom has been very helpful to me in regards to preparing for the upcoming Pokémon Contest."
"See?" Savannah says.
"Well, that's good," Sandra says. Then turns to Mew, "Ashley, do you mind if I hold your Pikachu?"
"Sure, go ahead," Mew says
Pikachu leaps into Sandra's arms.
Sandra cuddles with Pikachu, "You're so cute. You know what? I want to be a trainer, too. That way I can try to enter the Hoenn League with my own Pokémon."
"Good for you, Sandra," Mew says.
"My mom went on a Pokémon journey of her own a long time ago. I know it's heard to believe," Sandra says.
"Well, I did, but that was so long ago," Savannah says, embarrassed.
Sandra then asks, "Mom, do you think it'd be okay to invite them over for dinner tonight?"
"What a great idea," Savannah says. Then turns to the group, "How does that sound to all of you?"
"Sounds great!" The group agrees.
"I will be more than happy to help you in the kitchen," Brock says.
Savannah and Sandra say, "You've got a deal."
Later in the night, at the Pokemon Center, Mew and May are practicing some of their Pokemon's attacks and try to decide which Pokemon to use.
May calls out, "Go, Torchic, use Ember and Peck!"
Torchic fires the first attack, but seems confused as to how to use the second.
Mew calls out, "Braixen, use Flamethrower!"
Braixen performs the attack.
Then May calls out, "Beautifly, Silver Wind and then String Shot, go!"
Beautifly launches the first attack, but the String Shot, once it's fired, falls apart after being hit by the Silver Wind.
Mew then calls out, "Silveon, use Fairy Wind! And use Swift!"
Sylveon performs Fairy Wind, and then Swift Attack.
May calls out, "Now, Skitty, use Blizzard and then Double Slap!"
Skitty launches the first attack, but the second one does nothing.
"Trop Kick, Tsareena! And use Sweet Scent!" Mew calls out.
Tsarenna performs Trop Kick as she performs Sweet Scent.
"Bulbasaur, Vine Whip and then use Tackle!" May says.
Bulbasaur sends out her vines, but ends up tripping on them during the Tackle, prompting May and her Pokémon to run up to her, including Swablu, Mudkip, and Mew and her Pokemon, along with her Shiny Milotic rush over as well.
"Are you okay, Bulbasaur?" May asks.
"Bulbasaur." (I'm alright.) Bulbasaur answers.
"This isn't looking very good," May says.
"It's okay, May. I'm sure we can think of something," Mew says.
May starts thinking about what the MFP said to her that day before giggling.
Then May says, "We'll be fine. How could we go wrong? They called me a Pokémon prodigy, remember?"
"Um yeah," Mew sheepishly says.
Suddenly, they hear Drew's voice, "Go, Masquerain!"
"Was that Drew?" May asks.
"It sounded like him," Mew says.
They go to see for themselves and find Drew training with his Masquerain. Masquerain is a light blue insectoid Pokémon with two pairs of rhombus-shaped wings on each side of its body. Its head is shaped like an elongated teardrop with a pink face and round, black eyes. On either side of its head is a large antenna that resembles an angry eye. The antennae are white with pink along the lower rim. White lines along the rim resemble eyelashes, while a large, dark pink dot in the middle represents the pupil or iris.
"Good, Masquerain!" Drew says, "That's the way! Now, do a steep climb and use Quick Attack!"
Masquerain does so.
"So that's a Masquerain," May says.
"It looks beautiful, Mew says.
May brings out her Pokedex, and Dextette says, "Masquerain, the Eyeball Pokémon. A Bug and Flying Type. Masquerain is the evolved form of Surskit. its feelers, which resemble eyeballs, help to throw off opponents. It is able to hover in the sky like a helicopter."
Drew then calls out, "Masquerain, use Bubble!"
Masquerain starts spinning around, causing several bubbles to float outward and swirl around it as May, Mew, and the Pokémon watch on.
"That's beautiful!" May says.
"Yes. It also shows it can use Water Type as well," Mew says.
"Excuse me, ladies, but if you want to study my moves, I'd recommend coming closer," Drew says.
May sheepishly says, "I see you found yourself a new Pokémon."
"You got it.," Drew says, "It's got style, grace, good endurance and crowd appeal. I looked around for a long time to find the perfect contest-winning Pokémon, and with Masquerain, I have it. And now winning this contest should be a cinch. Hope you all liked catching our little preview."
"We sure did," Mew says.
"That last bit was pretty gorgeous," May says.
"Thanks. Glad you ladies have excellent taste," Drew says.
Then Drew notices some of Mew's Pokemon, "Hey, you sure got some interesting Pokemon?"
"Thanks. They're my good pals," Mew says.
"Pretty cool. Never seen a Tsareena, Braixen, and a Sylveon up close before," Drew says.
Bulbasaur starts talking with Masquerain.
Drew also notices Bulbasaur, "So, May, looks like you've got a new Pokémon as well."
"I sure do," May says.
"A Bulbasaur, that and Mew's Pokemon are rare to find in the Hoenn Region," Drew says. Then asks May, "You plan to enter Bulbasaur, May?"
"I still haven't decided yet," May says.
Then turns to Bulbasaur, "Come over and say hi to Drew."
But Bulbasaur was too busy talking with Masquerain.
Mew giggles, "Looks like Bulbasar is a little too busy talking with Masquerain."
"I don't know. Looks like a discipline problem to me," Drew says.
"I wouldn't call it a problem. Bulbasaur just gets a little excited about seeing anything new. She's just very curious," Mew says.
However, May turns to Drew and angrily says, "No way, and I am using Bulbasaur."
"Sure you can handle it?" Drew asks.
"Of course I can, thanks. I'll see you at the opening ceremony tomorrow night, Drew," May says and walks away with Bulbasaur following behind.
"I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this," Mew says, sounding worried.
Drew then turns to Mew, "So have you decided which one to enter?"
"I'm still trying to decide, but I'm sure I'll decide by tomorrow," Mew says.
The next day at the Pokemon Center, where all the Coordinators were preparing for the opening of the contest that night. Bulbasaur looks around and seems a bit nervous before everyone else comes up behind her.
"How's it going, May?" Max asks.
"You seem tense," Zinnia says.
"We're heading out to take care of some shopping, want to come?" Brock asks.
"No thanks. Bulbasaur and I have a lot of practicing to do," May says.
Everyone is shocked to hear it.
"Wait May, you were actually serious about entering Bulbasaur?!" Mew asks, shocked.
"Of course I am," May says.
"But you only just got your Bulbasaur. Don't you think you should train it a bit longer?" Max says.
"Oh, come on. It'll be fine," May says.
Then May asks Mew, "So which Pokemon are you going to use?"
"Well, I've given it a lot of thought, and I've decided to have Braixen do the Performing Round and for the battle, I'm going with Tsarenna. She's really itchin to get back into battling," Mew says.
"I can see that. She's one tough Grass Pokemon," Brock says.
Tsareena brushes back her hair and says, "Tsareena," (Thank you, Brock.)
"And I've seen you practice with Braixen since she evolved, I'm sure she'll do great," Max says.
"Braixen," (Thank you, Max.) Braixen says with a smile.
"They both said thanks," Mew translates.
Mew then turns to her right, "Hey, isn't that Savannah."
Sure enough, they see Savannah with Lairon and Flareon.
And Savannah is looking nervous, "There's, no reason to be frightened. The more we work in front of an audience, the better we'll be. This is only the biggest audience we've ever performed in front of, right?"
Flareon agrees, "Flareon." (Yeah.)
"Lairon." (Sure is.) Larion says.
"Just, imagine that the audience is nothing but a field of trees and flowers and your stage fright will disappear," Savannah says, and drops to her knees, "No! I can't go through with it!"
May and Mew walk over.
"Savannah?" May responds.
"Are you okay?" Mew asks.
"May, it's you! And Ashely, too," Savannah says, "Please, help me. Can you help me practice? This is only my second contest and I'm completely scared out of my mind!"
May says, surprised, "No way!"
"Then that must mean the ribbon you have around your neck was from your very first contest win," Mew says.
"Yes, it wasn't really that big of a contest. I guess I was just lucky, too," Savannah says.
She looks down to notice Bulbasaur; kneels down to her level, "Oh, it's a Bulbasaur!" And hugs her, "You're so cute. When I was a little girl, my first Pokémon was a Bulbasaur."
"Yeah. They're really cool, aren't they?" May says.
Savannah stands up while holding Bulbasaur, "These days, my Bulbasaur lives with my mom and dad. They just couldn't bare to let it live anywhere else.
Meanwhile, the rest of the gang are shopping around. Pikachu and Eevee decide to tag along while Mew and May practice for their contest.
Then Pikachu spots someone, "Pikachu Pika! (Sandra!) He then runs over and hops on Sandra's shoulder, "Pika Pika!" (Hiya, Sandra!)
Sandra sees Pikachu and says, "Pikachu! Hey!"
"Out shopping again?" Brock asks.
"Your mom's lucky to have you," Tomo says.
Sandra says, "Yeah, well, when she's gonna compete in the contest, there's really no time for her to do any errands, so I'm just helping her out a little, that's all. Besides, she's doing stuff for me all the time."
Meanwhile, at the fountain, Mew, May and Savannah were about to begin practice.
"Thanks for helping me out. I hope you're ready, because I'm gonna give it my all!" Savannah says.
"Go for it!" May says.
"I'll be judging this battle and we'll go by the Contest Battle rules," Mew says.
"Right," The two respond.
Then Mew announces, "Then, let's begin!"
Savannah calls out, "Lairon, Metal Claw!"
Lairon prepares to throw the attack
May then calls out, "Bulbasaur, use Vine Whip!"
Bulbasaur does so and blocks the Metal Claw
"Wow! I love watching a Bulbasaur's Vine Whip! That was really good, Bulbasaur," Savanna says.
May sheepishly says, "Wow, this isn't going to be easy."
"Go, Flareon, Flamethrower!" Savannah says.
Bulbasaur fires the attack.
May then calls out, "Razor Leaf, now!"
Bulbasaur fires the attack, "
Savannah gets excited, "Awesome! That Razor Leaf was the best!"
Then May sheepishly says, "Thanks, but, Savannah…"
But then, three mechanical arms grab May's pack and Savannah's ribbon and yank them away. Then the third one reaches into Mew's bag and pulls out her ribbon case, pulling it away.
"Hey!" Mew cries out.
"Our ribbons!" May cries out.
Savannah shouts, "Those aren't yours!"
They all look up and see Team Rocket in their balloon.
Jessie:
Prepare for trouble because they're mine today!
James: (less enthused)
If you can't win em, steal em, is what we always say.
Jessie:
To prevent my entry status from devastation.
James: (less enthused)
To allow a certain contestant to complete her registration.
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of losing to someone like you.
James: (less enthused)
To extend her winning streak from 0 to 2.
Jessie:

James: (less enthused)
And James.
Jessie:
Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light
James: (less enthused)
Do me a favor and surrender now or I'll have to fight.
Jessie:
This contest will have a new cute entrant by tonight.
Meowth: (bored)
Meowth, dat's right.
Wobbuffet:
Wobbuffet. (This is boring.)
"Team Rocket!" Mew shouts.
And May says, "Give us back our ribbons!"
"Without them, we can't enter the contest!" Savannah says.
"Of course, don't you think I know that? But now, I can enter instead!" Jessie says and tosses May's pack back down, after taking her ribbon case.
May catches her backpack, "You think you're so smart. Bulbasaur, give them a Razor Leaf."
Mew calls out, "Tsareena, use Magical Leaf!"
Both Pokemon fire the attack.
Jessie then tosses her Pokeball, "How about a little Whirlwind, Dustox?"
Dustox comes out and launches the attack, blowing the leaves and petals all over the place.
"Oh, no!" May and Mew cry out.
That's when Brock, Zinnia and the others arrive.
"Guys, what's going on?" Zinnia asks.
"What's Team Rocket up to now?" Tomo asks.
"They stole mine, Ashley, and Savannah's contest ribbons," May says.
Everyone gasps in shock.
Savannah calls out, "Flareon, use Flamethrower!"
"Braixen, use Flamethrower too!" Mew calls out.
Both Fire Pokemon launch the attack, but Wobbuffet stands in the way of the attack.
"Wobbuffet!" (I've got this!) Wobbuffet says and uses Mirror Coat to protect his teammates.
"The king of deflections," Jessie says.
"Wobbuffet." (My pleasure.) Wobbuffet says.
Then Jessie calls out, "Now, Dustox, use Poison Sting!"
Jen calls out, "Amaura, use Ice Beam!"
Amaura uses Ice Beam and freezes the attack.
Brock then calls out, "Mudkip, Lombre, use Water Gun!"
Both Pokemon come out and fire the attack, only for Wobbuffet to deflect them with Mirror Coat, as well.
"Why, thank you! Wobbuffet needed a bath today anyway!" Jessie says.
"Wobbuffet!" (Nice and clean!) Wobbuffet says.
Then Team Rocket begins flying away.
Sandra calls out, "Hey! You get back here!"
"Sandra, wait!" Savannah calls out.
Everyone goes after her
"You can't just take my mom's contest ribbon and get away with it!" Sandra calls out.
"Come back, Sandra!" Savannah says.
Then Jessie calls out, ""Dustox, give that little girl a warning shot with Psybeam."
Dustox fires the attack, prompting Sandra to stop.
Savannah cries out, "Sandra!"
"Look out!" Mew cries out.
May then calls out, "Bulbasaur, use Vine Whip!"
Bulbasaur does so, saving Sandra before the attack hits her.
Seeing her daughter almost getting attacked, Savannah has had it, "Alright that does it. No one attacks my daughter!" Then calls out, "Flareon, Flamethrower, go!"
Jessie says with confidence, "Go ahead, Wobbuffet!"
"Wobbu…Wobb" (On it!… Huh?) Wobbuffet says, but soon looks up.
The rest of Team Rocket looks up to see Flareon's Flamethrower hits the balloon itself, causing it to go crashing down in flames. Mew and the others rush over.
"Alright Team Rocket, give us back our ribbons!" Mew says.
But Jessie is not giving up, "I'd give Meowth and James up, first!"
"Excuse me?" The boys question, annoyed.
"Hey, come on. You know that I can't enter the contest without any ribbons, right? Work with me here," Jessie says.
"Maybe you should quit while you're ahead, just like when you left us in da doit wit dat gym badge scam of yours in Kanto," Meowth says.
"Yeah, no one's gonna believe they're yours!" Jessie says.
"Hey! That's not true!" Jessie says, offended. However, she decides to give up, "But, fine. You can have your ribbons," She then tears Savannah's ribbon off her neck and tosses it back to Savannah, "Take them," tosses May and Mew's ribbon case back to her, "I don't want them."
Savannah is relieved, "My ribbon."
"They're both here. I'm so happy." May says.
Mew also says, "Mine are still here too. I'm glad.
"Good, but you made our day," James says.
And Meowth asks, "Now could one of you please put out our boining balloon?"
"I guess so," Mew says.
But then Sandra has an idea, "I have an idea," She turns to her mom, "Mom…" And whispers into her ear.
"Yeah. Okay," Savannah says with a nod.
Then both Savannah and Sandra call out, "Lairon, use Water Pulse!"
Lairon's eyes glow bright blue before a pulsation of blue energy forms under Team Rocket, which puts out the fire but also creates a geyser that sends Team Rocket upward
James and Meowth cry out, "This isn't exactly what we meant! And ungrateful twerps are the worst kind!"
"We're blasting off again!" Team Rocket cries out.
Savannah says to her daughter, "Thank you, Sandra. You really are a mother's dream come true. You've been such a great help."
"I know. And mom, win the contest for me, okay? Oh, and mom, I know it's not easy having a kid, but this one thinks you're the best trainer and mom there is," Sandra says.
Savannah was touched by her daughter's words
Sandra says to the Pokemon, "And Bulbasaur, thank you for saving my life."
"I agree. If you and your Bulbasaur weren't there to help out, Sandra would've been seriously hurt," Savannah says.
"I have to agree," Jen says.
"Bulbasaur's got a mean Vine Whip," Tomo says.
No wonder she and Ash's Bulbasaur got along so well.
"I'd say you two are ready for the contest after all," Max says.
"Thanks, guys," Mays says. Then turns to Savannah, "So, I'll see you in the contest tomorrow?"
"You bet. And with you, Ashley and Drew as my competition, it's gonna be a good challenge. Best of luck, girls," Savannah says.
The group smiles.
By coming to the aid of new friends, May and her Bulbasaur have gained some much needed confidence. Now they can look forward to tomorrow with optimism, as the Pokémon Contest in Rubello Town is set to begin.
