Kokabiel Arc Chapter 35: Fallen Invasion: Part 2
The Element 4 smirked as they began to glow purple. Meanwhile, in the center of Kuoh Town, while the Crimson Dragon Gang members fought off the fallen angels, the pedestal suddenly began to glow and shift from orange to purple, catching them off guard. The crystal ball at its center then shot a purple beam of light several miles into the night sky above the town. The beam came to a stop, drawing a massive purple magic circle in the air, its size comparable to that of a lake. The circle slowly rotated before positioning itself directly above Kuoh Academy, charging up its attack.
"ARE YOU INSANE?! WON'T THE POWER OF THAT BLAST DESTROY YOU ALL AS WELL?!" Rias yelled at the fallen angels.
Kokabiel smirked in amusement. "Do you honestly believe we'd use such a powerful spell without ensuring it wouldn't harm us, Rias Gremory? Such a shame for you all—Judgment Day has been invoked."
As the Abyss Break prepared to fire, the members of Biblical Vanguard and the Four Salamanders panicked, scrambling to figure out a way to stop it. Thinking fast, Jiro summoned his Boosted Gear gauntlets, his fiery aura flaring to life. He cupped his gauntleted hands together at his left hip, forming a fireball that rapidly grew in size, shocking those around him.
"Jiro-kun?! W-What are you doing?!" Irina asked, wide-eyed, though deep down, she had a feeling she knew.
"DOMINATE DRAGON'S SECRET ART... BRILLIANT FLAME..."
The massive magic circle unleashed the Abyss Break, the sky igniting in a brilliant purple glow as the beam of destruction shot down toward Kuoh Academy. Everyone looked up in horror, feeling utterly helpless.
"KA... ME... HA... ME... HAAAAAAAAAA!"
Jiro roared, thrusting his arms upward as a colossal blast of flames erupted from his palms. His fire attack rocketed into the air, colliding with the Abyss Break, illuminating the night sky in a violent clash of red and purple. The impact generated a massive shockwave, sending fierce gusts of wind and debris across the city while the ground trembled beneath them. The heat intensified, making it difficult to breathe.
The others shielded their faces, watching in awe as Jiro's flames struggled against the Abyss Break. He gritted his teeth, pushing back against the overwhelming force.
"BOOST! BOOST! BOOST! BOOST! BOOST!"
"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
With a final roar, Jiro activated five consecutive boosts, amplifying his power. His flames surged forward, expanding in size, overpowering the Abyss Break. The blast tore through the magic circle that had fired it, obliterating it completely before shooting into the sky and dissipating.
Jiro exhaled deeply, lowering his hands but keeping his gauntlets active. The others slowly uncovered their faces, staring in disbelief.
"He stopped the Abyss Break... with a single attack?!" Kalawarner, Dohnaseek, Mittelt, Freed, and Valper gasped in unison, their eyes wide with shock.
"You saved us again, Jiro-san!" Asia exclaimed, beaming.
"That was... incredible..." The rest of the team murmured in awe, their expressions mirroring the fallen angels' stunned disbelief.
"Hmph. I'd expect nothing less from Boss Jiro." Issei grinned proudly, Matsuda, Motohama, and Aika nodding in agreement.
Kokabiel chuckled darkly. "Well now, I expected you to stop the beam somehow, but I didn't expect this. No matter. We've already planned ahead for this outcome. The Abyss Break will recharge in two hours. In the meantime, we'll slaughter you all." He spread his cloak dramatically.
As he did, a multitude of fallen angels materialized behind him, and four massive magic circles appeared beneath them. Flames erupted from the circles, and from within them, four monstrous Cerberus hounds emerged, their bodies dripping with magma-like liquid as they let out earth-shaking roars.
The sight made Rias scowl. "So he really did capture the guard dogs of Hades."
"This should be fun," Aika muttered, cracking her knuckles.
"So you say," Jiro replied coolly. "But that's where my team, Biblical Vanguard, comes in—to put a stop to you." He gestured confidently toward his allies.
Kokabiel sneered. "Your little team? Biblical Vanguard, you call yourselves? Ha! You think they stand a chance against me and my followers? You're nothing more than a nuisance, an insignificant insect to be crushed. But very well, I'll entertain your challenge. The Abyss Break will be fully charged in two hours. If you wish to stop it, you must defeat and kill my generals—the Element 4 and their Excaliburs. Let the showdown begin. I'll enjoy proving just how much of a mistake it was to oppose me."
With that, he raised his hand. A bright purple flash momentarily blinded them. When the light faded, the fallen angels and Cerberus had vanished.
Then, in the distance, came the sounds of roaring Cerberus and explosions.
"Well, damn. Looks like the fallen invasion part two," Jiro muttered, scowling slightly.
"What do we do, Lord Jiro?" Ravel asked, stepping closer.
Jiro turned to his team, his expression serious. "Here's what we're going to do now. Listen up—here's who will be fighting who..."
The group got focused and attentive, listening to him intently as he prepared to assign them their opponents for the upcoming battles.
"Issei, Aika, Matsuda, and Motohama, as I mentioned earlier today, you'll be reangling those Cerberus while the others fight the fallen angels. I can sense that the 'Element 4' fallen angels, with their Excalibur fragments, have a Cerberus with them. However, one of them has two, for some reason." Jiro explained, turning to his four gang members, who responded, "You got it, Boss Jiro," with excited smiles.
"Good. As for the rest of you, Koneko and Ravel, you two will be fighting Mittelt. She has low-level magic, but judging by the thickness of her aura and the fact that she possesses Excalibur Mimic, she most likely has strong defensive abilities. Koneko's Rook and Satan Gravity abilities are well-suited to handle Mittelt's defenses, while Ravel's support with her powerful Phoenix Flames will be crucial." Jiro said, pointing to them.
Koneko and Ravel nodded in acknowledgment, understanding that they would face Mittelt together. "Got it, Boss Man. Let's take her down, Ravel. Can't wait to flatten her like a pancake," Koneko said, cracking her knuckles and revving her Ether Gear.
"Understood. I'll provide the necessary backing fire with my flames. Don't worry, we won't let her get the better of us. I look forward to fighting alongside you, Koneko," Ravel said, summoning flames into her hand with a determined smile.
"And I'll go with you two. Gotta support my Kohai sisters while fighting that Cerberus, after all," Aika said, stepping forward, to which the girls smiled.
"As you wish. Now then, Kiba, you'll be fighting Dohnaseek. He's the one with two Cerberus with him. Like Mittelt, I can sense he has low magic, but judging by how thin and light his aura is and the fact that he has Excalibur Rapidly, he can definitely make up for it in speed. That makes him a good match for your sword skills as Rias's knight." Jiro said to the swordsman, who had a conflicted look on his face, which Jiro noticed.
"Look, I get you want to go straight for Valper, but at this stage, you're the only one who can take Dohnaseek in a fight. But once you're done with him, you can slice Valper up all you want. I know you can beat him," Jiro said, tenderly yet firmly.
Kiba looked at him, then down at the Holy Element crystal in his hand, lost in thought. Memories of his lost friends and their pain, along with Valper's face, flashed through his mind as he gritted his teeth. He sighed, closed his eyes, placed the crystal in his pocket, and looked back up at Jiro, understanding the strategic reasoning behind his matchup and the trust Jiro had in him.
"Understood. Dohnaseek's speed will be a challenge, but my swordsmanship can compensate. I'll do my best," Kiba said in a determined tone as he equipped two swords in each of his hands. The others smiled tenderly and sympathetically, understanding his inner conflict.
"And we're going with you, pretty boy," Matsuda said as he and Motohama stepped forward.
"Yep, you're gonna need a duo like us to deal with those two Cerberus," Motohama said, adjusting his glasses with a confident smile.
"Yes, that's much appreciated," Kiba said, smiling.
"Great. Now, Rias, Akeno, and Raynare, you'll be fighting Kalawarner. I can sense that, along with Excalibur Nightmare, she has the strongest magic abilities behind Kokabiel, making her a good match against you three, with your powerful magic. Rias with her Destination Power, Akeno with her Lightning and Holy Lightning, and Raynare with her Light Energy Magic. So, you three handle her. And remember, whatever she creates with that sword, or whatever you might see, is just a dream or an illusion, so don't be fooled by it and don't hesitate to blow it away." Jiro said, pointing at the three mage-types.
Rias, Akeno, and Raynare listened carefully to his assignment, comprehending that they would face Kalawarner together. They nodded in understanding, confident in their combined magical abilities to counter Kalawarner's.
"Understood. We'll take care of Kalawarner. Together, our magic will overcome her power. I'll use my destruction capabilities, Akeno will unleash her Holy Lightning, and Raynare will provide support with her Light Magic," Rias said confidently.
"We're with you on this, Rias. Our combined magic should be more than enough to take her on," Akeno said, smiling.
"Don't worry, we won't falter against Kalawarner. We'll combine our strengths and triumph over her and her illusions together. Let's make sure she regrets underestimating us," Raynare said, cracking her neck.
"And, of course, that leaves me to go with you ladies. Can't wait to fight that Cerberus," Issei said, stepping up to them.
"Of course, that will be very helpful," Rias said, smiling appreciatively as Akeno giggled.
"Yep, we'll take good care of you, Ise," Raynare said, winking flirtatiously at him, earning another glare from Rias as Akeno giggled again. Issei chuckled sheepishly and said, "Uh, sure."
"Anyway, now, last but not least, Irina and Xenovia, I know you're dying for this one. You two are fighting Freed. From what I remember in Irina's story and my past encounters with him, he was a skilled swordsman, so he'll be a good match for you two. He's wielding Excalibur Blessing, so be on your guard," Jiro said, pointing at the two angels.
Irina and Xenovia listened intently to his assignment, recognizing that they would face Freed in a two-on-one battle. They nodded, determination evident in their expressions.
"Of course. We'll take care of Freed-kun," Irina said, gripping Ascalon's handle.
"Together, we'll neutralize this threat. And while we're at it, he has a bit of explaining to do in regards to his allegiance," Xenovia said, her expression conflicted, though Irina shared the same concern.
Jiro looked at them sympathetically, already feeling as though he knew what would transpire in their coming battle, but once again chose to stay focused on the task at hand.
"Good. Asia, you'll be coming with me. Gotta make sure you don't get hurt while you enchant everyone. The rest of the Crimson Dragons will keep the school and the people inside of it safe. And... if it wasn't already obvious... I'll be fighting Kokabiel myself," Jiro said, transforming into his true form—Dragon Force. His red pupils glowed and changed shape to resemble dragon eyes. His teeth sharpened into fangs, revealed by his grin. A red mark, resembling a flame, formed on the left side of his forehead, going over his left eye. Large red dragon wings and a tail sprouted from his upper and lower back. The Boosted Gear gauntlets on his arms became dragon claws, completing his draconic appearance. The sight of his Dragon Force form sent a shiver down the group's spines, despite having seen it before; it still caught them off guard every time.
They processed his words properly, and his declaration of taking on Kokabiel alone left the group in a state of concern and skepticism. While they recognized his strength and confidence, they worried about his well-being, facing such a formidable opponent by himself.
Rias: "Jiro, are you sure about facing Kokabiel alone? He's incredibly powerful. We should be there to support you."
Xenovia: "Jiro, we're not doubting your strength, but Kokabiel is known for his immense power. Facing him alone could be dangerous."
"Heh, 'facing him alone is dangerous'? Coming too close to us as we throw down is even more dangerous," Jiro said, chuckling.
Akeno: "Jiro-kun, it's not about underestimating your capabilities. We just want to help and ensure safety for all of us."
Kiba: "Your strength is unmatched, but fighting Kokabiel alone might be too risky. We don't want to see you in harm's way."
Koneko: "We trust your skills, Boss Man, but Kokabiel is no ordinary foe. Let us help, Dawg."
Ravel: "I agree with everyone else. It's not about questioning your power, but rather ensuring a safer battle with our combined efforts, Lord Jiro."
Jiro looked at them over his shoulder with a stoic expression, contemplating their pleas.
"Hey now, consider allowing us to help you. Taking on that demon, Lullaby, and stopping the Abyss Break is one thing, but I've seen the kinds of things Kokabiel can do. I've seen him destroy entire cities with minimal effort. Together, we stand a better chance against him. And wasn't it you who told me not to get too cocky during fights?" Raynare said, her eyebrows furrowing, but concern was evident.
"Jiro-san, none of us are questioning your strength. We just care about you and want to ensure the best outcome for everyone. Please, let us stand by your side. Your safety means a lot to us. We can cover each other's backs and emerge victorious without any unnecessary sacrifices," Asia said softly, her hands folded together.
"I agree with the others. Jiro-kun, please reconsider. You're strong, no doubt, but Kokabiel is on another level. We all want to watch your battle, but not at the expense of your safety. Let us support you. Together, we can ensure victory without taking unnecessary risks," Irina said, the concern evident in her expression.
Jiro's gaze softened as he looked at them, considering their words. He closed his eyes, briefly, before opening them again with a resolute expression.
"...I appreciate it, but it would be more risky if any of you got caught up in it. I'll do fine against him, trust me." He said, smiling reassuringly. However Irina still has a hint of concern.
"You and that arrogance, I swear. I understand your reasoning, Jiro-kun, and I admire your self-assurance. You're a powerful and skilled fighter, and your confidence is valid. However, it's also important for us to consider potential vulnerabilities and risks. Even the strongest warriors can face unexpected challenges, and having allies to support you in battle can significantly increase the chances of success and survival. We care about your well-being and want to contribute to your victory. Let us stand by your side as a cohesive unit. Together, we can achieve greater outcomes," Irina said, her voice almost pleading.
"I know you all care. And, like I said, I appreciate it, but I could never forgive myself if I let my fight be the cause of any of you getting hurt or worse, especially you, Irina. Trust me, I can handle him. By the time the fight's over, your jaw will be on the ground," Jiro said, still smiling reassuringly.
"Give it up. We know the Boss well, and when he says he's going to fight someone, there's no stopping him," Issei said, drawing their attention. His fellow Salamanders nodded in agreement.
After a moment of contemplation, Irina and the others nodded reluctantly, showing their agreement but still expressing concern.
"Fine, you win. And I understand your perspective, Jiro-kun. We trust your capabilities. If you believe you can handle Kokabiel alone, we'll respect your decision. Just know that we care deeply about your safety and want to be there for you through this battle. No matter the outcome, we're here for you. If you decide you need us, we'll be ready to step in and support you at any moment," Irina said, now sporting a smile. The others did the same, though Irina secretly still worried.
"Thanks, Ri-Ri-chan. Now, all of you, I'm sure you can sense where they all are. You know who to fight, so get moving," Jiro said, turning to the group.
"Please take care, and come back safely. We'll all be waiting for your return," Asia said as she floated up on her Nimbus Cloud toward Jiro.
"RIGHT!" they all yelled in unison before flying off toward their respective adversaries.
"Alright, let's go, Asia," Jiro said, extending his left claw/gauntleted hand for her to take.
"Okay, but where are we going, Jiro-san?" Asia asked as she carefully took his claw.
"To the big boss, of course," Jiro replied, smirking as he placed his right index and middle fingers to his forehead and Instant Transmissioned them to where Kokabiel was waiting.
Upon arrival, they found themselves outside Kuoh Town. The city was a good distance away, its lights shimmering in the distance against the dark night sky. The sounds of explosions and spells being cast echoed from the town, signaling that battles were raging all around.
"Well, well, I had a feeling you'd come straight to me. Quite the look for you. 'Dragon Force,' is it called? Oh? And you brought the little nun with Twilight Healing," Kokabiel said, looking down at them from a large throne floating in mid-air.
"Kokabiel," Asia muttered, floating behind Jiro on her Nimbus Cloud.
"Why wouldn't I? You're the guest of honor. It's only right I come and find you," Jiro replied, smirking and revealing his fangs.
"So you say. But are you sure it was a good idea to leave your little team and pack of thugs unsupervised? And without their healer?" Kokabiel replied with an amused smile.
"Of course, they're more than capable of handling your goons. I trained them myself after all," Jiro retorted, matching Kokabiel's amusement.
"Aha, ha, ha, now that's rich. Raynare, I can understand a little, but do you honestly believe your band of misfits can last against my followers? Especially with some of them being devils going up against Excalibur wielders?!" Kokabiel laughed heartily.
"I don't just believe it, I know it. Just you wait and see, they'll all go even further beyond," Jiro said confidently, his smile unwavering.
"And I may not be there with them, but I can still help them from here," Asia said, floating out from behind Jiro. She spread her arms and began to glow with a green aura.
"I cast this enchantment upon my dear friends..."
"DEUS CORONA!"
Asia cried out, and her green aura expanded. The members of the Biblical Vanguard, as well as the 4 Salamanders, felt their magic power surge. The Salamanders were caught off guard and slightly confused, but the Vanguard members smiled, knowing it was Asia's magic. Compared to their previous encounter with Riser's peerage, this boost was even greater.
"Nice going, Asia. You're even capable of doing it from this far away," Jiro said as he patted her head with his claw/gauntleted hand.
"Hehe, yeah, those laps I did over the past three weeks helped me increase my stamina and expand my magic reserves a lot. Now, not only can I suppress the drawbacks of their special abilities a little longer until they finish their fights, but I can enhance them by five times," Asia explained, beaming with pride.
"Glad to hear it," Jiro said, genuinely impressed.
Kokabiel chuckled as he summoned his scouter, placed it on his ear, and pressed the button while looking at Asia. "Well now, so you taught the little nun how to use Enchantment Magic? Her power level raised to 355. I must say, for a human, that's quite impressive. But don't think their little boost will be very effective against the Cerberuses and The Element 4," Kokabiel said, his smile turning smug.
"Heh, we'll just have to wait and see," Jiro retorted, unfazed.
"Yes, we shall. In fact, why don't we watch as your team is slaughtered?" Kokabiel said, raising his hand and summoning a multitude of large, square magic screens above them, each displaying footage of the battles unfolding across the town.
"Sounds good to me. Can't see them breaking their limits," Jiro said as he watched the screens intently.
"Everyone, please be careful," Asia whispered, her gaze fixed on the screens.
Ravel, Koneko, and Aika flew toward where they sensed Mittelt would be. Aika had quickly adjusted to the sudden power-up after Ravel and Koneko explained that it came from Asia, and the others did the same with the other three Salamanders. As they flew, they found themselves in the Entertainment District, which seemed an odd location for a battle.
"Heeeey! Long time no see, cute little devil!" Mittelt called loudly, catching the girls' attention.
They turned to see Mittelt sitting at a round table with an umbrella sticking out of the middle, casually eating a parfait.
"We meet again, rat bird," Koneko said in her usual deadpan tone, taking a fighting stance alongside Ravel and Aika.
Mittelt's eyebrow twitched at the insult from before, but she didn't seem overly concerned.
"Yeah, we do. But this time, I've got better help. Sick 'em, boy!" Mittelt shouted, snapping her fingers.
Suddenly, a loud roar echoed through the district, and a Cerberus burst from a nearby building, its claws swiping at them. The three girls jumped back just in time to avoid the deadly claw slash, landing a few feet away. Ravel and Koneko immediately took a new fighting stance, but before they could react, Aika stepped in front of them.
"Woah there. Boss's orders. That pooch is mine," Aika declared, cracking her knuckles as her fiery aura flared up.
"Ha! You think a human can take on the guard dog of hell, girl?!" Mittelt laughed, nonchalantly eating another spoonful of her almost finished parfait.
"Oh, I think I can," Aika said confidently, her fist igniting in flames, going from Salamander Flames to Prometheus Flames. She then leapt toward the Cerberus, drawing her fist back before launching a flaming punch right into its middle face. The explosion sent the Cerberus skidding across the ground, tearing up the pavement as it crashed into another building.
"Is that all you got, doggie?! Cause I'm just getting started!" Aika yelled, her fists flaming once again.
Koneko, Ravel, and Mittelt watched in shock, particularly Mittelt, who had clearly underestimated the human girl before her. Finishing her parfait, Mittelt summoned her Excalibur Mimic, transformed it into a spear, and flew toward Aika. But before she could reach her, Koneko and Ravel intercepted her, delivering simultaneous attacks—Koneko throwing a gravity-enhanced punch while Ravel fired a blast of Phoenix Flames.
Mittelt was forced to block by morphing her spear into a shield. The combined force of their attacks sent her flying back into the air, landing several meters away.
"We'll go after her! Are you alright against that Cerberus by yourself, Miss Aika?!" Ravel called out as she and Koneko unfurled their wings.
"Of course. You saw that punch. Especially with Asia's enchantment, I can handle this dog. You girls take care of her," Aika replied confidently, reigniting her Prometheus Flames in her right hand and her Salamander Flames in her left.
Ravel and Koneko sensed the change in her energy and nodded.
"No prob. Let's go, Ravel," Koneko said, and Ravel answered, "Yeah!" as they took off after Mittelt.
They flew deeper into the shopping district and saw Mittelt dusting herself off while picking up her weapon. They landed a few feet away from her, standing side by side.
"I hope you're ready, because you're fighting us!" Ravel declared, summoning her Phoenix Flames in her hands.
"Gotta admit, you're pretty good, fire girl. And you've gotten way better, white hair. You've got a power level of 1,002, and the walking torch is 1,210, not bad. But then again, so have I. Maybe even better," Mittelt said, turning her shield back into a spear and eyeing them through her scouter.
"We'll see about that," Koneko retorted, revving her Ether Gear.
Kiba, Matsuda, and Motohama flew through the air, chasing after Dohnaseek and his two Cerberuses. They found themselves in a darker, quieter part of town, not far from where they had fought the stray devil/demon, Viser. The only light came from the dim street lamps, casting long shadows over the area.
Suddenly, two loud roars echoed through the night, startling them. The Cerberuses burst out of two buildings on opposite sides, charging toward the boys. Kiba was about to dodge and counterattack, but before he could, Matsuda and Motohama flared their flaming auras, shot toward the Cerberuses, and blasted them in the face with both Salamander Flames and Prometheus Flames. The powerful blasts exploded on impact, sending the dogs flying back as they howled in pain.
"Well, well. Didn't think two humans could knock back two Cerberuses," came a deep voice from above. Dohnaseek descended, hands in his coat pockets and a smug smile on his face.
"Dohnaseek!" Kiba muttered under his breath, Requipping a sword into his hands.
"How's it going, pretty boy?" Dohnaseek teased. "Ready to finish what we started a month ago?"
"Of course," Kiba replied defiantly, taking a fighting stance. "I'll defeat you, stop that Abyss Break, and then go after Valper."
Dohnaseek smirked. "Heh, that's some confidence. But can you actually back it up, kid?" He activated his scouter and read the results. "A power level of 873, not bad."
Matsuda and Motohama flared their own flames again, standing ready.
"Yo, Kiba, you deal with that old crow!" Matsuda called out, summoning his Prometheus Flames in his right hand and Salamander Flames in his left, an excited grin on his face.
"Yeah, we'll handle these dogs like Boss Jiro said!" Motohama added, his expression mirroring Matsuda's as he mimicked his flame technique.
"Of course!" Kiba replied, preparing to engage Dohnaseek.
Dohnaseek laughed. "Less talking, more slashing, boy!" He flew toward Kiba, who unfurled his wings and shot upward to meet him head-on.
Rias, Akeno, Raynare, and Issei flew into the park where they sensed Kalawarner's presence. They landed in a clearing not far from where the team had been training, looking around cautiously. Issei glanced at Raynare and Akeno, his curiosity piqued.
"Hey, Raynare, you're a fallen angel, like the rest of them. And Akeno, I heard you're half fallen angel. Doesn't it feel bad fighting against your own kind? Aren't they like your friends?" Issei asked, raising an eyebrow.
Raynare and Akeno turned to him, both a little taken aback by his question. They answered honestly.
"Well, not really," Akeno said with a casual shrug. "I've disliked most fallen angels for a long time, for... personal reasons. So, this isn't anything new. Besides, even though I'm embracing my fallen angel side now, I still consider myself a full-fledged devil. I'm part of Rias's peerage, after all." She flashed a smile toward Rias, who returned it with an approving nod.
Raynare crossed her arms under her chest, deep in thought before speaking. "Jiro asked me something similar a while ago, and my answer remains the same. Kalawarner, Dohnaseek, and Mittelt never saw me as a friend, nor have I in vice versa. They only saw me as a means to gain favor from Kokabiel, and honestly, I thought the same of them. Freed? Ugh, he was far from a friend. Hell, they were ready to kill me the moment I chose to break away. And now, all these people we're fighting are traitors to the fallen angel faction and the supernatural world as a whole, so getting rid of them is necessary." Raynare shrugged nonchalantly with one hand raised, her left hand resting on her hip.
Issei thought for a moment before responding. "Guess you're right. Can't argue with that logic."
Raynare then added, her voice firm, "Also, you heard me earlier. I've found a new path—one full of loyalty and the desire for peace. That's why I stand with my real friends now. I'm part of the fight for that. So, I have to defeat them here and now."
Issei, Rias, and Akeno exchanged looks, all smiling in appreciation of her mindset.
Before they could continue, a mature feminine voice rang out, one that Raynare recognized instantly.
"Fufu, that's some conviction. However, can you carry it through to the end, Raynare?" Kalawarner's voice echoed as she descended, hovering just above them.
The four of them snapped their heads toward her, preparing their magic.
"Kalawarner!" Raynare scowled, summoning two light swords.
"Oh, and you brought the Ruin Princess, the Priestess of Thunder, and one of those fire brats. I welcome the challenge. If you can overcome my Cerberus, that is," Kalawarner said, her smile smug as she snapped her fingers.
A roar split the air as the Cerberus appeared, charging out from the trees toward them. The three girls were ready to attack when, suddenly, Issei shot forward, flames erupting from the soles of his feet. He flew above the Cerberus, narrowly dodging one of its snapping jaws. Grabbing the fur on top of its middle head, Issei shot flames from his feet again, performing a front flip that threw the beast over his shoulder. It slammed into the ground with enough force to shake the earth and send dirt flying.
The four women watched in stunned silence, especially Kalawarner.
"My, my, your boyfriend sure is strong, Rias," Akeno teased, her voice playful.
"Hmph, yes he is," Rias replied with a smirk, surprising Akeno.
"To think a human could do that to a Cerberus," Kalawarner muttered, staring at the beast lying on the ground.
"You ladies take care of her up there. As you can see, I can handle this dog," Issei said with a grin, backing away from the Cerberus.
"Of course. Just be careful, Issei," Rias said, a hint of concern in her voice.
"I will. In fact, I won't just beat it—I'm gonna tame it!" Issei added, his mischievous smile widening.
The others stared at him in surprise, but said nothing more. Meanwhile, Rias, Akeno, and Raynare turned their attention back to Kalawarner, their expressions now serious.
"I hope you're ready, because you're facing all three of us at once," Raynare said, pointing one of her light swords at Kalawarner. Her purple aura flared as Rias's crimson aura and Akeno's yellow and blue electrical aura followed suit.
Kalawarner raised her scouter, putting it on and pressing a button as she scanned the group.
"Impressive," she remarked, glancing at each of them. "Raynare's power is at 1,307, the Priestess of Thunder's is at 1,330, and the Ruin Princess's is at 1,480. But let's see if you have what it takes to match me." Kalawarner summoned her Excalibur Nightmare and flared her own purple aura in response.
Irina and Xenovia flew over the buildings, landing on a street that led to the center of town. They sensed Freed's presence near there and began walking, but neither of them could bring themselves to enter the area with their weapons drawn. Unconsciously, they didn't want to approach with hostility.
"Xenovia-chan..." Irina murmured, barely above a whisper, without looking at her.
"Hm? What is it, Irina?" Xenovia asked, turning toward her fellow angel.
"Can we do this? Should we do this? We're fighting against our longtime friend," Irina said, her expression full of conflict.
Xenovia's gaze softened as she looked at Irina, understanding her turmoil.
"I know how you feel… but we'll try reasoning with him first, before we resort to violence," Xenovia said, attempting to reassure her.
"O-okay, then," Irina replied, still feeling conflicted but trying to stay focused.
They entered the town's square, a large circular area surrounded by buildings, with several pathways leading to different parts of the town. In the middle stood a statue of someone known to the town's residents as Ryuma—a name that felt oddly familiar to Irina. At the foot of the statue was a square white podium with an orange crystal ball, its surface swirling with strange letters and formulas and at the corners were four columns with smaller crystal balls on top. Beneath the podium was an orange magic circle, slowly being drawn.
As they approached, they noticed someone standing near the podium with his hands behind his back. It was Valper.
"So, the Red Dragon sent you two angels to stop me, did he?" Valper said, turning to look at them over his shoulder.
"Valper!" they exclaimed in unison, scowling.
"Honestly, I thought he would send Isaiah, considering his long-standing and meaningless grudge," Valper remarked, now facing them fully.
"His name is Kiba Yuuto's now, not Isaiah! And shall be here to strike you down soon enough!" Xenovia declared, furrowing her brows.
"And don't you dare say his pain was meaningless. You're the one responsible for it!" Irina growled, her fists clenched.
"Heh, so you say. The Abyss Break will be fully charged in just 1 hour and 29 minutes. Do you believe he'll be able to stop me before then?" Valper replied, his grin widening with amusement.
"Of course he can!" Irina exclaimed confidently.
"Precisely! Because we believe in him!" Xenovia added defiantly.
Valper chuckled darkly. "So you say. I take it you two aren't going to attack me, then, since you think it's Isaiah's right to do so. Why don't you allow him to keep you busy?" He gestured to his right.
The two angels turned, their gazes following his motion, and saw Freed Sellzen charging at them at full speed with a wide grin. His Excalibur Blessing was ready in hand.
"Freed!" Irina and Xenovia said in unison, quickly Requipping their weapons.
Irina Requipped her two katanas, while Xenovia Requipped her two arming swords. As Freed closed in, he unfurled his black wings and slashed at Irina, who blocked the blow. He jumped, and at the same time, took a swing at Xenovia, who also blocked with swift precision before he landed. They engaged in a fluid, fast-paced clash of blades, the sound of metal ringing through the air as they spun and danced around each other.
Freed then blocked a simultaneous strike from both of them, jumping back to land a few feet in front of Valper. He stood with his back to him, grinning widely.
"How's it hanging, ladies? Ain't reunions real nice?" Freed said, his goofy smile still in place. For a brief moment, their expressions softened, but then hardened again.
"Are you sure it was wise not to bring a Cerberus, not check your scouter, or have any other fallen angel soldiers here to assist you, Freed? Those two seem to be quite skilled," Valper remarked, raising an eyebrow.
"NO SHIT IT WAS WISE! I'M MORE THAN ENOUGH TO CUT THESE BITCHES DOWN! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR YEARS! YOU JUST SIT THERE AND WATCH, GRAMPS!" Freed yelled, a manic smile spreading across his face as he gripped his sword.
Irina and Xenovia felt his words sting, but they kept their emotions in check. They, too, gripped their sword handles tightly, ready for the fight ahead.
A little ways outside of the town, three individuals stood atop a hill, watching smaller magic screens in front of them.
"This should be interesting to watch," Sirzechs said, his eyes fixed on one of the screens.
Gabriel looked at the screen before turning towards him, her expression tinged with regret. "Though it's such a shame we can't intervene. Since we faction leaders are forbidden from engaging in combat in this world."
Sirzechs nodded, his face reflecting the weight of that restriction. "I feel the same, Gabriel. Especially knowing that my sister is fighting among them."
Azazel, leaning casually against a tree with his arms crossed, smirked. "Yeah, it's a damn shame, but these kids are sure to make a name for themselves. Soon, the entire supernatural world will know their names—and the name Biblical Vanguard." He glanced at the screens, recording all the footage. His tone was both amused and proud.
Gabriel and Sirzechs shared a brief, understanding look, chuckling quietly as they watched the unfolding battles, despite the tension in the air.
To be continued
And cut
Now, to commemorate the start of the final battle of this arc I'd like to thank Kuroshiragami0 and Some1call4MR-E for being my first followers and first reviewers and reviewing consistently on multiple new chapters. Its stuff like that and from my other reviewers that give me the motivation to continue this story. :)
Now then, since it returns in this chapter I'll be responding to Some1call4MR-E's review about Jiro's Dragon Force for chapter 11.
1. In a way, yes its pretty much the same thing Issei did with his arm when he fought Riser in the main story, but here Jiro did it to his entire body. And in regards to Fairy Tail, Dragon Force is said to be the true form of the Dragon Slayer or those with the power of dragons. Jiro's normal human appearance is more of a concealment form so he can walk amongst humans and conceal his power in a similar way to Frieza's first, second, and third forms before his fourth form (which is his original form)
2. Yes I will have a flashback for Jiro, regarding his time apart from Irina during those 10 years and how he became a dragon. And on that note, no he didn't transform his human spirit and soul to that of a dragon's. His life span was increased and he may live much longer than humans, but he's not immortal nor does he have the life span of dragons like Ddraig, Albion, etc.
3. No, Tiamat is nowhere near the level of Acnologia in this story. She may be the strongest of the Dragon Kings, but there's no way she's taking on a Dragon God.
4. In regards to Irene Belserion, I know she was the first Dragon Slayer and the creator of that magic, but is she part of this story, is she not... who knows... ;)
5. Respect to all Fairy Tail fans. I salute you. :)
Now then, next chapter we start the battles between Biblical Vanguard and The Element 4.
See you there ^^
