« Daddy? »

Callie gasped at the sight of her father standing in front the window of Arizona's room. It felt like the ground was crumbling under her feet.

What was happening? Was it a sign she had gone too far by lying to him? Did he find out the truth and was going to lecture her. Her mother who she had just reconciled with would be so disappointed in her, one more time… Which also meant Arizona and Sofia would have to suffer.

« Oh my god, Calliope! » the older man smiled at her proudly, his eyes watering with emotion. « I'm so happy! »

As he approached his daughter and hugged her in a tight embrace, Callie was trying to understand what was happening. She was trying to focus as her eyes landed on her ex-wife and her ex- in-laws. There was no doubt, her father had seen what he should have never seen, and now it was time to come clean. She had longed to be a part of the intimate moment happening in that room, being with the woman she loved, her heart was breaking, Daniel raised his head and their eyes met. The older Robbins had recognized Carlos Torres, embracing his daughter and he was taken aback, but maintained a perfect poker face, frowning lightly like he wanted Callie to notice he had seen everything, before turning his attention back to Arizona.

« Please Daddy come with me... » Callie said as she grabbed her father's arm and walked him to the nearest empty room, a supply closet.

She opened the door and invited her father to follow her, sighing as she saw the worry in his eyes.

« Calliope what's wrong why aren't you ... »

« Please Daddy, listen to me. » Callie cut him off. « I.. What are you doing here in the first place? »

« Well since you left, after your visit, your mother and I thought we were going to hear from you and your family on a regular basis and when we didn't hear from you, we were worried and wanted to make sure everything was alright with the three of you, we decided we wanted to surprise you by coming to Seattle. It was your mother's idea. She really wanted to spend time with you and Sofia. And she really wanted to make sure Arizona felt like she was welcome into the family. She refers to her as her daughter now, you know. She's been really impressed by her and by the way she looks after you and Sofia. »

The revelation came like a wrecking ball to Callie.

She had ruined everything, and now that she was able to recognize she was still head over heels in love with her ex-wife, her mother was giving her everything she had craved for years: acceptance, love and respect for her wife, well her ex-wife, and she had messed up everything between her and Arizona,...

Tears filled her brown eyes, she gulped as she tried to come up with an idea that would satisfy everyone.

« I.. It's so hard Daddy... » were the only thing she was able to say as her father took her into his arms tenderly, trying to ease the sobs that were now freely escaping her.

« What's happening mija. I mean, I know you have been through a lot with your mum, but I don't get it. Why aren't you with your wife? Why are the in there Robbins alone with her? It's your family, it's our family. And I can't wait for Lucia to know that she's going to ... »

« Stop it Dad, please! » Callie snapped. « I can't do this. I can't... »

« Calliope Iphigenia Torres, what's going on? » Carlos asked, not understanding what was going on, torn between worry and confusion.

« Arizona is pregnant. » Callie almost coldly stated. »

« Yes, I saw... » Carlos replied. « And that's a good thing. Lucia was right! She felt it, but she thought maybe she was just trying to get her hopes up »

« It's complicated! » Callie snapped again. « I understand you're... excited and everything but you can't tell Mom. »

« Why? »

« Because.. » Callie lamely replied, trying her best to find a way out this mess. « Because we are not together… at the moment. »

« What the hell? » Carlos yelled. « What are you saying? »

« It's complicated. » Callie repeated.

« Calliope, a couple of weeks ago you were with us in Miami, you and your family. And everything seemed okay... »

« I know, but it wasn't and as I told you I don't really know how to explain this... » Callie said, clenching her teeth.

« Well young lady, you better start trying to explain to me what's going on, because otherwise I will find out for myself! » Carlos retorted. « You can't do this to your mother. What was it in Miami. Was it oh let's play pretend? And this child Arizona is carrying, I'm hoping its yours at least? »

Callie nervously took a deep breath and rubbed her eyes, trying with all she had not to make the situation worst.

« I... We were on a kind of a break, and she agreed to come to see you with me, for Sofia's sake, and mine. » Callie lied. « We are having some... problems and it's not been easy for a few months. »

« What happened? » Carlos asked.

« I... Nothing, life happened. We were too busy working on our career's that we lost sight of each other along the way. » She lied again. « And then we tried to have a baby to bring our family back together, but it didn't work out that well... »

« Are you still married? » Carlos asked his daughter.

« Why are you asking that? »

« Answer me! » the older man insisted.

« We... I don't... » Callie mumbled. « Yeah, sure... »

« So that means that child is yours, and we are his grandparents. » Carlos stated. « I don't know what happened, but I know you and I know you are not telling me everything. But what I know is that woman loves you Calliope. I don't know who's responsible or what caused this mess, but you better try to do whatever it takes to fix it ! »

« You don't understand Dad, but I can't tell you anything more... » Callie was almost speechless. « But I'm not the only one in this relationship. I can't force her to take me back. »

« Do you love her? » Carlos inquired.

« What? » Callie shook her head.

« Do you still love her? »

« I have always loved her. I love her so much it hurts not to be with her every day. She's... She's the love of my life. I have never been so much in love with anybody. » Callie sincerely said, tears rolling down her face. « And I'm sorry I am a disappointment you and Mom, really, because, I have never wanted things to have ended like it did. »

« Listen to me Calliope, we are proud of you, and I know that you will do anything you can to make everything right. You deserve all the happiness in the world mija. And I know that only Arizona Robbins can make that happen. » Carlos emotionally replied. « You'll get through anything because you are made for each other. And it's not a little bump in the road that is going to break your family. I only hope that whatever happened between you, she didn't cheat on you again, or otherwise... »

« It's all on me this time Dad. I am the one who let the situation degenerate, and I... » she was cut off by her pager. Saved by the bell she told to herself, but totally confused at what she had told her father, what was admitting her true feelings and what was downright lies.

« I'm sorry I have to go, but can we meet you and Mum at 6 in front of the hospital? I will have Sofia, she's going to be so excited! » Callie said.

« Great. We're going to check into the Archfield, so I can see how the business is doing. » Carlos said. « But I need to know more about the house you bought, and what about Arizona? Will she be joining us? »

« I have to go, see you later Daddy! » Callie quickly replied and ran through the door, dodging the embarrassing question from the older Torres.

….

In Arizona's room, the emotions were all over the place.

The blonde was almost silent, but, her mother was so excited by the arrival of her future grandchildren, and seeing them on screen just increased the excitement even more .

The colonel was as usual more restrained, but his eyes were not serene. Arizona knew something was bothering him, but she didn't really want to push him into finding out why.

She was supposed to be calm, not having any kind of negative energy or drama, she needed peace, quietness, serenity, when she thought about her pregnancy.

« I would have loved to know the genders. » Barbara pouted. « Imagine if it's a boy and a girl... That would be so sweet, just like you and Tim... »

« We weren't twins Mom. » Arizona snapped, as Daniel bit his lip. Father and daughter were still on edge regarding the passing of Tim.

« Almost, you were only a year apart, and you were so close. And you liked it when people asked if you were twins. »

All Barbara received was a dark and teary gaze from her daughter.

« Sweetie, you know, it's about time we should be able to talk about Tim without being so sad, »

« Barb, don't push it, please. » Daniel warned his wife. « You heard Dr Deluca? No stress, no bad memories, only focusing on those two little humans we are going to welcome into our lives. »

Barbara shrugged and stood up from her chair, and Arizona mouthed a thank you to her father.

« I'm going to get some coffee, do you want something honey? » the older Robbins asked, feeling her daughter needed a little break. She was so like her father that Barbara knew what to do when the atmosphere was becoming tense.

« No thanks mom. » Arizona replied as Barbara nodded and left the room.

Daniel and his daughter stayed there in silence, not used to being alone in the same room, especially under these circumstances.

« You okay bug? » he gently broke the silence, knowing Arizona was an emotional mess since their arrival and even before that.

« I will be. » Arizona replied. « And what about you Dad? »

« Everything is great. » He lied.

« You're as bad a liar as I am. » Arizona replied, they both looked at each other and burst into laughter.

The laughs were more nervous than anything else, but at least it was relieving the tension.

« I know you saw Callie and Carlos in the hallway. » Arizona said. « I did too. »

« I... » Daniel mumbled. « I did. But it's none of my business. But I'd like to know why he was here, outside your room. »

« I have no idea. I don't know what's going on in Callie Torres's life, or anything about her family. » Arizona almost sadly replied. « But I think she's going to be in big trouble. »

« Well, she deserves it. » Daniel coldly replied.

« Don't say that Dad, please. She's Sofia's mother. You owe her respect. » Arizona warned him.

« I don't owe her anything bug. She put you in that bed with all that show she forced you to play in Florida. » Daniel said. « She's so selfish... »

« She didn't force me to do anything. It was a deal between us that's all. And it does not concern you at all. » Arizona said. « I can see my daughter as often as I want now. So this conversation is closed. »

« Arizona, you can't lie to me. If you are on bed rest, it's because of her and the power she had on you. » Daniel said. « That fake family life you played for the Torres lot, brought back memories and it has shaken you up. I... I am sure you still have feelings for her, even after everything she put you through. »

« She... She's everything I have ever looked for in my life. She gave me a purpose. She … She gave me a family. And I was the first one to jeopardized it all. » Arizona reminded her father. « I'm not saying that to minimize all the past months, even past years. But it's the truth. When she left me, I lost everything. I even lost myself. Ending our marriage, taking Sofia away from me to follow a resident she barely knew to New York, it… it broke me, each step, I was getting lower and lower, I felt like I was drowning…But the way I treated her after the plane crash, ending up sleeping with a woman I barely knew, it was worse than that for her I think. »

« So what? It's not a contest to know who hurt who the most is it? » Daniel asked, not understanding the point.

« I love her dad. I love everything about her. Even the bad, I love. » Arizona sobbed. « She was the love of my life. She made be a better person, she gave me Sofia. And now, I know I will never have that again with anyone else. We were supposed to have another baby together. And now she's with the woman she loved so much she sacrificed everything for, and I'm here with these babies in my womb, not even able to take care of myself. And here I was thinking I can raise tree kids on my own. It's ridiculous. »

Daniel stood up and grabbed his jacket. « I can't stay here and listen to your rambling. How can you still love that woman? You're talking a bunch of non-sense; I raised you better than that. Stop whining and get your shit together! »

With that he left the room, as Barabara looked at him, coming back with two coffees in her hands.

« What happened? »

….

Now was the best moment. She was not ready, not in the mood.

But she knew it would happen because Daniel Robbins was not a man who left a situation or conversation unfinished.

She was in her office, reviewing paperwork, waiting for the time when she could leave to pick up Sofia from school and meet her parents in front of the hospital. But a knock on her door made her jump and she immediately knew who it was.

The older man opened the door and entered the office as Callie raised her gaze to meet blue eyes.

« Dr Torres. » he coldly greeted his ex-daughter in law.

« Mr Robbins. » Callie neutrally stated. « Can I help you? »

« Sure, you can, leave Arizona alone. » He simply stated as Callie's jaw almost dropped.

« What is wrong with you? » Callie said.

« Why are you back here? Isn't your fiancé waiting for you on the other side of the country? » he reproached.

« My personal life does not concern you, and neither do my career choices. » Callie retorted.

« Arizona is lost. She's in a very dark place since you took her to lie to your family about your perfect life. She almost lost her babies because of that. » Daniel replied. « I know she hurt you, but I think you have punished her enough for that right? So please, go back to New York, respect your deal with Sofia's custody and don't get in touch with her, unless it's regarding your daughter's wellbeing. She's the only thing that ties you two together now. And there will not be anything more. She needs you out of her life for her sake. Please respect that. »

He nodded one last time and left her office leaving a devastated Callie sitting behind her desk.

Less than an hour later, the Robbins had left to stay at their daughter place for the night. Arizona was sleeping quietly for the first time in days, her hands on her rounded belly.

She seemed almost peaceful when Callie found her, entering the room, with an envelope in her hand.

The brunette sadly smiled. Sleeping Arizona as always her favourite. There was something almost childlike in the way she slept and Callie thought she was beautiful.

She walked quietly to the table next to the bed, she would leave the envelope there, so the blonde would find it when she'd woke up.

As she walked, she hit her foot against the wheel of the wheelchair against the wall.

« owwww » she couldn't stop herself.

The sound made Arizona stir, before opening her eyes slowly. Callie stood frozen on the spot as the blonde's eyes focused on her ex-wife.

First shocked to see her there, she thought it was a dream, because what would Calliope Torres be doing here?

Arizona straightened in her bed not taking her eyes off brown ones. Callie gulped at the intensity of the gaze Arizona was giving her. And as if the blonde was silently asking her, she walked to the bed, in her scrubs and sat on the edge of the bed.

Never breaking eye contact and not one word spoken, Callie tucked a lock of blond hair behind her ear, tenderly and slowly.

Arizona put her hand on Callie's and closed her eyes, bringing the brunette's hand closer and eventually resting her cheek on it, rubbing it carefully before kissing it lightly.

Totally taken aback, but also feeling the need to be close to her ex-wife, Callie leant in, their lips inches from each other. Arizona was about to close the distance, and then it happened...

Thanks Jax, you're amazing...
