Part 12
Barry walked under the crime scene tape heading for the alley that Detectives Joe West and Eddie Thawne were waiting in. He noticed that medical examiner was looking over the body that was cut in half at the waist.
"Hey Barry. The victim is a male between the ages of 16 and 18 years old. He was found with an arrow through the neck and cut in half. The doc thinks he was cut with a sword." Said Eddie
"That is an unusual method of death." Said Barry
"See if you can find any clues to who did this." Said Joe
"No problem. Uh any idea who this kid is?" asked Barry
"No. He has no ID on him. Only clue is a tattoo. A star and crescent moon." Said Eddie
Barry headed over to the body to take a closer look at the tattoo. When he saw it, he recognized it as being the same as the design on the necklace that Caitlin was wearing the other day when he learned her secret. Joe noticed the look on his face.
"Barry, is something wrong? You know this kid?" asked Joe
"No but I have seen that design of the tattoo before. The other day. Cait has a necklace with that design on it. She said that it was the symbol of a private group she joined. I will call her and see if she knows this kid."
"Does this group have a name?" asked Joe
"You won't find any record of it. You can only get in by invite and if the leader wants to let you in. She didn't even tell me the leader's name or any other member's name. She hasn't even met everyone in it."
"We may need to talk to her. See if she knows of anyone that has a problem with this group or it's leader." Said Eddie
"Right."
Barry went to work possessing the crime scene. But he was also thinking that if this kid was a werewolf that it might be the reason he was killed.
Caitlin was in the doctor's lounge drinking a cup of some of the worse coffee she ever had when her phone rang.
"Hey Barry."
"Hi Cait. I know you at work. But there is something I need to ask you."
"Sure what is it? I have a few minutes."
"It is about that necklace you had on the other day. You know when you told Cisco and me that secret of yours."
"It is the symbol of the pack here in Central. Well one of them. The bigger of the two. What do you need to know?"
"Does everyone in the pack where it? Uh do some get tattoos of it?"
"Yeah. Though getting a tattoo is a little more complicated for someone like me. Why do you want to know?"
"There was a boy sixteen or seventeen years old killed. He was shot in the neck with an arrow and sliced in half at the waist. He had that symbol tattooed on his left arm. I ran some of the blood. There is some kind of wolfs bane in it."
"He was most likely killed by a hunter."
"He had no ID on him. If you saw his face would you be able to give us a name?"
"Possibly but I know someone that would have a better chance. Send me the picture and I will get them."
Caitlin's phone chimed and she opened the text Barry sent. She had to admit he did look familiar. She was sure she had seen him hanging around Jitters. She walked to the door and asked Dr. Lawson to come in and look at the photo.
"Barry, this is Dr. Lawson. The boy's name is Jimmy Brady. He is sixteen. Andrea Carson is his legal guardian. His sister Kimberly works at Jitters." Said Dr. Lawson
"I will let the Detectives know. Thanks for your help."
Caitlin hung up and looked at her boss.
"I have a feeling that Andrea is not going to let this go easily." Said Caitlin
"You have no idea. Last time a hunter killed a member of the pack there wasn't much left for the family to bury. It is worse this time. Jimmy wasn't just a pack member. He was her nephew. Her sister's son. Kimberly and Jimmy's parents were killed in a fire six months after the Hales were killed. He was ten and Kimberly twelve. They were with other pack members that night. But two of their sisters and a brother died with their parents. The sisters were twins, and were fifteen their brother was seven. He hadn't even had his first shift. Born werewolves don't start to shift until they hit puberty."
"I knew about the puberty thing. Derek had some problems with control during that time. I spent a couple full moons after I was bitten locked in the Hale basement with him. His younger sister Cora was there the last time I went back before the fire."
"I never met Talia Hale. But I know what her reputation was. Other Alphas would seek her advice. I also know she didn't go around and offer the bite to just anyone. You are someone very special to have had her give you the bite. I know you had been injured by hunters. But there was something more to it."
"She only told me that she had a feeling that I would make a good wolf."
"That secret may have gone to the grave with her. Be prepared to be summoned to a pack meeting once Andrea finds out about Jimmy. She is going to want to find the hunter responsible and make them pay. Oh I don't think she will kill them. Not that she is innocent of killing. Most Alphas have killed at least once. That is the most common way to become an Alpha after all."
"Laura inherited her Alpha status before she was killed."
"That does happen sometimes. There is one other way. But it is very rare and hasn't happen in nearly a hundred years. It is called a true Alpha. It is someone who raises to Alpha status by sheer force of will and goodness. There might be only one wolf alive that has seen a true Alpha. But I wouldn't even begin to know where to look for her. She is one of the hardest to find."
"Satomi. I have met her. She was last seen near Beacon Hills. She is the one that taught me to mask my scent."
"I wondered why it took me so long to figure out you were a wolf."
"I know there are wolves that will kill me if I cross them. That is why I had her teach me like she did her own pack."
"True. Go get some rest. Andrea will contact you if you are needed to attend a pack meeting."
Caitlin nodded and headed out.
