The Emerald Cup had a surprise switch in it's line up, with the former champion Steeljaw having upped and replaced Demyx as Blaze's opponent and the purple cat having accepted the challenge.
"Uhhh…I'm not sure, um, is this is uh…." Chris said unsure on what to say at this and looks to a small screen in his podium which has Toffee on it.
"If you're waiting for my approval, well then…" Toffee said and then just nods granting the approval.
Chris smiles and laughs and announces "Toffee has greenlit Steeljaw's challenge! We are a go! The duel is on!" Hearing that the crowd cheers as the klaxon sounds indicating to go.
"First move's mine!" Steeljaw announces and draws a card "I draw and from my hand I summon Burning Skullhead in attack mode! Then I end my turn placing three cards face down!" Indeed the flaming skull monster is on the field along with the three face down cards.
"I'm up then." Blaze said as it becomes her turn and both players gain 1 speed counter each "And I summon Speed Warrior in attack mode!" She summons one of her most reliable monsters to the field.
"It looks like Blaze isn't going to waste any time getting on the offensive!" Chris announces "Speed Warriors attack doubles during it's summoning phase so I bet my perfect hair we're about to see an attack!"
Indeed Speed Warrior's attack goes up for 900 to 1800 and Blaze orders "Speed Warrior! Strike him with Hyper Sonic Slash!" Speed Warrior goes to do that.
"Sorry but my Zero Guard Trapcard is putting the breaks on your Speed Warrior." Steeljaw said smirking as he plays a part of a monster being hit my a laser and Burning Skullhead's attack points drop to zero "See by taking away all my Burning Skullhead's attack points I can make it invulnerable to attacks, so you can't destroy in in battle!"
Indeed when Speed Warrior hit Burning Skullhead it just spun around but knocked into Steeljaw with all that damage reducing him to 2200 Life points.
"Woah! Talk about a turn of events!" Chris announces in surprise "He saved his monster, but Steeljaw has been slammed with 1800 points of damage!"
"Why would he willingly take such a big hit?" Iroh asked confused.
"He must some sort of reason for having that monster around." Ashe deduces.
"After taking that much damage at once, his speed counters should drop right?" Caspar said and looking to the board where the speed counters remained the same. "So, um…how come they haven't gone down?"
"I give you the Doom Accelerator trap!" Steeljaw reveals a trapcard with with a race car driver in a smocking vehicle "With this one, I'll be gaining one speed counter for every 500 points of damage I take in battle, starting with right now!"
Indeed Blaze sees on her battle screen Steeljaw's speed counters go up to 4 making her look concerned. Meanwhile the audience cheer.
"Aw, what a move!" A male spectator announces.
"Unbelivable!" A female spectator calls out.
"Aw yeah!" Steeljaw cheers "That's your first taste of my new Speed Acceleration deck! Custom engineered by yours truly."
"Hey Steeljaw! I never stopped being your fan!" A male spectator called out.
"Not a bad play Steeljaw, but it will take more then that to shake me." Blaze told him and places two cards down "For now I place two cards face down and end my turn!"
The turn ends with Blaze's going to 2 speed counters while Steeljaw's is now at 5.
"My turn then. I draw!" Steeljaw said drawing a card and adds "I'm cranking this duel up a notch, with the Summon Speeder spell!" He plays a card with an armoured woman with metal wings surround by blue light "and since I have 4 speed counters I can use Summon Speeder to bust out a new monster, so say hello to Skull Vase!" The monster that cam out was a skeleton in a vase with 800 attack points but then it and Skullhead turn into blue and orange lights and go into the sky "Next, by kicking Skull Vase and Burning Skullhead to the kirb I can advance summon Skullflame!"
Indeed, what emerges from the created portal was Steeljaw's signature monster ready to battle with 2600 attack points. "Sorry cat, but I'm here to duel Predaking and regain my title!" Steeljaw told Blaze "And well Blaze, you're blocking my way, so you got to fall! Skullflame, burn up her lifepoints!" Indeed, Skullflame moves in and destroys Speed Warrior reducing Blaze's life points to 2300 and he speed counters down to 1.
"Blaze may have kickstarted this duel with a powerful attack, but the former Turbo Duel champion has just unleashed a blistering combo!" Chris announces. "And instantly almost evened up the score!"
"Man Steeljaw is on fire!" The spectator who said he was Steeljaw's fan called out.
"And I'm just getting warmed up." Steeljaw said with a grin under his facemask. "Prepare for the real heat as I activate the Speed Booster trap card!" He platys a card which was of a boost engine with missile launchers attacked to it.
The tutorial AI begins to play and explain about the card
"Speed Booster, allows you to deal damage equal to the difference between you and your opponents speed counters multiplied by 100" The AI explained.
Back at the duell the Speed Booster engines appear on Steeljaw's runner and he speeds off down the track.
"Man, this bot is quick" Caspar said while Blaze looks surprised.
"Welcome to the real world of Turbo Duelling cat!" Steeljaw called out "If you can't keep up, you're going to get left behind!" He laughs "I came here to burn rubber and take names Blaze, and no one is going to stop me from winning the chance to get my title. See when I was the number 1 ranked Turbo Duellist in the world I learned to defend my title by repeatedly deflecting from all directions just like my monster but I also learned to stay at the top you got to dish out damage hard and fast so get ready to feel the heat!"
"Talks a lot, doesn't he?" Iroh said to Grievous.
"Unfortunately, he's able to put his money where his mouth is in this case, because he's earned a big advantage" Grievous points out.
They watch the duel and Blaze seems to smile a bit.
"Did Blaze just crack a smile?" Caspar asked noticing.
"I didn't see that, is she smiling?" Iroh asked confused and looks to Grievous "Did you see Blaze smile? Why would she smile?" Grievous just gives a smiling look figuring Blaze is enjoying herself and/or figured out a plan "Why are you smiling?"
"And now to turn up the heat Solian, I initiate Speed Boosters special attack!" Steeljaw said as the Speedbuster launches missiles at Blaze which she avoids but her life points go down to 1900.
Blaze's friends gasp as Chris announces "Ladies and gentleman this is a whole new Steeljaw we're seeing! He's totally reinvented himself!"
"I'm on the fast track to glory! No one can stop me!" Steeljaw announces smirking as he lays down a face down "Don't blink or you'll miss me! I bringing a whole new intensity to Turbo Duelling! I'm gonna leave the entire world in my dust! I gonna…huh?!" His shocked reaction was when he saw Blaze was right behind him.
"You're gonna what?" Blaze asked as she draws a card.
"How are you keeping up with me?!" Steeljaw asked surprised he looks at his screen and sees a trap card Blaze has played "Slip Stream?! Oh, scrap you've got to be kidding me?!"
"Is that why she was smiling?" Iroh asked surprised.
"Sure is." Grievous said nodding and explained "And with this card in play, Blaze might be smiling all the way to the finish line. You see Iroh, since Steeljaw played a speed spell last round and Blaze had fewer speed counters then him, Blaze's counters now catch up to where Steeljaw's are." Indeed we see Blaze's speed counters were now at 6 same as Steeljaw's.
"Blaze rules!" Caspar cheers.
"Let's just hope she makes use of this position." Ashe points out.
"You must think you're slicker then slick, don't you?" Steeljaw asked.
We flashback to the start of Steeljaw's last turn who says "I'll draw. I'm cranking this duel up a notch, with the Summon Speeder spell!"
"Not so fast! I'll play Slip Stream!" Blaze said as she plays her trap card.
We return to the present.
"You know I heard some people saying you were good Blaze, but I'm afraid you're not good enough to keep up with me" Steeljaw told her and plays a trap card showing a duel runner on a glowing blue arrow "I activate Acceleration Zone!" As the card is played a blue light path comes out of it and around the track. "Just try and catch me now." He revs his runner and rides onto the path and goes very fast "Yeahhhhh! Haha!"
"Incredible! Steeljaw's speed counters has rocketed up all the way to 11!" Chris said in surprise as indeed Blaze sees his counters go up that far near to the max and growls a bit.
"Whooohooo!" Steeljaw calls out "You may think you outsmarted me by slipping in your Slip Stream last round, but my deck is so fast that no matter what card you play or move you'll make, you'll always be a step behind, but that's something you Solians have to come to expect, isn't it?"
"Well, I wonder if you expected me to play this, the Summon Speeder spell card!" Blaze called out.
"Woah! Blaze met Steeljaw's challenge with a direct counter!" Chris said in surprise, Steeljaw just smirks.
"Now with the power of Summon Speeder I summon Quilbolt Hedgehog in defense mode and Junk Syncron in attack mode!" Blaze announces as the two monsters are summoned "And thanks to my Junk Syncron's special ability I can summon another monster from my graveyard so I'm bringing back Speed Warrior." Speed Warrior indeed returns to the field in defence mode "And now I tune my Junk Syncron and Speed Warrior to Syncro Summon Junk Warrior!" Indeed the two monsters begin to sync together and combine to form one of Blaze's ace monsters "Let's burn it up!"
"All right!" Iroh, Lysithia, Caspar and Ashe all said together.
"I guess you could saying he's keeping up pace with Steeljaw." Iroh said with a smile.
"But before I attack, since the Quilbolt I have on my field is a level 2, Junk Warrior can absorb it's attack points! It's go time!" Indeed Junk Warrior absorbs the attack points and it goes up to 3100 attack before leaping in to attack.
"Heh, forget my Speed Booster trap already?" Steeljaw said with a smirk.
The two monsters clash with Skullflame successfully blocking the attack and not being destroyed.
"Oh dear…" Iroh said concerned.
"How did it stop Junk Warrior's attack like that?" Caspar asked confused.
"Remember, with that Speed Booster trap card, Steeljaw can block the same number of attacks as their difference in speed counters." Grievous explained.
"Alright so…" Caspar said looking at the board, Blaze had 6 speed counters while Steeljaw had 11 "Steeljaw is at 11 and Blaze is at 6 then…Steeljaw is able to deflect 5 of Blaze's attacks?"
"I've got to find a way to push through this." Blaze said and plays a face down "I place one card face down and end my turn!"
"Yeah, that's what I thought. I draw" Steeljaw said smugly as there speed counters go up, Blaze now had 7 while Steeljaw was at the max with 12.
"Steeljaw is totally maxed out! It doesn't get any faster then 12 speed counters people!" Chris said in surprise.
"After Predaking took my title and I failed repeatedly to snatch it back, I went into hiding to do some serious retraining." Steeljaw explained "And I realized if I was to again rule the Turbo Duels I had to put speed first!"
We see a flash back of Steeljaw's intense training riding his runner through the forest avoiding the the trees in the narrow forest.
"You're as good as done in a Turbo duel if you can't fearlessly harness the power of true speed!" Steeljaw continued as they return to the present "It's now what you do, it's how fast you do it, which I will now demonstrate by activating the Accelarate Draw speed spell." He plays the card showing a duelist quickly drawing a card "This lets me draw two more cards from my deck!" He draws two cards one a monster resembling Skullflame but as a centaur and another a spell cared of a reaper in a whirlwind strom.
Steeljaw smirks seeing the spell card and chuckles as he holds it up announcing "It's in my hand! The End of Storm spell card!"
"What?" Predaking said shocked and worried.
"He has the spell card End of Storm?!" Blaze said also shocked and worried.
"You should have stayed in doors today Blaze, you're local forecast calls for some hardcore schooling and a lot of letdown with a slight chance of annihilation!" Steeljaw said smirking "But it's too late for you now, I activate End of Storm!"
He plays the card and a storm beings to happen "From what I understand, you and Predaking have some history, so I'm sure you know what this means." He says as his Skullflame is destroyed and his life points go down to 1900 "The Storm destroys every monster on the field and them we both take 300 points of damage for every monster we have!" Blaze's two monsters are destroyed and she loses 600 life points going down to 1300.
"Wow!" Chris said amazed "Steeljaw has manage to nail Blaze for 600 points of damage but in doing so he had to obliterate his own monster. He can't attack now, what is he going to do?"
"Ha! Now that the storm has blown over I remove one Skullflame in my graveyard from play, by doing so I can summon the incredible Speedking Skullflame to the field in attack mode! 3000 attack points and all!" Steeljaw announces and plays the monster he drew which comes out.
"Oh no." Blaze said worried seeing the attack points.
"3000 attack points!" Grievous said shocked as Iroh gasp worried.
"Not only did Steeljaw destroy every monster on the field and deal damage to Blaze! But he's managed to summon an incredibly powerful new monster!" Chris announces "What a stupendous string of moves, this could be the end of the duel right here! Steeljaw may be moving on in the tournament and Predaking might be getting a little scared right now!"
Predaking was watching and he was indeed concerned about all of this.
Well Steeljaw has indeed uped his game and Blaze is struggling can she pull through.
