Authoress Note: Welcome to Chapter 6 of The Second Daughter. I hope that you guys enjoyed the change in this chapter. Perhaps you guys will like the change in what happens in this chapter. I hope so. I've tried my best to edit this chapter out and try to make it longer than it was before. I know most of my chapters are 3000-4000 words if not more. And this chapter kind of came up short when it came to the sizing of chapters. But I tried my best to make it longer. So hopefully I succeeded in doing so. Without further ado chapter 6.

Chapter 6

Talks Of Wizards

The rain poured down around them as they traveled, soaked to the bone, cold, wet, and miserable due to the weather.

Dori looked up at the wizard that was in front of him hoping that he would be able to do something about this weather. "Here, Mr. Gandalf, can't you do something about this deluge?" He asked, hoping that Gandalf would be able to do something about the rain that was pouring around them.

Aranduriel held a laugh back knowing that Gandalf could do no such thing with the weather. It was something that wizards couldn't do. They couldn't change the weather, there was no such thing as changing weather creatures. Even though some people wish that happen to have such a creature.

"It is raining Master Dwarf," Gandalf said, trying to remain calm and not to take Dori's head off from the silly question that he had asked. "And it will continue to rain until the rain is done. If you wish to change the weather of the world, you should find yourself another wizard."

"Are there any?" Bilbo looked up at Gandalf and asked curiously. He was curious about if there were other wizards, because if there was only Gandalf… well. It would just seem kind of lonely for the old grey wizard.

"What?" Gandalf asked, looking over at Bilbo.

"Other wizards?" Bilbo again asked his curiosity, getting the best of him.

"There are five of us. The greatest in our order is Saruman, the White. Then there are the two Blue Wizards. You know, I've quite forgotten their names." Gandalf said, admitting his mistake of not remembering who the two blue wizards were.

Aranduriel looked at Gandalf befuddled that he couldn't remember the two blue wizards' names. Has it been that long since he last saw them? She couldn't even remember the two Blue Wizards' names, even racking her brain trying to remember their names, but they wouldn't come.

"And who's the fifth?"

Gandalf looked thoughtful for a moment. "Well, that would be Radagast the Brown."

"Is he a great wizard, or is he more like you?" Bilbo asked curiously as he looked over at the Grey Wizard.

Gandalf looked offended by what the sandy-haired hobbit had said. "I think he's a very great wizard, in his own way. He's a gentle soul who prefers the company of animals to others. He keeps a watchful eye over the vast forest lands to the East. A good thing too, for always Evil will look for a foothold in this world." He explained to the young Hobbit.

Aranduriel looked up sharply, she knew that evil had tried to get a foothold in the world a long time ago. It was long before she was born, but she remembered hearing stories about what had happened during the second age from her father. Even stories from her mother and grandmother. Stories that she wished that she had never heard in all her life.

"And how do you know the evil grows stronger?" Bilbo asked curiously looking at the old wizard that was with them.

Aranduriel looked at the curious hobbit. "Some can sense it coming in the back of their minds." She told the curious hobbit. It was true some could sense the darkness growing.

"And do you feel the evil growing?" Bilbo asked, looking at the elleth that traveled with them.

Kili and Fili looked at Aranduriel, curious about what she was going to say to Bilbo about what they had been talking about.

"Yes." She said as she looked ahead from underneath the hood of her cloak. She hated the idea that she could feel the evil beginning to grow which meant something was dangerous coming and she could only hope that it wouldn't be now.

Bilbo grabbed his reins tightly in his hands. He was afraid that she was going to say something like that.

Aranduriel looked at the scared hobbit. "There is nothing to fear, Master Baggins. Gandalf says it is true, evil won't be able to get a good foothold on this world. Not while there are wizards around." She said with a smile, hoping that she put him at ease. She could only hope that she was right about it. Because if evil took over again there would be another major battle for Middle Earth. A battle that she wasn't sure if she was going to be ready for.

Bilbo looked at Aranduriel and felt a little calmer. He had a feeling that she was holding some back to keep the company calm and not send them over the edge.

Aranduriel pursed her lips together as she looked ahead and pulled her hood even more over her head hiding her face so no one could read her expression that was upon her face. She could feel the darkness growing and it wasn't good. But whatever it was… she was certain that they would see it soon enough. She clicked her tongue and her horse moved closer to Gandalf's horse.

"You did well, calming him," Gandalf told her softly so no one could hear their conversation even though it was still raining.

Aranduriel swallowed the lump in her throat knowing that she had done the right thing, but it felt so wrong to say the right thing.

Gandalf nodded his head knowing that she had some worries deep in her mind. "The darkness, whatever you feel, please put it way in the back of your mind, my dear."

Aranduriel took a soft breath looking over at him. "Gandalf, this darkness is strong." She admitted softly. "I have a feeling that our world is growing ever darker." She gripped the reins of the horse and took a shaky breath. "And I have a bad feeling that it will get even darker."

"Do not worry, dear, everything will be just fine and that's a promise." He told her as they continued on their way to a resting area.

Aranduriel swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat as she clicked her tongue causing her horse to move ahead. She took a soft breath, having a bad feeling that something was still following them. But she couldn't alert the company without causing havoc in their small little group. She wouldn't hear the end of it from Thorin if she said anything about it. And she wanted to remain on what little faith he had left in her.

This is the end of Chapter 6. I hope that you guys enjoyed it. I hope to have the next chapter out soon. Please leave a review to let me know what you think. Reviews help me out a lot by fueling me to write more. I also do apologize for this chapter being on the shorter side. I tried my best to write this chapter out and it turned out well, just not as long as I wanted it to be. But things like that take time and sometimes shorter chapters are the way to go. Until next time.
