Happy birthday to me! Since I'm in such a great mood today, I've decided to post this chapter a day early and since it's my birthday, the only thing I want is a decent amount of reviews! Enjoy!

"Oh. My. God. Is this why you've been hiding from us?" Nikki said, flabbergasted as the Russian-Italian woman breezed into the restaurant, Rosa at her side

Yelena could only smile, placing a hand in her round tummy as she slid into the booth

"You look so beautiful." Brie said, reaching out to caress her stomach

"Thank you" she said, beaming

"I literally cannot... believe my eyes right now." Nikki said, shaking her head "What are you having?"

"I find out next week." Yelena told her

"Are you excited?"

"And very nervous."

"My baby momma and I couldn't be more proud." Rosa said, kissing her cheek

"So this mean you're going to let me plan your shower right? It's the least you can do since you hid this from us for so long." Nikki said, looking at her expectantly

Yelena playfully rolled her eyes. What the heck. "Sure, why not?" she said. If it was anything like John's party, it was going to be anything short of amazing

Nikki clapped her hands together "I can't wait!"

It had been an interesting few days after her meeting with Chris and she surprisingly hadn't felt this good in a really long time. Things were going well. Chris was behaving himself, giving her space. He sent her a text every day since they met up to check in and see how she was doing.

They've been chatting back and forth. She had forgotten that Chris was capable of being cordial when he wanted to, but that didn't stop her from feeling like at any moment, the ticking time bomb will explode once again. Her phone dinged in her purse as they were chatting animatedly about ideas for the baby shower.

She pulled it out and a small smile graced her face. Speak of the devil.

I have to leave town for a meeting in New York and Vince needs me for the house shows in Denver. Hopefully not, but I might not be back in time for the appointment.

XJericho

Yelena felt her shoulders slump as she replied.

It's okay, I understand. Be safe on the road and call me when you make it to each city.

XYelena

She tucked her phone away, feeling disappointed.

On the ride home, Rosa was quiet, which Yelena picked up on instantly

"What's wrong with you?"

Rosa pouted "You never asked me to plan your baby shower."

"Um, you never asked?"

"Well I just assumed you would ask me. Now Nikki is going to plan the best baby shower ever and get all the props."

"Nikki loves to plan parties and it was the least I could do since I kind of disappeared into thin air on everyone. Besides. Nikki isn't the one who let me stay with her and went to all my appointments with me. You get more brownie points than everyone."

The pout on the Latina's face didn't budge

"Annnnnd" Yelena said, pulling in front of the Diva's building "Chris has to leave town and he might not make it to my appointment. So guess who gets to fill in as my proud lesbian partner?"

She grinned "Really? You want me there for the gender reveal?"

Yelena let out a laugh "Of course I do. Will you record it for me? To send to Chris since he's going to miss it?"

"I'd be a selfish asshole if I said no, right?"

"Yes you would."

"That sucks that he's going to miss it. I know how much you were looking forward to him being there."

"Yeah, I know." Yelena said glumly. She had gotten her hopes way to fast, but it was okay. At least she knew he tried to be there.

Yelena gave the Diva a hug from behind the wheel before bidding her good night

Chris let out an exhausted sigh as he climbed into the back of the taxi. His meeting went well and he was ecstatic to know that in a few short months, his blueprint for his own podcast would be a reality. With that underway, he was now headed to his next red eye flight to Denver. Damn Vince for putting him on the card for these house shows last minute. Sure, this run was what he signed up for, but now it's was intervening with his personal time. He felt guilty, leaving Yelena hanging after he had promised her that he'd be there for her appointment to find out the gender of their child, but when Vince sends for you, running is expected.

The flight was torturous, but he pressed through. He worked his matches with a heavy mind for the next three days, but even through the standing ovations from the crowds that he lived for, the only place he wanted to be was Florida. He had FaceTimed Yelena every night before he laid his head to make sure she was doing well in his absence.

She was putting on a brave face, letting him know that Rosa was going to be there to record the whole thing for him, but he could still sense her disappointment.

"I'm really sorry I'm gonna miss this." He said as he arrived at the arena on Wednesday.

"Don't be. I know you're not missing it because you want to." she assured him "You're job is very important."

"This is important too."

"Don't beat yourself up about it." she said with a half smile "I don't want you worrying about this during your match."

That didn't ease the nagging feeling in his chest "The fact that Rosa is going to be there and not me isn't making the situation any better either."

"She's been at every appointment with me, Chris. And despite what you think, she's been a big support system."

"Hmmm." he grunted selfishly. He should have been that support system, not Mendes. Rosa didn't help create their kid. "Rosa shouldn't of had to been your support system, but I'm not even going to get into that."

He watched as she raised a brow "Seriously?" she asked, her temper obviously flaring

"Nevermind. Forget I said anything." he said, rolling his eyes

She opened her mouth to say something, but thought otherwise, rolling her green eyes with a laugh to keep from cursing "I'm not even going to do this with you. Look, I have work to do. I'll... see you when you get back in town, yeah?"

"I'll call you later." he muttered

She didn't bother to respond, ending the FaceTime abruptly.

He felt like shit as soon as she hung up on him. Damn him for taking his frustrations out on her. Damn Vince for dragging him into this. Now Yelena was pisses at him. It was hard enough to get her to somewhat open back up to him and he had been trying really hard to get on the right path with the mother of his child for fear of her up and leaving again. Yelena was the true definition of a flight risk. He couldn't have her upset with him being so far away. It was already bad enough that he still did not know where she lived. He could only get ahold of her by phone and only saw her where she agrees to meet him.

His greatest fear was that she would change her number and leave the state with his child at any given moment and he'd never see her again.

His mood only darkened as the hours crept closer to showtime. He sent her numerous texts to which she didn't bother to respond to. He tried to call her back a grand total of eight times, but she was sending him to voicemail and that only made him even more anxious.

Four hours before the show started, he went in search of the C.O.O. who was running the show tonight, finding him in his office.

"Talk fast Jericho, I'm a busy man." Hunter said, looking over paperwork on his desk

"I need to leave. Like now." Chris told him bluntly

The caught The Game's ear "Why?"

"I have something important that I can't miss tomorrow and I need to catch the first thing flying back to Florida which takes off in forty five minutes."

Hunter let out a deep sigh "Chris, Vince called you in to replace Sheamus tonight. Why in the hell didn't you talk to me about this sooner?"

"Because I just came to my senses that I can't miss this. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself."

"What is this about? I at least need to know that I'm going to get chewed out for a good reason." Hunter asked, folding his arms across his chest

"Yelena." he said simply

The Cerebral Assassin pinched the bridge of his nose "The appointment." he said to himself in realization

"So you know?"

"It wasn't hard to guess after that blowup with Orton. It took a lot of convincing to get her to change her mind about completely resigning. Thanks for that, by the way."

Chris could only laugh. Yelena had truly been under his nose this whole time without him knowing "I can't miss it Hunter. I've already missed too much."

Hunter picked up the file on his desk "Go, before I change my mind. Congratulations."

"Thanks Hunt. I also need one tiny favor before I go."

"You're pushing your luck Jericho."

She woke up from her nap sweating. Through half asleep eyes she went to her thermostat as turned it down seven degrees and fell back into bed, exhausted.

She laid there for what seemed like forever, waiting for the temperature to adjust to a more comfortable degree to sleep in. After thirty minutes of tossing and turning with no relief, she sat up, confused and cranky. Why was it so damn hot?

Standing up on her bed, she stood on tip toes, her hand near the vent to see if any air was coming out.

Air was pushing though full blast, but not cool air. She climbed off of her bed carefully, padding down the hall back to the thermostat to make sure hadn't accidentally turned the heat on.

Nope. It was switched to cool, the degrees set to sixty four. Something wasn't right.

She felt a bead of sweat run down her neck and she tossed her dark hair into a bun on top of her head as she located her phone to call the resident office.

She explained her situation to the woman, Ruth, who told her that twelve other units had gone out due to the severe heat index

"How long will it be before someone comes out to fix it?"

"The wait list is really long, out may take two weeks at least."

"Two weeks? Ma'am, that's not going to work. It's over a hundred degrees outside every day this week and it's rightly ninety degrees six in here. Not to mention I'm expecting. I can't stay in here like this."

"I do apologize Miss. Ulyanova, but there's nothing we can do at this time, we only have one repair man on the job and he's doing the best he can to get to everyone."

Yelena thanked the woman and hung up before she got seriously agitated.

She was sweating profusely by now and went around the house to open the windows to let some of the hot air out before she went to go take a cold shower.

It cooled her off a bit. She left her hair wet as she made calls to see if she could find someone else to fix her A.C. Everyone was booked and she grew more and more frustrated by the hours. For a minute, she wished she was back home in her condo. If something was broken, someone would have been there the very next day bright and early. The sun was finally setting and she was glad when it started to cool down a bit.

Bane was glad for her company as she ate a bag of salt and vinegar Lays on her newly screened in patio, annoyed that it felt better outside than inside. Fireflies danced around and she watched them lazily, stroking Bane's back with her foot as he laid at her feet. The dog perked up suddenly, raising his head before letting out a deep growl.

A second later, she heard the doorbell ring from inside

She narrowed her eyes, confused before checking the time on her phone. It was almost ten at night. She knew it couldn't be Wade, he was on the road along with the Shield guys and Rosa was in Tallahassee with some friends.

She went inside, checking the peephole silently, not believing her eyes as she opened the door

"Hey."

"Chris? What are you-"

"I caught the first flight back. I couldn't miss this." he said, scratching the back of his neck nervously "Can I come in?"

"Yeah." she said, stepping aside

"I also want to apologize for the way I acted earlier, I was being a dick."

"I don't think I've ever heard you own up to that."

He let out an easy chuckle before his brow furrowed "Why the hell is it so hot in here?"

"The A.C. unit went out earlier."

"You've been in here all day like this?" he asked, taking in her slightly sweaty brow

"Yeah, I've been trying to call around to see if I can get it fixed, but everyone is backed up." She said, brushing a stray hair out of her face.

"Why didn't you call me?" he asked

"Not much you can do from Denver." she shrugged

"Go upstairs and pack." he instructed

"Why?" she asked

"I'm not going to let you stay here. You're pregnant, you don't need to be in this kind of heat. Go pack. You're staying with me."

...

"Is this okay?" he asked as she sat on the bed in one of many of the guest bedrooms.

She felt weird and oddly out of place just being in his home. It was big and could rival John's "This is fine Chris. It's only for a few days until I can get everything fixed at my place. I don't want to overstay my welcome."

"You can stay as long as you need to. I'll be right back. I'm going to bring up the rest of your things and get Bane into the backyard. Hopefully I return with all of my limbs in tact."

"Okay. Thanks Jericho." she said gratefully. She didn't know what she would have done if she had to spend the night in the hot box she called home.

He only nodded before disappearing

She looked around the room at the expensive furniture before wandering into the attached bathroom, flipping on the lights. She marveled at the garden bathtub and walk in shower. Call her crazy, but she had a weird fascination about a nice tub she could soak in.

She showered for the second time and washed her hair, pulled on a pair of sweats and a baggy old T-shirt. She sent Rosa a text to let her know that Chris was back and would be taking to the appointment tomorrow

She was pulling a brush through her damp hair when she heard Chris trying to get Bane out into the back door. Wandering down the elegant stairs, she found them. Chris was standing in front of the sliding glass door, a raw steak in hand while Bane sat on the other side of the room, his grey eyes staring blankly

"C'mon, you know you want the steak. Go get it!" he said eagerly, throwing it out the door.

Bane only blinked, not moving a muscle

Yelena let out a laugh "Bane, za predelami." she commanded

The Great Dane got up, making a beeline for the choice cut of meat on the pavement and Chris could only shake his head

"There goes my dinner." he joked lightly "All situated?" he asked

She nodded "Thanks again."

"You don't have to thank me. Have you eaten yet?"

She shook her head

"What are you in the mood for?"

"Doesn't matter. I'd eat just about anything right now." She said, sitting on one of the bar stools in front of the island. His kitchen was massive, all the appliances stainless steel.

"Fried chicken?"

"You're going to cook?" she asked incredulously.

"Don't doubt my mad cooking skills. My fried chicken is out of this world. Prepare to be amazed."

She scoffed "Now this, I've got to see."

They fell into an easy conversation. He managed to coax what she'd been doing since leaving out of her and she filled him in on her transition as head of the photography department at NXT after being persuaded by Hunter.

He told her about his latest touring and deciding to go on another run with WWE. It felt so weird, listening to him talk about the backstage politics. She felt like such an outsider when she heard her friends talking about work.

He whipped up a whole meal in a short amount of time. She was impressed when he presented her with a plate of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and sautéed baby carrots and cauliflower in butter and garlic, setting the bottle of water she requested and taking a seat at the head of the table.

"I hope the mashed potatoes aren't too lumpy for you. Forceful habit."

"The lumpier the better." she said, picking up her fork

"No no. The chicken first. I want to the amazement in your eyes after you take your first bite."

She rolled her eyes playfully, picking up the drumstick, the smell making her mouth water. She let out a small laugh as he watched her, waiting with a grin.

She sunk her teeth into it, biting off a chunk and chewed "Mmmmm" she hummed in approval

"Good?" he asked

"Very." she said around her food "I'm impressed. Good job Jericho."

He sent her a wink before digging into his own food.

After dinner, she collected their dirty dishes, heading into the kitchen as he took a phone call.

He came into the kitchen shortly behind her with the rest of the dishes, phone pressed to his ear

She knew the voice coming from the other end immediately. Vince was really letting him have it

"It's not like I ditched. Hunter gave me permission..."

The telling only got louder. Yelena tried not to listen, running water to start on the task at hand

Chris gently took the dish soap from her hands, directing his eyes towards the dishwasher before, removing the phone from his ear "I'll do it." he said lowly before pressing the phone back to his ear "I already told you, something came up. I wouldn't have left if it wasn't important. So if you're not calling to suspend me, I'd like to get settled in for bed."

Yelena kirked a brow. Only a select few people could get away with talking to the Chairman like that. Chris was really asking for it.

When he wrapped up the call, Yelena felt kind of bad "You shouldn't have left. I didn't want to cause any problems with Vince."

"It's fine. I'm use to Vince trying to tear me a new one." He said with a shrug "I'll take care of this. Why don't you go rest? It's pretty late and we have to be up early to drive back to Tampa for your appointment."

Feeling full, she was kind of tired. It had been a long day "Are you sure you don't want any help?" she asked

"I'm good here. Go on up to bed."

"Okay. Goodnight Jericho."

"Night Sweetheart."

"OJ?" Chris offered

"Please." she said gratefully with a yawn. She didn't slept too great, despite the expensive mattress. She tossed for most of the night, feeling strange in the foreign house she was in. It was almost as if the baby could sense it too, kicking the crap out of her the whole time she was trying to get comfortable. Around two a.m. she gave up, turning on the flatscreen on the wall and watched MTV until around eight when she finally went under

Before she knew it, it was time to get up and ready for her appointment

She found herself shaking as she got dressed in a loose black and white henley tank top and a pair of jeans. She left her hair down in loose waves, putting on light makeup and settling for eyeliner and mascara. This was it. It was finally time.

Chris poked his head the bathroom "Almost ready?"

"Yup."

The butterflies in her stomach couldn't be contained for the whole ride. They pulled in front of the office and Chris cut the engine, looking over at her

"You ready for this?" he asked

She couldn't help but notice the dazzling smile on his face, he looked so excited and she returned the gesture "I was ready for this weeks ago."

He held out his hand, palm upward and she placed her small hand in his, their fingers intertwining

"Thank you for letting me be here today." he said, his blue eyes finding her green orbs

Her heart fluttered in her chest "I'm really glad you're here." she said honestly

The shift in the atmosphere was palpable as he leaned in

She closed her eyes, her teeth capturing her bottom lip.

A kiss was pressed to her forehead

She fought the urge to sigh in relief and groan in disappointment all at once

She could barely contain her nervousness as she signed in.

Chris put a hand over her finders, drumming against the arm of the chair she was sitting in "Stop it." he said, stroking her hand with his thumb

"Sorry." she said, her cheeks warming. "Are you sure you want to do this?"

"Why wouldn't I?"

"I just don't want you to feel like you're obligated to be here. If you change you're mind, I'll understand."

It was now or never. If he left now, maybe she could still come to grips that she could do this on her own. She was still trying to feel him out, to see if he had good intentions and to be honest, she was still waiting for it. Waiting for him to go back on his word and leave just when she started to get comfortable.

"Yelena..." Chris started

"Yelena?" The nurse called, beckoning her to the open door

She jumped lightly, awkwardly standing, Chris following suit

He gestured her onward "I'm right behind you."

She shot him a small smile as they walked to the back together.

He felt like he was going to have a heart attach as he followed behind her. He hadn't realized how nervous he was until the nurse called her name.

The realization that this was actually happening was hitting him like and eighteen wheeler. He was really about to find out the gender of his child. The child that just a few short weeks ago, he didn't know anything about.

He watched in silence as the nurse weighed her and took her vitals before handing her a paper gown to change into, letting her know the doctor would be in shortly

She looked at him expectantly, gown in hand

"What?" he asked

"Turn around." she commanded

"Are you serious?" he asked, fighting a grin.

She only blinked at him in response

Chris let out a sigh "Fine, fine." he said, closing his eyes

"Turn around." she said

He obeyed, turning to face the wall as she changed "You know, I thought we were past these casualties." he said, turning just the slightest bit

"Don't look!" she hissed at him

He turned back around quickly at the time of her voice

When she was done, she informed him that he could turn around. He didn't miss how she had covered herself up with the thin paper on the table and he pulled the chair closer to her as she laid back, staring at the ceiling

A knock sounded on the door and a short woman came in "Hi sweetie, how are you?"

"I'm fine Dr. Westbrook. I was beginning to think I wouldn't see you again until it was time to start pushing." Yelena said

A nurse came in, wheeling the machine in on a cart behind her

"I'm sorry about that honey. If it makes you feel any better, the other less important people are out of the way, so you have my full, undivided attention for the rest of this pregnancy. How are you feeling?"

"I'm doing well. Can't complain."

"I see we have company." The doctor said, taking in the Canadian on the other side of the table

"This is Chris." Yelena said, "Um... He's..." Yelena said, searching for the correct word

"Dad." Chris said with ease, shaking the doctor's hand with a smile

Dr. Westbrook's face broke into a grin "Oh! Glad to finally meet you. I was trying not to assume. Didn't go so well for me last time."

Chris tried not to let his face show his confusion. Was she implying that someone else besides Rosa had been to her appointments with her?

"I'm glad you could be here for this special occasion." she said, turning back to Yelena "I think we should get this show on the road? We've waited long enough, right?"

"Right." Yelena agreed

"Alright. Lie back for me sweetie." the doctor instructed

Yelena glanced at him nervously as she did what was told, exposing her round stomach

He touched her hand lightly, surprised when she slipped her hand in his and they shared a nervous look

The nurse turned out the lights as the doctor squeezed a dollop of gel on her exposed stomach

Turning on the machine and the monitor, the doctor moved the wand around her abdomen, watching the screen as she did so "I'll let you know when to look."

Chris squeezed her hand and she traded the "F" tattoo on his hand. He watched her, chewing her bottom lip, her green orbs staring at the ceiling.

He was so caught up in the sight of her that his ears didn't register the drumming that filled the room. When he snapped out of it, he realized that one thumping sound seemed to be overlapping the second.

"Is that the heartbeat? Is it suppose to be beating that fast?" Yelena asked, her face filling with worry

Chris looked at the doctor, who was studying the monitor intently "Oh I think that sounds just fine from what I can see over here." Dr. Westbrook said, turning the monitor towards the pair "Take a look."

Chris looked at the dark screen. It was fuzzy, so stood to get a better look, trying to understand what he was looking at. Why did they make these things so hard to look at? Surely there was a dummy version for men.

"What is that?" he said, point to an unidentifiable object on the screen

"The head." the doctor said

"Wait. Those are the baby's feet right there." Yelena pointed out "How is that..."

Chris squinted at the screen "If those are the feet and that's the head..."

"I think we have a serious case of double trouble going on here." Dr. Westbrook said with a smile "Congratulations."

Yelena's eyes were as wide as saucers "Oh my god." she said, cover her mouth in shock

"You mean... you mean.. it's... it's." Chris started, feeling like an idiot

"Yup. Twins." the doctor said "And if I'm correct, pink is the way to go."

"Holy shit." was all his scattered brain could come up with.

Holy shit, indeed! So there you have it ladies and gentlemen. Twins! This should be interesting. Let me know what you think, how you feel, what you think is coming next, what you suggest should come next. I'm all ears! Cheers to 22 years🎊
