The Duel

"Nico, I really think this duel with Malfoy is a bad idea." Said Will. "You can barely use any magic."

"Who says I'll be doing magic?" Nico smirked. "I'll just use my underworld powers and point my wand or something."

"Nico, no!" Will said. "You know as your doctor, I should stop this, doctor's orders."

"Nuh uh," Nico said, "Can't let Malfoy think I'm weak. Also, you can watch, and I'll have Percy."

"But Malfoy's been doing magic for a long time, he'll probably block you or something."

"He's too much of an idiot." Harry said, walking up to them. "I'm excited to see you beat him." He smirked.

They made it down to the lake and saw the rest of the demigods plus Ron and Hermione there. "What is this? Are y'all gonna watch like it's a gladiator fight or something?" Nico asked.

"Maybe," Jason said. "Don't want you getting hurt."

"I can take care of myself fine, thank you very much."

Jason laughed. "Sure, you can."

Then Malfoy came, followed by a couple Slytherins. "Ready to lose di Angelo?"

"Thing is, I won't be the one losing."

"Serpensortia!" Malfoy yelled, causing a snake to shoot out of his wand. Nico willed the earth to open up and close in on the snake. He pointed his wand at the ground to make it seem as if it caused it.

Malfoy seemed to buy it and looked terrified. "Y-you did that without saying anything. How?"

Nico smirked. He knew Malfoy wouldn't pick on them anymore. "I prefer non-verbal magic." He lied. "Guess the small boy can do magic"

Malfoy scowled. "My father will hear about this!"

Nico walked closer. "You complain to your father, and I will have you meet my father."

"Malfoy scowled and left. "I'll get you making me a fool!"

"You did this to yourself." Nico said unamused as he walked over to his friends. He really expected the duel to last longer but as soon as he got to his friends he collapsed. He really shouldn't have used his underworld powers.

When Nico woke, he saw the rest of the demigods plus Harry, Ron, and Hermione surrounding his bed.

"What are you guys doing?" Nico asked.

"Are you okay Nico?" Hermione asked. "Last time I checked one spell shouldn't make you pass out."

"I'm fine, thanks Hermione." Nico said.

"Nico, this is why you shouldn't use those underworld-y powers!" Will hissed in Nico's ear.

"Sorry," Nico mumbled.

"I'm going to the library." Hermione said. "Non-verbal magic is extremely difficult. We don't even learn it until our sixth year. Maybe it requires more energy."

"No need." Nico said quickly. He didn't need Hermione to get suspicious.

"One question," Harry started. "You said something about your father, does he have power in America? Malfoy's dad does."

"You could say that." Percy mumbled.

"Either way, you scared him. Last time he was so terrified was when last year a teacher turned him into a ferret for picking on us." Harry said laughing,

Nico snorted. "He deserved it."

"And the time when Hermione punched him in the face. He ran away." Ron said, making Hermione blush.

"Anyway, I'm gonna go," Percy said. "Ron's brothers are going to show us me, Jason, and Leo all the secret passages. So cool right?"

Annabeth rolled her eyes followed by Piper. "I'm gonna finish reading Hogwarts a History. It's pretty interesting. All three of the female demigods went up to their dorm while the boys went to the common room to meet Ron's brothers. This left Will and Nico alone.

As soon as they left, Will went rambling about how he shouldn't have let Nico do that duel and went on about how no more of his powers. Nico rolled his eyes and ate the piece of chocolate Harry left for him. For some reason it made him feel better which was pretty much the opposite of what it should do. The wizarding world was weird.
