Chapter 39 Mephiles

Shadow's group were at a control room and they looked around.

"Wow."Fuki said.

Shadow and Knightmare walked towards it to see a map with Rouge looking at it."Ah, Soleanna, the city of water. It has a constitutional monarchy, you know. The primary industries are tourism and crafting precision machinery."They saw a picture of Elise on the all."The current sovereign is Princess Elise the Third."

"Why does Eggman's base lead to an odd place like this?"Shadow said.

"Good question."Knigtmare said.

"How should I know? I just followed my orders and retrieved the Item."Rouge shows them a black book."Anyway, I have a little favor to ask of you. Could you escort me to GUN rendezvous point?"

"Where's the rendezvous point?"Shadow said.

Rogue points at the map."It's the ancient castle of Soleanna, in Kingdom Valley."

"Hmm it's pretty far."Endou said.

"Just get the vehicle and let Fuki drive."Knightmare said.

"Why me?!"Fuki said.

"You have a license."He said.

"Ugh, fine."She said.

They went out with Knightmare, Shadow and Rouge running foward with the others on the buggy going foward.

They arrived at a ruins of sorts as they kept going, Shadow saw more robots coming and takes them down with Knightmare shooting them.

"Look!"Shadow sees a glider.

He and Knightmare held on to it as the others had to go a different route.

"Papa!"Myu calls out to him.

Rouge looks at her."Don't worry, we just need to help the boys out."

Knightmare sees a entrance but it was locked."No good."

"Don't worry, we'll deal with that."Rouge said.

The other group went out to a different room as Endou, Rouge and Yue went out to get some stuff, they saw keys being guarded by robots and they attacked them.

Endou takes a few down and takes the key."Got it."

Rouge flies by and said:"Pass it here."Endou throws the key at her and she now has two.

Yue crushes a few machines with her powers and gets the key.

"Yue!"She throws it at Rouge who catches it.

Rouge goes to a wall and inserts the keys letting the door open for the two guys.

"Good."Shadow said and they went foward.

Knightmare then saw a Hover craft."A hover craft?"

"We can use it to get through the water."Shadow sees the room was filled with it.

The two jumped towards it and they went foward.

More of Eggman's robots came and tried to attack them, Shadow shoots with the vehicles cannons.

Knightmare shoots more of them away and sees a pillar coming down."Watch out!"

Shadow drives away from it and they went inside of a tunnel, Knightmare looks back to see more of the robots chasing them.

"I don't think so."Knightmare charges up a show and fires at the ceiling making it explode crushing those robots.

"Good idea."Shadow said.

"Thanks, now they can't follow us here."Knightmare said.

They arrived at the other end and came off of it.

"Papa!"They saw Myu and the others waiting for them.

"She was worried about you papa."Rouge smirks at him.

"Enough with the games."Shadow goes foward.

"Rude."Fuki said.

"You'll get used to him."Rouge said.

Shadow looks at Myu who smiles and waves at him, he looks away as he kept going.

The group enter the open ruins of a great hall.

"The former king of Soleanna used to reside in this castle. But a major accident occurred 10 years ago, and no one's lived here since."Rouge said.

"Accident?"The others said.

"I heard a prototype energy engine failed, which caused the accident. I think the name of the plan was..."

She was cut off when Eggman came down on his machine."The Solaris Project. It was an ambitious project named after their eternal sun god."

"Doctor!"Rouge said.

"It's been a while, my dear Rouge. And of course, Shadow. Now, if you'd be so kind as to hand back the book you took from me."

Myu looks at him and blinks."Why does he look like an egg?"

That made some of the group chuckle.

"I do not look like an egg!"Eggman got mad.

Egg Gunners surround Shadow and Rouge who dodge a blast from one of them. As Rouge flies up, Eggman knocks her down with his Egg Mobile, but then something came down blasting the robots away.

"No!"Eggman said."Pull back, pull back, pull back!"He flies away.

A dark shadow came down and gets the book, they saw it rise up from the ground revealing Mephiles.

"You!"Knightmare said.

"Is this the one that sent you here?"Shadow narrows his eyes.

He laughs"Yes. I'm Mephiles. Mephiles the Dark."He looks at Shadow."What, did you forget me? I owe much to you Shadow. Oh, yes."He makes a purple orb.

Knightmare and Yue charged at him to stop Mephiles.

"What you gave to me, I now return to you! A one-way ticket to oblivion."He sends it making the group vanish.

Mephiles laugh and goes away having his mission done for now.

The group came out and they saw a city on fire.

"Where are we?"Endou said.

"It seems we've been teleported to another location."Rouge said.

"But where?"Knightmare said.

"Well, let's find out where we are."Rouge runs foward with the others following her.

Shadow looks at the fire."Mephiles... Who is he?"

Note:Here's Shadow's side, they met Mephiles and instead of the scepter it's a book, since Mephiles was brought out earlier and has Kabuto's form.
