Welcome to the next chapter of DxD – The Last Amagiri, but before starting the story. Let's answer some reviews:
Rider126: There are some members of the Amagiri Clan who uses one of the five elements, in particular, but who knows Kensei could be different. It was the reason that I decided to have him learn senjutsu as it described in the afterward of Volume 5 as being magic more related to the body and secret to becoming an immortal since sennin could use it to immensely extend their lifespans. I thought that since Ninjas were mentioned in High School DxD, I thought that it'll be cool of Samurai were introduced.
Guest: That's next up.
Altair95: Thanks, it was a nice epic ending for the Demon Eater and amazing gifts for the two mother and daughter Kyuubi. I thought that it was an appropriate time for their origins to be revealed.
Cristian Njoroge: Thanks, I'm happy to hear that you liked the chapter. Sorry for the wait, but it's here. It'll be an interesting encounter between the Kibou and Kuoh Groups.
Kibou Academy
In the middle of the night, in another town near Kibou Town, a sixteen-year-old girl dressed in her school uniform walked throughout the vacant halls of a high school. Her hair and clothes were in disorder while having a dead almost vacant in her eyes. There wasn't a single sound in high school, not even a teacher who was doing extra work, but there was a disordered voice that echoed through her mind.
{I'm sorry, but I'm seeing someone else at the moment. She's at another school.}
{I can't believe this plain girl thought that she could ask out Akihito-senpai.}
{I didn't think that anyone could make such a fool of themselves in front of everyone.}
Multiple voices echoed in her head akin to a recording being replayed back and forth on a constant loop, causing the depression within her chest to continue rising. Soon enough, a formless shadow appeared nearby with what appeared to be a disturbing smile on its face.
{It must be so terrible going through the embarrassment day in and day out, listening to the laughter and remarks from everyone. But, don't worry, all that can go away with a single action.}
"…action?"
The shadow smiled even more creepily as the girl replied in a dead tone.
She walked through the entrance leading to the roof of the school building, which was opened through some odd presence. And she started walking up the steps leading toward the roof and opened the entrance, but continued to walk forward until she was in front of the ledge and stepped onto it.
{All it takes is one more step. And all your problems can be solved. There will be no more worries. No more pain. And no more suffering.}
"…just one…more…step."
She took one more step forward, then she fell towards the ground unsupported by the building's structure and all but being pulled down by the natural force of gravity. As she was reaching the third floor of the five-storied building, a swift shape appeared then started running along the vertical school wall without support. This new person caught the girl in his arms and landed on the ground, but didn't appear to cause a single bit of damage done to them.
"Good thing, I made it in time," a slight sigh escaped from their mouth. "I swear these things need to do their jobs right without causing trouble to depressed people."
The person then turned their attention toward the rescued victim, placing a single index finger on her forehead as a white light covered it letting out a slight flash.
"Hah!"
The schoolgirl let a slight scream escape from her mouth as if she had just woken up from a nightmare, then she scanned the area in a similar panicked state.
"Wh-Where am I?"
"I know you're panicking, but please calm down a bit."
"W-Who are you?'
The girl questioned as the person placed her own the ground so that she could somewhat stand on her own.
"I'm just a demon hunter going out for a walk around town and stumbled across that."
He pointed his thumb towards the shadow that appeared on the school roof, which soon took form as a deformed monster with multiple crow-like wings and a spiked tail. He stared at the creature with an almost unfazed look on his face, the girl was panicking as her eyes widened.
"W-What is that monster?"
"That would be a Shinigami," he replied scratching. "They're what you'd call Death Spirits who're meant to assist people who die at their appointed time to the afterlife, but then there are those who just make people want to die despite it not being their time yet. Man, these rouge shinigami at the most troublesome things to deal with. Well, I'll deal with this rouge first, then I'll be back to take you home."
"What do you mean, 'deal with'?"
"Well, I did say I was a demon hunter."
Having said those words, the supposed demon hunter sprinted towards the school building, then he jumped and started running up the building leading towards the roof. The shinigami prepared to counter his assault unfolding its wings then ascending into the air. Responding to this, the Demon Hunter reached the sword carrying case on his back, then pulled out a black katana. After reaching the edge of the school's roof, the demon hunter jumped up, propelling him forward toward the shinigami.
Believing that the Demon Hunter couldn't avoid the next assault, the shinigami spread his wings outwards before releasing a numerous barrage of sharpened features radiating a dark presence. Instead of acting nervous about the feathers launched at him, the Demon Hunter pressed a hand on their katana's sheath, unsheathing it enough to where the wind seemed to leak out from it.
"Kenatsu "
Translation: Sword Pressure
After unsheathing the blade, he released a compressed wind blade toward the barrage of features knocking them all into different directions causing them to lose their momentum. The shinigami was surprised about the sudden counter, it attempted to fly higher into the skies to avoid the next strike. Noticing his attempt at running away the Demon Hunter smirked and seemingly kicked off the air propelling himself towards the shinigami.
"Zanmaken!"
The black katana was covered in a white aura as he sliced through the shinigami without resistance, separating it from its upper and lower halves.
{W-What are…you?}
As the shinigami fell toward the ground vanishing into nothingness, the Demon Hunter landed on the ledge of the school building before turning around as their eyes made contact.
Due to the moonlight, the shinigami could see that his killer was a sixteen-year-old young man of average height, with black spiky hair and gray eyes; dressed in a special black combat uniform. He sheathes the black katana as a smirk appeared on his face.
"Yo, my name is Kensei Amagiri. A freelance demon hunter."
{…Ama…giri.}
The shinigami leaked out as he vanished the nothingness, Kensei then sighed and turned back toward the young teen girl before jumping off the roof. Again, he landed without damaging his legs and then started walking in her direction as a stumped look appeared on her face.
"Yo, I'm back like I promised."
"…uh, I don't know what to think anymore."
The girl seemed to be confused about all that she just witnessed and couldn't come with a single counter for him.
"Come on," Kensei said as he waved for her to follow him. "I think that a walk and something to drink would help you calm down."
"…fine."
A couple of minutes passed, Kensei bought the girl bottle water as she directed him toward her home, and during their walk, she confided in him about all that happened.
"I shouldn't have confessed to Akihito-senpai. I wouldn't have even made a proper girlfriend for someone such as him and now I'm the laughingstock of the entire school population. I guess that's the reason that shinigami began to target me and force me to commit suicide. But, I'm not brought to admit that I was thinking about it once."
"You shouldn't let what others call you get to you at all," Kensei said as he drank all the water in his bottle before tossing it into a far away trashcan. "Especially, if they're people who have no opinion of their own aside from what others believe. You should be confident in what you do and follow your beliefs even if someone believes that it's foolish because you're living your own life."
"But, what if the students continue talking back about me confessing to Akihito-senpai?"
"Look, there are girls who continue fawning on someone popular without telling them their real feelings, mostly it's due to them being too afraid or not having the confidence to take that final step. But, you dared to do it even if it didn't go the way that you thought," Kensei said as the two reached their destination. "The moment that you return to school tomorrow, stand tall and walk forward with confidence ignoring all the comments from those who're talking back about you."
"Do you think that would work?"
"If you recall anything from this night, then remember this," Kensei said as he walked the girl to her front doorstep and smirked. "No one else but you dared to confess their feelings to someone everyone had their eyes on and that makes you better than them."
"Yea, I mean I can't hide from their comments forever. Alright tomorrow, I'll walk through those school gates with my head held high."
He smiled at the newfound confidence from the girl who had been close to committing suicide due to being under the influence of a shinigami. Kensei then reached into his pocket and placed a charm that had the Amagiri Clan's emblem on it.
"Here this is a special good luck charm that'll protect you from evil spirits," Kensei said as he placed the charm in her hands causing the girl to smile. "…. …. …. …."
"What was that?"
The girl seemed confused as he uttered what seemed to be a spell as she held the good luck charm in her hands then watched as Kensei held his hand in front of her face.
"Well, this is goodbye."
"Huh?"
Kensei snapped his fingers releasing a bright light that surrounded her for a moment, then vanished at the same time as the bright light leaving the girl alone. She seemed dazed for a moment as she placed a hand on her head before looking around.
"Huh? What was I doing again? That's right, I went out to clear my mind after Akihito-senpai rejected me."
The girl surmised before staring at the charm in her hands wearing a confused look on her face, smiling a little bit after feeling better before entering the house.
"Well, that went well. I hope that things work out for her."
Standing at a distance from her home, Kensei stood on top of one of the closer houses watching wearing a smile on her face as a slight noise echoed in his head. Realizing what it was, he reached into his pocket, pulling out what seemed to be a custom-made black smartphone, which had a stylized "O" on the back.
"It'll take a little bit longer to get used to that," Kensei said as he answered the phone. "Hello?"
{Nii-san, are you still going out on patrol?}
It was Claire, on the other end of the line, who asked him that particular question.
"Yea, since there's been an irregular number of reports about teens all committing suicide around the very same areas, I thought that it might be due some rogue shinigami. Since they're more difficult to track using ordinary methods, it should be no problem tracking them using senjutsu. I already killed one of them, but I think that it'll be best to ensure that there aren't anymore lurking around."
{Alright, just be sure to return before your dinner gets too cold.}
"Yes, mom."
{Don't get smart or less I'll cook you nothing but green peppers for a week.}
Claire replied in a snarky yet serious tone, but what shook him most was the threat, which had caused him to fix his phone like a child being scolded.
"…I'm sorry."
{Then, I'll see you when you return, Nii-san~}
The moment the call ended, Kensei had laughed nervously and placed the phone back inside his pockets before leaving to examine the area.
The next morning, Kensei had found himself sleeping inside his bedroom, which had changed his personal growth into his teens. Some things bore reminiscence to what would be seen inside a teenage male's bedroom but there wasn't anything excessive; placed carefully in front of the window on a stand was the sheathed Kurogane.
"…ngh."
Kensei allowed a slight yawn and groan to escape from his mouth, scratching his bedhead as he was still reeling a bit from the exhaustion from the previous night. He scoured all various locations where most incidents were reported the most, but still came a little late last night and ate the dinner Claire made before going to sleep.
"…nnnn."
Kensei's attention went towards the right side of himself, where there was a lump underneath the covers it came from both sides of himself. A slightly bemused sigh escaped from his mouth as Kensei poked the top of the lump causing an annoyed moan to escape from their mouth.
"Time to wake up, Alice."
He smirked as Alice groaned underneath the covers, before getting up from under them, then started rubbing her eyes a little bit exhausted.
"…why do you have to stop me from sleeping all the time?"
Alice tiredly questioned as she glanced toward Kensei appearing almost annoyed.
As a sixteen-year-old, she has grown more beautiful as her complexion being healthier to the point of being normal, what people would notice would be her now well-endowed chest. Although, Alice wasn't proud of it at all since it made it difficult for her to move around. She was dressed in nothing but an unbuttoned white dress shirt without even a bra, but good thing she decided to wear panties at least.
"'Cause if I don't, then you'd remain asleep all day long," he replied to the annoyed Alice who rubbed her eyes in an exhausted manner. "And then you'd remain here all day bored and alone."
"Then that just means I can remain in my room all day to draw and paint."
Having said those words Alice sighed again, before turning herself around in a manner that appeared at if she was about to crawl toward him. Due to her doing this, he almost got an uncovered view from her breasts causing him to catch a glimpse of her nipples causing his cheeks to redden slightly. Alice pressed herself against him, while a hand was placed on his chest as she leaned against him.
"Then give me five more minutes."
"Uh, Alice, I don't have a problem with it, but…," Kensei said before hearing a subtle sound. "You're already fast asleep, aren't you?"
"…zzzzz."
Alice was indeed fast asleep against his chest, her breasts pressed up against his chest with her arms wrapped all around him at his waist. It was a similar sensation that he had felt three years prior and continued as the blonde started developing more as a woman, which also caused him to feel a little bit complicated between being either a rational martial artist or a teenager.
"Hmm, I hope Claire doesn't wake up to find us like this. The last time, Alice was too lazy to get undressed after a long day from school. Well, that didn't go along so well explaining," Kensei then turned toward the lump next to him started moving until he raised an odd question. "Wait, why isn't Claire up yet? She's always the first one…."
"Nii-san, if you're up then can you wake up Alice-nee!"
Kensei was shocked after hearing Claire calling out their names from downstairs, which caused him to glance in the direction of the lump sleeping next to him confused. He could sense that it was Claire downstairs based on her ki alone, but couldn't sense who was underneath the cover.
More so, since he couldn't sense who the person was based on their ki.
"If Claire's downstairs, then who're under here?"
He questioned before removing the covers that covered the unknown person, which caused a wryly smile to form on his face after noticing the person nuzzling next to him.
A young girl his age whose green hair looked akin to jade dressed in nothing but her bra and panties showing her half-naked slender figure as moved around uncomfortably like a cat; it was further attributed to her green cat ears and two cattails. She was the nekoshou who he had become acquainted with on Hagun Island, Hisui Aozaki.
"How'd she even get inside the house?"
Kensei wondered as he stared at Hisui who seemed to be feeling more and more uncomfortable as if feeling that she was getting colder.
"Ngh…."
Hisui rubbed her eyes as she leaned up on the bed and yawned out loud.
After giving one more yawn and awakening to her senses, Hisui smiled toward him.
"Good morning, Ken Ken~"
Hearing her singsong greeting, Kensei couldn't help letting a slight sigh escape from his mouth before smiling.
"Good morning, Hisui," he returned the greeting before asking the obvious question that has been on his mind as soon as he saw her. "How did you get into our house?"
"With a key, of course."
After hearing that response, Kensei immediately realized what she was referring to, which caused him to stare at her wearing a stumped look.
"You mean our house key?"
"Yes."
"From the time that all the people in our group make replicas of our house keys, then handed out to one another for emergencies."
"Yes."
"The key that Claire handed to Rui and not you since she knew that you'd do something like this."
"Yes."
Hisui answered each question wearing the most nonchalant smile he'd ever seen on her face. It didn't take long to realize that she stole the key from Rui without the girl's knowledge. Before long, Hisui came from underneath the covers then started crawling toward Kensei until she made it in front of him.
"Ken Ken, how long have we known each other?"
"About over six years. Why?"
"Well, I was wondering if you could make me your fifth fiancée."
Hearing that from her caused him to stare back at the nekomata with a confused expression on his face.
"Could you please explain what you mean?"
"Well, you know that my species are on the brink of extinction, right," Hisui questioned causing Kensei to nod his head in agreement realizing their specie's situation. "I thought that since we're both in a predicament that it'll be a benefit for the nekoshou and Amagiri Clan since our children might inherit both our abilities."
"W-Well, if you say it like that, then I can understand your reasons," Kensei replied as he glanced toward the side wearing a wryly smile. "Wait, why fifth?"
"Well, you're of course going to make Claire and Alice your third and fourth fiancées."
"Uh…."
Kensei didn't dislike that idea since aside from the others in their group, Claire and Alice were the people closest to him. He already lives with them, sleeps with them, and eats with them. So being engaged to them wouldn't be a terrible idea. Those thoughts were pushed back as he felt Hisui leaning against him wrapping her arms around his neck before leaning forward.
"I'm not against the idea of being wife number five. But, I think that it would be fun stealing Ken Ken from both the Kushihashi Clan Heir's cousin and Urakyoto's Princess," Hisui said in a whisper as she leaned closer to him. "So, what do you say, Ken Ken~ I'm not hesitant like Claire or Alice, I'm prepared for everything and anything that Ken Ken wants to do to me~"
Hisui spoke to him in an obvious seductive tone, as she pressed her lips against his cheeks causing them to turn a bright red color. Kensei had two unarguably beautiful women the same age as himself, which caused a certain reaction, which he didn't want to question at the moment. He also noticed Alice squirming around pushing herself closer against him as her breasts were pressed against him even more.
"I wonder if I should steal Ken Ken's first kiss as well."
"Well, about that last part…."
"Huh? Did Ken Ken have his first kiss already? Was it one of your fiancées?"
Before Kensei could even come up close to answering that question, there was a stomping noise leading toward his bedroom. Even without him sensing out for a presence, he felt a strong presence outside of his bedroom door which could belong to one person, which could be considered in a sense Kensei's and Alice's home caretaker.
Claire soon busted through the door before walking in with a dark aura radiating from her.
Claire now earlier into her teens had grown a lot taller than before with the growth in her bust being less apparent than Alice's but was still noticeable, her hair despite not being as long as before reached her shoulders that has several fringes that covered portions of her forehead with a black headband; dressed in her current school uniform and placed her apron on the ground.
"Good morning, Claire-chan."
"Good morning, Hisui," Claire returned the greeting wearing a faux smile on her face. "Would you care to explain why you're in Nii-san's bed?"
"I just wanted to get comfortable in bed with Ken Ken like Alice-chan."
"That is a privilege for me and Alice-nee, not intruders," Claire said before glancing at her. "A couple of seconds ago, I had an interesting talk with Rui-san who said that you stole the key to break into our house last night."
"Well, then it wouldn't be breaking in, would it?"
Hisui countered in her usual tone.
"Would you mind leaving so that Nii-san and Alice-nee could get ready for school?"
"Would you mind leaving so that I can have some fun with Ken Ken?"
Both of them questioned one another wearing a similar faux smile on their faces, although, Hisui appeared to just be going with the flow. Seconds later, Claire held her hand out causing a series of bluish-white light particles to flow around her hands before manifesting what appeared to be a modified white rifle that gave off blue light, then pointed it threateningly at Hisui.
"I'll ask again. Would you please leave?"
"Nope~"
Hisui stood up on the bed, holding out her hands summoning jade kasha in hands, which released a bright light that illuminated the bedroom. Kensei couldn't tell what was about to happen next as it seemed almost as if both of them were preparing to aim their attacks at one another.
"Mmmmm, what's with all the noise," Alice asked rubbing her eyes due to all the noise before noticing something odd pressed against her. "Huh? Why do I feel something hard pressed against my stomach?"
Hearing that from Alice, all the three people consisting of Kensei, Claire, and Hisui gained reddened cheeks due to that being brought up. It didn't take long for both the young women to realize what Alice was referring to, which caused Hisui to let out a bemused laugh.
"My Ken Ken, you beast~!"
"N-Nii-san!"
Both of them shouted, causing the tense atmosphere to vanish, causing Kensei to fall backward in his pillow and laughed lightly.
It didn't take long for them to get prepared for school, with Hisui getting dressed there since she had also brought a change of clothes. All four of them started walking the streets of Kibou, Claire was dressed in the same school uniform that Kensei and the others wore at their previous middle school. Although, Kensei, Alice, and Hisui were dressed in their current school's uniform as high school first-years carrying around their school bags.
Kensei was dressed in a white tailored blazer with black accents and the school's emblem embroiled on the front, a black buttoned-up dress shirt, black tie, black trousers, and dress shoes. And like always, he carried around his beloved Kurogane inside of its black sword bag.
Alice was dressed in a black tailored sweater with the school emblem on the breast, a white short-sleeved dress shirt, a black skirt with white accents, and brown dress shoes. Hisui was dressed in the same thing, but she was instead wearing a black blazer with white accents and the school emblem on the front.
Kensei stared at Claire who seemed to be keeping some distance from him while glancing to the side visibly with flushed cheeks still thinking about what happened.
"Come, Claire are you still mad about what happened?"
"Nii-san, I don't want to think about what happened," she said as she turned back in his direction.
"Aw, a flustered Claire-chan is always so cute."
Hisui teased as she pocked the young girl's cheek, which caused Clair to send a glare at her.
"I expect you to return that key to Rui-san later."
"Jeez, you're so hostile. I was just havin' some fun early in the morning," Hisui said before giggling and kneeling near the younger girl. "Speakin' of things morning, I think that Ken Ken had a natural case of morning wood."
"…wh-what's the matter with you?!"
"Hahaha, so cute. But, why so embarrassed about that? Don't you sleep and even bathe with Ken Ken? So, isn't it a little weird that you're getting all flustered about Ken Ken's 'second sword'."
"Could we please stop talking about my 'second sword'?"
It wasn't like him, but Kensei was feeling a little self-conscious about two women talking about his 'second sword' while the four of them were walking down the street.
"That's right. Besides, it's none of your business," Claire agreed with Kensei on that subject before turning toward Hisui. "Also, we never do indecent things in the bath aside from bathing and washing one other's backs at best…besides, we haven't seen Nii-san's 'second sword'."
Claire's face was burning at the mention of that, which causes Alice to stare in her direction in wonder.
"I didn't think that Kensei would turn into such as pervert."
"I'm not a pervert, Alice" he countered visibly flushed too. "That was an honest and normal reaction from having a certain someone pressed up against me like that."
"A pervert refusing to call himself a pervert. And what kind of samurai plays the blame on a woman?"
"You know, I can't tell whether you're being serious about this or not."
Kensei stated as he glanced at Alice, who merely turned her head away from him, which caused him to believe a smirk adorned her face.
After that 'interesting' discussion was finished, Claire soon had to break off from the group after arriving in front of Seika Middle School meeting some friends from class and giving one last wave toward Kensei and Alice. Seeing that the three teens dropped off Claire, they headed off in the direction of their high school.
Kibou Academy, a private school, which has a rich past in Kibou Town around the same time as the Amagiri Clan who inhabits the same town. This school could be entered by those who passed the entrance exams or enrolled from another one after completing from formalities. Kibou Academy was also the same school that Angela and a lot of the others entered.
Waiting for them in front of the school gate was Rui wearing dressed in their school uniform in addition to a black and green armband with 'Newspaper Club' embroiled on it. She would normally wear a cheerful look was staring in the direction of her best friend wearing a miffed look on her face.
"'Kay."
Hisui reached into her pockets and handed Rui back the key she took to enter Kensei's house, which Rui quickly sent inside of her dimensional storage so she couldn't steal it again.
"You know you're worse than a child, right?"
"But, you love that side of me, right?"
Hisui replied nonchalantly, lightly bopping herself on the head in a cutesy fashion, which caused Rui to let out an annoyed sigh from her mouth.
"I enable you too much. Well, whatever, let's go and greet the masses?"
She returned to a somewhat more lighthearted tone, which caused them to laugh lightly knowing well enough the nature of those words.
Without skipping a beat, all four of them started walking passed the school gate, where there were large groups of students male and female walking around. The exact moment that the four of them entered the schoolyard, all of the students caught sights of them.
[Iyaaaah! They're altogether in a group!]
The four of them sighed and smiled wryly expect for Hisui who was loving the attention as she reached inside her pocket pulling out the same black and green armband as Rui, with one large difference.
"The most prominent members of the Newspaper Club."
"It's the Hisui-chan, the Cheerful Feline. The Newspaper Club Vice-Chief."
"And Rui-chan the All-Knowing Sleuth."
Those were the nicknames that both Hisui and Rui were known as around school in the Newspaper Club.
Alice, who was right next to Kensei, was being stared at by both males and females alike, the former being out of lust and the latter being due to either jealously or respect.
"It's the Beautiful Blonde Artist."
"Ugh, how can you get a figure like that from doing nothing but holding a brush?!"
"Ah, but her artwork is so beautiful and inspiring."
Those were some of the comments from the female students as the male students stared at her with hearts in a lot of their eyes.
"Ah, she is so beautiful and her breasts are out of this world!"
"Her breast, waist, hips, and rear are all just too beautiful! The most living piece of art!"
"Don't too hard or else her bodyguard will get you."
After hearing that alone and the slight glance from Kensei, the male students started backing down, after noticing how close Alice was getting to the black-haired swordsman.
There was another reason for their hesitance about leering at Alice, which caused some hint of fear to creep into the hearts of the male teens. After taking one final step forward, Kensei, Alice, Hisui, and Rui stepped in front of the school entrance. In front of them, there was a large group of male students, all dressed in uniforms belonging to Kibou Academy's martial art clubs. All of these teens belonged to clubs ranging from Kendo, Judo, Karate, and even Boxing.
"This is a challenge to the one known as the Dragon Child!"
[Yes. We seek to challenge the Dragon Child!]
In response to hearing their "leader", a member of the Kendo Club and the same person who challenged Kensei during their middle school years. All the others shouted at unison almost like people hyping themselves up for an incredible battle. Hearing those comments caused the three women next to Kensei to let out different reactions at the people blocking their path.
"Well, you can't say they're not determined."
"Wow, these guys are as energetic as always~"
"Kensei, please end this soon."
Rui, Hisui, and Alice all replied as Kensei started walking forward wearing a calm smirk on his face as he started to crack his knuckles in preparation for the 'battle'. In response to that, the people in front of him prepared to fight and rushed toward Kensei from all sides.
A couple of minutes later, he stood in front of all the martial art club members who lied on the ground defeated with a look of exhaustion on their faces. Neither of them had serious injuries on them aside from the menial dirt staining their faces or uniforms. There wasn't a single wound or hint that Kensei was close to exhaustion, but a yawn had soon escaped from his mouth as he held one of the Kendo Club member's shinai in his hands.
"Come on, guys we can't keep having fights like this in front of the school," Kensei stated as he rested the shinai on his shoulder. "It'll look bad in my position and it'll get the Student Council President particularly the current Vice-President mad at me for fighting students."
"This has nothing to do with the school rules or regulations. This is about pride!"
"Yea, we'll get at least one hit on you before we graduate!"
"It doesn't matter whether or not you're apart of the Three Great Powers!"
"I like your stubborn nature since I'm the same, but," Kensei replied reaching in his pocket pulling out a black and red armband printed with the kanji for Public Morals Committee Vice-Captain before placing the armband around his right arm. "I, as the current Vice-Captain of the Public Morals Committee won't let anyone disturb this school's peace no matter what happens."
[Ahhhh~]
Nearly all of the girls in the courtyard almost swooned after hearing that line with their faces were all flushed with hearts practically in their eyes.
"Ah, Kensei-kun is as cool as always~"
"No one can touch Ken-kyun~"
"Our Untouchable Enforcer."
"Hehehe, I wouldn't mind being 'disciplined' by him alone inside of a private detention room~"
All the girls sighed in a manner, which made him sound almost as if they were blindly in love with him.
"Hehehe, Ken Ken is as popular with the ladies as always. Aren't you just jealous Alice-chan?"
Hisui questioned as she glanced toward Alice who was staring at everything that was happening in front of her in an unfazed manner.
"No."
Alice replied not feeling intimidated in the slightest about the girls swooning over him since she felt that it didn't affect their relationship in the slightest. Kensei started scratching the side of his head wearing a smile that appeared to be nothing but nervous.
"Well, I hope everyone disperses before…."
"What's going on here?!"
A strong disciplined tone arrived on the scene almost causing the martial arts club members to shutter more than when they were facing off against Kensei. Their attention went towards the two silhouettes who started walking in their direction.
Walking toward them was Maria, now a sixteen-year-old with longer hair reaching toward her back with a greater deal of beauty, which caught the attention of the people around her. Dressed in the same school uniform as all of the female students with a black and gold armband with the kanji reading "Student Council Vice President" on it.
Following behind her was Layla who had undergone a similar growth wearing the same armband, but with kanji reading "Student Council Secretary" on it. Having looked at the situation firsthand and witnessing the martial arts club members downed with Kensei standing over them whistling innocently.
"Of course, you're being this," Maria sighed before staring toward the club members. "Everyone disperse and go to your respective places before the bell rings!"
Her authoritative voice caught the attention of all the students who started doing just as she told them.
"Ah, Maria-san is as beautiful and cool as always."
"Despite being a first-year she managed to become the vice-president."
"Layla-chan acts more loyal toward Maria-chan than the actual student council president, though."
"There's no doubt that Maria-san will be the next Student Council President. And Layla-san will become the next Vice President."
Most of the girls marveled at Maria and Layla, feeling nothing more than complete admiration for them as both of them started walking toward Kensei's group.
"Why do you always have to get into a fight with them?"
"Come on, Maria. You know that I never turn down a fight when I'm directly challenged."
Hearing his response caused Maria to place her head on her forehead before glancing directly toward him.
"Not only is that a terrible habit, but that'll also lead to trouble in our business in our other life," Maria said as she glanced in his direction. "Kensei, I can tell that I'm going to have my hands full with you as the Student Council President when you're the Public Morals' Captain."
"Come on, I'm not that bad as Vice-Captain."
"There's a group of martial arts club members walking away."
Layla pointed out as she pointed toward the departing students, but Kensei merely shrugged his shoulders with a nonchalant expression smile on his face.
"Whatever, just get to class. It'll be embarrassing if you of all people are late, Vice-Captain."
"Alright, Vice-President."
Both Kensei and Maria waved their hands toward each other in a friendly fashion as the group started heading in the school building. All the group started walking through the halls ignoring all the students giving them the usual words of praise and admiration, before splitting apart to go to their separate homeroom class. Hisui, Rui, Maria, and Layla went inside of Class 1-A. It would've been easier for them to alter things so that all of them could have the same classes, but neither of them wanted to influence their school life too much.
However, if the situation called for it, then they would leave class using different methods.
Kensei and Alice continued down the halls in the direction of Class 1-D, which both of them entered, with Kensei allowing Alice to enter first. Inside of the class, there wasn't much difference between from outside, but one familiar person was sitting in the desk working behind a laptop before classes started.
It was Zane whose hair had grown a little longer as he sat there dressed in the full male school uniform, strapped behind his desk was his student bag, and wearing a miniature version of his Magus Akashic around his neck. But, despite the students talking about Kensei and Alice, there wasn't a single deviation from his routine.
"I guess he's working on something important."
Kensei surmised as he noticed Alice taking the seat next to Zane who still didn't acknowledge her presence even with both of them sitting next to them.
"So, what're you working on this time?"
In response to hearing Kensei, Zane jumped a little bit after turning to see that two of his friends were sitting next to him at the moment.
"…huh? Yea, I thought about something that might prove useful in the future."
Zane replied as he stretched his arms closing the laptop which had the same stylized "O" as the smartphone that Kensei used yesterday on it.
He turned around to place the laptop into his student bag before turning to face Kensei wearing a look of wonder on his face.
"So, how did it work?"
"Like a charm," Kensei replied as he pulled out the black smartphone from his pocket, which he last night. "I felt a little weird hearing the phone ringing in my head though."
"Well, I thought that that feature is better in case there was an emergency call during classes. And since you're all registered as the phone's owner, if you want to be more secret about the call, it'll be possible to even talk over the phone in your mind like telepathy," Zane said feeling proud pulling out a silver and black smartphone. "This is my creation combining modern technologies and norse magic, the Oracle Phone."
It had been a couple of days since Zane has the 'Oracle Phones' as he called them to Kensei and the others as a test run before he would hand them out to the others. As he explained it was a special multi-purpose smartphone more advanced than anything they've ever used before, which served as an ID, wallet, cellphone, and it also has an own personal internet terminal, which is just listing a couple. There wasn't even a need to use a charger since it recharged quicker using the owner's power.
"It not might be one of the Three Great Powers, but being in the Computer Club gives me a lot of time to work on all the things that I want."
The Three Great Powers was a general term used to refer to the Student Council, representing the student body; the Public Morals Committee, representing the student enforcers; and Newspaper Club, representing the student informants. Zane didn't feel that either of them matched him and decided to join the Computer Club, which a few numbers of people joined, but it gave him the chance to work on his projects.
"So, what were you working on after we walked in?"
Alice questioned, but Zane decided to keep quiet about it.
"Well, I'll talk about it later. It was something that I thought about during the weekend after talking about our little planned trip," Zane wanted to be discrete about their trip since there was a lot of more students gathered around their group, which caused them to nod their head. "We'll talk about it more during lunch."
The three decided to leave it at that, then their teacher soon entered the classroom and started their class, which proceeded with some of the students intently listening.
Their classes continued until their lunch period arrived, where Kensei, Alice, and Zane gathered on the school's roof, which had a place where the students could eat their lunch on a round concrete table. All three of them had their lunches out as the door leading to the door opened revealing Hisui, Rui, Maria, and Layla.
"Welcome to another meeting of the Seven Rebels."
Zane cheerfully proclaimed as he raised his hands, which caused Layla to let a slight sigh escape her mouth.
"Are we still calling ourselves that?"
"Well, no one has gone against it."
Zane replied shrugging his shoulders causing the four women to take a seat before pulling out their lunch boxes.
"Well, what is the first on the agenda of the Seven Rebels?"
"Not you too sis."
"Hahaha, Maria-chan does have a sense of humor."
"I never said I didn't have one."
Maria replied to Hisui after Layla was surprised that even her 'older sister' was referring to their group by the title, which Zane came up with.
"Well, since our usual jokes are put aside. What is on the agenda?"
Rui questioned as she took a slight glance toward Zane who put a barrier around them so that the students who would walk onto the school roof would think they're having a normal conversation.
"Well, I think that we should talk about our planned trip."
"You mean visiting your home in the Norse Faction?"
Maria questioned as she plotted a piece of meat in her mouth using chopsticks before starting to chew.
"Yes, thinking about what Kensei's dad said, we needed to wait until we reached the age were important people would want to listen to us rather to a bunch of younger teens," Zane replied before pointing his chopstick towards them. "My house, in particular, has strong connections with the dwarves and norse gods, so it would be easier to form connections with the norse first."
"Would that be easy? I mean, talking to humans is one thing, but would it be easy to talk to a god?"
Rui questioned.
"Odin is the easiest person to talk about. More so, if we offer them something then it'll be easier forming our first connection with the Norse Pantheon. This would also be the most important since their magic is one of the most advanced among the other mythical factions."
"But, what could we offer a god?"
Kensei decided to join in and throw in that question.
"I have a couple of ideas in mind. I might not have been there for a long time, but I know there is a lot of things in the Norse Faction that we could provide. If the older teens agree to one of them."
"What's was that?"
Alice questioned, which caused Zane to wave his hands in front of himself laughing nervously a little.
"Nothing nothing, well that aside we should think about the people who'll be going. Since the older teens agreed that we essentially represent the Kibou Group, some of us should leave and some should remain in cause there was an emergency."
"Who among our group would be perfect to depart to the norse faction?"
Rui asked as she glanced at Zane who seemed to be thinking that question through before answering.
"For the people who would go including me," Zane said before opening his mouth. "No doubt, it would have to be Kensei, Alice, and Claire. Then Maria and Hisui, if you're interested. Since Rui learned senjutsu from Hisui, she'll be able to sense the ki of ominous people who manage to enter Kibou Town. I think that Layla and Iris should still be here since a lot of the older sisters went off to different colleges especially Abigail who managed to get into a good school."
"Hmm, so we're getting left behind again," Layla said before shrugging her shoulders. "But, I understand. Iris and I will keep the people in town safe from harm."
"Sorry, but I know that you and Iris will be able to handle yourselves. We'll go on more trips to different places in the future and I'm sure that we'll visit the Norse Faction again."
Maria said as she glanced at Layla wearing a smile, which said girl return.
"So, that'll be all for our planned trip to Zane's homeland to encounter our first foreign god."
Kensei added looking forward to meeting another god, which caused Zane to chuckle a little.
"I wouldn't have that much anticipation in meeting Lord Odin. You'll end up seeing that he has some more or less interesting hobbies."
Zane pointed out causing his group to stare in his direction wondering about what that meant.
However, he remained silent as he and his friends continued to enjoy the silence of the situation as they ate their lunch as the wind gently blew. For those who were going on the trip to the Norse Faction, they were looking forward to seeing the culture of another faction and encountering some new people.
A/N: And there goes the twenty-first chapter of DxD – The Last Amagiri, I apologize for the wait of added in another chapter for the Last Amagiri and the official start of the fourth volume. Kensei and the others have reached high school as first-year students. At this point in his life, he might find that all of the girls might become more aggressive toward him as shown with Hisui. Zane appears to has started working on some new inventions for everyone in Kibou Town and all of them if not most of them are planning to visit the Norse Faction. I wonder how this next volume would turn out.
So, until next time.
