Let The Fights Begin
Izuku sighed in absolute relief as his team's victory was announced. He carefully let down Setsuna off his shoulders and put her on the ground as she pouted saying, "Ah man, and I wanted to sit on you some more." The boy blushed as he chuckled a little at the girl's behavior. He looked at his teammates and said, "Well guys, it seems we made it to the third part of the festival. Congratulation."
Ibara clasped her hands as she dove into a prayer, "It's thanks to the lord's watchful eye on us that we were able to advance to the next round. May he always protect us with his power." Suddenly a huge beam of light engulfed her as her teammates asked themselves, 'Seriously, where does that light come from?' Izuku even looked up to see where it came from but didn't find anything.
Kamakiri nodded his head, "Yeah, we did make it, but now we're all enemies, so be ready I'll crush you all in the finals…" he turned to Izuku, "…especially you stutter, I want you to come at me with all that you got. Don't you dare go easy on me."
Izuku nodded, "I expect the same thing from you, so I don't want you to underestimate me either." The bug boy laughed as he walked away talking about he was going to win this thing.
Izuku took a step forward before stumbling, and almost falling over. He looked at his leg and noticed that it was sore from earlier when he kicked the huge machine, and the cavalry battle made it worse. He also looked at his finger which was also bruised to a certain degree from when he blasted Kacchan. He needed to see Recovery Girl right now so he can advance with a peaceful mind to the finals, or else he'll have many problems on his hands.
Seeing that he had trouble walking, Setsuna grabbed him quickly, saying, "I think this warrants a visit to Recovery Girl, though I think she's going to be less than happy seeing you at her face once more." The boy chuckled awkwardly, "Well, what matters right now is getting you up and functional for the next round, or else you won't be able to do much."
Izuku couldn't help but agree with her knowing that he needed to re-energize himself to go to the matches or else he won't be able to do good to stand out, but he was sure that taking out the zero-pointer was more than enough to earn him some brownie points with the pros, so now he needed to show them all the skills that he had inside the tournament.
Setsuna then looked to the side and laughed, "Well, Vlad-sensei seems pumped up." The boy looked to the side as he saw his homeroom teacher cheering for them, and telling them how proud he was.
Izuku looked at Ibara and said, "Well, see you in the cafeteria Shiozaki, and I hope you do well." The religious girl smiled and thanked him before excusing herself to go eat, so she can get ready for the next part.
Before they can even walk away from the field, someone stood in their way. Todoroki; the recommendation student from class 1-A; looked at them or more specifically at Izuku as he said, "Midoriya, I need to talk to you right now. I promise it won't take much of your time." He went to grab the boy, but his hand was smacked off.
He was shocked, but then glared at Setsuna who said, "First of all, rude; at least introduce yourself to someone before you try to take them away." She pushed him aside walking with Izuku, "Second of all, can't you see he's in pain? His leg and finger are bruised and sore from overusing his quirk. He needs to see Recovery Girl right now, so this little talk of yours has to wait a little bit."
Todoroki could only glare at the girl, but he took a deep breath and allowed them to walk to the infirmary. Of course, he followed them all the way there. He was going to have this chat with Midoriya whether the boy was willing or not.
In the infirmary, Recovery Girl just finished healing Izuku who sighed in relief, "Thanks for that." he began to stretch his leg and flex his finger, but the old woman said, "You really want to thank me? Stop coming here." The boy smiled sheepishly as the old woman sighed, "I'll reserve a bed just for you." On the side, Setsuna couldn't hold her laughter anymore as she exploded into a fit of giggles.
Both exited the infirmary only to come face to face with Todoroki who said to Setsuna with a scowl on his face, "He's all healed up now," he then grabbed Izuku's P.E. jacket yanking him to his side something that made the girl's blood boil, "I'll take him from here. I want to talk him…" he narrowed his eyes at the girl, "PRIVATELY"
The girl was about to reject the idea when Izuku lifted his hand saying, "It's alright Tokage. It seems that it's rather urgent, so I'll go with him. Tell the others to save a seat for me so I can eat…" he began to walk away with Todoroki leaving a shell-shocked girl behind, but then added, "Oh, and save me some Katsudon; I'm really famished from the first two rounds."
The girl watched them as they walked away, saying, "There's no universe that I'll allow you to go with him without supervision." She sent her ear and eye after the duo; she knew that Izuku was capable on his own, but she couldn't help it; she felt worried for him. he was technically her best friend, so she was just looking out for him.
Little did the girl know that she wasn't the only one peeping on the duo's conservation.
With Izuku, Todoroki took him to an empty hallway which in movies meant he was about to be attacked. Izuku looked at him, "Well Todoroki, you now have me, so can you tell me what you want? The cafeteria is about to get full, and I don't want to fight without eating lunch, and I'm sure you don't want that too." The boy began to rub the back of his head nervously.
Todoroki was just staring at him, unnerving him even further. The boy lifted his hand as he began to look at it, "You made me break my pledge, Midoriya…" the green-haired blinked in confusion thinking about what the boy was talking about. 'Pledge… what pledge?'
Noticing the confused look on Izuku's face, the bicolored teen said, "I have long made a pledge that I won't use the fire part of my quirk, since if I did that I would be only becoming what he wants from me." he then glared at Izuku, "But you today overwhelmed me so much that I subconsciously used it, so I just want to know one thing; why did someone from a class that most of its members won't be remembered managed to force me to use the flames that I hate so much, when no one other couldn't, even my own classmates weren't able to do that."
Izuku frowned at the insult directed to him and his classmates whether be it on purpose or not, but he decided to ignore it since a more pressing matter was at hand, "Why would you want to limit yourself in such a way? I mean why not use your fire, it would only make you stronger and be able to perform your hero work better. It seems kinda ridiculous from my point of view."
The boy frowned at Izuku, "What I find ridiculous is that you think I need his fire to become a hero." The boy clenched his fist as he spoke with so much venom in his voice that it made Izuku and Setsuna shiver, "Tell me, how am I limiting myself by not using his fire?"
Izuku though a little bit worried at this point braved through, "Well, I mean you could use your flames against ice villains, against villains who have vibration quirks and could shatter your ice, in an avalanche area where you could warm up people…" the boy continued to count uses for the boy's flames, but he was silenced when Todoroki slammed his hand against the wall.
The boy looked at him as if he was having a midlife crisis, "No, you're wrong. I don't need it. I could perform the same things with my mother's quirk." The boy just stood there for a moment before shaking his head, and looking back at Izuku, "There's something else I wanted to ask you; it's about you and All Might."
Izuku began to panic at this point as he asked himself, 'Does he know about 'one for all'? but how? We aren't in the same class… Could he be work…'
Izuku didn't get to finish that thought as the bicolored boy asked the weirdest question the other boy had ever heard, "Are you All Might's secret love child or something?"
Tokage from where she was listening to them almost choked on her food when she heard the question but was able to control herself as she tried to imagine Izuku's face right now.
Izuku could only blink dumbly as he processed the question, 'AM I WHAT' He screamed in his head before he looked at the boy who was waiting for an answer. The boy naturally waved his hands saying, "No, of course not that's not our relationship. I mean he only helps me with my quirk given that we both have some type of physical enhancing quirk."
The boy hummed, "Then there's your power, I'm sure no one felt it on your team, but it reminded me of All Might's power from the USJ, so are you sure that you aren't his secret love child?" Izuku sweat-dropped as he suddenly felt the conservation lose all of its seriousness. The boy could only nod in amusement given how Todoroki seemed convinced by his theory.
The bicolored boy shook his head, "No matter, I don't want to know what relation you have with him, but all I need to know is that you have one with him, so you can consider this a declaration of war; I'm going to beat you using my mom's quirk only."
Izuku shifted uncomfortably as he asked the boy the million-dollar question, "Can I know what you feel the need to beat me? because I am confused, right now."
Todoroki began to stare at his hand, "Tell me, have you ever heard of quirk marriages?"
Izuku nodded, "Yeah, I read about them. They were a problem among the first-generation quirk users where people would be forced to marry each other to give birth to a child with a strong quirk, but it was out…" It was then it hit Izuku as he looked at Todoroki, "Don't tell me, are you…"
Shoto answered him, "My father Endeavor is a very ambitious man. He always wanted to become the number one hero, but with All Might in the picture; it was close to impossible." His face began to contract in anger and hatred, "So he went and began to search for a new way to become the number one hero; through his offspring. He went and bought off my mother's parents and relatives to arrange a quirk marriage, but his first three children were deemed failures, and I was the golden boy or the special one. He kept training me non-stop. Where other children were having their parents taking them to the park, mine was punching me so hard I couldn't move my body…" the boy began to take deep breaths to calm himself.
Izuku dared himself to ask, "Is the burn mark on your face his doing?"
The boy glared at him, "No, it was my mom's," the boy lifted his hand and touched his scar with sadness evident in his eyes, "My mom was a very nice person, but living with him drove her to insanity." The boy began to shake, "Every time, I remember her I can only see her saying my left side is unbearable before she throws boiling water on it." The boy looked at Izuku with a determined look, "That's why I'll beat you with my mom's ice to finally prove to that bastard that I only need my mom's quirk to be a hero, so when we fight don't hold back Midoriya."
Todoroki began to walk away, but he stopped when he heard Izuku speak, "I can't say I understand where you're coming from, but I have people counting on me, and I want to make them proud, so I also declaring war on you, so you better fight me with everything you got." Shoto was about to continue walking when Izuku called out, "And Todoroki…"
The boy looked back at him as Izuku said, "Good luck out there" The boy weirded out by this said in a very awkward manner, "Thanks"
Once Shoto was away, Izuku slumped against the wall as he said, "Man, I hate this. I think I just entered a rabbit hole."
Meanwhile, in the cafeteria, Setsuna couldn't believe what she just heard. This was something that she shouldn't have known, but it was too late to take that knowledge back. How knew that the number two hero would do so many immoral things just for a position on the billboards, 'And I thought my parents' work addiction was bad'
She was cut out of her thoughts when someone tapped her shoulder. She looked only to see Itsuka who said, "I have something to tell you…"
Izuku walked back to the cafeteria drained from his conservation but managed to eat a bit as he tried to find a way to process what he just heard. It wasn't every day you find that the number two hero was an abusive person, and basically drove his wife to insanity from his drive to become the number one hero.
He sighed deeply, but a voice yelled out to him, "Greenie, over here."
The boy looked around and he wished he didn't. all the girls from his class were wearing rather skimpy cheerleader costumes. The boy's eyes almost bulged out as he then removed his jacket and tried to cover the girls as he said, "What in god's green earth are you girls wearing?"
Kendo replied, "Cheerleading costumes for the cheerleading competition. Vlad-sensei told us" Kendo noticed the unimpressed look on Izuku's face which made her chuckle uncomfortably feeling that he knew something she didn't.
"How come he didn't tell me? I'm the vice." Izuku demanded as he gave his jacket to Ibara was the most embarrassed one along with Kinoko.
"Well, Vlad-sensei didn't tell me, but he told Tsuburaba," Kendo admitted.
Izuku blinked owlishly saying, "Didn't you call him a pervert yesterday?" this made Kendo's eyes go wide. Kendo quickly facepalmed as she felt like she was just tricked by a five-year-old.
Suddenly, it clicked to all the girls that they might have been tricked, they might have been backstabbed, and they might have been quite possibly bamboozled. All of them began to groan in annoyance for falling for such an obvious trick, but Kendo took out her phone to warn Yaoyorozu since she saw her class pervert talking with Mineta who already amassed himself a reputation of being the hero course's greatest pervert. Moments later, Kendo came back with an annoyed look on her face, "I can't believe we almost fell for their trick. It seems the pervert force from both classes united forces to trick into wearing these costumes."
Izuku patted her back, "Well now, you know so you should go change because we're up in a few minutes." The girl nodded and got up ushering for everyone to follow her, but Setsuna lingered looking at Izuku with a predatory look.
The girl lunged at him, "Tell me greenie, how do I look inside this costume? Do you think that I'm hot?" She hugged him from the side and waited for a reaction from him, and she knew she'll have one.
The boy began to mumble out incoherent words, but he suddenly felt something pushing against his arm, and it was Tokage's chest which was more than enough to cause the boy to blackout. The girl chuckled awkwardly as Ibara sent her vines to carry Izuku, "Oops." The other girls shook their heads as Kendo took the boy from Ibara, and they walked to change their clothes.
After the girls changed their clothes, they were all in the stadium field, but Izuku was still out as Kinoko said, "Setsuna, did you really have to do that? Look at him, it seems that his brain was burned out completely." The mentioned girl could only smile sheepishly as she looked at the boy who was still passed out on Kendo's shoulder.
Moments later, Izuku began to stir. Kendo noticed this and put him on the ground as she slapped him lightly to which the boy woke up. He looked at the orange-haired girl, "What happened? Did I pass out?" he remembers Setsuna doing something to him, but other than that, he recalls nothing.
The girl smiled at him as she coughed clearing her voice to say, "Well, Set took teasing a little too much when she rubbed her chest against your arm, so you kinda passed out for about ten minutes, so we kinda carried you around till you woke up from your slumber."
The boy's face tried red as he muttered under his breath, "So that really happened. I thought it was just a weird dream." He gulped looking at Tokage who winked at him making him blush even harder.
Kendo on the side only laughed at them and began to wonder if Tokage liked him because she seemed to focus most of her teasing on him. Was this her way of saying that she was interested in someone? She looked at Tokage who seemed to be looking at them blankly, as Kendo said in her head, 'Don't tell me. Does Set…'
She was cut from her thoughts when Midnight made it to the podium, as she said, "Welcome back folks to the U.A. sports festival, and now we'll begin the fighting tournament." She looked at the screen as she began, "And here are the matches…"
The pro hero was cut off by a student saying, "I would like to withdraw from the tournament." Everyone looked at him. he was a normal-looking boy, but the only feature he had was a tail that had blond hair on its tip.
Izuku then saw 1-A's vice go up to him, and try to convince him not to do that, but the boy said, "In the previous event, I don't remember anything from it. How can I go and fight in the second part of the festival, if I can't even remember what I did? It stands against everything I represent as a martial artist." Izuku couldn't help, but respect him since this decision took a lot of courage no matter how ridiculous it may seem to others.
Suddenly, a familiar voice to Izuku rang out, "I also would like to withdraw from the next event for the same reason." It was Shoda. Izuku looked at him, as Kaibara came up to the boy to convince him otherwise, but the boy didn't budge on the issue.
Midnight seemed to love this kind of chaos, "Oh, all of this youthful energy and values really turns me on." She looked at the two boys saying, "Your request as illogical as it may seem was allowed, but now we need two more contenders to take your place, so team 5 give us two members please."
The team was Kodai's team, but the girl shook her head as Awase said, "Well, as much as we want to join the tournament, I think you should give this opportunity to team Kendo. They deserve it more than we do." The other team looked at him surprised.
Kendo then said, "Awase, what are you saying? This is a lifetime opportunity. You can't just throw it away like that…" She was cut off by Yanagi who spoke clearly, "But near the end when we were frozen, we kinda gave up, while you kept going on and on after the 10 million points. It's only fair that we give the team who put the most effort into this a chance to shine."
Kendo couldn't believe it as she smiled brightly at her classmates. She looked at the other 3 she worked with during the cavalry battle, and they all decided that Kendo and Tetsu should advance to the final phase of the sports festival. They informed Midnight who then said, "Alright, everyone Itsuka Kendo and Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu will advance to the final round."
The woman pressed a button as she said, "Well folks, here are the matches for the first round of 1v1 fights." It first showed 16 fights arranged in order, and the winner of each fight will move forward to the next one. Izuku looked with interest, as he searched for his match. he eventually found it; it was the first match against someone named Shinso. He blinked in confusion not remembering anyone by that name, but someone called out to him.
"So you must be Midoriya?" Izuku looked around only to see the purple-haired teen that tried to scare them two weeks ago, "I hope we have a good fight. I know I want one." The boy said. The moment Izuku tried to reply, a hand was put on his mouth as Shoda looked at him, and shook his head telling him to be quiet. He looked at the other boy who simply scowled, and walked away.
"Thanks, Shoda, but why did you do that?" Izuku asked as Shoda said, "I don't know, but it's his quirk. Come with me. I'll explain everything somewhere else so no one can hear us." Izuku walked away with him so the boy can explain to him his opponent's quirk.
Meanwhile, Kendo looked for her name and saw that she was fighting Momo. The girl smiled since she and the rich girl formed some type of unspoken rivalry with each other. She looked at Momo, "I really hope that you don't go easy on me, Yaoyorozu. If I win this, I want to win it fairly."
The other girl smiled, "I can say the same thing for you too. I hope we have a good match Kendo, and may the best of us win and advance to the next fight." Both of them shook hands as a sign of respect.
Tetsu looked around, and his face fell when he saw who he was up against. He silently cursed under his breath as he said, "You gotta be kidding me. Of all the people I have to face. It just had to be him." his match was against what he called his red-haired copycat from class 1-A. the boy groaned; it was like the universe was conspiring against him, but he smiled as he thought about a new trick he developed that he may use in his fight.
Kamakiri looked at the matches; he was the one in the second row, and he was in the 6th match. he was placed against Tokoyami. And if he remembered correctly, the guy had some kind of sentient shadow monster that lived in him. he looked at his first opponent eying him up and down, as he thought of a way to defeat him.
Ibara looked at the matches and noticed that she was in the 5th match. she was against the speedy student from class 1-A, Tenya Iida. It was going to be quite the challenge since the battle was mostly focused on who gets who first. Her vines or his speed. The only way she could win was to use some underhanded tactics, but doing so made her feel like a villain, at the same time in real-life situations, you need to use such a thing to ensure everyone's safety. Conflicted and confused; the only words that can describe her state of mind right now.
Setsuna looked at the screen looking for a name, but a question answered her, "Who the fuck is Tokage?" She looked with shock and a little fear, as she saw that her opponent was Bakugo himself. Sure, she hated him for all the things he had done to Izuku, but she wasn't dumb enough to underestimate him; that's how you died in heroics. Now, she needed to form a plan to defeat him.
Present Mic then said through the speakers, "Well folks, we'll have a small school activity while the 16 contenders ready themselves," he looked at Midnight, "Carry us away, Midnight."
The R-Rated heroine smiled, "We'll all have now a small scavenger hunt, while the students get ready to fight it out." the other students who didn't get to join the tournament began to play a part in the scavenger hunt with its most noticeable moment being when Ochako considered Monoma as something perverted.
After the scavenger hunt was finished, Present Mic came back to the speakers, "Welcome back ladies and gentlemen, we're now at the most integral part of the sports festival, the fighting tournament where students will fight to the death to…" a harsh sound that resembled something being poked with a hot poker echoed across the mic before the man came back, "Sorry ladies and gentlemen, I tend to get excited, what I meant to say is that was reached the place where students fight to show their skills to pros. The fights will also be monitored by Midnight and Cementoss." He stopped a little before he talked again, "Did I read it right, Eraser?" a harsh slap was heard as laughter echoed through the stadium.
Eraser's voice emitted from the speakers, "I can't believe I'm here." He looked down at the ring Cementoss have prepared and said, "Let's get this over with so I can go sleep"
Mic replied, "Well, there you have it, folks. Eraser thinks that the festival is a waste of our precious time." The voice hero carried on as he said, "Well, let the fights begin. Our first match will begin right now."
On the ring, fireworks erupted as it welcomed its two competitors, Present Mic announced, "On the left side of the ring, we have the strength-wielding green-haired fighter of class 1-B, Izuku Midoriya," the crowd erupted into cheers as they welcomed the student who blushed heavily at the cheers still not used to this much attention. He looked at his class section and saw his friends waving their hands telling him to win.
The voice hero carried on, "On the right side, we have the black horse of the general studies, he- well he didn't do anything to stand out yet, so he's the wildcard of the event, Hitoshi Shinso." the boy walked with an air of confidence as if he knew that he was going to win, he looked at Izuku, "Let's have a good fight"
Izuku kept his mouth shut and didn't say anything. He still remembered his talk with Shoda before he came here.
Earlier, Izuku blinked in confusion as Shoda dragged him away from the boy that was talking to him, the boy then said, "I'm sorry, but I didn't want you to lose before it started." This caused the boy's interest to increase.
Shoda continued, "Whatever happens, don't reply to him." Izuku tilted his head wondering why as the boy carried on, "I don't know how his quirk works, but what I remember is that the moment I spoke to him, my mind became fuzzy, and I didn't remember anything till the end of the event."
Izuku nodded, "SO you think he has a quirk that is based on response." The blue-haired boy nodded as Izuku said, "Thanks for the advice, Shoda." The boy smiled as he went away leaving Izuku to deal with this information.
Midnight looked at them, "Listen now I want a fair fight, and I don't want any of you to do anything that threatens the safety of the other, got it?" the two boys nodded. Midnight then lifted her whip and brought it down as she yelled, "Begin"
Shinso looked at Izuku, "I give up right…" Izuku kept his mouth shut knowing that the boy was trying to beat him by having him respond, "I mean what kind of idiot throws away this type of opportunity? Morals, am I right." Izuku bit his lip willing himself not to answer him.
Izuku activated his quirk and was about to go to punch him, but the boy then said, "Then again, I guess that he doesn't know what it takes to win. I mean he's in the hero course, just look at him; he looks like a slob who wouldn't last a minute in a fight. I wonder how they allowed a failure like him into the hero…"
Against his better judgment, Izuku yelled, "Don't you dare talk about…" suddenly the boy felt his mind go blank as he mentally said, 'Damn it, I fell for it.'
On the other hand, Shinso felt delighted as he said, "Well hero boy, well done showing off that flashy quirk. Now be a good hero, and walk off the stage."
Back in the student booths, everyone looked with worry as their friend turned around and was walking to the other end of the ring. Shoda said, "Man, I went through all the trouble to warn him, and he still fell for it." The boy slumped in defeat.
Tokage looked and said, "Maybe Greenie can break through his control; don't lose hope yet." Everyone looked at the field as Izuku slowly walked away with Kamakiri mentally saying, 'Come on, stutter snap out of it! How am I supposed to beat you, if someone with no training got you first?'
Back with Izuku, the boy was trying to stop himself from exiting the ring, but his body was responding to his commands. It felt as if he was now in the back seat of his mind while someone else was driving him.
Present Mic's voice came through the speakers, "What is Midoriya doing? Why is he walking outside the ring?" his reply came from Eraserhead who simply said, "This is Shinso's quirk. If someone responds to a question of his, he falls under his control. This is why the entrance exams are irrational; it only prioritizes people with combat quirks, while those with equally useful quirks are cast to the side."
With Izuku, Shinso began to taunt him as he said, "You know it must have been nice being born with a flashy quirk. People all your life praising you, telling you how you are meant for greatness…" Izuku on the other hand, 'In my entire life, I was never praised for anything. My life was hard and horrible…'
Shinso carried on speaking, "I bet it was so easy to enter the school using your flashy quirk." He stopped for a moment, and carried on, "You know with a quirk like mine I was never meant for heroics, or at least that is what people thought. I was always told that I was meant to be a villain, but I never gave up, not that you can understand." In his mind, Izuku said, 'But I do understand, my entire life I was always being made fun of. My dream was always the butt of people's jokes. No one ever believed in my dream of becoming a hero. It's only because All Might trained me that I was given this opportunity of having my wildest dream come true.'
Shinso added, "You know sometimes I really wished I was born quirkless; at least then people won't say that I was born with a villain's quirk. I think then people might have been more compassionate or at least left me alone." Inside Izuku's mind, Shinso's words left a deep mark as he remembered all the torture that he went through when he was quirkless; People burning his stuff, the beatings, and the suicide notes left on his desk and inside his locker.
This simple statement fueled Izuku's will to fight back against the mind control as he noticed that was coming dangerously close to the other side of the ring. He tried to fight as much as he can, but Shinso then said, "I know you're trying to fight my mind control, but don't bother; once I got you, there's no escape from it. No one was ever able to break it, so don't waste your breath trying to do it."
Izuku mentally said, 'It won't end here.' Then something began to happen.
Inside All Might's lounge, the man was slumped over in defeat. Mind control quirks were hard to break through, and it seems that Midoriya picked the short end of the stick, and was about to lose.
Gran Torino looked to the field, and said, "I don't think he's going to lose." All Might looked at his sensei who was pointing his finger down to the ring. All Might looked and saw that Midoriya was nearing the end of the ring. He really hoped that the boy wins, but the circumstances offered otherwise, then he remembered the times he went against a mental quirk, and smiled. 'No need to worry, young Midoriya is going to do just fine.'
With Izuku, the boy felt the energy of his quirk coursing through his body, 'This power; is this the true extent of 'one for all'? It seems so warm.' The boy noticed from the side of his eyes eight shadowy figures standing inside an entrance tunnel from which he came from the ring as he heard a whisper saying, "It's not time yet." The energy coursed through his finger, as he released a wind blast breaking his finger and in turn, freeing himself from the mind control as he stopped a few centimeters from exiting the ring.
In the 1-B booth, the students sighed happily as their classmate managed to break free, as Shoda said, "Man, I thought he was a goner for a moment there."
Ibara clasped her hands as she said, "The lord was on Midoriya's side, may he always protect him from all the forces of evil that try to lay their hands on him." this was followed by a beam of light causing the others to look for its source.
Setsuna stayed quiet as she smiled, while Kamakiri only grinned waiting for his fight against Midoriya.
In the teacher's booth, Vlad stood up and yelled, "THAT'S MY STUDENT! SHOW THEM WHAT YOU'RE MADE OF." The other teachers began to laugh at him and his behavior finding it funny.
Present Mic's voice echoed through the speakers as he said, "Look at that, Midoriya managed to make a comeback and free himself from Shinso's mind control, but will he be able to take the gold from him, and be the overall winner of this match?"
Shinso looked with shock itched on his face as he just couldn't wrap his mind against it; someone broke through his mind control. It never happened before, so why did it have to happen when he was so close to victory? He didn't know what to do now. His mind then took him to the confrontation he had with Kamakiri 2 weeks ago where the boy berated him for only depending on his quirk. Shinso shook his head, because in his mind if he admitted the hero student was right then everything he ever worked for would be in vain.
Izuku turned around and ran toward Shinso. he was in pain and wanted this match to end, but he wanted to let Shinso put on a good fight. He came up to the boy and threw a punch which the boy tried to block, but failed as the fist connected with his stomach, but Shinso tried to bait Izuku again, "Every day in my life, people told me who was I was destined to be the world's greatest villain…"
Izuku tried to throw another punch, but Shinso grabbed his arm as he tried to head-butt him. Izuku disengaged as he replied with a kick to the boy's side sending him falling to the side. The boy stood up as he yelled, "Someone like you will never know how hard it is for me to become a hero all due to a quirk that I didn't choose to be born with…"
Izuku rushed toward Shinso punching him in the gut causing the boy to choke on his breath, but the boy recovered quickly as he elbowed Izuku in the nose causing blood to fall out, "Get out of this ring." Shinso demanded as he grabbed Izuku's shoulder and began to ram him outside the ring.
The green-haired boy was smart. He eyed the edge of the ring and waited for the perfect moment. Once they were near the edge of the ring, Izuku grabbed Shinso's arm and lifted him. The boy twirled around as he made sure that he was still in the ring before performing a shoulder toss throwing Shinso to the ground outside of the ring.
Midnight announced, "And there you have it, folks, Izuku Midoriya is the winner of the first match of the tournament." The crowds began to cheer for the exciting match.
Shinso felt pain in his chest, as he saw all the hopes of him entering the hero course evaporate like water under the sun; he drew a short stick. He just had to fight against someone who had resistance to mind control; 'wasn't that thing like a one in a million' A thought crossed his mind as he tried to accept what already has happened now.
The boy noticed a shadow standing above him. he looked up only to see Izuku standing over him as he asked, "Why do you want to be a hero?"
The boy blinked unsure what to answer, but he voiced out what came first to his mind, "The heart can't help, but yearn for something. I always wanted to be a hero, but I guess now that you defeated me; that dream will remain a dream like it always was."
Izuku shook his head slightly, "You're wrong. You're going to be an awesome hero one day. Heck, you even attracted the attention of some pros today." The purple-haired boy looked to the stand where the heroes were staying, and he heard them praising him and his quirk. He then looked to the general studies area and saw his classmates cheering him on.
Izuku smiled at him, "See this Shinso, you already are a hero to your friends, and I'm sure one day you'll be able to fulfill your dream of becoming a pro hero." The boy turned back to go to the infirmary but was stopped when the boy called out to him.
Shinso said, "Today, you opened my eyes to a lot of things, Midoriya. You managed to beat me in a fight while not using your quirk because I noticed it tends to give off lighting when it is used, so I have to think things through." Shinso came up to him, "Don't you dare lose to anyone at this point, and make me look weak, and don't fall to people's tricks so easily."
The boy smiled, "You go…" and his brain went blank. Shinso laughed as he took the boy to Recovery Girl not believing the boy fell to his trick after he told him not to.
Back in 1-B's booth, the entire classroom was in shock as Manga's speech bubble read, "Did he seriously manage to befriend the guy who was aiming to take our seats?" the others nodded as the boy said, "His true quirk is the power of friendship. It seems very O.P." the others began to laugh at his words as the boy insisted that he was serious.
In 1-A's booth, everyone seemed interested in the fight, but one student said, "Man, I really thought he was going to lose after that dirty trick he pulled off." Mineta whined causing everyone to look at him. The girls frowned as they knew what he meant; it was due to Midoriya that they weren't humiliated on national television. Momo made a note to buy the green-haired boy a gift for saving them from embarrassment.
A little while later, Izuku made it to class 1-B's booth. Tokage and Kinoko greeted him. Tokage hugged him, "Dude, you totally killed it out there. For a moment there, you seemed you were about to lose, but then you turned it all around and came back stronger than ever. You were awesome." The boy blushed from the embrace.
Kinoko added, "But how were you able to break from the mind control though?" the boy shrugged as he didn't have a clue how he did it. Looking back at it, he remembered the shadowy figures, but other than that nothing.
Pony yelled at them, "Be quiet, guys. The second match is begin." The girl became better at Japanese when Izuku took her under his wing. She still needed a little more work, but she was fine right now; at least she can communicate with them without problems.
Down in the ring, two people appeared from opposite ends of the ring as Present Mic introduced them, "On one end, we have the recommendation student of 1-A. the girl who can give Santa Claus a run for his money, Momo Yaoyorozu." The crowd began cheering for her as she also heard wolf whistles causing her to shudder in disgust, "On the other end, we have the president of class 1-B, the big sister of the class who keeps everyone in line, Itsuka Kendo." The girl received the same treatment as Momo, but she ignored the whistles though she wondered how Mic knew of her big sister status. Somewhere, a rat was currently laughing as he drank tea.
Midnight told them the rules like the previous match as Kendo said to Momo, "Give me your best, Yaoyorozu. I don't want you to hold back." She smiled and added, "If you're having second thoughts, last chance to back out." this caused the other girl's eyebrow to twitch.
The raven-haired beauty smirked, "I was about to tell you the same thing, Kendo. May the best fighter win." Midnight announced the beginning of the match, as both girls ran toward each other. Momo formed a shield while Kendo clenched her fist. Kendo's fist met Momo's shield signaling the beginning of the match.
In 1-B's booth, everyone watched the match carefully, they looked at Izuku who was scribbling furiously inside his notebook talking about theories and uses for Momo's quirk. Tokage asked him, "Hi, greenie, how much are the chances that Itsuka manages to beat Yaomomo from class 1-A."
The boy hummed a little as he thought about the question. He then said, "I guess it all depends on who manages to catch who off-guard first. I mean if Kendo manages to enlarge her hand and grab Yaoyorozu before she can make creations, and constrict her hard enough, she might be able to defeat her quickly, or if Yaoyorozu manages to form some type of heavy net that bends Kendo's hand together and make it hard for her to use her quirk, then Yaoyorozu won." He stopped for a moment before adding, "Like I said it all depends on luck."
From 1-A's booth, Monoma appeared as he yelled, "LOOK, 1-B LOSERS AS OUR GLORIOUS MOMO MANAGES TO DEFEAT YOUR CLASS REP BEFORE SHE MOVES ON TO YOUR VICE IN THE NEXT ROUND. I WANT YOU ALL TO SEE 1-A IN ITS GLORY. TODAY, IT WILL BE A LESSON…" the boy didn't manage to get far as the dart hit his neck from Ochako who said, "Momo, gave me this just in case. I'm sorry for him, but he really means well, even though he doesn't act like it." She then used her quirk to carry him to his seat.
The entirety of class 1-B sweat-dropped as they said mentally, 'Class 1-A sure have some interesting characters on them.' They all looked to the ring where the fight between the girl was raging on.
Back in the ring, Kendo was punching Momo's shield rapidly. The rich girl was shocked at the strength of the hit as she thought, 'I thought that her strength enhanced when she makes her fist larger! Can she separate the two factors from each other?' Momo looked behind her noticing the end of the ring was coming closer as she understood her opponent's plan to win.
Kendo was about to win. Her plan was simple. It was to overwhelm the creation user, so she can't think straight as Kendo slowly pushed out of the ring. She was only meters away from achieving that only for the raven-haired girl to let a pole emerge from her abdomen and hit her directly in the chest causing her assault to stop.
Momo grabbed the pole as she said, "That was really naïve of Kendo. To think such a simple strategy would work on me." Even though the girl was saying it out loud, she was in shock that this strategy almost worked on her. She needed more training in her spatial awareness. She then saw the big-hand user smirk as she lunged at her.
Momo replied by lifting her shield to defend her face, but the girl had other plans. She kicked Momo's legs causing her to fall to the ground. Momo quickly rolled away as she heard Mic say, "Look at this fierce battle between these two girls. It's scary if you ask me."
Eraser then replied saying, "Enough stupidity, and let the girls focus on the fight. Both are doing their best to win."
Momo stood up as Kendo went for her. The martial artist threw a punch that caused Momo's shield to be dented. she then enlarged her fist as she yanked the pole away. She went to grab Momo with her enlarged fist only for said girl to create a stun gun and swung it toward Itsuka who barely dodged it before being electrocuted.
Kendo with the pole still in her hand smacked the weapon away from Momo's hand and launched a punch that met the girl's stomach. Momo doubled over but didn't have time to think as Kendo gave her a sidekick, sending her near the edge of the ring. Momo knew that if she lost her concertation it will be the end. She then stood up as Kendo closed on her and activated her quirk as she caught the creation user in her giant fist, "It's over Yaomomo."
Momo then quickly activated her quirk sending a thick iron pole flying from her leg to Kendo's abdomen making the girl drop her. She grabbed the pole and ran toward Kendo, but the orange-haired girl replied by grabbing the black-haired girl's hand.
Suddenly Kendo felt something wrap around her hand. Momo then head-butted her causing her to back away for a moment. Kendo rubbed her as she looked down at her hand only to see a cuff of some sort.
Kendo tried to activate her quirk to break the cuff only to see it didn't work. She then was hit by a new pole made by Momo at her side. She clicked her tongue at the temporary distraction. She tried again to activate her quirk only to gain the same result. It then clicked, this was no ordinary cuff; it was a quirk-canceling one.
Momo then walked away from her. this caused Kendo to raise an eyebrow as to why her opponent just retreated, but she wasn't to waste time. Quirk or no quirk. She was no pushover, and she won't be one now. She halted in her steps trying to cover her eyes when Momo's body was covered by a huge glow. When the glow went away, Kendo's eyes were wide open as she saw Momo with a cannon beside her.
Momo smiled at Kendo as she set her cannon toward the girl. She then fired it causing the cannon to release a huge net toward Kendo who replied by jumping to the side and grabbing the net, but this was all Momo wanted.
Kendo managed to jump to the side and grab the net, but when she did the net felt sticky. Try as she may, she couldn't just remove her hands from it. Suddenly everything felt lighter, she began to sway back and forth as she fell to the ground. The last thing she saw before succumbing to sleep was Momo wearing a gas mask, 'Quirk canceling cuffs, a sticky net, and sleeping gas. Well played Yaoyorozu.' The girl went to sleep, a smile on her face knowing at least she tried.
Midnight, seeing that Kendo was not moving, announced, "Winner of the second fight, Momo Yaoyorozu." Momo walked up to Kendo as she made a solution that dissolved the stickiness present on the net, a key for the cuff, and some salts woke up Kendo.
Kendo looked up to Momo, as she said, "I lost, didn't I." Yaoyorozu blushed as she said, "Yeah, but I have to admit, if you didn't catch the net to use it against me, my plan to knock you out with sleeping gas wouldn't have worked." The two girls then shook hands as Midnight was smiling at the show of sportsmanship.
The two girls walked to the tunnel, and they both went to Recovery Girl to check on them and see if they have any injuries that needed to be attended to.
In 1-B's booth, Izuku and his classmates frowned at Kendo's loss. Sure, they knew that there is a chance for her to lose, but it annoyed them. It didn't help that Monoma from class 1-A was rubbing it in their face. Right now, they were all questioning his state of mind; he was extremely weird. Mina said to them that he might have rabies much to the boy's objection
Izuku looked around, and noticed that Kendo hasn't arrived yet, while he heard Momo arrive seconds ago, "Guys, isn't it weird that Kendo hasn't arrived yet?"
Tokage shrugged as she said, "She must be at Recovery Girl. God knows what kind of stuff might have happened to her from Yaomomo's sleeping gas." The girl was quickly reprimanded by Ibara, but Izuku couldn't shake the feeling that something else was going on.
Tetsu was pumped for his match. it was about to start in a few minutes. When he exited the waiting room, he walked for a bit, before he heard some sniffling around the corner. He looked only to see Itsuka crouched in a ball form near a wall as she cried a little. He came near and said, "Kendo, are you alright?"
The girl clearly startled yelped, "Tetsu?! Shouldn't your match begin now? What are you doing here?" The girl asked, but Tetsu can see that she was trying to change the subject, but he wasn't buying it.
The boy boldly asked her, "Kendo, what's wrong? Why are you crying? Is it because you lost to Yaoyorozu? I mean it sucks, but you can always beat her the next time." The girl opened her mouth to counter, but the boy added, "And don't deny it! The tears say otherwise."
The girl sighed before saying, "It's not the fight. It's just…" She then handed him her phone as she said, "It's better that you read yourself." The boy looked at her phone and began to read, and it didn't take a rocket scientist to come to the conclusion that was being harassed through social media.
On her Facebook account, the girl had multiple people messaging her telling her to drop from the U.A. hero course because her quirk isn't strong enough to stand up to others with awesome abilities, while others were just harassing her about the way she acted during the fight by calling her unfeminine.
Kendo looked at the boy, "I know that they aren't worth much, and they won't change my resolve, but it still hurts when people question my skills or femininity just because I have different interests." Unknown to her friends, Itsuka was extremely self-conscious when it came to her quirk, skills, interests, and appearance. People always compared her to a tomboy though she doesn't let it appear, it hurts very much when people say that no one will be interested in her due to her behavior or quirk, "You must think that…"
She was cut off when the boy hugged her and said, "They're wrong." The girl looked at him confused as he said, "Look, I know my words won't mean much, but you're great the way you are Kendo. So what if your quirk isn't feminine enough? What if you act like a tomboy? What if you have different interests? That doesn't make you any less awesome than you already are, it makes you even more awesome. Do you know why because you're Kendo, the future hero, so throw these thoughts from your head, or I'll kick your ass for thinking like that." he then coughed a little as he said in a very quiet voice but the girl heard him regardless, "Plus, I think you look really beautiful."
The girl felt happy after the pep talk from her friend, but a blush erupted on her face from the hug and the compliments as she said, "Thanks Tetsu, that's really nice of you." She looked at her phone and said, "But I think you should go, your match started a minute ago."
The boy bolted quickly and ran to reach the match before he was disqualified. As he went away, Kendo found herself smiling as she thought about what Tetsu did. She then shook her head as she asked her why she cared in the first place about what they had to say. Tetsu was right; she's a future pro hero. She can't let a couple of jerks who can't face her put her down. The girl stood up and went to her class with a smile on her face alongside a blush from when Tetsu called her beautiful. 'Things just became more interesting!'
Kendo arrived just in time to see that Tetsu arrived at the ring as her friends swarmed her to make sure she was alright. She told them that she was sitting at Recovery Girl's office.
Present Mic then began his presentation, "On one side, we have a manly spirit with a heart of rock to back it up, he's the ultimate shield and spear; give it up to Ejiro Kirishima. And on the other side, we also have a manly spirit with a heart of steel to back it up, he's the ultimate shield and weapon, Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu." Both boys groaned at their similar introduction.
Midnight told them the rules as she announced the beginning of the match, but unlike the other two where it was exciting; this one was a little bit more monotone. Both boys were equally matched. They both slugged each other, but couldn't get an edge above the other one.
In 1-B's booth, Tokage asked, "Hey greenie, who's going to win?"
The boy scratched his head as he said, "I don't know. They seem equally matched. At this point, it seems that it's the battle of who can last the longest." Everyone nodded at his words, but one of them then said, "No, Tetsu will win."
Everyone looked at Kendo who said, "I know he will. The guy's too stubborn to go down without a fight. He won't lose. I know he won't." everyone smiled at their rep's words as they began to cheer while Setsuna smirked.
Back in the field, Tetsu was feeling tired. He had to give it to his counterpart; he was tough, but Tetsu was tougher. The boy yelled, "Alright, kids glove off. Time to try the new trick."
The boy smashed his head against Kirishima who backed away. Tetsu then forced his quirk to work, but something happened to him; his steel became shiner and smoother. Tetsu then yelled, "Titanium Tetsu."
Kirishima at this point recovered and went to punch the boy in his chest only for his hardened arm to crack. He yelled going back feeling his hardening recede. He looked only to see Tetsu in front of him. The boy punched him in the gut followed by a punch to the chest in his new form. He finished it off with a punch to the face knocking the boy out as Midnight announced Tetsu's victory.
Back in the waiting rooms, Shoto heard that the third match was finished. He got out of his room and walked down the hallway leading to the stadium only to come face to face with his worst enemy. The boy snarled as he said, "What the hell do you want from me?"
In front of Shoto stood a massive man. The man in front of him had a blue suit with fire lines going through it. On his face, he had fire coursing where his beard should be. This was Endeavor; the number two hero who simply said, "Shoto"
Author's notes:
Hello guys, and welcome back to a new chapter of my story, in this chapter we saw the beginning of the fights, Shoto talked to Izuku, Izuku vs Shinso, Momo vs Itsuka, and Tetsu vs Kiri. If some of you asked, why I didn't mention the last fight, but only its end cause let's be honest, it's boring, and there's no room for creative writing. We also saw a moment between Itsuka and Tetsu. In the next chapter, we will see the 5 next fights and perhaps check on the league.
As always please take care of yourselves, put a review informing me of your opinion on the chapter, and tell me how you think the story can be better.
And finally, I hope you all enjoy reading my work, and see you next time with a brand new chapter
