42. The Conclusion

The Conclusion

"Well, things didn't quite end up in the direction that I expected. But, at least we ended the battle here."

Claire stated as she stared around the battlefield as the entire battle ended.

Inside the barrier produced by Kunou, all the people from the opposite side were defeated as Claire and Alice were standing over a downed Jason. There was also Riser, Yubelluna, Siris, and Xuelan, who was watching on as the four kept thinking about the entire battle. Two women much younger than themselves, a half-breed and human, both of whom Riser and Yubelluna would be looking down on were handled the entire situation.

Both of them even seemed almost untouchable to the High-Class Devil and his Queen.

"I didn't think that I'd run into this kind of trouble."

Jason commented without showing much reason for his defeat.

"And I didn't think that you of all people would be able to remain this calm. The last time that we met, you ranted and started raving after being defeated."

Claire said as she produced chains using her demonic power, meant to wrap up the disabled Jason.

"Well, I see that you've developed quite the sharp tongue. All that time ago, you were simply a naive little girl that followed around Kensei," Jason commented without Claire showing the slightest reaction to that. "I do think that a lot of you went through a change since ten years ago. I spent all the time since the Hagun Island Rebellion hating and cursing all of you for ruining the Gehenna Tournament. But, in four years our Benefactor showed all of us the correct path in getting what we wanted."

"And that's revenge against us for fighting back. I doubt that anyone of you has the right to say that. Did all of you think that we would continue being under your thumb for the rest of our lives?"

Alice brought up as Claire had the chains wrap around Jason as tight as possible, then adding her 'Worthless' on top of it, removing all means of countering.

"Maybe, but that's all the motivation that we need to continue fighting against you people."

Jason said without much emotion in his tone.

"Your fight ends here, Jason. I think we'll have to come up with a special place to put you."

Claire said as ensured Jason couldn't escape, but he still didn't look concerned at all.

"What this? Even if he has changed since then, he shouldn't be this calm right now, and he doesn't look worried that we're going to capture him. His battle should be over, but he doesn't look worried at all. Did Jason undergo a kind of mental conditioning to act like this even in defeat?"

Claire tried wrapping her head around the fact that Jason was acting calm almost emotionless in the face of his defeat. And it made her all the more curious about the kind of conditioning Jason underwent after whoever the Benefactor was too controlled.

She was preparing to transport him elsewhere, but something caught her attention.

A shadow started expanding underneath Jason, causing her to move backward with Alice in her grasp knowing it would be impossible for the blonde to react as fast. It wasn't a simple expansion, the shadow looked to become much larger to the point where it seemed to cover almost the entire battlefield.

"This is," Claire said surprised about this, before noticing that something that comes out from the shadows, and a feeling entered her head. "Get off the ground everyone!"

Claire's exclamation caused all the people around her to enter the air using whatever method possible, whether it was using magic or wings. She was holding onto Alice as she floated into the air using her devil wings. As they remained suspended in the air, everyone there could see something coming from the shadow. Coming from the shadows were a series of what looked to be tree roots, wrapping around all the downed soldiers and Jason.

"What the hell is this?"

Riser uttered as he looked around seeing an innumerable amount of roots dragging all the soldiers inside of the shadows.

But, coming out from the shadows near Jason was a young man the same age as him and even resembled him a great deal. The main difference was the fact that his hair was much longer, extending toward his back, and being red instead of blonde like his.

"It appears as if you ran into some trouble on your end, Jason."

The young man spoke to Jason as he turned his attention toward him.

"Well, it was within the realm of possibilities."

Jason replied with a good deal of familiarity with the young man.

"It's not that you're weak. It's just that Kensei was just that strong," the red-haired man then looked up straight at Claire and Alice, who looked back at him. "And I see that the two who followed him the most grew up too."

"Wait, is that…?"

Claire stared straight at the young man as she narrowed her eyes.

"Yes, that's Jason's twin brother, Mason," Alice said, recognizing the young man who poisoned her all that time ago. "But, this presence from him feels odd."

"To think that you two would remember me. I didn't think you'd focus on anyone else aside from that brat, Kensei. As much as I would love to continue this reunion, I think that I should be taking my brother and soldiers back."

Mason stated as he already returned the soldiers, then started seeping inside of the shadow himself, intending to escape from this situation.

"I'm not letting that happen," Riser declared as he summoned his flames around him, causing the members of his peerage to move aside from the intense heat. "I'm not letting the person who hurt my little sister leave without me at least scorching him!"

Riser unleashed a wide wave of flames at Jason and also Mason, neither of which looked to be worried about the attack at all.

"I can understand caring about your siblings. I do, but because of that I'm not letting that happen."

A single gesture from Mason's finger caused tree roots and soon enough a tree to manifest in front of him and act as a barrier. Riser didn't seem worried as flames had the natural advantage against wood and trees, so he at least thought he could burn Jason. Claire and Alice didn't appear as hopeful, considering that compared to his older brother, Mason was more cautious and wouldn't fight a losing battle.

As expected, it didn't do as expected as the flames seemed to be stopped by it instead of the flames burning it.

"What?!"

Riser looked surprised as the tree stopped his flames and even seemed to absorb them as his flames vanished.

"You do know that there are some trees that are resistant to flames, and I can create unique trees and plants by using my Arbor Field. You see, I've gone through some growth since then too," Mason replied without sounding arrogant, but that stirred aggression within Riser based on the tone alone. "So, I think that I'll be leaving with you all with a little surprise. But, next time, I would like to get reacquainted with you all."

Mason soon faded inside of the shadow beneath him.

However, the tree he produced remained there despite him leaving, and the roots started planting themselves in the ground around it. It didn't take long as the three seemed to grow much faster than any kind of normal one, as purple flowers started appearing on the tree.

"Since this is Mason, then there's a chance that tree's flowers are all poisonous."

Alice pointed out, recalling Mason's preferred fighting method.

"I doubt that it's going to be compared to the last time we fought against him. And this tree is even resistant to fire attacks, and the amount of time that it took to manifest is insane. I could cut it down using…."

[I'll handle this one, Claire-san.]

"Kunou-san?"

Claire was surprised to hear Kunou talking to her like this, but was surprised as the barrier around them started to shift and close in. It passed through the people inside the barrier instead of pushing them forward, then placed itself around the entire tree's radius. And it even extended underneath the tree where its roots were located, thus severing its connection to the earth underneath.

[Kunou thought she sensed that the tree was absorbing the ki from the surrounding area through its roots, which is the reason that it was growing that last. I'll send it off to another space until Ken-chan comes back. Oh, Claire-san one more thing.]

"What?"

[You're welcome.]

Those were the last words Kunou said before causing the tree to vanish to another space.

"Cheeky little fox," Claire replied shaking her head, almost laughing at Kunou's comment. "Well, let's head back, and inform the others about the situation. It would be best if we handle any kind of stragglers left behind inside of the castle. But, considering that we haven't received anything from Kunou, things might've been settled. After Kensei arrives, then everything will be settled."

"Where did he go anyway?"

"You're sister got kidnapped and Kensei went to rescue her."

"What?!"

Hearing that, Riser started heading off in the same direction that Kensei went, knowing that would be the easiest way to find her. As soon as he tried flying off at high speed, Claire created chains from demonic power, wrapping them around him.

"We're going back to the castle."

"I'm not leaving here until I go and get my sister!"

Riser declared as he tried breaking free from the chains, but they proved far too strong for him to attempt doing anything to break them.

"Kensei is going to break Ravel-san back to the castle once he kills that monster. I know you're worried about her and want to go, but your best chance in getting her back is letting Kensei do it."

"…."

Riser clenched his teeth from frustration.

"You might not like the fact you need to rely on a human to rescue your sister, but that's the situation here. And it shouldn't matter who rescues Ravel as long as she's safe," Alice spoke, using her own experiences as she treated Claire as if she was her real little sister. "If you're still worried, then don't be. If Kensei fights to protect someone, he'll be fighting as hard as possible to save them."

Seeing that Riser showed no more resistance, Claire freed Riser from the chains binding him.

After that, all of them decided to return to the castle, and await for Kensei to return with Ravel, who was taken by the creature named Hakki.

On that battlefield, Kensei sent Hakki backward using a strong forward kick, but it seemed to maneuver around well enough as it fixed its posture. It was using a combination of its remaining leg and jets to recover efficiently. Ravel was remaining on the sidelines watching on to see if there would be anything that she could do to assist him.

It fixed its posture, then charged forward at Kensei by using its aura propulsion, and continue making attempts at slashing him using its claws. Each attempted assault was avoided or blocked using Kurogane, which remained at his hip. As Kensei was preparing to aim at a slash at him, Hakki propelled itself up using its propulsion to avoid it, but he soon chased it into the air.

Kensei leaped high into the air, almost catching up with Hakki, but was a couple of inches off as the creature pushed itself forward by ejecting aura. But, Kensei didn't let it escape from him, as he focused ki at the soles of his feet, then kicked off the air.

The second variation of Shinsoku, Tenpo, lets him kick off the air, making it possible to move around even in the air. After catching up with Hakki, Kensei made a strong slash at it, hitting its back, causing a pained growl from it. Hakki turned around then propelled itself to increase its speed and aimed a strong vertical kick towards the airborne Kensei.

Kensei found himself blocking it with his forearm but felt the weight behind that kick from the build-up momentum using its propulsion.

"Good kick! But, I can kick too!"

Kensei declared as he moved back and aimed a high kick, back at Hakki, striking it in its cheek, which sent it back a good distance. After kicking Hakki backward, Kensei propelled himself forward towards it using Tenpo, while holding Kurogane forward.

"Tsukisasu!"

Kensei exclaimed as he aimed a strong thrust at Hakki, who caught and redirected the blade, but the attack itself still penetrated its abdomen. Seeing that sparked some suspension from Kensei, witnessing it catching Kurogane and moving it from its initial target.

"I aimed that last Tsukisasu directly at its chest, but it moved it aside penetrating its stomach rather than its chest, and still took the hit. It's as if it's more worried about me hitting its chest rather than anything else."

Kensei thought but could continue thinking of strategies as it continued attacking him.

Hakki aimed a kick at Kensei, then continued unleashing a relentless barrage of attacks directed at him. Just like before, he either avoided it or clashed against it using Kurogane.

Kensei wasn't able to think that well in the heat of battle against Hakki, who was attacking him more with intent to kill him while using far more honed movements. However, that didn't mean that Ravel's brain wasn't working on a solution to the situation.

"I'm sure Ken-sama has revealed that it moved his sword to the side after he intended to pierce its chest. Could it be a weak point that he could exploit? Or could it be a trap for him to think that? I know that the Benefactor could speak through him, but I doubt that it's possible to control it from where ever he is now. If it is a weak point, then it would be beneficial for us. There isn't much that we know about it to assume anything that we think. So, all we're able to do is use our observation."

Ravel kept thinking about a solution to assist Kensei as she kept her attention on the battle at hand.

She could see that Kensei was aiming multiple strikes at Hakki using Kurogane, most notable some were focused on the same while using legs as a means of getting it off guard. Based on what she could tell, Kensei held a similar idea about its weak point and tried testing it out.

"I have to try something."

Ravel said to herself knowing that it was dangerous, but she needed to do something to help and defeat it. And it even harmed her mother to get her to surrender.

Taking a deep breath, Ravel placed her hand upright at Kensei and Hakki, her intended target was the latter. As flames gathered around her hands, she formed a miniature fireball in her hands. Firing off a wide-spread blast of flames would be slower, but this would be faster.

She realized attacking with emotions wouldn't do anything, so she focused all her attention as Kensei and Hakki continued their airborne battle. It would be hard for her to hit it as Hakki was moving at that speed, and it would attract Hakki's attention making this fireball, making it easier for it to avoid the fireball. But, the same thing would be said about Kensei.

"Ah, Ravel, you're both smart and brave too."

Kensei smirked, already know Ravel's intentions, and realized that Hakki would avoid it.

After Hakki made another attempt at piercing Kensei by using its claws, he caught its wrist before it could do that, then hurled it in another direction. Hakki utilized its propulsion to stop itself in the air, but it found itself stuck in place. And it was all caused by Kensei using telekinesis to keep it suspended in the same place, and tried to force itself free using its aura propulsion.

However, because the more power Kensei poured into it, Hakki was incapable of moving around as he desires in that instance.

"Well, let it rip, Ravel!"

Kensei declared as Ravel did just that.

"Hah!"

Ravel revealed the compressed fireball at Hakki, which had come in contact with the creature's chest resulting in a fiery explosion. She breathed a bit due to the amount of power she focused on that last blast, but it looked to have done some damage to Hakki.

Crack! Crack! Crack!

[Ah…ah….]

Hakki started groaning as its black exoskeleton started crumbling apart, and had notable burns as something was revealed underneath it. It was revealed to be a black gem of some kind underneath its exoskeleton, then Hakki began acting irregularly and moving around to match it as if it was starting to lose control of itself.

[Ah…ahhh…raaaaaaaaaaaaah!]

A deep dark aura started radiating from around Hakki's entire body, releasing an oppressing sensation that even Kensei felt almost unnerved about.

[Well, great, you always seem to ruin things somehow. You know creating Hakki and the others isn't as simple as you might think. There are the certain materials needed and all the time that it takes turning them into their current state, which took a year to prepare one.]

The Benefactor was again speaking through Hakki as it continued losing control of itself, as he let a sigh escape from his mouth based on what he could hear.

"What happened to it?"

Kensei asked, almost out of instinct.

[I'm not going to explain it in detail since that'll give you a hint about them. But, all I'll say is that you released the limiter that I placed on them for this reason. Hakki here was one of the more complete models, and now I need to think of something else for the others.]

[…raaaaaah!]

Hakki started letting out more of a monstrous roar as the dark aura around it started, wrapping around its body.

[And now look at what you and the Ravel here did to Hakki. Now the poor soul is suffering because the limit was broken.]

"What do you mean poor soul?"

Ravel asked, realizing that it almost sounds as if the Benefactor let that slip on purpose.

[Well, that's the last thing that I'll be saying on the matter. I don't know what's going to happen, but I know that it'll give me some important data. So, fight as hard as possible you two.]

The Benefactor replied, but not in the manner Ravel wanted him to.

As Hakki continued reacting irregularly, the dark aura around him, completely wrapped around him and started to take form as something. Once things settled, Hakki landed on the ground taking on a completely different shape compared to before. Standing in front of them, it took on a much more armored state and looked more demonic than it did before, even regenerating its leg.

"Well, that's something."

Kensei said as he started descending to the ground, noticing that the aura around Hakki was stronger than it was previously.

[…take…the…girl!]

Hakki shouted as he unleashed aura from the now more defined rockets, propelling himself forward at a far higher speed compared to before. And his intended target was Ravel who could barely keep up with what was happening, as a result of the speed that Hakki was moving.

Seeing that, Kensei used a full-powered Tenpo, which propelled himself forward, making a beeline straight for Ravel. He landed right in front of her just as Hakki arrived too aiming both clawed hands towards her. But, Kensei stopped him from moving by locking hands with Hakki.

"Ngggh, he's even stronger than before! And it can even talk now!"

Kensei could feel Hakki's newfound strength as it continued pushing forward, but he was kept pushing back and dug his back foot into the ground. It was pushing back Kensei, channeling a more dark aura around itself to get to Ravel. In response to this, Kensei started channeling his ki, releasing an aura around himself, and began pushing back against Hakki.

"Ken-sama…?"

Ravel asked worriedly.

"Don't worry, Ravel, I got this," Kensei replied smirking. "You might want to move aside a little bit."

Not wasting him, Ravel move aside a good distance from Kensei and watched on as he was waiting to see what would happen.

"Fuuu."

Kensei breathed outwards.

He lessened his strength and grip on Hakki as if he was surrendering, resulting in the creature pushing him back a good distance. Kensei used that momentum to lift Hakki into the air, then sent a pulse of ki throughout its entire body. It resulted in Hakki being momentarily stunned as it was suspended in the air behind Kensei as he let go of its clawed hands. Using fluid motions, he turned around holding his fingers in a three-fingered claw fashion as a good amount of water started appearing around his hands, focused around his fingers.

"Tougen Amagiri-ryuu: Ryuusou, Mizuryuu Akugeki!"

Kensei thrust his water-coated fingers into the Hakki's chest, penetrating its exoskeleton and digging them inside of it. As Kensei's fingers were dug into the creature, he started releasing an abundance of water from his fingers, pressurizing and shaping them into claws, which turned into a turret of water blasting it backward. It blasted the empowered Hakki backward, sending it through multiple trees.

"Wow!"

Ravel was surprised after seeing that occur right in front of her.

Kensei stared into his hand and could see there were fragments of Hakki's exoskeleton in his hands, which soon vanished as a dark aura. But, before fading, it felt as if it was attempting to corrupt his aura.

"This is…."

"Ken-sama that was amazing!"

Ravel rushed in front of him sounding impressed about what she was seeing at this moment.

"Well, I do fight to impress sometimes in front of an audience."

Kensei said smiling as he placed a hand on top of her head, causing her to smile and blush at the contact.

But, Kensei was aware that it wasn't over, and could sense that Hakki was coming back after that attack. He was able to sense that it was overexerting itself based on the dark aura spewing out of it. And it could have been as a result of that limit being removed, but Kensei could sense something weird about it. He couldn't shake the feeling that it or something else was being tormented by as it continued fighting against him.

Hakki was standing back up as more aura was being released from its back, then started propelling itself forward at Kensei and Ravel. It was a slow start, but it was picking up more and more as time passed.

"Ravel, do you want to get your payback?"

"Huh, of course."

Ravel was confused about that question, at first, but there was no doubt that she wanted to get back at the ones who did this to herself and her clan.

"Then, I'm going to need your assistance in this one," Kensei said before holding Kurogane up right in front of her, while she stood in the same position. "Place your hand underneath mine, then channel your flames into Kurogane."

"Alright!"

Ravel replied strongly, believing in whatever Kensei had in mind.

She placed her hands underneath his hand, then started focusing her clan's flames around Kurogane careful not to burn Kensei in the process. At that moment, he started focusing on the absorption properties of Kurogane and started absorbing her intense flames. Kurogane later started turning the same color as the Phenex's flames, then released the same scorching temperature.

"Whoa, it can even absorb the Phenex Clan's flames and use it."

Ravel was surprised about what she was seeing right now, not hearing about a weapon that could do that.

"This is your flame, Ravel and this is going to be the thing that takes this creature down."

Kensei declared, pointing Kurogane right at the approaching Hakki, and Ravel could sense the genuine feelings behind that declaration.

"Ravel, do you remember the time I said I challenged Souji-san to a fight to learn from a legendary samurai?"

"Yes, I remember that was during our date…I mean, tour."

Ravel was embarrassed after referring to their tour as a date, but Kensei smiled and looked forward as he started to get into position.

"Well, aside from the bruises from the fight. I did learn from that experience," Kensei said before breathing out in a calming manner. "And I took at least one thing from that fight."

"Huh."

Kensei rethought the fight against Souji Okita in his mind and recalled that in terms of speed and technique the samurai outclassed in all regards. Even if the two were using wooden swords, he did get a lot of bruises in that battle. But, there was one instance where Souji intentionally slowed down a bit before defeating him using the one technique the samurai was famous for.

"Tougen Amagiri-ryuu," Kensei got into position as Hakki appeared right in front of him and Ravel. "Sandanzuki."

Once Hakki appeared in front of him, then that one slash from Kensei turned into three slashes, and the creature was split into three sections. From Ravel's flames, which were added onto Kurogane, Hakki started burning up in the aftermath of the attack. It started turning to ashes from the flames burning it up, then it started breaking apart from the intense strain.

However, despite all that, Hakki managed to extend out its hand as if it was being controlled by the sole mission it was given. All its strength and aura looked to have been focused on its arm as the same kind of propulsion jets appeared on its arm. And it was propelled at high-speed toward Ravel, but Kensei already moved in to move her aside after grabbing a hold of her waist.

Its clawed hand passed by Ravel's head, cutting her cheek a bit, and cutting off strands of her hair as its arm was propelled forward.

"Ravel, are you alright?"

Kensei asked concerned.

"Yes, it's just a simple cut. It's already healed."

Ravel said as the wound on her cheek healed almost as soon as the wound was dealt.

Both Kensei and Ravel turned to Hakki, the creature that caused so much trouble, and was now crumbling apart right in front of them. There was still something weird Kensei felt from the creature as soon as whatever kind of limiter was removed from it. But, he thought that he'd get whatever answer was ahead of him after encountering whoever the Benefactor was.

[….]

"Hmm, I think that it's going to do something else."

Ravel commented as she could hear something from Hakki, but thought that it was the Benefactor attempting to speak to them again. But, Kensei looked on as the creature in front of him was putting its strength into one final thing.

[…th…ank…you…se….]

"…what?"

Kensei was surprised as the creature that had attacked him, Ravel, Sairaorg, and Kuisha like some kind of rabid animal thanked him after killing it. And it was the last thing that it did before crumbling to dust without a trace that it was there in the first place.

"Ken-sama, that creature thanked you."

Even Ravel couldn't hide her surprise about Hakki thanking him.

"Yea, I heard that. I never thought that I'd hear another creature that had previously tried killing me, thank me," a surprised and complex look could be seen on Kensei's face as he sheathed Kurogane. "It makes me worried of what the Benefactor meant about materials and pour soul, which that guy had intentionally let slip. It makes me think something I don't want to consider at all."

"I understand, Ken-sama. I thought about it too after hearing about what the Benefactor mentioned and it made me realize something terrible," Ravel said, the answer and realization of that caused her to look almost sad. "Do you think that Hakki creature used to be a person?"

Hearing that question caused Kensei to think about all of the things that he found odd about Hakki for the first time. It was different from other creatures he's ever heard of. It adapted and learned, shifting into a fighting style after confronting him and Sairaorg. And it even spoke before it died. So, all of the evidence in front of them right now is telling them that their hunch was correct.

"Yea, that could be the thing."

Kensei replied.

"There's someone out there able to turn humans or people into creatures like that. Is that even possible?"

"Yea, I mean as children we learn about legends were humans filled with great malice turns into oni after death. Even truly evil people can turn into one in life with the right conditions. But, it looks as if this Benefactor is turning people into complete monsters for whatever reason. I don't know, I need to tell everyone back at our base about this because even those odd crystals those people from Hikage felt the same. Well, at least we're certain about one thing at least."

"And what's that, Ken-sama?"

Ravel curiously asked, turning and staring at him.

"That we won this fight. And you're an awesome strategist. You were the MVP here."

Kensei replied impressed about all the things that Ravel has done despite the situation, being poisoned and also feeling fear about her fate. Despite that, she pressed forward to find the best solutions in solving this situation, as well as surpassing all expectations.

"I see. Thank you, Ken-sama," Ravel replied smiling, and blushing at the praise she was receiving, but then she turned to her tsundere side. "Of course, it was expecting that I would succeed in getting my payback against the people who dared challenge the Phenex Clan."

"You're smart and a tsundere. Keep acting like that, then I might try and snatch you from your brother."

Kensei teased smiling at Ravel, whose face turned bright red after hearing he'd attempt to 'snatch' her from Riser.

"W-Well, we should return to the castle and explain the situation here."

Ravel replied as casually as possible.

"Alright."

Kensei stomped on the ground twice, causing the wyvern that Alice created to come out from his shadow. It then kneeled in front of Kensei, lowering its head so that he could jump on top of it. He held out his hand toward Ravel, who took it as he lead her on top of the wyvern. After receiving the single, the wyvern took off, then began heading in the direction of the Phenex Clan's castle, where its master and creator were.

Unlike before, it wasn't a fast flight, instead of being a far more leisurely one, with Kensei and Ravel sitting down on top of the wyvern. Both could feel the gentle breeze brushing past them while looking at the purple sky before them. Ravel found herself relishing in the final peaceful time she had experienced since the incident started, and more so, she was sitting beside a person she never expected she'd ever met before.

"I never thought that a human would be able to do as much as Ken-sama has done for me. He saved me more than more, he listened to my opinions on things without disregarding them, and he even allowed me to come up with all the strategies I wanted to," Ravel found herself getting closer to Kensei, who was standing there looking forward at the skies. She could see his hand close to him and was tempted to place hers on top of his, but she held back. "I haven't known him for long, but it's almost as if he's the hero that I wanted to meet all that time ago."

Ravel had the brightest smile on her face possible as she was staring at Kensei, who was looking forward. And a sudden feeling of mental exhaustion started hitting her in that instance, causing Ravel to move up and learn her head on his arm. He looked down towards Ravel after feeling her head on his arm, but he didn't question it at all, realizing the events must've exhausted her.

"Ken-sama, do you mind if I…?"

"It's no problem, you deserve a rest after all this."

Kensei replied, knowing what she was going to ask.

Ravel did that as she rested her head on his arm, loving the peaceful scenery and atmosphere around them.

It didn't take long for them to arrive at the Phenex Clan castle, landing in front of the entrance as the wyvern went inside of his shadow. There was no one standing guard there, because of the situation, and so it was simple for them to enter the castle. Both looked around and could see that there wasn't much damage done inside, which meant the fighters managed to contain the destruction.

"Ravel! I'm so glad to see that you're alright!"

The moment that the two found themselves in the main living room, Ravel was immediately hugged by her mom who had tears in her eyes.

"Okaa-sama."

Ravel gave a faint smile, feeling the warmth and emotions from her mother's hug.

Seeing that caused a smile to appear on the faces of Ravel's father and three older brothers, the patriarch even approached Kensei wearing a smile on his face.

"Kensei-san, there are no words that can express the gratitude that I feel in this moment. If it wasn't for you and your friends, then there's a high chance that I might have lost my youngest child," Lord Phenex bowed his head in front of Kensei, showing himself more as a father than a pure-blood devil. "And for that, I, as well as the other members of the Phenex Clan will forever be in your debt."

Finishing bowing his head, Lord Phenex held his hand forward, showing that he wanted to shake Kensei's hand.

"Well, it'd be disrespectful if I didn't accept the gesture."

Kensei smiled and shook Lord Phenex's hand, then both the first and second oldest sons smiled and bowed their heads too.

"We truly appreciate all the things you've done for Ravel."

"If there's anything that you'd need in the future, then don't be afraid to ask."

Both Ruval and the second son showed their gratitude for Kensei rescuing their younger sister.

"Riser…."

"…show your gratitude too."

""She's your sister and a member of your peerage.""

Both Ruval and the second son forced Riser to bow his head causing an embarrassed look to appear on the third son's face.

"I-I already planned on doing that, and didn't need any assistance in doing it."

Riser replied flustered about what was happening.

"I don't know. I don't think that the prideful Phenex would lower his head to a 'lowly human'."

Kensei stated, keeping himself from laughing at that moment, but the desire started building up within him to the point where it would explode.

"You're just enjoying this aren't you?!"

Riser declared, glaring at Kensei with intense eyes.

There was a light-hearted atmosphere around them despite the situation that had occurred moments ago, which was something most would've expected.

"Ken-chan!"

Kunou called out, as the Phenex Clan members were finished thanking Kensei and glomped him.

"Ah, Kunou. I think that the Kyoto Princess should act more respectfully."

"I doubt that this cheeky little fox here would do that."

After Kunou, Claire and Alice also walked up as the Kyuubi was rubbing her cheeks against Kensei.

"Kunou isn't a cheeky little fox. And Kunou does present herself as a decent princess."

Kunou tried defending herself.

"Yes, Kunou isn't a Cheeky Little Fox," Kensei said, causing Kunou to smile with pride as her ears started happily twitching. "If anything, Kunou here is a Cheeky Kyuubi."

"Ken-chan?!"

Kunou stared at Kensei pouting, who agreed with Claire about Kunou being cheeky.

"Come on, Kunou. I'm just teasing."

Kensei placed his hand on top of Kunou's head, his fingers brushing her ears as the Kyuubi shivered pleasantly, as a result of the contact.

"Yes, Kunou realizes that, but it's still mean," Kunou said before looking at him. "Also, Ken-chan, there was some person here who tried summoning a poisonous tree, but Kunou sealed it in another space until you came back to deal with it."

"A poisonous tree?"

"Yes, it seems as if Mason came to save his brother and the other soldiers," Claire revealed, approaching him as a distasteful look appeared on Kensei's face after hearing that. "He used the same shadow technique that Jason had used to transport himself and his soldiers here and back. I couldn't even break down the technique they were using to move around."

"Is that so? Well, there's not much that we know about this organization the Benefactor started using those from Hagun Island. And all the things that their group is preparing in terms of equipment and techniques, even Hakki and creatures like it is something that's still a complete unknown to us."

"At least, in regards to Hakki, we realize what its origin could be."

Ravel added right after Kensei.

"There's a lot that we still need to do in regards to the incident's aftermath, but I'll be handling that tree. Kunou I don't know what's going to happen if it's returned here, so send me to the space where the tree is sealed so I can take care of it. Mason is someone who would use a dangerous poison."

"Kay, Ken-chan!"

Kunou said as she stood in front of Kensei, then formed a seal using her fingers.

Seconds later, Kensei was transported inside the same space, where Kunou sealed that poisonous tree inside without hesitation.

"Uh, are you sure it's fine leaving Ken-sama to deal with a poisonous tree?"

Ravel asked worried, knowing that even strong devils could be affected by certain poisons.

"It's fine. Kensei has a resistance to most poisons, it would take more potent and supernatural poisons to have any kind of effect on him. But, I can see the reason you're concerned, Ravel-san," Claire replied taking note of all the worries Ravel had for Kensei. "Jason was much stronger than we thought possible, and his Balance Breaker was something surprising even if it was incomplete. And the same thing could be possible for Mason, who could deflect a Phenex's flames using a tree."

"Well, we should help in dealing with all the damages done around the castle. It doesn't appear as if there wasn't much damage done, so it shouldn't take long."

"Oh, there isn't a need for you all to assist in that. We can at least handle the situation involving our own home."

Lady Phenex tried reasoning with them.

"We aren't the kind of people who'd stand on the sidelines and watch others work when we could help. I have a lot of experience in repairing things using demonic powers after situations like this."

"And I have a monster that can eat any kind of excess rubble."

"And Kunou might be a princess, but she loves helping people."

Lady Phenex stared at the three young girls standing in front of her wearing a smile on her face, taking note that a lot of them shared the same kind of genuine sincerity as Kensei.

"Well, we have to have some celebration and dinner prepared for all of you once this is all finished," the Phenex's matriarch replied maturely and kindly, which resonated with the people around her. "Let's finish up with fixing all the damages and anything else so that we can have that celebration."

[Yes, ma'am.]

Almost all the people around her replied as each of them started going about cleaning up and repairing all of the damage done. Members of Riser's peerage joined in on the clean-up, making the entire thing go faster and their additional workload made it possible to finish as Kensei finished dealing with the poisonous tree Mason created.

Soon after that was finished, as promised, Kensei found himself standing in front of the Gremory Clan's castle, a beautiful and enormous castle. Upon their arrival, the first thing that he noted was the beautiful flowers and also a magnificent-looking fountain. He wasn't alone there as Claire, Alice, Ravel, and Kunou joined in too. All of them exited from the carriage that brought them there and started heading towards the front door.

"I've never been in the Gremory Clan's castle before. And it looks as amazing as the Phenex Clan's castle."

Kensei stated, standing before the front door as two butlers opened the door for them.

"I haven't seen a genuine castle before aside from the first time I went to the Belial Clan's territory."

Claire added, having the same kind as Human World biased as Kensei and Alice.

"Well, the Phenex Clan's castle won't lose out to the Gremory's castle."

Ravel brought up, showing more of her pride in the Phenex Clan.

"Kunou prefers the mansion in Urakyoto."

Kunou added, thinking back to the feeling she'd get whenever back at home inside Urakyoto.

"We have been expecting your arrival."

A familiar voice could be heard in front of them.

It was revealed to be the beautiful silver-haired maid and Sirzechs' Queen, Grayfia Lucifuge, standing there with the true grace of a mature woman. Something that made growing women such as Claire, Ravel, and Kunou be jealous about and even strive for.

"Hello, Grayfia-san."

Kensei said, giving a proper greeting.

"A pleasure as always, Grayfia-san."

Claire bowed her head, showing the grace of someone born from a pure-blood devil.

"Hello."

Alice gave a simple reply, raising her hand and smiling.

"We're happy to hear that our arrival was permitted, Grayfia-sama."

Ravel, similar to Claire gave a respectful greeting.

"As the daughter of Yasaka, it's a pleasure to meet Lucifer's Queen."

And Kunou, replied as one would expect from a Queen's daughter.

"It's a pleasure to have you all here," Grayfia bowed her head once again, then held out her hand. "Lord Gremory and Lady Gremory are waiting for you all. So, if you would, please follow me."

After being urged by Grayfia, all five teens started following Grayfia, who was leading them in the direction where the Gremory's Patriarch and Matriarch were waiting for them.

Grayfia soon led them into a meeting room, where Lord and Lady Gremory were waiting for them to arrive. After entering the meeting room, the teens walked in to find a handsome crimson-haired blue-eyed middle-aged man, dressed in proper attire. He was the Current Gremory Clan Head, Zeoticus Gremory.

Sitting beside him was a beautiful flaxen-haired violet-eyed young woman who didn't look that much older than them, dressed in a white dress. She was the Gremory Clan matriarch, Venelana Gremory.

"Hello, it's good to see you here, Kensei-kun. And I see that you've brought your fiancées and Ravel-san too."

Zeoticus greeted them.

"Well, it's great to see you again Zeoticus-san and Venelana-san."

"Fufufu, it's good to see you again too. I believe that the last time we conversed was when Alice-san was selling us that wonderful painting of hers," Venelana stated smiling beautifully, before turning her attention over towards Claire. "And Claire-san, do you remember the conversation that we had during our teatime?"

"Yes, Venelana-san."

"Do you mean if I asked what that conversation was about?"

Kensei curiously asked, not seeming to recall Claire mentioning something like that.

"Oh, I don't mind. It wasn't meant to be a secret," Venelana replied, showing no issue at all with talking to Kensei about their conversation. "Since it looked as if Claire-san was your second-in-command, I simply said that she'd learn not to be too lenient when it came to acting like it."

"I'm sorry?"

Kensei found himself maintaining a neutral look, but on the inside, he was shuttering a bit.

"I know that Kensei-san is more respectful than most. But, I told Claire-san that she shouldn't be afraid to speak her mind and put her foot down if she feels you're making rash or irresponsible decisions. I can tell that you will be one of the people who'll achieve fame in the supernatural world, so we can't have you looking improper," Venelana explained in a gentle, but at the same time a strong tone no one could go against. "And that's why I and Grayfia talked to Claire-san. Because its Grayfia's responsibility to act as Sirzechs' handler to ensure that he doesn't make rash choices. As it is mine to manage my husband here, isn't that right, dear?"

"Y-Yes, dear."

Zeoticus replied as naturally as possible, but people could tell that he felt intimidated.

"That's good," Kensei stated, trying to look as casual as usual, but the same couldn't be said on the inside, where he was feeling concerned. "Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. That doesn't sound good, I see how scared even Sirzechs is of Grayfia-san sometimes! I already can't go against Claire sometimes, but this might end up bad."

As Kensei was almost close to having an internal panic attack, the four young girls beside him could tell that it had some effect on him. He was scared of Claire turning into someone similar to Grayfia, who's able to scare even the strongest devil.

"So, Kensei-kun, I'd like to hear about how your group's business has been going. I might have some advice that I could give as someone with a lifetime's worth of experience in regards to this," Zeoticus said, directing his hand to one of the seats. "Sirzechs will be here in a moment after dealing with some business of his own."

"Sounds good."

Kensei agreed with those words as he and the other girls took a seat on the couch.

Having taken a seat, Kensei began talking about their growing business, about their main business ventures was Minako, the famous idol, and Alice, the unknown artist. There were also other things that their group was planning on since the Kibou Alliance was steadily becoming a business conglomerate. After that, Zeoticus started giving a bit of advice about how to handle it, something that he appreciated.

"I appreciate the helpful advice Zeoticus-san. We've been receiving a lot of help from a lot of people."

"Oh, it's no problem at all. It would feel wrong if I didn't give a hand considering that I was part of the project too. I never would've gotten that the Gremory Clan would get the chance to collaborate with people from the Norse in building something like that. It was something that not even Ajuka could resist getting involved in too, and is resulted in the creation of an incredible base."

"Yea, being able to meet Ajuka-san was like a dream come true for Zane. It was because of that, he was able to come up with so many new ideas that he often zones out in class thinking about. If it wasn't for the fact that Zane could skip enough grades to graduate from college if he wanted to, then he would've failed."

"Hahaha, you and your friends are all rather unique characters."

Zeoticus was laughing after listening more to Kensei talking.

"I know right, Otou-san."

Sirzechs soon entered the room, almost hearing the last part of what his father said.

"Oh, Sirzechs have you finished your business?"

"Yes, Otou-san. I finished it without needing Grayfia to be right there beside me," Sirzechs' comment almost sounded as if he was attempting to prove that he didn't need to have Grayfia standing beside him all of the time. That comment and how proud he sounded caused his Wife/Queen to almost facepalm herself, but she held back to maintain her composure. "Those people from the Great King Faction have been attempting to place blame on the Phenex Clan for the incident."

Hearing that comment caused Ravel to give a faint gasp as she realized it must've been as a result of their little outing in Lucifaad.

"Not surprising that the Great King Faction is attempting to target them for that. Even though no one got hurt and everything else was solved again without anyone getting hurt. And the head of the faction didn't even let Sairaorg help in settling it."

Kensei spoke without hesitation, almost causing the adults in the room to laugh a bit from his honesty.

It was the first time that either of them have heard a human talk bad about the Great King Faction in front of a lot of people like this.

"Well, I worked out the situation and circumstances leading to it. But, those stubborn lots are still attempting to blame the Phenex Clan."

Sirzechs explained in his usual friendly tone.

"I'm sorry for this, Sirzechs-sama. It was our idea for me to head out into the open in an attempt to see who was coming after us. And because of that, it ended up putting the lives of others endangered, and almost caused a good friend of mine to be almost shot down by an archer. Because the incident itself was caused from all the enemy's intention was to come after me in the first place, then I…."

"Ravel," Sirzechs stopped Ravel from speaking already knowing where she was going with it. "It wasn't your fault that those people decided to go after you. And it was because of you all that no one got hurt and the damages at the Phenex Mansion were minimized to such a degree that everything was resolved without accumulating a large amount of attention. If anything, you should be rewarded for being able to do all of this using what little you knew about your foe despite your age. And that's something that I'll be working on during our next meeting. No matter what anyone from the Great King Faction says, don't doubt that you've done more than most experienced High-Class Devils."

Ravel felt proud of herself since she was being praised by the Maou, Lucifer himself and it felt all of the more real as the people around her shared the same feeling like him.

"Sirzechs-sama is right, Ravel-san. You did things that not even Kensei and I would've been able to think of with the amount of time you had to prepare."

Claire added as smiling as Kunou and Alice nodded their heads too.

"Ravel-chan did think of a lot of ways that Kunou could use her barriers and techniques."

"I could see you being a good strategist and King for your peerage in the future."

Ravel was receiving praise from Kunou and Claire who shared the same opinion as them.

"Everyone's right," Kensei said placing a hand on top of her head as she turned her head towards him. "Don't let anyone, even those from the Great King Faction take that victory from you. And if any one of them does, then I'll go and give them a piece of my mind."

"That's another reason that I'll have to work hard in convincing them," Sirzechs added, knowing full well what the person in front of him would do if Ravel was criticized by the Great King Faction. However, that was among all of the things that he respected about Kensei. "So, don't concern yourself about things between the new Maou and Great King Factions. Just relish in the win that you were all able to achieve and rest. I think that everyone who worked hard during this incident deserved that. The Phenex Clan has supported the Underworld through all the Phoenix Tears produced by them, so I won't have their members punished for this incident."

Hearing that from Sirzechs caused relief from Ravel as she smiled relieved at the thought that her clan was free from the Great King Faction's criticism.

"Well, I think that you five should go about enjoying this moment of peace. And leave things concerning the Great King Faction to Sirzechs here."

Zeoticus stated smiling.

Hearing that comment from Sirzechs and Zeoticus, the people started standing up to their feet, seeing that their meeting was finished.

"Ah, Kensei there's one thing that I wanted to inform you about."

"Hmm, what is it?"

"Millicas is still adamant about wanting you to become his first or sole Knight when he receives his Evil Pieces."

Sirzechs revealed to him, causing Kensei to let out a slight chuckle after hearing it.

"Millicas-sama?"

"Ah, yea. Well, at the same time that I fought against Souji-san in Kibou Town, Millicas was there with Sirzechs and the rest of his peerage. And I might have left an impression on his adorable head. So, whenever he gets the chance to ask, he often offers me a position on his peerage," Kensei replied to Ravel, then turned his attention over to Millicas' parents. Sirzechs was smiling as if wanting him to agree to it. And Grayfia despite not wanting to show it, while working as a maid, loves and adores her child. "Tell him, I can't become a devil for several reasons. But, if he ever finds a good Knight for himself, I'll train that Knight to be one of the best he could ask for."

"Fine, I'll tell Millicas that."

Sirzechs seemed disappointed, but understood Kensei's reasons for not wanting to become a devil.

Grayfia nodded her head to herself understanding that too and was grateful for the fact that despite refusing the offer, Kensei was helping Millicas at the same time. Now that things seemed over, Kensei, Claire, Alice, Kunou, and Ravel left the room as the five could relax for the first time.

"Ahhh~ This feels so gooood~"

Kunou found herself submerged in the hot water of the hot spring, which was prepared inside the Phenex Clan's region. It seemed like a bunch of people from the Underworld takes some inspiration from Japan, because theirs are similar to ones found in Japan. But, there were a lot of motifs to Phoenixes around them in the female section of the hot spring.

There, Claire, Alice, Kunou, and Ravel found themselves sitting inside of the bath without wearing towels to cover themselves. Because of that their varied developed bodies were put on full display, seeing as it was the women's side. And befitting a clan named after the mythological phoenix, the temperature was something that all of them found appealing to their bodies, which seemed to recover from exhaustion.

"It might sound like something Kensei would say. But, nothing beats a good dip in the hot springs after a battle."

Claire commented as she soaked in the water.

"Yes, this is one of the things that I love most about Japan."

Alice stated as she found herself sinking more into the bath as her mind started turning blank and her body started to become relaxed.

"I've been so stressed thinking about what these people would end up doing that I ended up draining myself on a mental level."

"Well, you ended up poisoned using light and needed to solve several things without knowing what or who you'd need to deal with. I wasn't lying when I said that even I wouldn't have been able to think of and do all that."

"You're right, Claire-sama. I never thought that I would get the chance in doing all this."

"Well, it's not all that surprising considering you're left following what your brother wants to do during the games. I don't think that I can understand sacrificing pieces when there are other things that you can use."

Claire noted, causing Ravel to believe that she knows about the kind of strategies that Riser often uses inside the Rating Games.

"Claire-sama, do you often watch Rating Games?"

"Yes, I do."

"Claire here is an avid Rating Game viewer. I don't even need to guess that her favorite one is the Rating Game Champion, her uncle."

"Of course," Claire started off sounding more cheerful. "Diehauser-ojisan has been my favorite since I started to watch the Rating Game matches."I believe that he and his peerage are simply the best players in the game with no one coming close to matching their balance. And when it comes to being smart and kind, no one's better than Diehauser-ojisan."

Ravel could hear that Claire truly loved her uncle, Diehauser, and was still surprised that she was related to such a renowned figure. More so despite being a half-breed, her demonic powers abilities were above most pure-bloods she have come across. And that would be due to training, something that pure-blood wouldn't do, but Claire also possessed natural talent greater than most too.

"Claire, I must say that you're an amazing person."

"Oh, what stirred this on?"

"I mean, you have your natural talent and demonic powers are better than most pure-blood devils, even with that alone, you're leagues above Riser-oniisama. Aside from that, you're the host of one of the highest-ranked angels, affording the same light powers as pure angels. I doubt that the powers of either side would have a serious effect on you. Having both those powers can open an almost endless number of possibilities for you."

"Well, I wasn't that impressive in the past."

"What do you mean?"

Ravel curiously asked as Claire continued.

"In the past, I was more of a crybaby who couldn't do anything, but rely on others," Claire started as she had begun thinking about her past self. "I relied on so many people for emotional and spiritual support that when I lost them, I almost couldn't manage to keep myself sane. But, it took someone to make me see that I could be as strong as I wanted."

"Someone as in…."

"Yea, it was Kensei," Claire said laughing a bit as Ravel didn't need anything like a hint. "Since the first time that I met him, he has fought with nothing but confidence in himself. He challenged an entire group of soldiers alone all while being confident that we'll do what we needed to do. Kensei doesn't doubt the abilities of his friends or all of the people among the Kibou Alliance. He always gives everyone the confidence in finding out their abilities no matter what to the fullest, and to express them. I became the person I am today from being around him."

"Yes, that sounds like the kind of effect that Ken-sama has on people. I was able to do a lot that I wanted just in the short time he's been here."

"That's Kensei for you. Also, Ravel, I wanted to ask…."

"Uh, Claire-san!"

"What? Huh?!"

Claire turned her head to find that Alice was falling asleep inside the hot spring, likely as a result of a deep sense of relaxation she was feeling. Not wasting him, she went to Alice, then wrapped her arms around her waist to make certain that she didn't fall asleep.

"Alice-nee! I told you before not to fall asleep like that in a bath!"

"Uh, too relaxed. I can't help it."

"Kunou-san help me keep her awake before she does 'that'!"

"Okay! Kunou doesn't want to go through that again!"

Alice seemed to be becoming sleepier as time passed, without showing signs that she was waking up from Claire holding up and raising her voice. Seeing their interaction almost caused Ravel to laugh as she could even see a panicked Claire and Kunou attempting to hold onto a half-sleep Alice.

"Well, this is a hilarious-looking scene."

Ravel was surprised to hear a familiar voice near her.

She turned around to find Iryuka standing outside of the bath without attempting to wear a towel or hide in a panicked manner. Iryuka instead maintained her usual poker face and stood there, showing off her petite body and decent breasts as naturally as possible.

"Uh, Iryuka-san, what're you doing here?"

Ravel asked as Iryuka entered the bath casually beside Ravel.

"Your mother invited me here," Iryuka replied much to her surprise. "I also heard about the situation involving the people who tried poisoning and kidnapping you from her too. I was invited by the Great King Faction to a meeting after Falbium joined me there. Although, he slept through most of it."

"Ah, I see. I understand that our little attempt at bringing them out did involve you too. So, you heard about the reason for our trip into Lucifaad?"

"Yes."

"And about the fact, we tried bringing them out?"

"Yes."

"And about the fact that the person that poisoned me shot an arrow at you too."

"Yes."

"And you mad at me for almost getting you hurt and involved."

"No. And Yes."

"Huh."

Ravel was more surprised after hearing those words from Iryuka.

Despite being 'mad', Iryuka didn't show that kind of emotion if not any kind of emotion on her face.

"I am mad that you didn't tell me that you were in that kind of trouble. I do understand that trip into Lucifaad was a trap to lure about the people who tried hurting you. And I told the leaders of the Great King Faction I didn't mind it at all and supported your choice."

"H-Huh, but why? I almost got you hurt."

"Uh, because we're friends."

Iryuka titled her head to the side, showing confusion by Ravel's confusion about her response.

"B-But…."

"Ravel, if you're involved in something, of course, I'd want to help if possible. And if you're involved in something that you can't talk about, then I'll understand that too. But, no matter the situation, it doesn't change the fact that you're still my best friend."

"Iryuka-san…."

Ravel found herself tearing up at Iryuka's response and reasons for that.

And she didn't care about how it would look, but Ravel couldn't help wrapping her arms around Iryuka and pulling her into a hug. Iryuka didn't appear to react to that, yet felt the warmness on her chest because of the feelings of that hug displayed. But, it was at that moment Iryuka realized something as Ravel was hugging her.

"Ravel, did your breasts get bigger?"

"H-Huh? Iyaaah~!"

Ravel squealed a bit as she felt Iryuka starting to grope her beasts using both hands while looking as if she was examining something maintaining a nonchalant expression.

"We're both the same age as one another, but you're beasts are bigger than mine. There's also the fact that you have a lot more womanly figures than me. I've wondered is caused by genetics or something else."

"P-Please don't examine me with a straight face as your grope me," Ravel requested as she tried freeing herself from Iryuka, whose hands began moving more around other sections of her body. But, then noticed Iryuka ceased what she was doing, causing some relief from the blonde. "Hah, thank you…."

"Ravel, what's that?"

"What's…huh?!"

Ravel again squealed as she witnessed something that she wasn't expecting to see inside of a bath, which was a black tentacle positioned in front of her.

"Iyah, Claire-san, Alice-san did it again!"
