Welcome to the next chapter of DxD – The Last Amagiri, but before starting. Let's answer some reviews:
Akashi1412: She didn't go for the strongest guy. Xenovia went for the guy with Dragon genetics, which she didn't know about with Kensei. In the end, Issei did end up with the body made from Great Red and Ophis' power down the line in that case, with him having the potential of two Dragon Gods.
altajir95: Thanks. Yes, it'll be the start of the second semester of Kibou Academy, with the Numbers meeting at the Kibou Alliance. Kensei is looking to explore and expand what he knows about Bouchujutsu. Thanks for understanding. I'll continue doing that.
Kibou Alliance Tour
Some time passed since the summer ended, with school starting up again with the Kibou Alliance's Numbers all but starting up their business. That business involved them preparing for the actions of Yami and their faction causing trouble around Japan, Hikage. Of course, Hisui's intelligence faction, Nekomeshuu planned to further their training as Ninja and Kunoichi. But, Yami hasn't become as active, with their subdivision functioning the most.
In a particular location, in a less populated town, where an abandoned factory was located, there was a meeting taking place. Members of Hikage gathered together, with their numbers seeming to be much bigger than before. Each member wore better equipment that made them look like a well-equipped terrorist group. In the last year, their name has spread around Japan, not from Yami alone, but the group has received funds from members of the Human World's Underworld who wanted their aid.
All members gathered together in one spot, as weapon cases could be seen resting on the tables in the factory. On their faces were black masks that kept their identities from being revealed, with the masks covering their mouths too.
"These are just some of the weapons that Yami's craftsmen have prepared for us."
A member spoke with a modified voice, making identifying their gender impossible.
Standing in the factory, there was another figure who was wearing a cloak and mask that kept their voice from being revealed. The figure stood as the cases on the tables seemed to have a seal placed on them. Undoing the seal, the case opened and revealed a rifle far more advanced than anything in the Human World. Its frame matched the same color scheme as the Hikage.
"Ah, this will show the current system and we won't be ignored or denied anymore."
Another member added, almost anticipating what would happen.
"Don't forget that things will become more troublesome with 'that' group getting involved too."
The figure revealed, speaking in an almost indifferent tone, as the members gathered around them; more and more seals were undone revealing the various weapons contained in them. Each Hikage member stared at the weapons mesmerized by the 'power' being gifted to them.
"Ah, we feel blessed to have been given such a present from Yami."
"Yes!"
"Yes!"
"Yes!"
The members of Hikage spoke as if they were receiving a blessing from their 'god', with the figure all but silent as this happened before them.
"…."
As the members gathered their weapons in the cases to be brought to their base, the figure looked as if their job was done.
"I'll be leaving now. Just make sure that you return to your respective…."
The figure paused, with their combat instincts making them feel as if something was wrong in that instance. Around, them, the Hikage members' actions of collecting the weapons they acquired as the feeling as if something was amiss not leaving their minds.
"Alright, come out."
The figure spoke out, pointing her finger at a particular location.
She gathered magic power, then fired in that direction, surprising the Hikage members as he made an explosion.
"Wh-What happened?!"
The members seemed to question and look to see what happened as the Yami member seemed to fire off magic without warning.
"Damn, you almost hit me. I'm good enough to hide from two Senjutsu users, but you react based on instinct alone."
A familiar voice came up.
Kensei came from the shadow surprised that he was almost attacked by the figure with magic, and dressed in the Kibou Alliance's combat attire.
"If it makes you feel better. I didn't know if there was someone there a hundred percent. It was just a hunch."
The figure seemed to reassure, with Kensei almost surprised about that.
"And just like that, you sound nicer than the people I often meet."
Kensei stated jokingly.
"Kensei Amagiri!"
"You're the interloper that intervened with our Benefactor!"
"How dare you?!"
The different members of Hikage started roaring and shouting with Kensei seeming to pick his ears with an irritating look.
"Tsk, if anything that psychopathic tool was the one who intervened with me in the first place. A total of three times mind you."
Kensei stated, with the Hikage members glaring at him.
"….!"
The figure remained silent, not seeming to react at all.
It was then that some among their group started arming themselves with the weapons that they'd just received. Most consisted of firearms that gleamed with a dangerous light as they were trained on Kensei.
"Ah, come on. You're pointing guns at an unarmed person."
Kensei teased.
"Based on what I heard, you're dangerous without a sword," the figure stated, sounding neither rude nor patronizing, instead making a point. As the men charged the firearms before beginning to fire at Kensei unprovoked. "Besides, you're not alone."
Fire! As the men fired their weapons at him, firing a beam at him, a barrier manifested in front of him without Kensei looking worried or confused. Appearing beside him were Claire and Kunou dressed in the same combat attire.
"You're not going to touch our Ken-chan."
Kunou stated strongly, with an equally strong presence.
"Well, it looks like the intel was right. In a small town far from Kibou Town there would be a deal that will be between Hikage," Claire uttered under her breath, thinking about the intel their group got on this meeting. "But, that was for two different locations. So, we split up."
"I put up a barrier around the factory as planned. So, none of them should be able to escape."
Kunou informed.
"Alright, then let's wrap this up and see what we learn here," Kensei stated. "Claire, do you want to do the honors?"
"Of course. So, Kunou let's try that out."
"Alright, Claire-san!"
Claire held up her hand, manifesting an angelic rifle in her hands from the light particles. She didn't hesitate to point it at the men behind the barrier, then fired a beam of light at them. But, instead of simply passing through the barrier, the light split apart into different beams that spread around the factory. It sparked immediate panic from the Hikage members who started moving to avoid them all, not expecting such a thing.
But, the figure didn't react instead avoiding the beams or blocking with a barrier of their own. It was a known fact that before joining Hikage, some were normal Japanese civilians who'd gotten tired of the 'oppressive' system. So, dealing with them was no issue for the Kibou Alliance. But, some received the Hunter's training, the previous Gehenna Guards, and could handle themselves. And there were some cases where their members had ostracized Sacred Gear users.
It was hard to identify, as their equipment seemed to mask their Sacred Gears until they chose to use them. Reacting to them, Claire and Kunou moved together in unison to counter the group that split up, while Kensei took the others. His attention didn't leave the figure who remained the calmest in this situation, viewing them as the biggest threat.
"Alright, let's get this start."
Kensei stated as the Hikage members pointed their recently obtained firearms at him.
A beam of light was fired from the rifle, sailing at Kensei.
He didn't look worried about the laser, instead avoiding it, as the members came together and kept on firing the lasers at him. Kensei kept avoiding the lasers fired at him, turning his head to see that it melted the metal it touched.
"Hm, it doesn't look like an actual light beam."
Kensei stated, not seeming to sense the presence of light from the beams.
"That's right, these aren't the same as the light of those angels or disgusting fallen angels!"
A Hikage member shouted.
"That's rude. I imagine that a fallen angel would be insulted to hear that," Kensei stated, then noticed a beam heading for him, then blocked it with his hand. "…hm?"
Smoke.
He looked to notice after blocking with his hand that it started smoking from the impact. Ever since he explored Kirimori in Shiamano, Kensei almost perfected his manipulation of ki, enough that it doesn't leak out anymore. And with Haki, it means that ki is channeled through the body without leaking out, meaning that his body became stronger, faster, and tougher; as much as using Touki, but without being enshroud in ki.
"I felt the heat."
Kensei thought as he felt intense heat from that blast.
He wasn't hurt by the attack, seeing as his elemental resistance seemed to improve as he absorbed Spiritual Beasts' cores based on the concept of Wu Xing. But, the fact that the beams emitted such heat that it melted metal was a dangerous weapon.
"Oh, what's wrong?"
"Did our savior's weapon hurt?"
"Let's use our weapons to eliminate this heathen."
All the members' vigor seemed to have lit up after that.
"Oh, don't choke too hard, then it'll be hard to hear you."
Kensei teased, it took a moment for them to realize what that suggestive comment meant, as it emboldened them further. But, that figure was almost amused by that comment, with the people all firing their weapons at him. They kept their attention on Kensei as he kept fighting against them, with some interest. But, it didn't mean that they didn't have their own in mind about this situation, in particular, the barrier that kept them from leaving and the attacks from reading the outside.
Most importantly, it would that would delay their intended assignment, and that couldn't be allowed to happen. So, they started working on a backup plan to ensure that wouldn't be the case, as the battle continued. As Kensei was fighting a one-man fight against the men in front of him, Claire and Kunou were handling their as a duo.
As Kunou channeled fox fire in her hands, she released it at the Hikage members in front of her, with Claire behind her with her angelic firearms. The terrorists struggled to get an opening, but the teamwork was almost too solid. If they fired at Kunou, Claire came in and blocked it with a shield she manifested. If they shot at Claire, Kunou came in with a barrier. Despite being at odds, or it might be because of that the two worked together well enough.
"Claire-san, so do you get a better idea of their weapons?"
Kunou asked, noting that Claire was using her Senrigan on them.
"Hm, I tried. But, I seem to be getting some interference so I'm getting faint information about them. It looks as if they're using the same masking they're using on their outfits," Claire replied, turning off her Senrigan to not waste the effort. "It seems as if they want to stop attempts at figuring out any details about their mechanics. It wouldn't be surprising to imagine that if it was attempted, then it'll explode or something."
"Uh, that's scary to think about. Hmm, the weapons might be the creations of the Rogue Dwarves and those learning from them. So, the metal they're made of is likely magical."
"I doubt it's anything like Mithril, Adamantine, or Orichalcum. All of them are scarce materials which are often kept under strict watch to ensure they're not misused."
"Well, there are alchemists too. I recall that Zane-san is working on alchemy to produce new kinds of materials too."
Kunou mentioned, bringing Claire's mind there too.
"Ah, right."
Claire stated, almost smiling at that hint.
"These two aren't even taking us seriously."
"Let's give them something to focus on!"
"Right, do it!"
At that, one of the Hikage members seemed determined to not let them ignore them.
One of their hands released an ominous light as skeletal tendrils manifested on them, wrapping up around the rifle; seeming to attach themselves to it. A brighter light seemed to be released by the rifle that he pointed at them.
"Claire-san."
Kunou felt some worry about the potential of this next attack, guessing that this would be a widespread attack. Kensei was out of the crossfire, but if it was released at them, then it might result in damage that would be hard to explain. Plus, there's no telling what would happen if the charging were to be interrupted and not telling what the Sacred Gear is.
"I got it."
Claire replied, making preparations to counter it.
She took the shield she manifested from before, then converted it into a much larger shape which covered her and Kunou, as well as parts of the old machinery behind them. After that a massive beam was fired at them, slamming against the massive shield Claire constructed, causing them to clash. Claire could block it just fine, but she was worried about the aftermath. She felt the heat from the beam, seeming to melt the ground from the collision.
As Claire did that, Kunou held her hands together as a barrier seemed to manifest between her hands. She then closed her hands, causing the barrier to vanish, expanding to the inner layers of the old factory, almost acting as an additional shell.
"Claire-san, deflect it!"
Kunou said as Claire adjusted the shield, causing the beams to be fired off in another direction that hit the barrier the Kyuubi just put up. After that, the two moved again, as the Hikage members were in a state of momentary confusion. But, that soon faded as Claire appeared in front of the group, and she nailed several of them in the stomach with precise punches and hits.
"Guh!"
"Gah!"
"Ugh!"
Each hit, despite Claire's appearance held force behind, being a Half-Devil, and someone who has trained with Diehauser's peerage, in particular, their Rook, Bishop, and Knight teammates. So, Claire trained her body, speed, and demonic power with them. Plus, there was no doubt that she was well-versed in martial arts as she trained with Kensei for a long time prior.
Just then, the members with tendrils coming from their arms extended them to their teammates, seemingly piercing them. It surprised Claire for a literal second, but then noticed that there was also 'something' being injected into their bodies, causing an aura to surround them.
"Urgh!"
"Aaah!"
"Raa!"
Their bodies seemed to have been augmented as if a strong steroid had been injected into their bodies, but it still wasn't concerning for Claire. Each enhanced person kept aiming swift and strong at her, while she continued avoiding them. But, when landing a strong attack, it didn't seem to affect them much, seeming as if they were less sensitive to pain.
"Hm?"
As another one attempted to hit her, Claire avoided it and aimed a strong chop at the back of their neck. It felt as if she tried the slightest bit more than she would have broken their neck. But, it looked to be enough to knock them out, although the damage will still be significant. She raised her hand in the air, gathering demonic power before releasing it at the last remaining enhanced people, sending their bodies into the adjacent wall injured and unconscious.
It was a heartless attack, but Claire didn't care and knew that anything less than this might not be enough to down these enhanced people. She looked to find that Kunou entrapped people inside the barriers she made and made them pass out.
Claire looked at Kensei, she wasn't worried about him, but like him, she was worried about the figure who managed to sense them. As soon as she put up that shield, Claire glanced to find that Kensei took care of the Hikage members with punches and kicks, that held great mastery and accuracy. It looked as if he would get close to the figure soon.
"…?"
Claire was surprised to find something she wasn't expecting.
The figure seemed to manifest a spear from magic, no element, but simple magic power. But, that wasn't the most surprising thing, the figure seemed to continue to fight against Kensei, who chose to retrieve Kurogane. Both of them were fighting in close-quarters combat, with a spear and sword, the former held the reach advantage. But, it wasn't as if this was the first time Kensei fought against a spear user.
If the figure stabbed forward, he avoided the spear, then swung his sword at them; but the figure just didn't seem to be inexperienced either, the magic spear's length lessened and blocked. Both of them got into an intense close-ranged fight against one another. Despite the spear having the length advantage, it was surprising to see one handling themselves in close-quarters combat, even being able to block melee techniques.
"This person is strong and skilled."
Claire stated, noting that the figure hadn't been pushed back in the slightest and handled a lot of his attack without issue. It wasn't as if Kensei was serious and hadn't used an actual technique, but the same could be said about the figure.
"Is that person a Human or not? Kunou hasn't heard of many people able to fight against Ken-chan like that. I know there was the time with that Exorcist from before, the True Longinus user, and Lingqi-san."
Kunou wondered, knowing full well that Humans can be as skilled and defeat the supernatural, with those three people being prime examples.
"Don't know, but we need to be careful. I don't know what this person is going to…."
"Hah, I can't play around too much," the figure said, almost snapping back to reality, but seemed to be disappointed. "I found myself getting caught in another swordsman's rhythm."
"Ah, come on. I was just starting to have some fun too," Kensei stated, finding himself playing around and feeling 'something' from this person. "Though in this fight, I haven't been able to sense what ill intent or anything like that. But, I could feel that this person was enjoying themselves. I have no idea who this person is, but…."
"I'm sorry. But, I have a schedule to keep."
It was then that she manifested a magic circle in her hand, spreading around different symbols, and then Kunou felt something.
"Huh, m-my barrier is…."
Kunou was surprised as her barrier was taken apart almost without resistance, causing Kensei and Claire to look shocked themselves.
"I don't think that I've ever met someone who can dismantle a barrier that Kunou-san was built up," Claire couldn't stop herself from looking stunned. She looked to find that the magic that the figure used was from a familiar faction. "But, was that Norse Magic?"
"And can't let these guys get captured under my watch."
The figure then activated another magic, causing the Hikage members to be transported to another location before either of them could react. Claire didn't even have the time to negate the spell used.
"You're skilled in using a spear and have a fast activation speed. I'm surprised that someone like you was sent here to arm some hapless people."
Claire stated, surprised that someone like this was sent here.
"I'm in what you'd call a probationary period in this 'little' group," the figure replied, before making a magic circle appear underneath her feet. "But, I didn't think that this assignment would be all that eventful. So, I thank you three for not making this as bad as I thought it would be."
Kensei, Claire, and Kunou could tell that the person sounded genuine as they teleported from that location, leaving them there.
"Hah, well that ended up in a failure," Kensei stated, scratching his head. "Well, at least we did get an idea of what weapons they're selling. And that's there's someone else skilled that has joined Yami."
"Tell me about it. They activated that teleportation spell faster than I could nullify it, it almost looked as if it was instantaneous. I know a lot about Norse Magic, but it seems like they're better. Well, Zane is the sole Norse Magic expert in our group and most of his spells seem like that too."
Claire stated, comparing what she saw in combat.
"Same. But, let's check up on Alice-san, Ravel-san, and Lingqi-san."
Kunou stated, making that suggestion.
"You're right. Let's see," Kensei replied, retrieving his Oracle Phone then contacted them, but had it on speaker. "Alice, how are things there?"
[Oh, we were just going to contact you guys first.] Alice could be heard over the other end. [Well, the people here did have a deal going on with some weapons. They seemed to be weapons meant for direct combat, like gauntlets and armor. Kinda like the stuff you'd see in a science fiction story.]
"Hm, yeah, we saw some guns and rifles here."
"And there was some Sacred Gear user who looked capable of enhancing weapons and people."
Claire added that.
[Well, there was no Sacred Gear user here. But, the armors here seemed troublesome, though this wasn't difficult for us to handle. If anything, if these guys get proper training and a good handle on these weapons, then it'll be troublesome for average opponents.]
Lingqi explained.
[Plus, Ken-sama, there's the chance that these weapons will be sold off to other groups that aren't in Hikage. Like the members of the Human World's Underworld.]
Ravel stated, making them think of that possibility.
"Hm, yeah, if that asshole wants to cause chaos, then he'll spread those weapons to gangsters and criminals. Hah, Arata gathered the best and worst people from other factions like those Dwarves all working for them. So, there's no telling what those guys at Yami will be cooking up in the future."
Kensei added, almost feeling frustrated at not knowing.
For them, the Kibou Alliance was preparing as much as possible, but until they learned something, it was going to end up being a game of defense. However, their group managed to track Hikage's actions, as it is simply a sub-group to Yami and more proactive on the surface.
"Well, there's not much to do here. So, let's clean things up here, but let's meet up so that I can ensure there aren't any 'shadows' on anyone."
[Alright.]
Everyone agreed with what Kensei said, knowing Yami's 'Shadows' could be placed on them, making it possible to track and teleport to their locations. After coming to that understanding, the group did their best to clean up the aftermath, ensuring that it would look as if there was a simple accident for the civilians. After the incident, the Sword Team, not counting Minako returned to Kibou Town, where their report about the incident was sent to the others.
The next morning, the Kibou Group continued with their usual activities, but there was something the group planned on doing after school. It was caused by some interest a particular group had in their town and the Kibou Alliance. After school ended, with nothing else to do, given special passes, the group teleported to Kibou Town.
"This is where Kensei and his people live."
The first to speak up was Rias, who looked around the town with interest.
"Hm, it does have a comfortable atmosphere."
Akeno added, smiling feeling the unique atmosphere around Kibou Town, but it wasn't anything bad and felt familiar.
"…I heard this town has special ley lines underneath them."
Koneko stated, recalling that conversation with Kensei from before.
"Ley lines?"
Issei looked questioningly at that comment.
"You could think of them as special lines, which transport energy through the earth and spreads all across different locations around the world."
Tsubaki spoke up, bringing her knowledge into the conversation.
The people who showed interest in Kibou Town were the members of the Occult Research Club and Student Council. Both groups have gotten to know the Kibou Group through interactions after the Kokabiel Incident and have developed what could be called a friendship and deep respect for them. And their interest in seeing what the Kibou Alliance was like wasn't a chance neither could let go.
"Hah, this place always has a good atmosphere. Well, the last time that I was here it was a little bit different from the last," Azazel stated, looking around the location. "But, Kensei has been doing a good job acting as the new overseer for the town."
"Azazel-sensei, you did mention that you know a lot about the Amagiri Clan, right?"
Kiba asked curiously.
"Yeah. I remember hearing about some guy who met the previous overseer of the town. I also heard some rumors that she happened to be the owner of the same Sacred Gear King Solomon used."
"Th-The King Solomon. The same person who summoned and compiled information about the First Heads of the Seventy-Two Pillars."
Rias asked, feeling some surprise about that information, seeing as it pretty much spread the Devils' knowledge through the Human World for ages. However, it was an embarrassing incident to all be summoned and follow the whims of a Human.
"Hahaha, that was sure embarrassing for them. But yeah, Kiyoko Higurashi, well Amagiri now held it in her possession and used it a lot differently than King Solomon. After meeting Itsuki, she sealed a lot of beings too dangerous to be allowed around, even Sacred Gear users weren't an exception. Ha, I do wonder if Kensei is aware of that one. Well, she was already interesting to talk to."
"Ah, I see. You were friends."
"Hm, you could say that. She always had an interest in other factions and was open-minded. Well, it was the same for Itsuki too based on what I heard."
"Hm, so you talked to her and not Itsuki."
"I was a bit busy around that time. So, I couldn't get the time to talk to him and besides, his fame at the time was frightening, to say the least. Not that I was ever afraid of him, but…."
"Wait, there's something wrong," Sona pointed out, noticing there was something odd about that. "If you haven't talked to Itsuki, then how could you talk to Kiyoko?"
"Ah, right. I can tell how that would be confusing, Sona. I doubt that most would know this, but Kiyoko outlived Itsuki and her kids. She died around the time that Kensei was born. Heck, Kiyoko may have been there for all the kids' birth."
Azazel revealed, surprising them.
[!]
Everyone looked stunned by those words, with them almost not believing any of it.
"Hm, well there are some from the Five Principal Clans said to still be alive from the Edo Period. But, for Kiyoko, her body was mutated in such a way that she couldn't be considered a normal 'Human' anymore. Her kids and others adapted more to their Sacred Gears, because of those changes. But, she could naturally live in the modern area. Heck, she was still quite the looker, she didn't look a day over forty. In the end, her body just shut down and so the longtime Matriarch died."
Azazel explained as his newest students seemed to take in all that information, while he was still in thought about that.
"Hm, if Amatsu-Mikaboshi decided to attack after all this time, then it might've been because Kiyoko died. Her Sacred Gear could seal anything, even potentially a god. Hell, if wouldn't be surprising if it turns into a Longinus with the next host. Well, with that in mind, I could hope that the next host isn't a foe, because Kiyoko honed it throughout all this time in case Amatsu-Mikaboshi made a move. And to think that there's another potential Longinus on the wrong side. There are also the others too."
Azazel thought as he thought about that, thinking about Jun whose Sacred Gear was a potential one, and theorized it would be evaluated into that. He heard about the True Longinus and the fact that Vali, someone whose both Lucifer's great-grandson and Divine Dividing's current owner joined the same group.
"So, how're you enjoying the first experience?"
A familiar voice caught their attention.
It was revealed to be Kensei, who was joined by Ravel who held her tablet in her hands. He gave the group a friendly wave, which a lot of the people in the group returned.
"It's a nostalgic. I didn't get a real good chance to look around the town before. But, it seems as if the Kibou Alliance has added a greater sense of security for the people here."
Azazel pointed out, noticing the barrier that was around the entire town, which would be nothing but the conjoint effort of the people there. It wasn't a surprise that he was surprised about the efforts of the Kibou Alliance, a collection of kids who produced such a prospering organization.
"Yeah, after not having their protectors for a long time. I have to make it up to the people somehow," Kensei casually replied. "Well, how about before we head off to the Kibou Alliance? And after that, I'll show you guys one of the best restaurants here."
At that, the group couldn't stop themselves from looking forward to seeing the restaurants here and how good the food was.
"Of course, before that, I need to do a mandatory security check."
Kensei casually pointed out.
"Uh, how?"
"I'm going to stab your shadows."
Kensei again casually replied, this time with a smile.
"Um, it sounds like you said you were going to stab our shadows."
Issei stated, laughing at what he believed was a joke.
"I said what I said and meant it."
Kensei stated, retrieving Kurogane from its sleeve, making them realize that he wasn't kidding.
"It's not a random request. Yami, the group we've been facing has been implanting their 'shadows' into people and locations as a medium transport from place to place. It's unlikely that you'll have them in yours, but we're being cautious."
Ravel explained.
"Hm, that makes sense."
Azazel agreed, knowing that this was a serious situation.
"I know that it'll be odd to have a sword out in public. So, I'll make it quick," Kensei said as he then let Kurogane out of its sheathe for a moment, then from their perspective his body seemed to seem like a ghost before sheathing Kurogane again. "Alright, done."
"Wait, what?"
Issei didn't seem to realize what happened and the others couldn't either.
"It didn't seem like you moved."
Kiba stated, seeming surprised himself, but didn't doubt that Kensei did do something.
"I didn't see anything either."
Xenovia said, voicing her suspension too.
"Ah, that's the Amagiri Clan for ya. His mother used a similar technique that tricks the consciousness into believing that she didn't just appear in front of you through breathing and footwork. It's a pain-in-the-ass technique that people in the supernatural can't wrap their heads around. The Onmyoushi of the clan has cut down a lot of them with a similar technique before. It's not about being faster than an opponent, but making them unable to perceive them."
"That seems a little complicated for a technique."
Rias stated, not hearing about such a technique before.
"That's the Amagiri Clan for you, they create martial arts and spells that are considered out of the norm to others. And the person in front of us is the next Heir and the potential next Sword Saint."
Azazel stated.
"Alright, that's enough for the continued praise. Let's go."
Kensei said, putting Kurogane back in its sleeve, then turned around, with the others starting to follow behind him as he walked to the Kibou Alliance Building.
"…I can't wait for the tour."
Koneko said, walking ahead and grabbing onto Kensei's right arm, causing him to smile. But, then a scowl could be seen forming on Ravel's face.
"Yeah, and I can't wait to show off what our group has been making, Shirone."
Kensei replied, causing Koneko to almost smile at the sound of Kensei saying her real name, which was something she didn't have that much pride in.
"Ken-sama, don't forget that there are certain things our group can't show off."
Ravel reminded, before grabbing onto his other arm.
"I know, I know. What would I do without you, Ravel?"
Kensei stated, causing her to smile at that comment, liking the feeling of being needed.
Rias and the others looked on as the two first-years were swooning over Kensei, seeing almost close to amused and surprised about it. Issei and Saji felt jealous about how easy it was for him, but at the same time, neither of them could hate Kensei. Because….
""How can this guy be so likable and cool?""
Issei and Saji wondered.
Walking to the Kibou Alliance's building, the members of the Gremory and Sitri Groups looked up in wonder. It was the first time either of them had seen the building aside from hearing about it, never expecting it would be like this. Plus, the group could sense the people's presence, coming in and out of the building; each one was part of the supernatural, but the species was unknown.
In the building, the surprise remained as the presence became stronger, around them, the people of the Kibou Alliance worked on various things related to either the Human or Supernatural World. But, it was surprising to see the group's synergy in just the reception. During all that, Kensei headed up to the front desk to talk to the worker there.
"Wow, I wasn't expecting it to be like this."
Rias stated, surprised by what she was witnessing.
"I feel the same. I heard about the Kibou Alliance from Onee-sama, but this wasn't what I thought I'd ever see. But, seeing as to what Zane and the others surprised, it's not surprising."
Sona added, noticing that some people there were Devils, some half, but the others were just normal ones, not Pure-Bloods.
"Hm, I felt the same after seeing this for the first time. I knew that Ken-sama wasn't a normal person, but seeing all this up close it breathtaking."
Ravel stated, still feeling enamored by it.
"Well, it's not as if we did it alone," Kensei stated, returning with a bunch of visitor badges for them. "It was a joint effort by the craftsmen from the Norse and Greek Factions, as well as those from Ajuka's group and the Gremory Group. All in all, it turned out better than either of us expected."
"Wow, all those guys came together to build this. It's kinda surprising to hear. I mean, it was before the whole Three Faction Treaty."
"Well, it was beneficial for the people involved. So, these temporary badges are for the basic things, like identification and ensuring the guards don't think you're an infiltrator. Plus, Alice left a couple of monsters around for surveillance purposes."
Kensei explained, handing them out to the people involved.
"Hm, speaking of Alice. I heard that she is progressing in creating her monsters. Plus, there's Maria, who has been doing some interesting things with her Blade Blacksmith."
"Yeah, she's learning about creating stronger and sentient Shikigami, while Maria improved on what it means to construct swords."
"Both sure are doing some interesting things. I haven't met an Annihilation Maker user who'd stored unused monsters in their shadows, that alone means it's turned into a Sub-Species. If she learns the same method as the Amagiri Clan, then those monsters will be closer to the real things," Azazel said, wearing an interesting smile. "Hey, Kiba, if you get the time, you should talk to Maria. Both your Sword Birth and her Blade Blacksmith are Sacred Gears said to be capable of having an infinite number of abilities depending on the user. And Maria is among the few that could show it."
"Hm, that does sound interesting."
Kiba agreed, finding himself interested in meeting someone with a Sacred Gear similar to his.
"Alright. So, I think the first place we should head off to is Zane's Research Department. I know that's the place some certain someone's is interested in seeing."
Kensei teased, seeming to hint to Azazel and Sona, something that caused them to notice that.
He then started leading them to the elevator that'll take them to Zane's Research Department, requiring a unique code. The reason was that the Research Department wasn't a location meant for normal people. After the first group entered the elevator, he inputted the code that allowed them to head there first, then joined himself afterward.
[Wow!]
Arriving there, Kensei could see they were again surprised by what they were witnessing Zane's pride. Even to him, it looked like the Research Department changed whenever he visited. The Research Group believed that progress has no limit, whether it is technologies or arrangement.
Both the Gremory and Sitri Group were witnessing an assortment of machines and devices, making them curious about their functions. But, a lot were aware that it wouldn't be right for them to poke around to see things without permission.
"Ah, Kensei! I'm guessing it was that time."
Zane said, standing up from his workstation.
"Yeah, everyone wanted a tour of our Kibou Alliance. But, I do think that some of them are nervous about exploring."
Kensei informed.
"Come on, they don't have to be nervous. It's not as if we're working on anything dangerous. I mean, we have a special room for that kind of stuff. All the stuff around here is completely safe, and these people won't be shy of explaining things."
Zane stated, holding out his hand as if permitting him to go out and explore the different things in front of them.
It looked as if it was enough, as the members of the Student Council, in particular, Ruruko, Tomoe, Tsubasa, Saji, and Reya. Kiba, Xenovia, Asia, Gasper, and Issei started walking around too, to stare at the various inventions and experiments with curiosity. In all that, Azazel looked around, rubbing his chin and wearing a smile.
"Well, this place is as interesting looking as I thought. It's surprising to see how much a couple of kids could do when they put their minds to it," Azazel stated, finding himself impressed. "I can see that a lot of things are related to combining magic and science."
"Yeah, a personal goal of ours is combining both those concepts into one, to create something that will revolutionize the world. Besides, I have help from my team and Anne."
"Ah, the Magus Akashic that turned into an all-powerful supercomputer with an A.I., which would make anybody jealous. Surprisingly, Zirnitra could create a grimoire that functions similarly to the Sacred Gears but for the Magicians and half-breeds. I haven't managed to find one of those grimoires, let alone the owners," Azazel stated. "So, tell me. Are you planning on trying to create the Philosopher's Stone?"
There wasn't a single alchemist or practitioner who wasn't aware of that phrase, the Magnum Opus, the Philosopher's Stone, which is the greatest creation that lets one perform the alchemy of the highest level. Not a single person hadn't attempted the creation of this Great Work.
"Of course, I am, I'm trying to create a sword that surpasses Gram. So, creating something that no one has managed to create until this point is of course a personal challenge of mine. Besides, it'll be an undeniable asset for us and I can perform the kind of alchemy that'll create the impossible."
Zane replied, seeming ecstatic at the idea of that, causing Azazel to see he was enthusiastic about the concept of invention and innovation, which was something he could admire about people.
"Hey, Zane."
"Yes, Sona."
"Are these Slime?"
Sona asked, pointing at a water tank that seemed to have Slime swimming around in it.
"Yeah, we picked up some Slime from the Familiar Forest to see if there was anything we could use them for. All Slime is known for being useless and a nuisance, but it turns out they have uses too," Zane explained, picking up a small glass water container that was beside the tank. "It turns out that Slimes can be used to decontaminate contaminated water. This water here was murky before we placed the Slime in them."
"Interesting. I don't think that I have heard of anyone looking into the practical uses of Slimes," Sona stated, with interest, holding out her hand and seeming to channel her demonic power. "It does look as if the water is purified and drinkable."
"Is that so," Zane asked, opening the container, then surprisingly took a fearless drink from it. "Yeah, it is good. It doesn't have the same taste as bottled water, but it isn't bad."
"You drank it."
"Well, you said it looks safe. And if a Pure-Blood who specializes in manipulating water says it's safe, then who am I to not believe them?"
Zane reasoned.
"But, still it's dangerous to drink something like that."
Sona stated, not knowing what to say about that.
"Hm, so Slimes can be used to detoxify water. Well, that's revolutionary in itself."
Azazel pointed out, and then Lena started entering the Research Department.
"Hm, ah, right, there was supposed to be the tour around now," Lena stated, wearing a blank look as she held the tablet in her hand. "Well, just don't break anything, I guess. Zane, I received information about the Holy Swords from Michael. I think that he added more detail about Galatine."
"Ah, thanks. Did you send the information we promised too?"
"Yeah. I think he was impressed by the barrier technique, which they seemed the most interested in," Lena replied, handing Zane the tablet. "Hello, Sona."
"Hello, Lena-san."
Both greeted one another, sounding cordial with one another.
"Besides, I'm wondering if you plan on making contact with Zane."
"Oh, well, I wouldn't be against the idea. But, there isn't much I could provide Zane."
"But, your territory has advanced medical technology, which our group has been paying attention to for alternative methods of healing."
"That's true. Well, we'll discuss things at a later date."
Zane could hear that Sona and Lena were sharing a cordial conversation, feeling glad about that. As it would result in their friendship and connection continuing without an issue.
"Oh, what's this?"
He could hear someone speaking up, noting that it was Tomoe asking a worker about something as a machined contained a multicolored ore, giving off a faint glow.
"Ah, this is…."
"Oh, is this the famous Amahagane?"
Azazel asked, stepping up, knowing most about the other famous ores, with Amahagane being one, not he hasn't seen up close.
"That's right, Azazel-sama, this is an ore used in the construction of Amahagane. It was something we received from Amakuni-sama during a previous visit. We started examining the ore to see what is other potential uses are."
The female worker replied.
"Amahagane?"
Tomoe asked, tilting her head to the side.
"It's the same metal that Kensei's sword is made of. It's an alloy that isn't as known as the others, but it creates the Houtou, which is as famous as legendary swords. But, as it's an alloy, we don't know the other component that Amakuni used to create Amahagane."
"We haven't come across anything either. It seems to be an Iron competent, but it isn't anything we have seen. Plus, we tried examining Kurogane, but it looks as if after completion, it is almost difficult to examine the materials used."
"Hm, asking the source seems to be the option. But, I doubt you guys are the type to take the easiest path for an answer. I have found a couple of Houtou, but couldn't seem to find the other material he used to create them."
Azazel stated as he stared at the ore in front of him.
"…Ken-sensei, is that plant from Shiamano?"
Elsewhere, Koneko stared at a unique plant positioned in the room, kept in a container, but sensed a familiar presence from it.
"Yeah, I talked to the Shikigami there and they mentioned that the spiritual plants have healing traits, far more than ordinary plants. In particular, those found in areas rich with the Wood Element," Kensei explained. "Lingqi sent some plants back to her family because her brother took an interest in using alchemy and his sacred gear seems related to it."
"…she did mention that once too."
"It seems as if Lingqi-sama said she received some pills he produced too. And the effects seem to be real efficient."
Ravel added after Koneko.
"I'm curious about what the results would be."
Kensei stated.
From there, the group continued with their tour of the Research Department, marveling at the inventions the Kibou Alliance was working on, even if it wasn't the major ones. It was a marvel to see such things from a group with people not that far from them in age. But, it then went straight to the second part of their tour of the Kibou Alliance.
"And this is one of our training rooms, which is created based on the same concept as the gaming fields combined with the barrier techniques of my clan."
Kensei informed.
"I did remember hearing that the Amagiri Clan had a couple of Longinus users born into them more than once," Rias stated, recalling that conversation during the summer. "A lot of their theories and techniques originated from the Longinus and Sacred Gears."
"No kidding, it's still hard to believe that so many Longinus appeared in one family more than once. But, it ended up being all thirteen Longinus," Azazel stated, still surprised such a phenomenon had happened in the Human World and couldn't wrap his head around it. "I'm still waiting for the data."
"Geez, we were just in the Research Department. You should've asked Zane if you weren't busy with everything else happening. I thought your name was Azazel, not Karen. You'll get your information," with that teasing tone from Kensei, the people around them laugh. "Alright, so, there seems to be a lot of people training here. So, it might be a bit hectic."
Kensei informed as he opened the door into the training room, then the group immediately heard a large explosion and aura leaking out. The Gremory and Sitri Groups found themselves surprised by the different presences that touched their skin.
"Well, this is more than what I was expecting."
Azazel stated as the group entered the training room.
As the group started entering the training room, they found themselves, noticing the members who were training in the room. Despite the small size of the door, the interior was a massive mountainous area with a blue sky that could be full of more people than those who were there in total. Like before, it was hard to tell their exact species but had a strong presence, others had wings, whether feathery or dragon-like. Elements and different powers were released in the training room, either blocked by barriers or avoided.
"All the people here are strong, not average fighters."
Kiba stated, sensing the presence of those around there.
"This is all amazing. I never thought I'd see so many people here."
Irina said, speaking up with almost excitement and wonder.
"If you want to stretch your legs. Just go out and have a blast."
Kensei stated, turning his attention to them.
"Thanks for that!"
Ruruko announced, with similar people among the two groups sharing the same feeling.
"There is a special fitting room a fair distance from here," Kensei said, then pointed in that particular direction, and then turned to Issei. "Also, don't think about spying on anyone changing here. There aren't normal high school girls here, they will beat you within an inch of your life."
"Ack!"
Issei seemed to react to Kensei's words as if he got hit in the gut, causing Rias to sigh and Akeno to laugh, while the others among her peerage shared a similar reaction.
"Ah, most of the people here are as strong as Middle-Class and High-Class Devils. I can see a lot of them are Sacred Gear users, others are Special Power users. Wow, even the Kibou Alliance's training is something to behold. I can guess that 'someone' influenced them to learn martial arts," Azazel stated, hinting at Kensei. "I can't imagine these guys having trouble with some opponents. If anything, I'd say you guys have a real shot at fighting against Yami."
"Yeah. But, still don't know what else they're planning in the future. More so, as they haven't made a move since the summer break. At most, Hikage seems to be causing nothing but mayhem to gather the negative energy that they need to help Amatsu-Mikaboshi recover."
Kensei stated.
"You could never know what a Primordial God will do, especially those who have been around longer than when their faction was made. And it goes most to someone who received aid from one, with no regard for who gets hurt in the process. If things keep going like this, then there's a chance that the modern era will rediscover the existence of the supernatural."
Azazel added, knowing full well what the possible reaction would be to the modern era know about the existence of the supernatural. He was aware that Sacred Gear users aren't given a fair deal as is, but if their existence becomes public, then there's no telling what would happen.
"Well, that's the reason that we're going to continue extending our hand out to them before anything like that happens. And branching the Kibou Alliance to other locations where Sacred Gear or Special Power users are."
"That's pretty ambitious. Well, it'll sure gather from interesting people if that's the case."
Azazel said, wondering what the Kibou Alliance would turn into in the future.
"Oh, it's Maria-sama and Lingqi-sama?"
Ravel pointed out as Maria seemed to land on the ground holding two holy swords in her hands.
"…."
She looked prepared with sweat dripping down her forehead, but looked prepared. Not long passed until Lingqi came down, bringing down her curled fingers. Maria crossed her swords, blocking the hit, causing a shockwave that seemed to be absorbed by the swords.
"…?"
It wasn't unnoticed by Lingqi, as the two kept fighting against each other in close range, stepping back, she kept facing Maria with relentless yet precise attacks. Her fingers were still curled as Lingqi kept attacking similarly to a tigress attacking prey. It wasn't limited to clawing attacks, this included kicking attacks that were sharp enough that it seemed to cut the air. Maria leaped back to avoid the attacks but felt the attack scraped against her skin.
Maria was someone who wouldn't get into close-quarters combat, but after learning to control Ki, she wanted to reach the same level as Kensei and Lingqi. So, Maria asked the latter to fight her in far more intense direct combat, while preparing to face other Power-types. However, in comparison to others, Lingqi was a Power-type closer to a Technique-type, meaning there was no doubt that her attacks would hit as accurately as possible.
"Well, that's the reason I made these."
Maria thought, holding the right sword in her hand as Lingqi went in for another attack. Just as she avoided that attack, leaping in another direction, she took her right sword and then swung it right at Lingqi.
"…!"
Just before that happened, Lingqi felt a dangerous presence from the sword as her instincts started to inform her about something dangerous. A holy aura stronger than anything she felt before from the sword was radiating. Just as Maria released that slash, Lingqi relaxed her entire body and then performed a perfect split on the ground, barely avoiding it as the holy slash slammed against a nearby mountain causing that side to crumble.
"Well, even I wasn't expecting that kind of dodge."
Maria pointed out, knowing that in terms of motor skills and flexibility, no other woman was a match for Lingqi. She reacted on the ground, turning her body around on the ground, and then in one swift move leaped into the air as Maria aimed her right sword at the airborne Lingqi. Reacting to that, Lingqi twisted her body around, not aiming at the guard, not the blade itself.
It looked like a faint kick, but the force behind it almost knocked Maria's arm in another direction, not to the point of causing actual damage. But, knocked her off balance before she could react, she felt Lingqi's leg wrap around her right arm without difficulties, keeping it there. After landing on the ground with her hands, she launched Maria into the air.
"Yeah, fighting her was a good idea," Maria stated, creating a floating sword that she landed on top of to regain her bearings. "I don't think anyone could realistically adapt to Lingqi."
"Let's say, we take five."
Lingqi suggested holding up her hand.
"Agreed."
Maria agreed, leaping off her floating sword and landing on the ground.
The two have been training like this for almost an hour and a half straight, putting their hands on their hip, and breathing. Like the others, the two were dressed in training attire that consisted of sportswear no different from what athletes wore. But, even in their sweaty state, their beauty wasn't hindered, let alone damaged in the slightest.
"Besides, it seems as if we attracted a crowd."
Lingqi pointed in the direction where Kensei and the others were.
"Right, we were having that tour. And then Kensei volunteered to hold it."
Maria stated, retrieving a towel and water from another dimension, taking a drink of the water, then letting out a satisfied breath.
"Yeah. And as Lingqi said, you guys impressed some people."
Kensei stated, pointing at said people.
"That was so awesome! I want to learn to fight like that!"
Ruruko said, appearing near them with sparkling eyes.
"Well, sure, all you need is some training. Plus, Zane is planning on aiding your group."
Lingqi replied, smiling at her enthusiasm.
"Those were some good moves."
Tsubasa said, wearing a smile.
"…Ah, it was nothing."
Lingqi replied, surprisingly finding herself scratching the back of her had from the praise. She wasn't too used to compliments like that which was something that Kensei who was watching couldn't help but find cute.
"Aw, it's cute seeing our White Tigress act all adorable and flustered."
"…!"
Lingqi became flustered, then reacted, by punching him at full force, which Kensei then blocked by crossing his arms together. But, the force sent him flying off in another direction, laughing despite him crashing into a mountain.
"Hahah, worth it!"
Kensei said without fear.
"…!"
He looked to find that Lingqi leaped straight at him with her fists covered in Qi. It was then the group all witnessed several mountains crumbling from the young woman's punches, as Kensei avoided all of them while laughing.
"So, Ise do you think you'll ever use Dress Break on Lingqi?"
Azazel asked, teasingly after witnessing the young woman's punching power caused by a simply teasing compliment.
"…."
Issei almost felt fear from that thought, knowing full well she was an ideal woman in body type. But, the thought of taking a punch from her seemed way worse than Koneko's punches. And all of this was from a compliment.
"…I like her."
Koneko said, smiling at that, not worried about Kensei as something like this could be considered a simple 'roughhousing' for them. A Dragon having fun, and the Tiger became flustered and chased them, which continued for fifteen minutes straight until the two stopped. However, Kensei could still see Lingqi was pouting from being teased.
Their tour and explanation of the training room continued for a while before moving on to the next destination. More and more, the Gremory and Sitri Group started seeing the reason that so many of the leaders and officials from other factions were so interested in the Kibou Alliance. The entire team was a close-knit group almost like a big family and innovative enough to explore all possibilities no one else thought of.
As promised, after the tour was done, Kensei introduced them to an establishment, a buffet that the Kibou Team had gone to more than once. There the Gremory and Sitri Group found themselves looking at the good selections of food and desserts, proceeding to get their plates before they returned to their tables.
"Wow, this stuff looks so good."
Ruruko said, smiling.
"Say, ah, Gen-chan~"
Momo said smiling, holding up some food in her fork and front of him.
"A-Ahh."
Saji nervously opened his mouth, not knowing what to think.
But, he allowed Momo to feed him still, agreeing that the food was delicious, and liked the feeling of a woman feeling him. Ruruko looked at what was happening with a pout, feeling jealous about what was going on.
"I'll feed Gen-senpai too!"
Ruruko said, holding up food herself, almost as if Momo ignited her competitive spirit.
Staring at this caused Saji to become worried due to the interactions between them, although, this time it was more them having utensils in their hands.
"Well, it looks like they're becoming closer."
Zane said, sitting down at the table with Sona and Lena while watching them.
"Yeah. It's a good thing for them. I noticed that Ruruko had a crush on Saji for a while, but it looks as if Momo developed feelings for him after the Rating Game."
Sona replied, eating the pasta she got with the elegance one would expect for a High-Class Devil.
"That's good. I can see that Saji has a lot of good traits from the Rating Game."
Zane pointed out.
"Though, he does look like a pervert like the Sekiryuutei."
Lena bluntly pointed out, while cutting her steak, causing Zane and Sona to give a wry reaction.
"Hm, Zane. I was talking to Lena about it. And I was wondering what would you think about entering a Magician's pact with me?"
"I wouldn't mind it. It's not the oddest thing. I did receive a similar suggestion from Seekvaira."
"Is that so?"
Sona asked, recalling that Zane and her did meet during the last meeting in the Underworld. But, she didn't catch that part of the conversation, not that she was around for the entire thing.
"Hm, well I don't think there are rules about Devils making contracts with the same Magician. Plus, I would expect that both of them have contacts with other Magicians too."
"It isn't abnormal. But, the contract that I did make with a Magician was under a time condition that was from years prior. I guess the same could be said about Seekvaira."
Sona explained.
"Well, I do have some research that the two of you would be interested in. I did get a particular sense of familiarity with Seekvaira," Zane stated, not hinting as to what that 'familiarity' was about. "Plus, I do think that I can improve the magic in those glasses."
"Oh, of course, you'd notice. The magic isn't that impressive, but I do treasure them. The Magician I contracted with was an old man, but I learned about from him and all he wanted was the means of medically extending his life a bit longer to complete and catalog his research."
"Well, if that's the case, then I could enhance them without touching or removing anything he did to them. There's no issue with that."
"If you don't mind, could you come with me to see him? He said he wanted to see me one last time, and I do think he'd like to meet you."
"I don't mind. I'm interested in meeting him too, because you think so highly of him."
Zane replied, smiling and wondering what Sona's contracted magician was like.
"Hm, well everyone seems to be enjoying themselves."
Kensei stated, eating a barbecued steak, sitting with his team, not counting Minako and Koneko who joined them at the table. Surprisingly enough, the white-haired Nekoshou was eating a meal of both meat and desserts. Despite her small build, it made them wonder how she could handle eating that much without a stomach ache.
"It was a good idea to give them a tour, Kensei."
Claire said, similar to Ravel, Rias, Akeno, and Sona, she was eating elegantly without mistake.
"Yeah. Plus, they are some good people."
Lingqi said, eating the same as Kensei and Koneko.
It was surprising to see people eating so much meat-based meals but continuing to look the way they do. Of course, no one was aware that one adapted perfectly to the blood of a Dragon, the other was born with a body that could be considered the most ideal for Humans, and even the other was a special Nekomata; though the latter was a bit unique.
"…it was cool seeing where you all worked," Koneko stated. "I heard about the things you guys had to go through, but you were still trying to push through and become stronger. It was real cool."
The people there could see and tell that Koneko meant it while giving them a cute and honest smile, which caused them to smile.
"Heh, hearing that from a student of mine makes me happy," Kensei said, noticing something then reached his hand to Koneko. "And you got a little sauce on your face."
"…!"
Koneko blushed brightly, feeling Kensei wiping the sauce off of her face, his thumb brushing against her lip. She looked down, looking adorably flushed as Kensei licked his thumb before wiping off the residue with a napkin.
"You just love embarrassing people, don't you?"
Lingqi asked, tilting her head to the side as she looked at him with half-lidded eyes.
"Can't help it. Your reactions are too cute."
Kensei replied, causing Lingqi to blush and glance to the side.
"You should be careful. Lingqi's reactions to that are acting physically, Kensei."
"Hmm."
"Hm-hm."
Alice and Claire nodded their heads.
"Speaking of the tour, wasn't Asia-sama a little more silent?"
Ravel asked, curiously.
"Hm, now that you mention it. She didn't say much or look around either."
Kensei said, thinking back to the reactions Asia had often, being either silent or acting as if she was enjoying herself. It did look as if she was interested in the Kibou Alliance, but it looked as if she was thinking about something else.
"…that is because of Diodora Astaroth."
Koneko replied, calming down after hearing that conversation.
"Hm, you mean that shady guy during that meeting? And is competing in the Youth Tournament too?"
Kensei asked.
"What did he do?"
Ravel asked.
"After we returned to the Underworld, he was waiting in Kuoh Town for Asia-senpai. He was the Devil she got kicked out of the Church for healing."
Koneko replied, surprising them.
"Hm, really what kind of coincidence is that? And why did he wait all that time just to talk to her? He would have known that she was in Rias' peerage from the time of her Rating Game with Riser."
Claire asked, finding the entire thing suspicious.
"And he happened to be near the Church."
Alice added.
"Ravel, do Devils often go near the Church?"
Lingqi asked.
"No, as children we're strictly taught to avoid any location related to the Church. I know Rias-sama's territory is near a Church, but…," Ravel started, but kept herself from talking. "Oh, I'm sorry, Claire-sama."
"It's fine. But, she's right. Based on what I remember, there were a lot of conditions there. Besides, that was still within Shintoism's territory, which is almost neutral land where no conflict should happen."
Claire replied.
Ravel heard about and was well aware of what happened in Claire's childhood, the only person who didn't know was Koneko due to the unique circumstances.
"Well, this is shady. We already thought that he was faking being respectful, but now he broke basic rules and happened to meet Asia, who happened to become another Devil's Bishop. I doubt he's the adventurous type."
"Hm, does this technically involve us?"
Kunou asked.
"No, but if he does do something then that'll affect Ajuka-san since they're related. And in the eyes of the Underworld, he'll be responsible is Diodora does do something. If that's the case then what he does in the future, including the business with us may be interfered with. Let's face it those Old Devils already don't like us, and might look for an excuse to interfere with us."
Listening to him, they could understand his reasons for it.
"So, should we do some investigation?"
"Ah, you guys will be the ones who'll need to do some digging."
Kensei replied, knowing there was something else he'd be doing.
"Why, oh right."
Claire replied, knowing what that meant.
"Right, I'm going out with Brynhildr tomorrow," Kensei stated, with some recalling that promised date on the weekend after their summer break. "But, I doubt that it'll be that much effort looking into one possibly arrogant and entitled guy. We've dealt with harder stuff as kids."
[Right.]
His teammates agreed, with then continued with another conversation as they ate in peace.
A/N: And there goes the next chapter of DxD – The Last Amagiri, first shown fighting against Hikage, who received advanced weapons from Yami, but didn't pose much of a threat. But, someone, the figure did put up a fight against Kensei for a time before teleporting with the people to complete their business. Also, it continued with them giving the Gremory and Sitri Group, including Azazel and Irina a tour of their base in Kibou Town. In the end, Kensei takes them out to a meal, learning about Diodora's connection with Asia from Koneko, and has a date with Brnyhildr next.
Kensei's Harem: Alice, Claire, Hisui, Kunou, Yasaka, Lu Lingqi, Sarah, Minako, Koneko, Kuroka, Ravel, Amaterasu, Brynhildr, Rossweisse, Ophis, Misaki.
