'Adam…has forgotten?' Lilith thought dumbfounded at what she realized.

Lilith's hold on her weapon weakened ever so slightly. It was small, yet it was enough for Adam and freed his weapon from locking itself with hers.

Lilith dodged an incoming strike from her left, Adam's golden axe cleaving through the air with lightning quick speed.

Lilith retaliated with a quick firing of a fire spell.

A small fireball came into existence in her hand before it fired itself at Adam directly hitting his right shoulder aiming to cause him to stop his assault on Lilith.

It didn't.

The fireball hardly did any damage, only enough to make any continued attacks with his right hand a fraction of a second slower.

And so with an annoyed grunt, Adam switched his golden axe from his right to his left. He was ambidextrous afterall, such an injury only inconvenienced him at the most.

And so his onslaught continued

His strikes, not losing any momentum behind them.

Each being struck with the same strength that they always held before

At any other time, Lilith would retaliate with equal strength.

Her strikes and retaliations against Adam never fell short in comparison.

And yet now.

Her strikes were slower.

Her spells conjured with more difficulty.

Her focus wasn't in the fight.

Her mind was in a whirl of confusion.

'Has he really forgotten?' Lilith thought, not truly believing it.

She searched his face, his eyes, for any sign, anything that would prove her wrong.

In between each strike, each slash, each retaliation made by the both of them, Lilith eyes scanned through Adam's features through the broken mask that he wore.

Nothing.

There was truly nothing.

Not a hint of anger nor rage could be seen.

All Lilith saw was annoyance and perhaps a hint of frustration.

But not anger, not rage.

Not like what she once saw him have from before.

Not like the burning hatred that she knew he held for her once.

No true anger could be seen.

Oh sure Adam's face could be seen as one of 'rage' but it wasn't anything compared to before.

The face of anger he wore was forced.

Artificial.

As if he was only doing so because he thought he should do so.

Adam…has truly forgotten Eden…just like her.

It was wrong.

It felt so wrong.

Lilith stood in the ruined remains of the Embassy. The floor was littered in ruined remains of the furniture. Documents lay scattered on the floor, some even being burned into ashes. The walls, threatening to collapse in on itself.

Her fight with Adam had ended hours ago. Ending in the same way it has always ended, with Sera putting a stop to their senseless fighting before it tore the Embassy beyond repair.

Her job here was done.

She should be home by now.

And yet here she was, stood still in the room Adam and her had ruined hours ago.

Her mind was still reeling from what she had come to realize hours ago.

Adam had truly forgotten Eden just like her.

What she felt was wrong

What she was feeling was wrong.

And yet she couldn't help it.

At the realization that Adam had forgotten…Lilith felt nothing but a strong sense of relief.

She wasn't alone.

She wasn't alone in her plight.

She wasn't the only one to feel the same helplessness that plagued her for centuries.

The sorrow she felt.

The anguish that she held.

The rage at her circumstances.

She wasn't alone.

Sure, Lucifer had also been afflicted with the same plight.

But she felt no comfort at the fact.

It wasn't the same.

It didn't feel the same.

Lucifer was an angel.

Eden while it was a paradise for the first of mankind.

To Lucifer it was simply a project.

One of many he had contributed alongside the Seraphim.

It was significant to Lucifer but not on the same level as her.

Eden was more than just a paradise to Lilith.

Eden was her home.

One she held dearly in her heart.

The very moment she had forgotten it.

The very moment she began to fail to even recall what it looked like.

Was it an idyllic forest? One where many flora flourished.

Was it a sprawling grassland? One where many animals of all kinds roamed.

Was it a vast mountain range? One that held breathtaking views at every angle.

She didn't know.

She can never know anymore.

And that realization pained her so much.

Made her scream in anguish for many nights.

But now?

The pain lessened.

The pain was more manageable.

It still hurt.

Still stung her heart.

But she could endure it better.

Because now she wasn't alone.

Because now someone felt the same pain.

Someone that held Eden in the same pedestal as her.

Someone that was her supposed equal.

Someone that she knew would be as hurt as her from this plight.

It felt wrong but the sense of relief she felt soothed her heart.

She didn't know what to do with this realization.

What to make of what she had come to know.

Adam was suffering like she did.

And yet she felt no sadistic joy in that fact.

She was happy that much was certain but it was in the way one would be happy in knowing they were not alone in their pain.

That they weren't suffering alone.

That their pain wasn't unique to them.

That something wasn't wrong with them.

She felt no joy in knowing Adam suffered.

Not in the way many would think she should.

Many believed that she hated Adam and that Adam hated her.

The entirety of creation believed it.

From the lowest of rings of hell to the highest peaks of heaven.

All believed in one of the many facts of creation.

That Adam and Lilith hated each other.

Despised each other.

She should be happy that he was suffering.

That even in heaven, a place free of the pain of earth, he was suffering.

But she didn't.

She truly didn't enjoy the realization of his pain.

A year has passed and yet another Extermination Day was occurring.

Another day of slaughter.

Another day of corpses piling atop one another, filling the streets and buildings of the bodies of sinners.

It was a massacre.

One would think that as the Queen of Hell she would feel anger over this.

That the very thought of her people being slaughtered would enrage her.

But it didn't.

The sinners were anything but her people.

Once upon a time she would've gladly accepted them as her people, citizens of her kingdom.

But that time has passed.

As humanity progressed so did their sins.

As each generation passed the more they sinned.

The more they cared less about being good.

The more they prioritized indulging in their vices.

Their sins became more depraved, more unforgivable, more sickening.

It got to a point that Cain and the rest of the first sinners practically looked like saints in comparison. Not even they could stomache the idea of interacting with the sinners. Nor do they even see them as family.

Lilith was curious.

Extermination Day was still happening, only 12 hours having passed since they started.

Lilith had never watched how the angels slaughtered sinners. She had never thought to even entertain the very idea of watching afterall she wasn't like the sinners that liked the sight of people dying even if they deserved it.

But she grew curious.

Curious about Adam.

Of what he did, of how he felt killing his own descendants.

Back then she didn't bother with such thoughts of Adam.

Adam was simply…Adam for the lack of better terms.

Adam was one of three of the humans that named all of creation.

Adam was her supposed equal.

Adam was her ex-husband.

Adam was her colleague in the needless job after every Extermination Day.

Adam was Adam.

She didn't try to think further nor did she feel it necessary.

She already knew all that was needed to know of Adam.

Even if she forgot what Adam was like in Eden.

She knew it wouldn't have helped.

Who was to say Adam was the same as when he was in Eden.

Who was to say that even knowing more about him would've helped.

And as for asking him about Eden?

Lilith knew he wouldn't have helped her just like Cain wouldn't help her. And even if he did he would've said things from his perspective. From his own biased opinion. With a dash of profanities here and there.

It truly wouldn't have helped.

But as of late she grew more curious about him.

Upon the realization from the last Extermination Day, she became more inclined to know more.

Was it sympathy?

A sort of kinship born from the same pain?

She didn't truly know the reason but she was curious.

Really curious.

And with how little time she spent with Adam, watching him during Extermination Day was one of the few times she gets to observe him.

And so here she was on her balcony. The view of Pentagram City laid in front of her.

And goodness was it truly a massacre.

The angels, the Exorcists clad in their gray uniform with spears, swords and halberds made of angelic steel in hand, were everywhere.

Every street.

Every building.

Every inch of Pentagram City was littered with them.

Like a swarm of locusts on a field of crops, they were everywhere.

Stabbing, slashing and, severing the bodies of sinners alike.

The sinners were helpless as their bodies piled onto each other.

And at the very center of this slaughter was Adam.

He was difficult to miss.

His golden wings and larger body made him stand out.

He cleaved through buildings.

His golden axe cutting through them like butter.

Each strike caused untold amounts of damage in the city.

And as he did so, he laughed.

Laughed at the sinners.

Laughed as he caused the city the sinners built to crumble from his attacks.

Laughed and mock them for the scum that they were.

And yet as Lilith listened to his laughter, his taunts and mockery to the sinners he slew, she couldn't help but listen to it with curiosity.

She listened again and again trying her best not to be mistaken and yet his continued laughter sounded the same as before.

Lilith was confused.

'Why…why does his laughter sound so…hollow?'
