Chapter 10

IGPX

I was a big fan of this show back in the day, so I wanted to make a story that didn't involve as much of the same kinds of fighting. Also, I wanted to make at least one story where Izuku isn't the lead for the story. And the only person I could think was close to Takashi in some ways was Denki. So he's the lead for this tale. And we'll see one of his races today. On with the show.

"All right students. I know a few of you just arrived, but we should wrap up for the night. We'll watch this next story before going we call it a night." Nezu says before sipping on his drink. Aizawa and All Might agree, noting they all had training in the morning. All of the students agreed and settled into the next story. With Denki vibrating in his seat at what he could be doing in this other world.

The screen is mostly black with a trio of red, yellow, and blue lines across it. It then starts in on rocking music, before cutting to the three focused characters. First running in a tracksuit and also having a cat next to her, is Melissa Shield. Behind her is a mech with pointed arms and a thinner look and build. Practicing a few martial arts moves with a heavier and more solid built mech, is Itsuka Kendo. While Denki Kaminari is more serious looking with a katana in hand and slicing a few times, with a mech behind him that seems to be a middle ground between the two mechs.

"Whoa those things look awesome!" Denki comments while fidgeting in his seat. The rest of the teens agree, and even the teachers are enjoying this new world. Especially at the fact it seemed less life or death involved for these people. Itsuka was surprised that she was teammates with the second perv of class 1-A but she shrugged past it.

"Hey it's Melissa!" Ochaco says with surprise. Izuku and the rest who went to I-Island are also surprised by the inventor girl's appearance in a multiverse. Though a few weren't complaining. All Might especially was surprised to see his niece, in what appeared to be a battle and racing sport.

The image shifts a few more times, showing two teams of mechs on the raceway. Then cutting to the rest of the team that are wearing jackets with similar colors to the mechs on the raceway. The coach of the team on the far left is Shouta Aizawa, though looking a bit heftier. The mechanic next to him is Higari Majima who is also a bit bigger in build. In the center is the assistant to the team owner, Ochaco Uraraka. Said owner is Momo Yaoyorozu standing next to the girl. And at the far right is the reserve member Monoma Neito.

Itsuka snorts before saying that Monoma is once again a background character. This gets a few more laughs from the audience with a few not sure if they should feel bad.

The image then cuts to the track again, this time with the mechs fighting against each other and the chanting of "IGPX" Behind it. With the final cut of the racers jumping out at the end of the theme song.

"That was a badass start for a show. Guess this is all about this IGPX. Whatever that stands for." Kirishima says before taking a drink of his soda. Izuku then pipes up by saying, "I think it was shown on some of the logos. Immortal Grand Prix. Guess that makes Kaminari a racer in this world." A few others nod, with Ida being a bit excited for this.

He wouldn't tell anyone but he was actually a big fan of racing games and even some other racing sports. 'They may not have the same appeal anymore thanks to quirks, but that doesn't make certain racing sports and racing anime interesting and exciting.' Ida thinks to himself.

Once the song is done, the first image shown is the view of the racetrack from a blimp like set up high above the raceway. It then drifts down to the racetrack, and the first machine seen is piloted by Denki Kaminari. He comes around a curve, and his mech appears to be almost skating on the track.

This gets a few of the members of the audience on the edge of their seats. Some even vibrate in place. "Something tells me this is gonna be good!" Denki says while tapping his foot.

After a few more aerial shots, the image comes back to the machine before drifting over the Yaoyorozu name on the arm. Suddenly a green mech is shown and seems to be catching up with Denki's machine. "Denki! Right behind you!" Itsuka shouts out. Denki then turns and says "exactly!" right as the enemy machine is about to strike.

Denki just has a big smile thinking he's going to the big hero this time. Not Izuku. "Come on other me! Show us what you can do!" Bakugo though is just annoyed and scoffing at fact the blonde idiot is the lead this time. 'When do I get my shot!' Bakugo thinks to himself.

He then counters the attack quickly and the subsequent attacks from the opposing mech. Before shouting, "way too slow dude!" and knocks the enemy away. The machine rights itself and tries to catch up again. With Itsuka noting they were coming into the spiral portion of the racetrack. While still in the spiral, Melissa calls out, "Denki! Their forward's closing in! Five o'clock!" Right as she is saying this, the green machine puts its hands together into a kind of blade like form and strikes at Denki.

Aizawa frowns before saying, "you seem a bit too cocky here Kaminari." Jiro then quips, "its no different from the fight at the USJ. He's overconfident after just one attack." Denki comments that they were rude, while a few of the others get a laugh.

But Denki crosses his arms before turning and deflecting the blow. And then sending the enemy back with a solid punch to its midsection. Denki then turns back again and focuses on getting as far ahead as he can.

Denki's smirk widens before pointing to the screen. As if to say 'I told you', to the others who were doubting him. Jiro though rolls her eyes before watching the action again. Most of the audience though is excited to see what the action could be like.

But unfortunately, the opposing team catches up quick to Denki and his teammates chagrin. Before the other enemy mechs can engage him, Itsuka and Melissa engage the opposing machines as well. While they are, Denki moves ahead. "Wait for us! Slow down Denki!" the girls call out in frustration. "Melissa its now or never!" Denki says before saying he was winning this race.

Itsuka gives a frustrated sigh before saying, "not much of a team player there. Surprised this isn't Bakugo." "What did you say Man Hands!?" Bakugo shouts from the side. Denki though gives a chuckle before saying sorry for his other self.

The scene then cuts to Hizashi Yamada who comments by saying, "OH! There he goes again! Yaoyorozu must be the most disorganized team I've ever seen in the IG2. What a total lack of teamwork! Well we're in the final moments of the race folks. Which of these two teams will take the CROWN!?"

"Again, Mic's role here is not surprising." Aizawa says before sitting back. Nezu agrees, before wondering if the rest of them will have a role in this world. All Might scratches his chin before questioning if anyone has a quirk in that world. "Probably not. They all seem…. Well normal. Maybe that is why this is so interesting and an attraction." Izuku says with an analytical eye. Ida agrees noting that most so far appeared to be average, from the team members to the few showed in the theme song.

Not long after he says that, Denki puts it all out with his mech and takes first place in the race. "And it looks like the checkered flag goes to the young pilots of team Yaoyorozu! Well done. Denki Kaminari holds 'em off for the win. Okay folks lets go to the big board and announce the IG2 champion!" Hizashi quickly looks to the side, before shouting "Team Yaoyorozu's won the IG2! This win bumps them up a level to the IG1! Congratulations Yaoyorozu! You've hit the big leagues!"

"Yeah! I won it!" Denki shouted while jumping up from his seat. A few of the others clap at not just the win, but the team moving up to the next league of competition.

As Hizashi is finishing saying this, Denki is getting out of his machine. He takes off his helmet and shows his dark blonde hair pushed down around his head. But then one tuft on the side of his head perks out.

Jiro snorts before saying, "okay, that's kind of adorable." Denki blushes a bit, though Jiro blushes brighter when she realizes she said that out loud.

They are then interviewed after the race with Momo taking the questions and answering that they were glad and that she was proud of the team.

A few nod before saying that makes sense for her to be the lead sponsor. "Though why did you create a racing team in the first place Yaomomo?" Mina says with a puzzled look on her face. Momo shrugs before mentioning that it could be a legacy or something team. "And I'm just the newest to lead the team or something." Momo says before turning back to the screen.

But then it cuts to Itsuka chewing out Denki in the locker room. "I can't believe I have to say this again. But are you ever going to learn you can't just leave us in the dust like that Denki!" Said person just laughs it off before saying he gets a bit crazy out on the track. This just infuriates Itsuka more. Though she seems to drop it for a second.

Itsuka facepalms before saying, "I can't be seriously about to let go of lecturing that idiot!" "Hey!" Denki says, though he knows his other self probably deserves it.

"You for real!?" Itsuka shouts before noting that they were all in the race together. Denki just brushes this off, while Melissa tries to calm Itsuka down by noting that they did win. "I know we won Melissa. But golden boy here is never gonna change his attitude if every time he screws up you want to let him slide!" Itsuka says before going into a Confucius saying.

Denki twists his head to the side and asks, "what does that even mean?" Mineta then snorts before saying, "how much you want to bet his other self will say the same thing?" Sato and Shoji think he won't, while Tokoyami and Hitoshi both say he'll ask something else.

"What does that even mean?" Denki asks and Itsuka tries to tell him that he has to be a team player. Though Denki again brushes this off. While Melissa again tries to calm down Itsuka.

"Called it." Mineta says with a smirk. The others who bet otherwise paid up with a grumble. While Izuku and Ochaco note that Melissa seems to be the peacemaker of the team. "Though what's with the cat?" Ochaco asks with a confused look.

Then Monoma comes up and comments on Denki's movements. Saying he would have handled the last lap better. Denki smirks before saying, "oh you think so?" "Yeah I might be on the bench now. But sooner or later man, I'll be a starter." Monoma says dismissively.

Itsuka then notes that this Monoma is just like theirs. "Always looking to stand at the head or bragging himself up to be the best for a team." Her fellow 1-B members nod while thinking back on their blonde classmate's rants.

Itsuka then gets on Monoma's case about talking to Denki like he was. But then it starts a short three-way argument, while Momo walks in. She gets an angry look before saying, "KNOCK IT OFF!"

"Yeah I'd shut up and listen if I were you. She does own your asses." Jiro comments with a smirk. This gets a few chuckles from the rest of the audience. While Momo is just blushing at the way Jiro phrased that.

"I just told the entire world: this team's got what it takes to be champions. But right now it seems like our biggest obstacle is ourselves. This is the IG1. To win here we'll need more than just dumb luck." Momo says before commenting that she needs to get sponsors soon. Ochaco meanwhile tries to offer her help in any way she can.

Mina then hugs Ochaco, saying, "even in another world, you are just so peppy and helpful!" Ochaco blushes but agrees with her friend's assessment.

Aizawa though is quick to comment that they'll all be lucky to survive in the league. Which brings down the entire room.

Mina and Ochaco then deflate a bit before the former says, "think we'll ever see a version of Aizawa who isn't overly critical of everything?" "Probably not!" the rest of class 1-A say out loud. While said teacher gives them a stink eye look before rolling his eyes.

A few scenes are shown with the members either practicing, training, relaxing, studying or preparing the machines for the upcoming challenges of the IG1.

"Well done all of you! Staying ready for whatever challenges await in the races to come!" Ida says, while a few of them are looking at him strangely. "Ida… are you really interested in this one?" Izuku says with some surprise. Ida coughs before saying he finds racing interesting. A few want to question him a bit more but they shrug past it.

The scene then cuts to the opening ceremonies for the next IGPX season. First introducing Team Yaoyorozu, then noting each of the other teams competing in the top league for the cup this year. With Denki being distracted by team Skylark's lead racer Pony Valjean.

"You bastard! Bad enough you get close with two hot girls like them, but you've got your eye on that hot guk!" Mineta says before both Itsuka and Izuku chop him hard on top of the head. Aizawa sighs before mentioning they need to have a talk with Mineta as well.

"Careful. You're drooling on your suit." Itsuka comments with a flat look. Though Denki barely notes she was talking. Then Hizashi introduces Team Sledge Mama, with the lead pilot Enji Yamma. "Unfortunately, they weren't the fastest team last year." Hizashi comments but shuts up when Enji gives him a glare.

Shoto smirks before saying, "so he's still not the number one in another universe. Good." Izuku and Ida then give nervous chuckles while the rest seem intimidated by the look that the other Enji was giving the camera.

He then introduces the top team, Team Velshtein. With the lead pilot, Keigo "Cunningham" Hume. Also known as the Ghost. Hizashi then asks who Cunningham has his eye on this season. "Yeah, there is one. Denki. Denki Kaminari of team Yaoyorozu." Cunningham says with a patient nod.

Shoto this time huhs, before saying, "so the number two, is actually the number one in that world." "And Kaminari of all people has his attention. Why is that?" Sato says while scratching his head. The rest have no clue, while said blonde is happy to have the top racer interested and keeping an eye on him.

"We've never faced each other, but he's got a style I've never seen. I'm looking forward to the match up. I think it's going to be a whole lot of fun." Cunningham says, and Hizashi leaves the matter at that. And the rest of the reception and party can get underway. Then scene then cuts to the start of a race, and Hizashi gives the rundown of how an IGPX race is run. "Each team has one forward, one midfielder, and one defender. They must complete three laps around this sixty-mile course at speeds approaching 400 mph. The first three pilots across the finish line receive the lion's share of the points. And the last three….. well you don't want to be them."

"Interesting. And impressive. At that speed, loosing control at any time let alone not being careful how you control the machine could lead to disastrous consequences. Then there is the battle element that seems to be a part of the race as well…" oddly enough it isn't the green haired hero who is going on this ramble. But the class president of 1-A.

Izuku and the rest look at him oddly, before Tetsutetsu says, "I thought Midoriya was the only one who did that." Izuku chuckles before trying to snap Ida out of it.

With that the mechs of team Sledge Mama and Yaoyorozu stand at the starting line. Itsuka says, "our mechs may not be state of the art, but we can take these guys no problem. The only problem we have to deal with is our crazy forward." "I never liked you!" Denki says with a laugh.

This gets a few laughs as well with Denki and Itsuka both looking to each other. They nod before the latter says, "we may argue, but at least we can banter and have a bit of fun." "Yeah. Sorry my other self is kinda self-centered." Denki says while scratching his head.

Itsuka smiles within her machine before saying they could still win. With Melissa and her cat Luca agreeing. The countdown begins and the lights on the track turn to the green light. And with that the race begins. 'to be continued!'

With that done, a few groan that they wished they could see more. Denki being the most vocal. Nezu claps before saying they needed to call it a night. But then the tv lights up again. Screaming is heard, as well as rumbles and what sound akin to monstrous roars are heard from the screen. The image cuts to a young Izuku and his mother running along the road.

"What the heck is going on here?" Ochaco says with a nervous voice. A few of the others agree with Mirio holding Eri close. Suddenly, a man catches the two Midoriya's attention. "Hold up! Stop! Listen, I need your help!" he says. He is wearing a strange suit and has a panicked and worried look on his face. Inko gulps before asking what they can help him with. "Its not you I need ma'am. I need the kid. And I need him to come with me now!" Inko is worried about what this strange man is saying and denies him at first.

Most of the people nod and say that the guy seems nuts. "What the heck could that useless Deku be?" Bakugo says with a dismissive tone. A few who remember what Izuku said about Bakugo's bullying turn to the explosive blonde and glare at him. He is about to shout, but a new pair of glares stop him. Those of Aizawa and Nezu.

The man has his hands up and he looks strained before saying, "Sorry. But I can't take no for an answer." He then draws a pistol from his back and points it at the two. "Holy Shit!" a lot of the audience shout as a few panic and worry for Izuku. Even Bakugo is freaking out a bit. 'Don't mess with auntie Inko!' He shouts in his mind. Izuku meanwhile is scared for his other self in this next dimension.

While both are panicking, the man rushes forward and knocks Izuku out. "Sorry about this you two, but I need his help. If I don't have it… we're all gonna die." Inko can barely process what has happened before the man runs away with Izuku over his shoulder. "Okay what!? Stakes are that dire? Does it have to do with the roars and rumbling going on? What can this other Izuku do to help this crazy guy?" Are what a few of the audience comments are. All Might though is wishing he was there and could stop the man.

He runs for a few blocks back to a wrecked building. As well as the remains of a massive monster. At the sight of the massive creature, all of the audience are slack jawed. "What….. the ever-loving Hell is that!?" Jiro is the first to shout, with others wondering what brought the monster down. All Might gulps before noting that even at his best, he wasn't sure he could take that beast down. That is when the man looks up at a different sight. A huge robot standing partially crashed into the side of a wrecked building. "I've got my other pilot. Let's do this Gipsy." The man says and the screen cuts to black.

"Okay what?! What the heck is Midoriya getting dragged into this time!?" Kirishima and Tetsutetsu shout. A few other mirror that thought while Izuku is wondering what new form of danger he was going to be involved in.

Nezu though claps his hands before saying, "All right, as exciting….. and frankly intriguing that next world is. All of you need to get some sleep." To emphasis this, Eri cutely yawns from Mirio's arms before her eyes droop a bit. The rest nod before heading out, while the 1-A class is nervous for what could be next for the greenette of their class.

So that was my way of setting up the next story, while this chapter is more relaxed. And if a few of you are interested in IGPX, check gogoanime for it. It's a good series, with some surprising actors. Meanwhile, I've got the plan for the next chapter already. And it could be another that'll become a separate story. Please review!
