The big day was happening… After five months of training and studying everything will pay off… she hopes… arriving at the school Ciana took a pause to look up at it. Very nervous about the big day for her… if she passes she will go to the school Izuku dreamed of and learn to be a real hero, if not… Izuku will go without her and be all alone… Ciana could still remember the dream as her grip on her backpack tightened at the memory. "Will I really be qualified to be a hero like everyone else here? A-am I even capable of something intense like this?"
Ciana asks herself, Ciana only knew a little how her power worked but at least be able to use it when someone needs it. Just how hard will this test be…?
"You'll be fine, but I'll admit..." Turning to the voice beside her, she met the gaze of an equally jittery greenette. "...I really can't stop shaking." Then he slumped a bit with an apologetic smile. "Sorry, I was held up for a bit," He lied, knowing that now, One For All was flowing through his veins... or his stomach. Just the reminder that he had to swallow a long hair made him shiver. "W-were you waiting long?"
Over the course of five months of back-breaking labour. Izuku had watched Ciana undergo her own training, she too had managed to master the breathing technique in half the time it took Izuku, combined with her new quirk, Aura, she had her plate full half the time. Now, she looked much stronger, even while wearing Aldera's uniform, he had seen it a few times, her toned muscles that he totally didn't find himself staring at longer than he should... nope, definitely not.
Ciana was definitely shaking herself as she still wasn't sure she would be qualified enough even with all the hard training she endured, she was actually surprised she was still able to stand… looking up at Izuku she smiled but looked more nervous. "I know you will make it into the school, I always believed it. But…" Cianas expression now became sad as her gaze turned to the sky, still thinking about the last dream.
"If… there's a chance I don't get in, promise that… you won't forget about me." Ciana sadly asks, her gaze going back to him with a sad and frightened smile.
That made the new successor blink as they stood at the gate to UA. "Huh? Why would I ever do that?" He said it like it was a stupid thing to even consider. Ciana was his best friend, his only friend, so to simply brush her off now would be an insult. But he knew her better now, there were times she made comments like these, and again, the night her quirk manifested properly he recalled how scared she was of him leaving her behind.
Without even hesitating, he briefly held her hand to squeeze it reassuringly, "We'll both make it, and... if you don't, then no matter what I'll still stick by you, that's what best friends do, right?" He cocked his head a bit with a smile.
Ciana was still afraid there's a chance she won't get in, but hearing Izuku's words and the squeeze of his hand was enough to make her relax. But the contact still had her always blushing, squeezing his hand back, Cianas nodded her head as she smiled a bit more but there was still a hint of fear in her eyes. "Yeah, exactly right. Thanks Izuku." Ciana smiled more at him.
Ever since that day they begun to hold hands more to practice her aura, Ciana had become more flustered around Izuku, her heart would race and have a funny feeling inside she hasn't made out yet… even to this day Ciana wondered what it was, but guessed it might just be how happy she is to have a real friend like him.
"Anytime," He nodded, and after letting go, the pair strolled through the gates and toward the entrance to the large building with various other students from across Japan.
"Stupid Deku, Blank," The two slowed their stroll to turn and find another in Aldera's uniform marching toward them with that death glare present. "Get outta my way before I set you both on fire," Katsuki warned as Izuku immediately banked left against Ciana.
"Ah, Kacchan, g-good morning, l-let's do our best out there, okay?" Izuku was still a little jumpy around Katsuki but again, the blonde said nothing and strolled right by without another word. "Huh..." Even Izuku was surprised.
"Just ignore him." Ciana tells him, smiling more reassuringly. "He obviously has his own goals to focus on and you should continue doing the same Izuku." Ciana tells him, not at all fazed or fearful of Bakugos attitude or threat.
"By the way I have been meaning to ask for a while now… why does he call you Deku? What does it even mean?" Ciana asked as her gaze turned to look more curious now of the name she heard Bakugo call him for a while.
"I... never told you?" In all this time, two major things had never occurred. One, Ciana had yet to even remotely come close to meeting Izuku's mother. And two, as he just learned, he never told her why he was called 'Deku'. In any other circumstance, Izuku would've clamped up, but after spending so much time with two big positives in his life, he didn't clamp up as much. "Well, it's not exactly a good thing - I know, surprise - see, 'Deku' is an abbreviation of the words Dekunobou and Dekiru. In other words, it means 'one who can't achieve/do anything', plus, my naming ending in 'ku' himself and others automatically tied my name with the term."
Ciana could guess the meaning was insulting… but sure it was a strange name, she knows very well that name doesn't fit his inscription, she crosses her arms as she puts on a dramatic sigh. "Well mr explody fists never could be more wrong about you, he sure has no idea what he's talking about." Ciana playfully says as her hands are now placed on her hips.
"If he ever watched how hard you worked for a big opportunity like this he so eat those words." She says, turning her gaze back on Izuku with a playful smile. "Besides, I think he's jealous sometimes that you have a pretty girl like me hanging out with you and not him."
Hearing this and the way she smiled made his heart warm up tenfold. Izuku... may or may not have found it really cute, "T-think so? Hah... that's definitely not like Kacchan, b-but I appreciate that," He laughed a bit, then waved. "Let's go then, I'm already surprised I made it thanks to the breathing technique," Izuku sighed, staring up at the school with a pensive expression. "I have to remember all the work All Might put in for me to make this far, and Ciana's support the whole time. I'm finally going to be a hero!" Izuku took one step and instantly caught his own foot. "Or I'll just die."
"Ah, Izu...ku?" Ciana's words stalled in her throat as the boy was not face planting the brick path, but rather, floated just above it.
"Sorry, you okay there?" Someone had touched his shoulder at the last second, suspending him in the air. The girl was short and slender yet curvaceous. She was fair-skinned with a perpetual blush on her cheeks. Her eyes were large and round, their irises a warm auburn brown, with rather thick upper eyelashes, and short, curled brown hair.
"Huh? Ah!" He blinked, moving his head around frantically as the girl giggled and helped him to stand upright again before tapping her fingers together, suddenly, the weightlessness was gone from his body. "I stopped you with my quirk, sorry I didn't ask first," She smiled politely. "But I figured you wouldn't mind me catching you, can't fall when it's not even the first real day at UA,"
Cianas eyes immediately widened with shock as she recognized this girl from her dream… she was one of the students Izuku was talking to, and was flustered around… Seeing the school was shocking enough it looked like the exact one in her dream but seeing the girl too was just so dejavu.
Ciana of course didn't want to be rude as she straightened up and smiled best she could. "Oh hi! Thanks for saving my friend there, he can't help being a klutz sometimes when he's excited or nervous about something." Ciana playfully says while smiling and rubbing the back of her neck in a shy manner.
"...you just had to throw me under the bus..." Izuku sighed while scratching his cheek. "B-but yes, um, thank you for catching me - so your quirk's gravity related?" He blinked, fascinated immediately by how it worked. Ciana was... surprised he wasn't stuttering at all.
"Hm, yep! Dunno how I'm gonna do, this is so nerve-wracking but we'll see," She kept her smile prominent before waving. "But hey, seeya inside you two!"
Izuku tried to stop her but she already skipped away, leaving him to mutter. "I really wanted to ask more about it, guess I'll wait..." Patting his trousers, he looked to Ciana. "Right, um, lady's first..." He really just wanted to take a moment to check his footing this time.
Ciana was quite taken back when he didn't stutter as much as she expected… But already she could see Izuku was starting to show interest in the new girl… it's not her place especially if this is a great opportunity for him to make friends, Ciana straightens up as she walks forward. "Why thank you kind gentleman." Ciana teases as she walks.
She gazes back to her friend when they begin to walk again. "She seems really nice… kinda looked like you were starting to hit it off with her, I don't think I ever see you not stutter around another girl like that before." Ciana teases with a giggle, she has to admit that girl looked like his type… she was pretty cute and cheerful, not to mention helpful the way she saved her friend like that… This left an uncomfortable twitch in her heart just imagining their relationship… "Why does that idea bother me so much…?" She couldn't help but ask herself in concern as she looked forward ahead of her.
"W-well, I honestly still feel really anxious around new people, b-but I think spending five months around an overly positive teacher and y-you has been helpful," He managed, smiling a little. "Sure I-I still stutter but I'm getting better at talking and... being normal? Is that the word?"
Ciana definitely could see he improved since they met, it definitely didn't go like how her vision went, but she felt proud of him that he improved even if he still has his shy side sometimes. "I always thought you were normal in my opinion, you just act really cute when you're anxious." Ciana giggles.
Izuku blushed a little at that, laughing slightly as they made their way through the halls to the first half of their exam, the written portion. "I-I'm not sure how that's c-cute but, uh, thanks?" He strained but it wasn't mocking, that was certain. "Well, here goes everything," Soon, they'd be in for the most important exam of their lives. "Good luck, by the way,"
Ciana became very nervous entering the room… shaking up just a tad bit, glancing back at Izuku with a nervous smile she nodded to wish him luck back. "You too! I know you can do it Izuku." She tells him honestly, smiling more at him before she begins to sit down.
"This is it… I have to remember all I learned for this… and remember my mom's words about doing what's right…" Ciana sets her stuff down as she now looks forward to the front.
With the written exam over, it was now time for the second half of their examination, the practical test. Every examinee flooded into a large lecture hall with an information card of their details and exam rooms, as well as a handout on the details of the exam. Izuku and Ciana ultimately found themselves sitting beside Katsuki but he didn't make a sound and got his glare fixed to the stage below as the spotlights came on around the edges with a large screen.
"What's up, UA candidates!? Thanks for tuning in to me, your school DJ! Come on, let me hear ya!" But like any social gathering of teens, none made a sound. Present Mic didn't seem deterred at all. "Keeping it mellow, huh? That's good, lemme skip straight to the point then! Let's talk about how this practical exam's gonna go down, okay!?" Once more, silence, but Izuku couldn't help but gush at seeing another Pro.
Ciana definitely didn't expect a wild kind of introduction like this… especially from someone who looked so wacky. "What's going on? Did this just turn into a game show…?" She asks herself.
"The Voice Hero, Present Mic, so cool!" He murmured to himself with a fanboy smile. "I listen to his radio broadcast every week, to think he's one of UA's teachers..."
Quickly noticing that Izuku was perking up at this weird guy just had her smile amusingly at him. "He's so cute…" Ciana giggles to herself at Izuku's excitement.
"Will you shut up," Katsuki grunted.
Ciana's smile went down when she hears the usual insult from Bakugo… leaning to the side to glare at the guy as usual. "Cool your jets hot shot, he's just excited. Nothing wrong with that."
Ciana turned her gaze back to Izuku, making sure to still listen to the Mic guy. "What's happening Izuku?" She asks him curiously, this definitely wasn't what she expected to happen but this guy sure is making this whole test exciting so far… Ciana picked up the card that was on her desk to look her ID over, almost looks like a license.
"That's what he's about to say, Blank," Katsuki replied, not taking his eyes off Present Mic.
Ciana felt a little embarrassed the way Bakugo pointed out her cluelessness… But she looked away to ignore him, she wasn't sure why they were sitting next to him…
"Like your application says, you rockin' boys and girls will be out there participating in mock battles in suburban cities!" Up on the screen, the text 'You Are Here' then had branches leading to coloured boxes with the letters A to G. "After I drop the mic here, you'll head to your specified battle zones, sound good?" Again a pregnant pause followed. "...okay!?"
Hearing the mic guy mention about doing a battle in the city really took her back in surprise. "A-a battle…?" Ciana was honestly expecting it to be like an athletic test… But she didn't expect them to do a fight, that explains all the hard training they were doing…
"I see-" Katsuki glanced over at both Ciana's and Izuku's cards, "-so they're splitting us up so we can't work with people we know,"
Izuku's said he was in Battle Center B, Katsuki was A, and Ciana was C. "Yeah, you're right, the examinee numbers are one after the other but we're assigned to different battle centers,"
Glancing at her card more and at her friends, she felt pretty nervous knowing she won't be by Izuku's side during this test. "So… we're going to be splitting up?" Ciana asks in a worried tone, already her nerves were getting worse.
"Get your eyes off my card," Katsuki warned as Izuku flinched back slightly, but Katsuki looked agitated by his placement. "Damn, I was really looking forward to crushing you both at once,"
Overhearing Bakugo wanting to crush them both just had her groan annoyed by the jerk. But her glare softened nervously as she glanced at Izuku in thought. "I-is this something I can really do by myself?" Ciana now looks back to the Mic guy as she makes sure she continues to listen to not miss out on anything she's supposed to know.
"You'll do fine," Izuku offered a small smile in the dim lighting, but her worry was written all over her face. "The combination of Aura you'll be unstoppable, heh, you'd probably beat me I bet,"
Ciana wasn't so sure if she could do this but she still smiled at Izuku thankfully, but before he could hear her reply with a stunned face, Present Mic continued as the screen changed to show a city and the battle's 'enemies'. "Okay, okay, let's check out your targets!" Three darkened robots with the point values of 1, 2, and 3. "There are three types of faux villains in every battle center, they're given point values based on their difficulty so you better choose your opponents wisely,"
"Your goal in this trial is to raise your points value by shredding these villains like a mid-sons guitar solo!" He exclaimed as an animated figure of himself ran a faux course. Then he threw his finger toward the crowd. "But check you're keeping things heroic! Attacking other examinees is a big UA no-no, ya dig?"
Hearing that she had to do a battle was surprising enough but… robots?! Now that really took Ciana back, that didn't sound anything safe for students! "This guys crazy…" she mumbled to herself as she sunk in her seat a little…
Suddenly, one person stood up. "Excuse me sir, but I have a question!"
"Hit me!" Present Mic gave the boy the spotlight. He was relatively tall with a wide frame. He had short dark blue hair, flattened neatly down and parted on the right side of his head, and rather square eyes.
Perking up when noticing one of the test takers standing up and asking his question, Ciana gasped when she also recognized this guy from her dream. He was also one of the students Izuku was with. "No way… he's here too?" Ciana tells herself quietly.
"In the handout you listed four types of villains, not three," He pointed out, "With all respect, if this is an error of official UA material it is shameful," He was going for quite the speech too. "We are exemplary students, we expect the best from Japan's most notable school, a mistake like this won't do,"
Suddenly, his arm swung around the crowd to point directly up at Izuku. "Additionally, you with the unkempt hair! You've been muttering this entire time, stop that, if you can't bother to take this seriously then leave, you're distracting the rest of us." He laid in thick as Izuku curled up on himself, covering his mouth.
"...sorry..." It didn't help a handful chuckled at the exchange.
Ciana became startled when he suddenly pointed towards her friend next to her, mentioning his muttering in front of everyone just had her feel so bad for her friend… that was too humiliating for the poor guy.
"Why can't everyone just give him a break." Ciana muttered quietly and frustrated to herself, now looking up at her friend as she placed her hand on his shoulder for comfort. "It's okay, just try to keep your thoughts inside." Ciana calmly advises him, but still didn't think that guy had to shout out what he was doing in front of everyone.
"Why don't you mind your own business, four eyes?" Of all people to speak up and silence the chuckles, it was the scarlet gaze on Katsuki's face. "If you paid half your attention you'd know he was about to explain that part, or are you that far up your own ass you can't help but run how stuck up you are?"
"Kacchan's... defending me?" Izuku had to seriously take a moment to let that sink in, but again, the blonde made no other remark other than a huff as he watched the stage. His and Ciana's comforting hand on his shoulder gave him back that lost confidence again.
Ciana was quite surprised herself to hear Bakugo was actually defending Izuku, whether this was intentional or not it seemed he still had some good in him. Even with his aggressive attitude Ciana actually glanced at him with a bit of a warm proud smile.
The blue-haired boy clamped up either in shock or fear, it wasn't certain but Present Mic took that chance to continue. "Back to examinee 7111's question, thanks for calling in with your request," Just then, a four robot appeared with... zero points? "The fourth villain type is worth zero points, that guy's just an obstacle we'll be throwing in your way, there's one in every battle center, think of it as a hurdle you should try to avoid. Not that it can't be beaten, there's... kinda no point."
Present Mic waved his arm back to the still standing boy. "My advice ignore it and focus on the one's topping the charts!"
"Thank you very much, please continue," He sat back down as Katsuki snorted softly.
"Told you, four eyes,"
"That's all for today, I'll sign off with a little present, a sample of our school motto - as General Napoléon Bonaparte once laid down, 'a true hero is one who overcomes life's misfortunes', mmhm, now that's a tasty sound bite," Then, Present Mic gave them all a challenging smirk. "You ready to go beyond - let's me hear a 'PLUS ULTRA'!"
Once more, silence befell the crowd.
"Good luck!" He offered.
And with that, everyone soon got up to leave to change before heading to the battle centers.
Listening back to the Mic, Ciana could hardly follow this guy's instructions as it just sounded so complicated… This is something she can only do in a video game, what if she screws up after all? This could be the reason she doesn't get in UA…
As soon as he was finished up she got up like everyone else, already Ciana began shaking up. Seeing that Bakugo was about to go, surprisingly Ciana approaches him as she calls out to him. "Hold on Bakugo!" She calls, stopping as she speaks from behind.
"Um… I know it's not any of my business but I just wanted to say thanks for sticking up for Izuku like that, I appreciate that you were there for him at that moment." Ciana thanks the exploding boy with a smile.
"Hmph, if you honestly think I did that for Deku, you've been spending too much time around him that you're just as clueless," Katsuki turned fully to look at her. "Four eyes was getting on my nerves, stop reading into something that isn't there," With that, he returned to his walk. "...and stop shaking, at least try to act like you have a backbone, or was all that crap you shoved in my ear hot air?"
Despite his harsh words, Ciana still kept her smile towards him. Especially when he encouraged her to be strong even if they were insulting… Ciana stood where she was as he kept walking but didn't stop talking. "I know you're really not as bad as people might say about you, even when we first met I could see that and Izuku still believes that about you too."
Ciana says, knowing she spoke loud enough for him to hear.
Katsuki stopped for a moment, his back to her before he walked on without a word. Izuku came up beside Ciana, "What was that about?" He questioned, not hearing what she had said to Katsuki.
Ciana let him go but still kept her smile towards him, glancing at Izuku who came up to her, Ciana smiled more at her friend as she shook her head. "It's nothing, don't worry about it." Ciana figured Bakugo still wanted to keep his reputation so she doesn't say anything for now.
Though her expression became worried again as she looked down. "I guess this is it… I-I'm really not sure how I'll be able to do this…"
"If only you knew..." Izuku thought to himself, knowing that by now, One For All flowed through his veins, a quirk that was never his. But he didn't let his façade crumble and put on a brave face as he grabbed Ciana's hand tightly. "Nothing will stop you from worrying, but that's understandable, I'm... really not sure how I'm going to do this either, but... no matter what, we should give it our all," He resolved with a firm look. "Every trick possible, use it to win no matter what,"
Ciana felt warm the moment he took hold of her hand again, relaxing a little by his own comfort as she looked back up at him and smiled a bit more, even squeezing his hand a little. "Thanks Izuku, I'll definitely do my best." Ciana says more cheerfully.
"You know much more than I do and plus I noticed how big your muscles have gotten the whole time we trained… I know this will be no problem for you." Ciana smiles and giggles after saying that, knowing Izuku will be the hero everyone will look up to and be proud of.
He went a little rigid for a moment but relaxed as he looked bashful, "You're no different, before you weren't very fit at all, now you can keep up with me almost," Izuku wouldn't vocalize how much cooler she appeared when she wore a tank top, displaying her toned arms. Nope, never. "Like Present Mic said, Plus Ultra," He raised his fist to her.
Ciana giggled as usual whenever he showed his bashful side, also appreciating his praises though it kinda sounded like he thought she looked weak before… but she doesn't say anything now but just puts on a determined smile as she raises her fists as well to fist bump him. "It's all for one and one for all!" Ciana cheerfully declares with her fist raised high after that.
Secretly fond of the phrase from home she learned from her mom… plus in world history class.
Now that all that was settled as well as that game show like introduction… Ciana changed in the locker room to wear a tank top and sweatpants as well as sneakers… putting her hair back up in a ponytail to get herself more prepared. "Well… this is it…" Ciana raised her fists to try and be more confident, taking Bakugos words to heart about not shaking up and being strong.
Once she was ready, Ciana made it outside with everyone else outside a big gate. Ciana could see everyone getting all serious for the big test, part of her still felt nervous especially with so many quirky looking students she still wasn't used to… but she didn't want that to get the better of her, Ciana wished that Izuku was with her right now… but she knew she can't always rely on him in situations like this.
"Hey there, you doing okay?" A hand patted Ciana's shoulder, causing her to jump and turn to the new voice. "Woah, sorry 'bout that, didn't mean to startle you,"
Ciana was greeted by a muscular young man of average height and a rather impressive physique for his young age. He has red eyes that are pointed slightly inwards and a small scar just above his right eye. He also had pointed teeth. His hair is somewhat long, a bright red, and spiked away from his head at all angles with two more pronounced tufts spiked on either side of his forehead like little horns.
Ciana was pretty startled by the sudden pat, glancing behind to see the strange new quirky kid. Ciana already felt her nerves getting the better of her as she shakes up a tad bit. "Oh yeah, I'm fine! Hehe…" Ciana says with a nervous smile while rubbing the back of her neck, Though she was quite surprised he came up to her.
She looked over his features, thinking he looked almost like a punk. He kinda reminds her of the funny jocks from her old school.
He smiled, "Hey, no worries, I can't imagine you're the only one here feeling anxious, I mean, talk about competition," He shrugged, nodding to the crowd of various visible quirks, and those clearly with emitter quirks or otherwise. "But if it helps, trying thinking to yourself, 'I can do this!', sorta helps keep your focus, atleast, it does with me,"
Then the redhead stumbled slightly, looking apologetically, "Completely slipped my mind there, I'm Eijiro Kirishima,"
Ciana was a bit surprised how friendly he is towards her since they are just meeting but it's nice to meet another nice guy besides Izuku, Ciana giggled the way he stumbled. "No kidding, this is sure to become nerve wrecking." Ciana put on her warm smile again as she felt more relaxed.
"I'm Ciana, Ciana Finley. It's nice to meet you Eijiro." Though Ciana quickly caught that she called him by his first name as she panicked. "I-I mean Kirishima! S-sorry, I'm from America so I'm still not used to calling everyone by their last names in this country." She explains shyly, rubbing her neck more while smiling sheepishly.
Kirishima made a surprised face before his toothy smile returned, "Really? Your accent is almost completely perfect too, that's so manly!" He beamed. "But hey, nice to meet you too, Finley, well, good luck to you, show 'em what you're made of!" He pumped his fist, marching away to get himself prepared.
Cianas smile perked up more as she nodded in encouragement back. "Thanks, it's nice to meet you too. Good luck as well!" Ciana waved at him as he walked off, feeling a little more confident now. "It's nice to know there are others who are just as nice as Izuku here." Ciana glances back up to the gate now, clutching her fists to get ready for whatever they might throw at her.
"I really hope I don't die from this… if my dad was watching me right now he would have a heart attack seeing what I'm doing…" Ciana tells herself, praying that her mom is still watching over her even in another world.
~Right, let's start!~ Present Mic boomed from an intercom mounted on the gateway to the large-scale cityscape. The large doors begin to widen ahead. ~There are no bells for real battles, listeners! Run- Run-Run, you're wasting air time here!~
True to his words, half the people at the front of the gate already crammed through the opening. Ciana quickly panicked but remembered her training with All Might, reciting his words, "Take a deep breath, through the nose and mouth," She did, filling her lungs to their limits. "Have oxygen flowing through every vein and muscle," Her body felt warmer, applying her quirk, Aura, into the mix. "Then... move!" Her eyes filled with concentration, and with a great burst of speed, shot forward toward the entrance.
Ciana quickly started to run as soon as her power became activated, she wasn't sure what was going to happen but maybe if she sees what everyone else is doing then she will get the hang of it as well… Ciana glances around as she starts to move, remembering the robots the Mic guy mentioned… Ciana was afraid she might get lost in this obstacle course but she can't overthink it… just focus on her surroundings!
Chaos was everywhere, explosions, shouting, the whole ambiance was like a warzone. Ciana kept running, turning down to a street to her left. The second she did, her eyes came to view one of the robots, a Two-Pointer, an Imperial. It was a dark green body shaped like a scorpion with a blunt tail and long neck supporting the eye with several across the front of the body, big yellow '2's painted on the leg armour. It turned to Ciana, marching on her location. She, of course, leapt back from the leg slamming the ground, then rolling to avoid the stinger as it slowly shuffled around to look for her.
Ciana immediately panicked as soon as she spotted the robot, especially that it's attacking her. This was totally crazy to be in a situation like this. Ciana wasn't even sure how she's going to fight these robots, will her aura even be enough to leave a dent in these robots?
"I have no idea how I'm going to do this… does it have a weakness somewhere I can strike maybe?" As she was dodging she glanced around the metal parts to see if there was possibly any place she could possibly hit.
The Imperial turned to strike her again, but this time, without really thinking at all, Ciana waited and hopped back as the stinger missed her again, now she wrapped around, grabbing the tail over her head to pull herself into a swing and promptly swing her heel into the main eye of the robot. Both the training and breathing technique paid off, much to her surprise as her whole foot cleaved through the optical sensor and tore it from the socket, leaving the machine to spark and eventually implode on itself, collapsing at her feet.
"I didn't even feel any recoil?" She tapped her foot off the ground, and true to her word, no pain, not even a dull throb. And it was so easy too. Her leg shimmered amber before dimming again.
Ciana could not believe she had it in her to do something as intense as that, she almost felt invincible, as soon as she defeated her first robot she jumped and cheered with her fist raised up. "I did it! I actually did it! Maybe I can do this after all."
Ciana paused as she smiled more confidently, already she felt proud of herself but the test wasn't over yet… she glanced around to see more robots that might come up.
More robots marched into view, some combating other people as Ciana ran for the nearest one, the wind whipping her ponytail back as her breath whistled between her teeth, diving forward to twist her hips and bring her leg across the leg of another Imperial, causing it to tumble forward as she spotted the eyes and raised her leg, striking down through the top, practically folding the eyes in on themselves. She didn't waste time to pat herself on the back as a voice cried out.
"Ah, dammit!" Someone on a corner of a street had been knocked backward into the side of a building, a One-Pointer, Victory, that moved on a single wheel with two large shield arms and a more humanoid body structure loomed over them, raising back an arm to swat the guy. Ciana felt her legs move on their own, sprinting in a haze of gold light as she grabbed the guy and tossed him backward as the Victory's arm met nothing but air.
"Wow, that was a close one." Ciana says as she takes a second to breath, she then quickly looks forward to make sure not to lose focus on what might come at her again.
The Victory tried again, only now Ciana had its attention, ducking under its obvious right hook to bring her own right cross straight to the side of its head, which consisted of only an eye, and promptly shattered the eye. It seized up, and fell like a sack of bricks. Checking her hand for cuts, she saw a few shards had left small cuts along her skin but nothing serious. Shaking her head, Ciana pressed on.
This felt nothing to her compared to the pain she felt from home… with a determined look, Ciana fearlessly gave it everything she got through each robot. Though one might have snuck up behind her and as soon as she turned around to react, Ciana gasped as she was hit with its tail.
Ciana was flung across the ground. "Dang it! I-I should have seen that coming!" Ciana struggled to get up as she was wincing in some pain. "I-I can't stop now! I came too far!" Ciana flashbacks to her mother who told her to be strong and not back down, as well as Izuku who said that he believed in her, even Bakugo who told her not to shake up.
Ciana stood back on her feet despite struggling to do so, glaring at the robot that hit her as she clenched her fists in determination…
Regaining her breath, this bot looked like a walking tank with bulky arms and a stubby body, its wheels spun as it charged and rammed the building, the ravenette having leapt onto its back between two faux missile launchers. There was no obvious weakness as a metal guard covered half the head. But the eyes were still visible. Holding tightly as it thrashed, Ciana slid down, balancing herself on the jaw before she brought her left leg back and slammed her toes against the three small eyes, it dented but kept swinging wildly. She did so again, and again, and a fourth finally brought the machine down as she panted, stumbling back only to see another person being snuck up on.
She looked to her downed three-pointer, Venator, and smiled at the totally 'Izuku' idea.
The two-pointer closed in on another teen who was gloating at having taken down two bots at once when it drew back its arms to smack him. But instead, a hand shoved the boy aside, and in Ciana's left she sent the Imperial's head flying with a single left hook. Clutched in her hand was the severed mouth guard of the Venator as she huffed.
"I'm hardly breaking a sweat here, I wonder how Izuku is doing on his side?" As soon as she took out the next robot, Ciana tossed the severed mouth aside, brushing off her hands once she did. Ciana glanced over the wall as she wondered what strategy he was doing, but she still believed he was doing just as well.
Now focusing back on her test, Ciana now glanced at the contestant who was just gloating before, it was really cool to see how these students her age use their quirky powers to fight.
"Ah, I-I totally knew he was there, but uh, thanks for that," He had short gold hair, parted to the right with a black lightning-shaped streak on the left of his side fringe. He has slanted, somewhat triangular golden eyes. Dusting himself off, he stared at Ciana a lot longer than most before adding. "Wow, you're glowing."
"Uh, yeah?" Ciana shrugged. "Well, be careful next time,"
Before he could add more she ran off and down a new street. "Man, saved by a cute girl, come on, get it together!" He slapped his cheeks and moved on as well, hands sparking to life. "Please, let her be in my class if I pass this!"
Meanwhile, Ciana was moving without thinking at all, she had the weakness of every robot down pat, and any people she spotted in trouble she jumped in to help with their fight or save them entirely before leaving like a ghost. Time was starting to run out, but that was before the whole city rumbled beneath her feet.
Ciana was happy to save those in need, she wasn't sure if she was allowed to do this but it didn't matter. Ciana smiled at each person she could help out, though she wasn't expecting the city to rumble as it sure startled her as she tried to keep balance on her feet.
"W-what's going on now?!" She asks herself during the sudden rumble beneath her feet.
The sun was blocked out slightly as Ciana and dozens of others met with the same, impassable hurdle. The skyscrapers were shifted apart like they were small plastic roadblocks by large, black hands. The tremors caused glass to shatter and concrete to split as the near thirty-meter tall robot with a massive, rectangular head and several eyes scanned the people below, moving in to completely cover the length of the street. The Zero Pointer, Executor.
~Less than two minutes remaining!~ Present Mic's voice boomed from afar as Executor brought its fist down on an empty segment of the street, sending a massive plume of dust to sweep the panicked crowd that fled from the gigantic machine.
Ciana was definitely panicking herself during this sudden commotion, wondering if an earthquake was happening as she saw everything going down. Ciana tries her best to avoid any sudden danger as she could. "Only two minutes left, I-I got this!"
Ciana tells herself, despite some injuries she suffered she was grateful to still be standing on her feet. If it weren't for all the training she did as well as the power she had, Ciana was sure she would be dead right about now.
As the Executor rolled through, Ciana paused, turning her head back when she saw that not everyone was so lucky. Some were completely paralyzed with fear, they couldn't move at all. Her heart froze for a split second, staring through the dust at their faces, the powerless expressions when faced with reality. She knew what that was like, she was forced to confront it time and again since she arrived in this world.
"The funny thing is. Run all you want, you can't escape your own mind, and as I said - you're just the unlucky one,"
Meru Zena's words were engraved in her mind, she was unlucky, but... "No one else should have to live through this, or even come close to this feeling," She was terrified beyond belief. And yet.
Her body simply moved on its own.
Those frozen were suddenly pulled into a soothing embrace, a heatwave like no other devouring their terror, supressing those fears as they regained their senses as the large tracks of the Zero Pointer grew louder. Ciana moved faster than before, grabbing the first one person she saw by their shirt. "Move back, go!" Her words reached them as they turned tail and ran. The next she sprinted to, seeing them move again as she grabbed the girl's hand. "Come on, get outta the way!"
One more was left in her view, closer to the Executor so without much thought, Ciana snatched them by the waist and threw them across the street as she did the same with herself, avoiding the machine's slow-moving legs in time to scramble to her feet. By now, everyone was clear of the danger zone as she felt her Aura fluctuate and simmer, not realizing that same glow and been present on several people for a brief period of time. That brief strain made her legs give out as she panted sharply.
~TIIIME'S UUUUP!~
Ciana was grateful to see everyone made it out okay, especially that she didn't let fear get the better of her, as her glow gave out Ciana collapsed as soon as the timer was up. Despite how much she was tired and hurt… Ciana smiled more at the fact she was able to help those who couldn't help themselves. "I did it mom… I…"
Ciana winced as she got down on her knees, it's like her power up gave out on her, or that she used it all to help the others. Cianas vision started to get blurry as she held her side in pain…
"Now remember, Young Finley, your quirk is still a part of your body, that energy you've given to Young Midoriya must come from somewhere, as such, the more you use, the more your own stamina will be depleted so be wary of your limitations,"
Mr Yagi's warning to her came full circle as she cradled her side, her legs felt worse due to constantly kicking but they weren't broke as far as she could tell. Thankfully, small robots with stretchers arrived to check on the examinees, and after seeing Ciana unable to move, they marched over to help her.
"I gotcha," From behind, two hands helped her up onto the small stretcher, the familiar red hair and toothy smile of Kirishima greeting her. "I just got here from those collapsing buildings, then I saw you running back and forth to get some out of the way, that was so manly!" He wiped a his eyes quickly at the display. "Still though, you alright?"
Ciana was a bit surprised to see the boy known as Kirashima come to her aid, now laying on the stretcher with her eyes on him, Ciana smiled proudly but weakly, thankful for him helping her out in her own time of need. "T-thanks, i-I think I am…" Ciana winces from her pain, but despite that she kept her smile. "Thanks for helping me… I saw you how strong you were out there as well, nice work yourself."
Ciana gives a weak thumbs up, before she could say anymore Ciana groaned as her vision started to become more of a blur… Ciana wasn't sure if she passed or violated any rules and failed, but she was proud to be there for the ones who worked so hard to achieve their goals, Ciana was afraid if she was going to die right now… but even if it's possible she will no longer be around, Ciana is happy to have even been there for Izuku as much as she could and will be in the school he always dreamt about…
