Chapter 38: Discovering More Futuristic Things
"Man… just look at that sunset." Darius said as we were outside walking.
Like I said, it was me, him, Blue, Scarlett, Alexis and Kris that were going outside to hang out. And Darius does have a point… it kinda does look beautiful. It reminds me of that Suzaran Beach Party. It looks way more beautiful than that place. I mean it's summer so why not.
I wonder if it rains here though. Not that I want to talk about it that much.
"Yeah. It sure is a beautiful evening here." Scarlett said. "I guess it's not too late to watch the sunset in my free time although I'm more worried about other stuff."
"Same here… I wish I could have a sauna while watching it." Alexis said.
"But that's inside. How are you gonna watch it?" Scarlett asked.
"All I need is a bigger window. You can't miss out on the most… *moan* comfortable stuff."
"You still gonna be sweaty. Like a glazed donut."
"Shut up, Dare E. Coyote!" Alexis yelled as she almost hit Darius in the head. The way she called Darius made me and Blue hold in our laugh.
"A'ight. Only if you have sticky tape. Because you ain't got any."
"Oh I will find sticky tape afterwards."
"I was wondering… I know I was a little late on this before, but have you two noticed any people similar to those two?" Scarlett asked the both of us.
"N-No, not at all." I replied with a sweatdrop.
"I actually do." Blue said. "But it's in a different way in terms of their personality."
"Personality?" Scarlett asked.
"It's just… although they are British, they do that same type of bickering."
"Bickering? Wait, hold on here… This girl doesn't know how to travel dimensions. Why ask her?" Kris asked.
"Doesn't matter." Scarlett said. "Blue may not have the ability to travel dimensions yet, but I'm just only curious to see if those two are experiencing the same sense of humor like Darius and Alexis have."
"Wait, that wasn't me! Don't get it twisted!" Alexis said.
"I counter people with jokes, but only if they intend to mess with me. And if I mean people, I mean this thing and that thing."
"*snicker* Girl… that ain't true. I ain't no thing. I'm a human being." Darius said, trying to fake laugh.
"Yes you are. I know one time— and I'm gonna say this in front of Kaze and Blue. You tried to call me a tits-for-brains back at that restaurant we went to. I forgot the name of it."
"A… W-What?!" Blue shouted blushing.
He can't be serious.
To be honest… I… I uh… kinda watch anime that talks a lot about this. That doesn't mean I talk about it a lot. And I can't tell you what it is.
"See what you did, you two?" Scarlett asked the two.
"That wasn't me." Darius said. "It was just… she was reaching for my food while I was looking away. She was damn sure she was lucky on that attempt."
"Yeah, because you're always messing with me. Serves you right." Alexis said.
"To be honest, it was actually funny. Most of the people did not hear that coming." Kris said.
"E-Even Lunia?" I asked.
"She punished him for a week with that sincere language." Scarlett said.
"I know I cherish my sister… but I ain't gonna let someone who is only a year younger than me snitch like that. This ain't no hierarchy."
"Yes it is. You got the child stage, the teen stage, and the adult stage." Scarlett explained. "The adults help guide the teenagers or children with their dreams of what they wish to do and try to keep them out of trouble while children and teenagers develop their mindset of what they wish to do in the future with the help of adults. Sometimes others can work together, but if they make mistakes, it's not always the end of the world. They can keep practicing until they actually succeed."
"That's true, but I'm talking about strictness. I'm saying the ladies under my current age aren't gonna get away from being strict towards me in a certain way. It's just… not gonna happen."
"Then… just stop messing with me so much. Maybe you wouldn't have to watch what I would do to you." Alexis said.
"Especially you, Kris." Scarlett said.
"Me?!" Kris asked.
"Yes, you! You follow that same pattern that they do!"
"I guess this is how sisters and brothers are these days." I said with a sweatdrop. "Although I don't have one of either, I guess with your entertainment, I wonder how this is going to play out towards the other dimensions."
"Y-Yeah, honestly… I don't watch a lot of funny entertainment, but since I don't have anything else to take care of besides working at my job, I guess you guys won't be a bother." Blue said.
"You know… that kinda reminds me." I said. "There were some funny moments back in Primp Town that I remembered from the top of my head. Although there were tiny bits of it left out."
"Were they the same? I was just too curious to know." Kris asked.
"Umm… I don't think so. It was just their way of making me laugh… sometimes."
"Do you think the people there make you feel comfortable?" Scarlett asked.
"Yeah, they do. I'm fine with whoever I talk to. I just don't like people trying to disrespect me or ruffle my feathers."
"Ruffle your feathers? What?" Darius asked.
"Annoy me in other words." I said.
"Well… your appearance does make a lot more sense in my opinion. I think it's because the only way you get mad is if I were to get in your face, breathe on you too hard, or just… name-call you."
"Umm… I guess you can put it like that. But I'm not a scary person though. It's just… I may not talk a lot, but I'm more open."
"Huh. Now that I think about it however… I'm starting to see you guys as secondaries." Scarlett said.
"Secondaries? But… we're all together." Blue said looking confused.
"Yes I get that part, but seeing how you girls are quiet is making me think that you would be good for backup. I mean I know our relationships are not connected just yet since you haven't got to know us COMPLETELY, but I think maybe we should start giving you a chance more often."
"Are you sure? We won't be a bother?" I asked.
"You both are quiet. What's the reason you aren't a bother to us?" Alexis asked.
…
…
…
"I can give them a chance too." Blue said to me after I was looking at her for several seconds.
…
"Ok. Then I will too." I said with a small smile.
"Don't worry, you two." Darius said. "I'm gonna make sure you two will have somebody to keep you company while you are around."
"Th-Thank you." I said with a hint of blush and a sweatdrop.
"And maybe find you ladies a boyfriend."
"Tch!" My cheeks were growing redder thanks to him saying that.
"Th-That's too sudden, Darius." Blue said as she did the same thing I was doing.
"You shouldn't get ahead of yourself, you know." Scarlett said with a sweatdrop.
"Alright, this the place here." Darius said as we were now approaching our destination.
"It's called Evolution Buffet. It's one of the most delicious buffets in this dimension." Kris said. "These people do not play around when it comes to the food. It's… you are not gonna stop leaving this place once you enter here."
"Does everything have to be named in Sci-Fi terms?" I asked, looking confused.
…
"N-Not exactly. Why?" Scarlett asked.
"I don't know. It's just… whenever I think of this and Roller Rocket Racing, I think of Sci-Fi stuff. And I'm highly thinking the next building I go to might be the same thing."
"Oh no no no, not everything is just named in Sci-Fi terms. All of the names are similar to one of the um… names that you guys have back in your world." Kris said.
"Oh…"
"What made you think of that, Kaze?" Blue asked.
"I don't know… I thought about it for a half a second once I heard the name." I said.
…
"For only half a second?" Darius asked.
"Y-Yes. Like lightning quick."
"Well to keep it realistic, Kaze, there's not a lot of buildings that are named in Sci-Fi terms. It's just how they were named." Scarlett said.
"I see. Sorry for asking."
"No no no, you must've thought about this world having a lot of Sci-Fi things, didn't you?"
"Yes. I haven't got to explore this…"
"Ok ok, no offense, but you can talk about Sci-Fi names later." Darius said. "Right now, we gotta handle some business here. We can even talk about it once more. So let's go."
…
"*sigh* Ok. Let's "handle our business" inside." Scarlett said with an annoyed look.
"I was finished talking about it anyway." I said with a sweatdrop.
Evolution Buffet… I wonder what we are gonna see inside.
The six of us are now entering inside the restaurant where we are now about to fill our stomachs with food. I have to say I'm surprised that this dimension also has a restaurant. It's what they say around the world: You eat to live. Mom told me that when I was little. And I had to at least give the… avocado a try. She fed that to me when I was 3 years old.
Classic Mom.
Once we entered, there were (as expected) many people inside eating their food. It reminded me of royalty for some reason.
"I can't believe that many people are taking a liking to this restaurant." Alexis said.
"Tell me about it." Scarlett said.
This sorta reminds me of Super Full Course Track. A little bit.
"Yeah. This is what I call "Evolution" here. All-you -can -eat buffet." Kris said.
"I hope you don't go overdoing it again." Scarlett said with a sweatdrop. Knowing she has a bad history with him here.
"It really is nice here. I think it's like a kingdom, but it's from the future." Blue said as she was looking around.
"Yeah, I didn't know Mom would make things fire when it comes to buildings. Cool in other words." Darius said.
"Now I'm starting to get hungry." I whispered as I heard my stomach growl.
"Well well well, if it isn't the Hyper family." I heard a new voice coming towards us.
There was a man with dark brown hair and brown eyes who was wearing a white apron over a black shirt, black jean shorts and dark purple, orange and yellow sneakers. To be honest, that's too many colors. White, black, dark purple, orange and yellow.
"Hey, Edward. That's true. I'm always ready to chow down the best food there is." Darius said.
"As usual." Scarlett said with a sweatdrop.
"I know that. And I see you all brought company here, no doubt." The guy said.
"Actually, they aren't from here. They were recently brought here from their place called the United Kingdom." Kris said.
"Oh. I see. Pleased to meet you ladies."
"Yeah. Kaze. Blue. This is Edward. He has worked at this restaurant for 40 years and he's been the host."
Darius said.
40 years?! And he doesn't… grow older?!
"Ok. Um… Kaze, I assume." Edward said as he pointed at me.
"Yes, that's me. I'm Kaze by the way." I said as I nodded.
"Oh ok. So then you must be Blue. Ok. Like Darius said, I'm Edward. You both must be new here to this restaurant, so I personally welcome you to Evolution Buffet, one of our most elite restaurants in Hyperdrive City…"
"Did you really have to say "elite"?" Alexis asked Edward.
"C'mon, Alexis. I've been here for 40 years. You on the other hand have been here for uhh… 13 or 14 years. Speaking of which, where's Zack? He's not with you this evening?"
"He told us he had to do a few errands today, including the one where he was going to figure out the poor internet connection issue." Scarlett said.
"I see. I mean, it's totally obvious since he's amazing at technology around here."
"Yeah, he's always got his stuff ready for any errors there are around the city. If there wasn't another person like him, it would be hard to get it over with quickly." Darius said.
"I might have to learn more from him. He seems to be Dr. Adonis' sidekick or something like that. But like I said, it's really elite. Trust me. Unless you say otherwise."
"I know that, but can't you take it down a notch and say it's fabulous?" Alexis asked.
"Well… I could say something like that."
"Fabulous?" Darius asked. "I mean I know this restaurant reminds me of a kingdom, but I can't tell my opinio— well you said that this is an elite restaurant."
"Yeah. As I was saying before, this is an elite restaurant. We serve one of the best dishes and desserts here hence why most of these people come here today. This is your first time at a buffet, right?"
"Yes." Me and Blue said.
"I understand. Sometimes, you might not know what me and these guys are talking about since you've been here recently."
"They actually have a hard time comprehending what I'm saying for example." Darius said. "So what I do is just use alternative words. Basically how we talk as normal humans."
"Well… I can see why. They seem innocent so I can see why we have to make changes with our speech."
"Well… I'm fine with it."
"Oh?" Edward asked as we turned our attention towards Blue.
"Did you say something, Blue?" Scarlett asked.
"I said I'm fine with what you guys are saying." Blue said. "It's just… in the United Kingdom, I don't recognize people talking with that similar accent. So as a normal person like myself, I just talk how I usually talk. You know how I speak English really well? Me and Kaze are British so the way we are talking is a little different from your way of talking."
"Mmm… I see. Thanks for explaining that." Edward said. "Although I don't want to judge, I now understand why you don't talk that much. Which is alright I guess."
"Yeah. We're new to this."
"A'ight. I'm ready to get some food in me. I can't keep my stomach waiting." Darius said.
"Yeah, I don't think we should've waited here to talk for more than a minute when there isn't anyone behind us." Scarlett said.
"Alright. So it's six of you this evening?" Edward asked.
"Yes. Six of us."
"Alright. Follow me." Edward said as he took the menus and led the way to our tables.
As we were walking, there were a couple of people at their tables enjoying their food, tables that were filled with plates containing food inside. It sort of reminded me of the library because it's like browsing for books that I wish to read.
To be honest, this is actually my first time at a buffet.
I'm hoping this restaurant has my favorite food. But if it doesn't, then I'll try something else that looks delicious. There's always other delicious things to try anyway.
…
A-As long as it's similar to the ones in Liverpool. Although we're in Hyperdrive City.
"Alright, here's your table. Your waiter will be here in a minute." Edward said as we reached our table looking perfect enough for six people to sit in. Perhaps, it's a little tall.
"Thanks, man." Darius said as we all thanked him and went into our seats.
I was sitting at the edge of the booth seat next to Blue, who was sitting next to Scarlett. And then there was Alexis, who was also sitting at the edge of the seat next to Kris, who was sitting next to Darius.
"So what do you girls think about Edward? He's cool, right?" Kris asked.
"He is kinda cool." I said.
"Yeah." Blue said.
"I can see why you just have that small talk gene." Darius said.
"Small talk gene?" I asked with confusion.
"*giggle* This is stupidity I'm talking about." Alexis said while facepalming and giggling.
"I… talk sometimes, but I just don't quite understand you." I said to Darius.
"Don't mind him, Kaze. His way of speaking English is just completely terrible." Alexis said to me.
"Alright, alright, then try saying that sentence in Spanish, dama. ¿Escuchas, Alexis? Huh?" Darius asked.
Uhh… is that… Spanish?
"No puedes cortarlo, ¿verdad, Darius?"
Woah… where did that come from?
"Wha… Scarlett, is that Spanish?!" Darius asked.
"Surprised, aren't you? I have the mastery of just Spanish, French, and Japanese." Scarlett said.
"Ok then what was that you just said?"
"It was Spanish. It means… "You just can't cut it out, can't you, Darius?""
…
"You see, I didn't even know that she could speak that language, man." Kris said to Darius.
"I know she looking on the internet again."
"What was that?" Scarlett asked, looking annoyed.
"Just talking about the internet."
"Hmph." Scarlett was not surprised.
This is now starting to sound like how Raffina and I are when we are talking. Although I haven't heard her talk in a way that a rich girl talks. Or maybe she was trying to keep me company overall.
"So what were you girls actually doing earlier? I mean you were with Mom earlier, so I was just curious to know what you were doing." Kris asked.
"We were with Lunia to get assigned as HGUs. We tested our weapons or abilities and I was really impressed with mine." I said.
"As for me… uhh, I had some difficulties with my archery skills as I had never done archery in months mainly because of work. My secondary ability came in handy though." Blue explained.
"You had your bow as a primary weapon?" Alexis asked.
"Of course. I watched the Hunger Games and I've wanted to be a magic user/archeress. I just need my accuracy to be improved so I have to go to archery training again."
"I thought you would be like a swordswoman or something. I never actually thought about you being the long-ranged type of human being." Darius said.
"Actually, I used magic to make me a sword. An ice sword and that was when I started to get physical."
"An ice sword? You chose ice as your element?"
"Uh-huh."
"So then what are you, Kaze?" Darius asked.
"I chose the Lunar element. An "Swordfighting Lunar Magician"." I said.
"Lunar element? I thought you liked working with dark magic." Alexis said to me.
"Well it was fun working with it, but it reminded me of being a villain in which I don't want to be. So it was the last thing I wanted to use."
"So we're probably going to have more power on lunar magic, is that it? It can't just be all of us using lunar magic." Kris said.
"It's not going to be all of us using lunar magic. We already have ⅖ of the people with the required element." Scarlett said.
"I know that. But the six of us are known for using lunar magic. Another person using lunar magic and I'm sure we might be at a disadvantage."
"There's only one ice user sitting at our table." Alexis said as she pointed at Blue.
…
…
"It won't be a disadvantage, I'm sure we'll find someone that will fit the next puzzle pieces." Blue said.
"And even though I'm actually part of the Lunar family, I'm also counted as one of the five people who volunteered to use one of the five elements so that we can have a complete roster." I said. "Although, I'm a little nervous to test this out on other dimensions, I'll still be a good source to you guys. Not that I know a lot about games since these are all gaming dimensions."
"You sure? I think your "sources" will not be helpful when we enter dimensions you do not know of." Darius said.
"I know one. And that's the Mushroom Kingdom. Some others… I never heard about them before."
"You're not alone, Kaze." Scarlett said. "At first I wasn't interested in knowing about those dimensions but since Kris talks about it so much, I was able to give these dimensions a chance. Maybe provide them as secondary sources."
"I'm still hoping that my magic is going to be a huge match for those suckers barging into people's territories." Alexis said. "Because if it doesn't, this is a waste of time."
"Well, what did you choose as your build?" I asked.
"I'm a "Pure Lunar Brawler"."
"A Pure Lunar Brawler?"
"Yeah. That means I have the ability to fight physically alongside the lunar magic that I have."
"Oh… I guess we have our similarities then."
"Similarities? But you are a magic user. Fighting physically doesn't make you a strong magic user."
"But I just tested it out. It really worked for me. I even got something else in the test run that made me get stronger in fighting."
"Something else?" Alexis asked.
"What's that?" Scarlett asked.
…
…
…
"I got another form in my human body. And it's not my HGU form, it's a different form."
…
"It's a lie."
"I-I'm not lying." I said to Darius.
"She is actually telling the truth." Blue said to him.
"I'll show you. I just gotta let it recharge."
"Welcome to Evolution Buffet, guys." Said a woman with long black hair and dark blue eyes coming up to us.
"Hello, Veronica." Alexis said.
She looks quite young for her age. I'm a little concerned.
"What's up, Veronica? I haven't seen you in a while." Darius said.
"I know that. Probably 3 weeks or so. I haven't heard the last time we met."
They sure know a lot of people here. Is the population of this dimension large or something?
"I also see you brought in friends, right?"
"They aren't from here though. They are actually from a different dimension." Scarlett said.
"Different… dimension?" The woman asked, looking confused.
"Well… according to how they look is proof. They don't bite or anything."
Y-You didn't need to put that in there. Although that is true.
"Ok… Well my name is Veronica. You girls have names."
"I am Kaze Matsuzaki. Kaze for short." I said.
"My name's Blue Mackenzie. You can call me Blue." Blue said.
"We live in the United Kingdom, so we just got here recently."
"Alright, then it's nice to meet you both. You know that reminds me. The name "Blue Mackenzie". It seems kinda reversed."
We all looked at each other with confusion. Probably not understanding what she means by that. I had no idea what she meant by that either.
"R-Reversed?" Blue asked, looking confused.
"What made you think it was reversed, Veronica?" Alexis asked.
"Well… you know Mackenzie Blue? The books with the name slapped across it?" Veronica asked.
"Yeah."
…
"Oh. Ok, now I get it."
"Get what? Is my name that… popular?" Blue asked.
"No no, it's not that." Alexis said. "There was a book, and I'm not sure if it's in your country or not, but what Veronica was telling you was that you were referred to as Mackenzie Blue, but your full name is backwards so you might have the same name."
"People in the United States have that book. Some say that is… much of a good book to read. I'm surprised your name is inside your DNA." Scarlett said.
"Oh… I didn't even know that. I guess I'm lucky then." Blue said.
"And… Kaze, right? Isn't your name Chinese or Japanese? I'm surprised that out of all the names in the world, it's your actual name."
"I get that a lot." I said with a sweatdrop. "Not that I'm from Asia."
"Yeah… I get it. Learning names does get in my head all the time. I can't help it."
Hopefully it doesn't make anybody uncomfortable when she's making conversations about it.
"Anyway, do you guys want anything to drink?" Veronica asked.
"Can I have regular Pepsi?" Darius asked.
"Pepsi. Ok."
"I'll take water." Scarlett said.
"Ok."
"I'll have Pepsi too." Kris said.
"Alright. Pepsi."
They drink soda?
"I'll have lemonade tea please." Blue said.
"Ok. Lemonade tea."
"I'll take regular lemonade." Alexis said.
"Regular Lemonade. And for you?"
…
"I'll have water." I said after looking at the menu for several seconds.
"Ok. So I have Two Pepsis, Two waters, a lemonade tea and regular lemonade, is that it?"
"Yup. Right on point." Alexis said.
"Alright. It'll be right here when you guys get your food." Veronica said as she left our table.
"Alright, Y'all. Chow time. I'm ready to eat." Darius said.
"Yeah. Let's find some dishes. Come on, you two." Alexis said.
…
"A-Are we going up to get the food ourselves?" I asked Alexis.
"Uh… Duh." Alexis, Kris and Darius said.
"In a buffet, you can actually get up and grab the food that is on a dish instead of asking the server or waiter what you want." Scarlett said.
"Oh really?" I asked, looking surprised.
"I can actually get my food?" Blue asked.
"Yes. Which is actually good because then you'll have your drink and food right at the table right on cue."
"Oh, wow… I didn't know that." I said. "That's pretty nice to hear."
"Yeah. Picking our choice of food from the dishes. It's really awesome." Blue said.
"Now you see why I like buffets so much. It's just anything you want. Dinner, snacks, everything." Kris said.
"Yeah. Ok… I'm ready to eat. I wonder what's on the menu." Alexis said as she got up and walked towards the dishes.
"That's that time. Let's go." Darius said as he was preparing to get his food.
"Alright." I said.
We all got up from the table and went to go get our food. Knowing that we can pick the food that is on the dishes, this seemed really satisfying. No… I actually like it. Super Full Course Track is really cool, but Evolution Buffet is way better.
…
Well… I think Evolution Buffet is just a buffet… I like both. It's just… I often go to normal restaurants with Mom and sometimes Dad. But he doesn't care where he likes to take me. Here, this feels like a whole new event where I go to a restaurant with my friends and not my family. I mean, I do have my snacks in which I'm gonna eat, but there's always real food here that I can actually try. You might be thinking Spaghetti and Meatballs would be on my mind on the spot, but there's always other dishes that I haven't taken a first brief look at.
After walking a few feet, I grabbed a plate and started browsing the food.
"It smells good here." Blue said as she was scrolling around.
"I agree. I never thought this would be better than Super Full Course Track." I said.
"Super Full Course Track? You go there, Kaze?"
"Well that was my first time going there. Mom told me about the place since my arrival back home. It was really good."
"Oh… Because I never went there before. Xavier told me about that place and he said the same thing. He's got a strong affection for restaurants that have the best food."
"He does? Wow… Boys like him really do have a sweet tooth, don't they?"
"Not all of them. Some boys have sweet teeth, some boys don't. It depends. You can't judge though."
"Do you have a favorite dessert?" I asked Blue.
"Just Vanilla Ice Cream. I like it with sprinkles. Do you have one?"
"Mmmm… I'm leaning towards marble cake. I don't really have a preference."
"No preference? That explains who you are, despite being lonely."
"Oh really?" I asked with a sweatdrop.
"I'm joking. I understand. Marble cake does sound good."
"Yeah. It kinda does. I never stop thinking about it being my favorite dessert."
"I see. Anyway, let's get our food. We'll talk about it later."
"Alright."
I went ahead and started browsing the dishes. They looked and smelt good to me. They definitely look like the ones back home. No wonder how Primp Town has these types of restaurants although I never got the chance to see one.
There's so many to choose from. I mean I would really love some Spaghetti and Meatballs, but maybe something different would be nice for me.
*10 MINUTES LATER*
It took me a long time to decide on what I wanted to eat. I know there was a lot of tasty food, but I didn't want to fill up the plate with a bunch of stuff I have on my plate. All I had was a cheesesteak, cheesy chips… well I know they are called cheese fries but I like cheesy chips better… and some vanilla cake with whipped cream on it. They all looked and smelled really good. Uhh… although I'm not much of a food person, I'm just a balanced eater although eating sweets brightens everyone's day. I'm in the middle between healthy and unhealthy. But I don't care about that. Whatever it is on my plate or bowl, I just enjoy it right away. No excuses.
I didn't want to hold the others up, but I just couldn't stop taking my eyes off of the food they've got since this is my first time coming here. Hopefully Mom is ok with this. Possibly something new to behold of course.
She expects me to eat healthy sometimes but nonetheless, she always leaves it up to me to decide what I want of course.
"Damn, Kaze. You really that hungry, huh?" Darius asked, looking surprised as I met up with the others back at the table. With stuff in my hands that I might have a hard time placing down.
"Uhh… I'm not that much of a big eater, but I couldn't resist all the good stuff there is here." I said, trying to hold in my laugh.
"You sure you're gonna finish all of that?" Kris asked.
"That seems like a lot to consume." Scarlett said.
"And the bill is gonna be a big one." Darius whispered.
"I'll be alright. The food's not gonna kill me even if I eat most of it. I'm not usually a picky eater anyway. But… I went with this for now." I said.
"Is all of that your favorite?" Darius asked me.
"I like these, but it's not personally my favorite food. Spaghetti and Meatballs are my favorite. I decided to take a break from it. Since I haven't been trying other foods lately."
"It smells good anyway." Blue said. "I think your food is better than the ones back home."
"I know. Hopefully I can get this done."
"Well… let's just enjoy our food. I know mine is really good, so we shouldn't wait too long." Scarlett said.
"Agreed." Me and Blue said.
Moments after we dealt with eating our food and paying the bill, we went back outside to go somewhere else. Coming from all of us, we were out of ideas on what to do since the sun is about to set in several minutes.
But at that time, that was when Alexis thought of something quickly.
"I forgot! I have to go see if my bodysuit is fixed! I forgot to do that a long time ago." Alexis said with shock.
"Wow… someone forgot to do that a long time ago. Someone's in big trouble." Darius said.
"Shut it up." Alexis said with a raspy tone.
"Why didn't you say anything earlier, Alexis?" Scarlett asked.
"I didn't know. It was just the training and us eating at Evolution Buffet made me lose concentration on my assignment. I gotta hurry up and get there before it closes."
"Bodysuit?" Blue asked.
"Yeah. I had a bodysuit that Mom gave me a few weeks ago. It had a hole in it for some reason. I'm not sure what the problem was."
"Most of these people here wear bodysuits since people have to use a bodysuit any day of the year."
"Use a bodysuit any day of the year?" I asked, looking confused. "That's one of the rules here in Hyperdrive City?"
"That's right." Scarlett said. "It's just to show that you are actually a citizen here. Although you aren't from here. Even Mom ordered that rule for everyone here. Otherwise… you must pay $25 all year next year."
"All year next year?!" Me and Blue shouted with complete shock.
"She takes this seriously, you two." Darius said. "All year, every day, you must pay the $25 fee if you do not wear a bodysuit any day of the year. Mom has eyes everywhere and she is really protective with all of us. Wearing bodysuits is just to prove that you really are loyal to Hyperdrive City and not a threat."
"Wow. For a ruler, I guess that is a good rule. People need to know where they are coming from before proceeding." I said.
…
"Not all the time. But I see your point." Alexis said. "That's why I need to go down to this store called Xtreme Speedometer."
"Xtreme Speedometer?" Me and Blue asked.
"It's one of those repair stores where they do a combination of clothing and technology. I also have a feeling that Zack is over there. Probably still working on the internet issues."
"I see. I think we should hurry before it's too late." I said.
"I know. So come on, let's get a move-on! Before I miss out on my stuff!" Alexis shouted as she started speeding towards her destination.
"So energetic." Kris said.
"Well… I guess we all gotta listen to her and get a move-on." Darius said.
"Only if she could wait for us." Scarlett said with a sweatdrop.
And so, we've now reached this Xtreme Speedometer place where there were a few people in this store due to the current time I assume.
It also looks futuristic as Roller Rocket Racing and Evolution Buffet. There were a lot of tools, clothes and technology inside. There was even a large television on the top of the wall in the back. Probably to keep us entertained while we wait.
"Thank god I got here on time. I would've been screwed if I didn't grab my bodysuit by today." I heard Alexis say as we were walking towards her.
"I mean of course you would've been screwed. Because your mother would've disciplined you for doing makeup all day instead of arriving here on time." Said a man with dark brown hair, brown eyes and a beard. And I even saw someone else over there who looked familiar.
Isn't that… Zack? I thought he was figuring out the internet problem.
"If you were to actually snitch, then that beard is going to be fully over your face."
"Hahahahahaha! Come on now, Alexis. You can't just take one joke for a change? I'm always known to be a highly-entertained man."
"Yeah, but your jokes are so not funny."
"I can't believe how you are the only girl that gets picked on." Darius said.
"Well who's idea was that for picking on me in the first place?" Alexis asked with an annoyed look.
"I mean I still have respect for you as a brother of course, but uhh… I guess it would've stayed that way if Kris did not start."
"Woah woah, hold on, Darius. You could've picked that on Scarlett. That wasn't on me." Kris said.
"No it wasn't, Kris." Scarlett said with an annoyed look. "I can tell you're lying."
"Either way, I honestly believe your reasoning for being late on getting your bodysuit." The guy said.
"Is everything ok back there?" The boy asked. Likely Zack.
"Yeah, everything's ok over here, Zack. You figured what was going on?"
Zack. I knew it.
"Yeah. The speed of the router was getting slower and slower due to the longevity of the router so I have to get Dr. Lotus and help set up a new router."
A new router?
"A new router? Do we need to have a new one." Darius asked.
"Likely. Because the router can't run full speed for a very long time, you're going to experience a slower pace of the internet."
"Wait, Mr. Dustin, you work at Xtreme Speedometer, right? Why couldn't you help my brother?" Scarlett asked.
"Because your brother told me he had the guts to do it. I told him to be cautious, however. Because I do not want my shop damaged. Although I hate doing clothes because it's not my thing, I'll still have to do it."
"Makes sense to me." Alexis said with a sweatdrop.
"Hopefully Mom is gonna let that slide." Scarlett added.
"I mean, come on, wouldn't you both at least give any type of repair a try? Your mother would've been proud of trying." The guy said.
"I'm not too experienced with technology, you know." Scarlett said with a bigger sweatdrop.
"Same." Alexis added.
"Ugh… I figured you would be that lazy. Unlike Zack over here." The guy said.
"We're not lazy! We just… look, can you just drop it already? I'm not really interested in doing that. I would try if I was interested, but I'm not. Maybe later." Scarlett said.
"Alright… fine. I see you guys brought in company anyway."
"Yeah, we did. These girls are from a different dimension."
"I'm Kaze Matsuzaki. Nice to meet you. You can call me, Kaze." I said.
"My name's Blue Mackenzie. Also nice to meet you." Blue said.
"Ok, nice to meet you both. The name's Dustin. I actually work here at Xtreme Speedometer. I may joke around all the time, but I'm actually a hard worker here. Not that I want to work here at the very least. So I allow Zack to help me out."
"I see."
"They aren't as talkative, but they are easygoing."
Scarlett said.
"Oh… hey, I'm fine with easygoing people. If you don't talk much, that's perfectly fine with me. I don't judge that." The man named Dustin said.
"Well… hopefully we'll get along." I said with a small smile.
"I'm sure we'll get along. I mean, you two seem like nice girls so whatever makes your boat float." He said. "Anyway, here's your new suit, Alexa. Hopefully this makes you happy."
"My name's not Alexa! I swear, you guys are pushing it at this point!" Alexis shouted while blushing.
"Relax! It was just a joke!"
She's going to get even more uncomfortable if this keeps up.
"I don't know if Darius gave you the joke-telling pass or if you are doing this just for fun." Alexis said.
"Alright, calm down, Alexis." Scarlett said.
"*sigh* But thanks for fixing my bodysuit. Hopefully, Mom will get me all prepared in several days for stone-hunting."
"No problem. I can't believe you guys are gonna actually find the legendary stones. I heard it isn't an easy task."
"It sure isn't. But we're all gonna get through it." Darius said.
"And not make things go sideways. Otherwise, we're all going to be on the losing end of this." Scarlett said.
"We're not gonna go sideways. We have backup right here. We can always rely on those two if we need their help." Darius said, pointing at me and Blue.
"B-But I don't have quite the intelligence in other dimensions." I said with a sweatdrop.
"Me either." Blue said.
"You don't have to be intelligent in other dimensions. We can sometimes guide you in those dimensions." Scarlett said.
"And I may be the smart one, so you don't have to worry about the others." Kris said.
"Yeah… I think I need tutoring too." Zack said.
*BEEP*
"Oh! It's time to close up shop! Finally I can catch some Z's!" Dustin said.
"I guess you were working on that suit all day." Darius said.
"I worked on it for six hours this afternoon. The rest of the morning was just working and helping people."
"That explains. I guess rest is needed."
"I mean at least you are a hard-worker." Scarlett said.
"I know that, Scar. Even though I don't like working here due to the clothes that are produced here." Dustin said.
"Well it is like working with technology, so I believe you'll do alright." Zack said.
"Yeah, but still. I don't like working with clothes. I don't care what people say. I'm not gonna get used to it."
"Well, who was the one that fixed up my bodysuit?" Alexis asked.
"Me."
"So… you will be alright. Right, Kaze and Blue?"
"W-Well all I can say is… as long as he knows what he's doing." I said.
"It's not up to me to decide. I can't make him do lots of work." Blue said.
"Yeah, but I'm asking both of you if he'll do alright. Will he do alright?" Alexis asked.
…
…
…
"Y-Yes." Me and Blue said with a sweatdrop.
"Don't worry about it. You two don't have to answer if you don't feel like answering that." Scarlett said.
"Alright. Again, whatever makes your boat float. Anyway, I shouldn't be here too long. Shouldn't your mother be waiting for you guys back home?" Dustin asked.
"Yeah. I think we should get back to our mother since it's almost night time."
"Yeah, I might want to show her my new suit before my work here is done." Alexis said.
"Speaking of work being done, my work here is done anyway." Zack said with a hard sigh.
"Yeah, after all that, you did really work your butt off." Darius said.
"And I think my mother is waiting for me back home, so I have to notify your mother." I said.
"Alright. Well let's get moving and we'll get everything sorted out." Scarlett said.
After leaving Xtreme Speedometer, all of us including Zack are now heading back to the main base. I believe we have been here long enough that it is already getting late. But at least it was a busy day here since this was Blue's first time here and we dealt with a lot of things.
…
Well… not a lot since we've made her do only one thing. Which was to test out her fighting skills as well as her ice magic.
"What do you think about this place, Blue?" I asked.
"I really like it. It seems like a very fun place to be when it comes to Sci-Fi. Although I'm not into Sci-Fi." Blue said. "But I guess my favorite part is having the ability to use magic in the test run. But I have to work on my archery skills to improve accuracy. So I'll have my sister take me to archery classes."
"That's good to hear. I'm sorry to make you late on your time to head home. Speaking of which…"
I went through my pocket and checked my phone to see if my mother responded. After a few seconds of trying to power on…
"Aw Crap. She's worried about me." I whispered after looking through my messages.
"What did she say?" Blue asked.
"She wants me to come home now. She must've been really worried about me after not responding earlier. Let me try to get her attention."
"Alright, we're on our way back. I'm sorry if I didn't respond earlier. It's just that there were a lot of things getting in the way that I didn't get a chance to respond to you." I texted her.
"At least she's on the same page as us. So I don't think we have to panic now."
"Yeah, but I never got a chance to tell that we were about to head back a long time ago. Mainly due to us dealing with so many things."
"Ok… Well let's hurry and get to Ms. Lunia and then we'll get everything sorted out."
"Alright."
By the way, it was just the two of us talking. We just wanted to walk together. We were behind the group though.
We headed towards the next room up ahead to meet Lunia again with the doors being open that time due to somebody using the hand scan that time. I'm just hoping Lunia is alright. I'm not just saying this personally, but after going to a few places, it's likely that she is by herself. I wouldn't say anything else about that. I would say that she's probably focused on work. This is her doing, not me.
"Mom, are you there?" Darius asked.
"I'm still here! Come in!"
"We're back. Here's your card. Smile. I did not purchase multiple things on our way out." Darius said as he gave Lunia her card back.
"And I got my suit fixed. Smile on that. Now I'm almost prepared for the stone war." Alexis said as she showed Lunia her suit.
"And I figured out what was the problem with the internet. We need to set up a new router since the other router is used for a long period of time and is starting to slow down the internet for some people." Zack explained.
"Oh dear, that's not good." Lunia said with a worried look. "So, you'll be helping with Dr. Lotus to set up a new router, right?"
"Yeah. I'm sure he'll have all the tools to originate that thing."
"I see. I hope things don't go downhill from there. Everyone's really worried about the most important thing when it comes to technology. It even bugs me sometimes when I'm controlling stuff like computers, etc."
"The internet bugs you, Ms. Lunia?" Blue asked.
"Yes. When I first discovered the slow connection issue, I had no idea why the apps were taking so long to load. We've only dealt with this once and I'm sure we'll find a way to make it last even LONGER."
"It happens to me too. I tell mom about it. Or Zack since he has the brains of technology." Darius said.
"Oh. So… does everyone use just one router?" Blue asked.
"Yes. And it works for everyone too." Lunia said.
"But its range is so small. How can everyone connect to the internet that easily?" I asked.
"Honestly, you guys can create a lot of routers. The United Kingdom does that there. And it's always stored at people's homes." Blue added.
…
…
…
"Ok… let's put it like this. Do you know what transmission towers are?" Lunia asked the both of us.
…
…
…
"N-No." Me and Blue said, looking confused.
"Transmission towers carry electricity over long distances." She said as she was explaining her point. "Think of it as the manager of electricity. The transmission towers work the electricity at very long areas. The router here does the same thing. It just creates a strong connection in… literally all of Hyperdrive City. So we use just that."
"I see… I think I get it now." I said. "No offense, the process is weird."
"W-Why would you think that?"
"Using only one router for the whole dimension? Honestly, I would prefer people having their own router so that they could have their own strong connection. So that the process would look identical as the United Kingdom. Although, I don't like my own router. I mean, wouldn't lots of people using the only router that you guys have be the reason for the router being slow?"
"Hmm… I see your point. Creating a lot of routers would brighten everyone's day when using the internet." Lunia said after thinking about it.
"Now I'm curious. Because after doing a lot of thinking… creating several routers would be solid because then for us if we get a router, we would get a strong connection and don't have to worry about asking Dr. Lotus for another one." Scarlett said.
"I see your point there… Scarlett, but it takes a lot of production to do such a thing. If I were to build 7 or 9 routers in one day, I would look weary. REALLY weary. Since making a router takes a really long time." Zack explained.
"Yeah, a break would be a need, Zack. I don't expect you to be a work-a-holic often." Lunia said. "But I'm still proud of you trying to help our world with your wizardry in technology."
"Thank you, Mom."
"Hey, Lunia. I think we need to head back now. It's getting late. My mother is going to be disappointed at me if I don't head back soon." I said.
"Oh ok. Well I'm sorry I'm holding you girls up. And I'm sure you might need rest after a long day of training and eating."
"It's fine. It's nothing to worry about. I had a good time."
"Me too. Since this was my first time being here. I like it here." Blue said.
"Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it, Blue. And it was nice seeing you here."
"Yeah. It was nice seeing you too."
"Oh. I almost forgot. You might need this." Lunia said as she spawned a telecator in her hand.
"A telecator? For me?" Blue asked.
"So Kaze told you about it."
"Yeah. That name sounded weird when I first heard it."
"Weird? I don't see anything wrong with that name." Kris said.
"Yeah, but to me, it sounds weird to say. Not to mention, Kaze crashed into me on my way over here. It really hurted, luckily I didn't get any bruises or something."
"Oh dear… ok, maybe I should tell Dr. Lotus about this portal situation." Lunia said with a disappointed look on her face.
"But I'll take it though. Thank you." Blue said as she grabbed the telecator from Lunia's hands.
"Remember though, you two. The stone war begins in several days so we need you two to be really prepared. So the next time you come back, waste no time heading to the training center and start working on your strength and defense. That way you will be off to a head start."
"Ok, Lunia. But should we bring in three more people the next time we come back?" I asked. "Because we are ⅖ of the people with the required elements. And we can't just be stuck with just two people."
"That's right. I'll give you the green light now. Be sure to find some reliable people."
"Don't worry, Lunia. I'm sure those three people will be reliable. If I can get them to join us."
"I'll also be working on my training for archery tomorrow, so just bear with me." Blue said.
"Ok, you do that. It would be better to do that anyway since you struggled to do so the first time you were in training." Lunia said.
"Hopefully the training goes all well the next time you come. I'm sure you ladies will perform." Darius said.
"We will. It's going to take a lot of concentration however." I said to Darius.
"For me, I need a lot of it in archery." Blue said.
"True. It does require concentration."
"Ok. Well, we'll see you all later." I said as I pressed the telecator to open a portal.
"Thanks for the telecator, Lunia. And I'll see you later." Blue said.
"Don't mention it, Blue. Just take good care of it, ok?"
"I will. I won't leave a scratch on it."
"Alright, you both take care of yourselves now."
With the conversation coming to an end, we then warped back to our dimension, the United Kingdom as we were now heading back home. Hopefully Mom is not going to be mad at me for coming home late.
…
…
…
You know, it kinda gives me flashbacks for when I came out of the house this morning. I'll keep this a secret for now. I don't want my mother to know about it. At least… I'll just wait for the right moment.
Author's Note: So y'all thought I was dead, huh? HELL NO! I'm still alive. This chapter… made me do a lot of thinking. It was… I'm just having a hard time fitting in the right words for every sentence I use. That's why I take 20-25 minutes to write a sentence down. And that's why this chapter took TWO WHOLE MONTHS! TWO MONTHS! The point is… I just want to get to the second dimension of the story, but I have to finish up these filler chapters which are going to be boring, but I have to do them. It's for the story and it has to make perfect sense.
Anyway, I got nothing to comment about this chapter. I'm just EXTREMELY ecstatic that I got this done. I'm not doing another day of typing this chapter. I got to move on. I got stuff to do.
I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter, make sure you A. Favorite, B. Follow, And/Or C. Review if you guys are enjoying this story, and I'll see you in the next chapter.
