Chapter 42: Requesting Help From Lunia
"Hey, mom. I'm home." I said as I made it back home quickly.
"Welcome back, Kaze. Did you take care of your business?" Mom asked me as she was laying on the couch.
"Yeah. Just gotta speed my way over to Hyperdrive City to talk to Lunia."
"You must be really focused today, sweetie."
"Y-Yeah, I am focused. I can't leave my assignments empty, can't I?"
"Yes, I know. I never seen you this quite focused before is what I'm saying."
"Oh… well I am. It's because I really have to recruit the people that I want to join me on my mission. Time is of the essence since the stones are about to make their appearance, so I have to tell Lunia that I know who I am going to recruit on my team."
"I hope you're really not overdoing things, sweetie. What if they don't want to join you?" Mom asked.
"I'm gonna explain the situation to them. They might understand why Thanos has been around to take the orange stone."
"Well… *sigh* Like I said, I really hope you know what you are doing, Kaze."
"Don't worry, mom. I'm getting everything covered."
I then went upstairs to my room to only grab my telecator so that I can head to Hyperdrive City. I feel like once I head over there, I'm on my own on finding Lunia's base. Lunia never told me how to get to her base, so…
…
Maybe while I converse with her about recruits, I can tell her about it. It's hard finding my way around the city on my own.
Hopefully I can finally know where I'm going. I never had that much thought about it ever since I first got there.
Once I grabbed my telecator I went on ahead and activated the portal that was in front of me. I made sure my phone was in my pocket just in case I needed to text my mom.
As soon as I was done with the last-minute acquisitions and adjustments, I went inside the portal as I was on my way to Hyperdrive City for the third time. It's almost as if I went there on consecutive days. Time does flow. Probably because I've been having this much fun since Primp Town recently.
Geez, I just love to reminisce about Primp Town so much.
A couple of seconds after I was going through the portal, It looked like someone was about to block my path of making my way into Hyperdrive City.
"What the…"
*SLAM*
"Ack!"
"Gah! Damn it!"
We both slammed into each other, knocking each other into the ground. Almost as if the pain was absolutely real.
"God… Kaze?! Did you really have to do that without a care in the world?!" That was the sound of Darius' voice in which I was on top of him.
"I-I'm sorry! You were blocking the entrance while I was making my presence! It wasn't on purpose!"
…
"God… man, my shoulders hurt 'cuz of you! Whatever. You're here."
I helped Darius get back up after that awkward incident. Luckily I didn't get hurt from unnecessary contact between each other. Maybe it's thanks to that portal of course. I don't like that portal actually. It really needs some reworking.
"It's not your fault, Darius. It's just that the portal has been a bug to me lately. It always sucks me into your world at very high speed." I said.
"I see. So I see my mother still hasn't been working on improving the telecators." Darius said with an annoyed look. "This is going to be a pain for the rest of my life."
"I hope not." I said. "Speaking of your mother, I came here because I need to talk to her about something. And your timing is perfect because I don't know how I can reach her by myself."
"You need to… talk to mom?"
"Yes. It's nothing too serious. It's just personal stuff." I said.
"Well… Alright. I think she's at the base. Gimme a sec." He said as he pulled out his telecator. "God, my shoulders really hurt."
"Were you out for a stroll?" I asked him.
"No. I was going to get me a smoothie from this smoothie place. I forgot the name of the place though."
"Oh ok. That's pretty neat."
"*sigh* It's also pretty neat how we're gonna be working alongside the United Kingdom. How's Blue?"
"She's alright. Nothing too serious has happened back home. It's just me and her doing alright."
"Yeah. That's great to hear… alright. The portal should be up and running so I think you should be good to go."
"Alright. Thank you so much. I didn't think you would be this helpful."
"Y-Yeah… n-no problem." Darius said while blushing. "You just say the word if you need anything else. I'ma be on my way now."
"O-Ok. Take care then." I said as he walked away from me.
D-Did I make him blush? He must've liked what I said about him. Well… he may be confusing, but he is helpful at least. We are friends after all.
Moments later, the portal was spawned near me as I went ahead and went through it and inside Lunia's base, hoping to find Lunia.
But honestly, in my mind, I remember Cordelia finding a way to get inside the entrance.
Wait a minute… I don't think I might be able to get in… mainly because I'm not authorized. I might as well have to knock to get in.
After walking a few more miles, I managed to reach the automatic doors.
*KNOCK* *KNOCK* *KNOCK*
No response after knocking.
*KNOCK* *KNOCK* *KNOCK* *KNOCK*
No response after that.
I wonder why she's not answering.
*KNOCK* *KNOCK* *KNOCK* *KNOCK* *KNOCK* *KNOCK* *KNOCK*
"Please use the hand scan! So I know who it is!" I heard Lunia say.
"It's Kaze! Am I supposed to have authorization first?!" I said.
"Oh, Kaze?! I don't think you are authorized yet! Hold on! I'll let you in!"
I watched the automatic doors slide open in front of me, allowing me to finally have entry without using the hand scan. That's what I really like to see.
"Hello, Lunia." I said as I entered the other room.
"Welcome back, Kaze." Lunia said. "I see you've finally made it here all by yourself. That's really excellent."
"A-Actually, I didn't find my way here. Darius helped me get here using his telecator."
"Oh. You still don't know how to get here. I guess it is my fault for not telling you how to get here." Lunia said in guilt.
"It's not your fault. It's only been three times since I've made my presence so you didn't do anything wrong."
"Ok. Thank you for being patient with me."
"However, I'm experiencing another problem though. The telecator has been a bug to me lately. Likely because I've been crashing into people and causing injuries. Darius claimed his shoulders were hurting after I crashed into him, going inside your world."
"I see. That sure isn't a good thing I needed to hear. How bad was the crash?"
"It wasn't serious. It was just Darius' shoulders hurting after I collided with him. Hopefully those can heal."
"I'll take a look at your telecator later so that I can make some adjustments to it. In the meantime, what brings you here?"
I guess I gotta admit it to her.
"I wanted to talk to you about how many days I've taken to recruit the people I've wanted. I know who I want to pick, but I'm not sure if I have the charisma to convince them both since they are both celebrities and I don't want them to miss out on doing what they love doing best."
"I see… maybe I can help… a little bit on this."
"A little bit?" I asked, looking a bit confused.
"I know I wanted to receive letters just like I gave you one, but I haven't got the chance to know about them yet. Mainly because our world has been and is focusing on other dimensions outside of the United Kingdom and finding their identity. Finding their identity in the United Kingdom can be too much since there's lots and lots of people over there and we won't be able to have enough time to move on. I'm sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear."
"Oh. Probably because of this dimension being small, I assume?"
"No, it's quite big. We just need people who can help identify people everywhere in the universe. So that we can understand the situation and what we are dealing with. Hopefully we can speed this up by any chance."
"Ok. That makes sense."
"But the best I can do is write them both a serious letter, knowing how serious this apocalypse is, and I would strongly recommend joining our squad. I'll think of them as the chosen ones that can help protect the world from apocalypse."
"Ok. That helps so much. Thank you."
"Not a problem, Kaze. You can always rely on a trustful goddess like myself." Lunia said with a huge smile. "But I want to know their names first before I do such a thing."
Sorry, Xavier and Lucas. It's all girls for this.
"Their names are Gemma January and Candace Maxey. If that's her last name."
"Alright. I'll do everything in my power to make it work. I'm sorry if you had a hard time finding someone. I know it is not necessary to talk to strangers about joining this team, so I'll do everything I can to help."
"But wait a minute… How much time do we have left? When will the yellow stone appear? Do you know?" I asked Lunia.
"We have 4 days left. So it would be best if you find your fifth member so we can make this team confirmed. I know this is hard, but don't panic. If I were you, I would choose one of your friends for this. That way you don't have to keep searching for people that want to take part in this huge test."
"I guess I could try that option. I don't really know what other things I have left in my system."
"You don't have any plans right?" Lunia asked.
"Well, I have two events that I'm going to this evening and tomorrow. Blue told me it's really entertaining and she expects me to go there. Gemma and Candace are both making their presences on both of those events."
"Ok, then maybe I can give them their letters now and you can pass it to them, but you have to tell them not to open them until after they are finished with their events."
"Ok. If I can get them to notice me. I just hope things don't go south from there. It can be a huge kick in the stomach if this doesn't go well. I'm doing everything I can to get things prepared."
Hopefully.
"I believe in you. You just gotta do what you have to do. Oh yeah. And Blue as well. She might need assistance on this as well."
"Ok. Wait! I forgot about her! I didn't know she was on my side this whole time!" I said with a shocked expression.
"I guess someone forgot she had assistance." Lunia said with a sweatdrop.
"*groan* I'm sure I'm gonna get it alright." I said in regret.
"Make sure to check on Blue too. She might've made some progress on this as well."
"I will. I can't believe I had Blue to help me out and didn't use her to my advantage."
"Well we've got time. You might have 2 days after the last event. But I think it's also time that you have to start training to prepare for the stone hunt."
"Oh yeah. That's likely true. I don't want to start off unprepared. It's not a good sign for me."
"That's true. Ok, let me see your telecator. I think I can correct the mistakes I've made when I was only trying to mark the areas that people can go to."
I handed Lunia the telecator as she was getting ready to type in some stuff in her little holographic screen. I guess Sci-Fi is nothing to be looked away from.
That was when I said this to Lunia…
"You know, this world honestly has made Sci-Fi my interest. Honestly because you have so much futuristic stuff. I can't even explain it, your world is really amazing."
"Thank you very much. I'm glad you like it, Kaze. In fact, I'm really ecstatic that you gave this world a chance. I'm looking forward to making it even better for you."
"Although, I'm more of a book reader, I guess that would please me more."
"I know. Books are your favorite. I think you and Scarlett will have a superb link. You both have quite the IQ so I think you both will lead the way on this adventure."
"Err… honestly, when it comes to video games, I don't have that many tools for this one. Mainly because I'm more used to playing Pac-Man." I said with a sweatdrop.
I wonder if Scarlett feels the same thing.
"Well, I think you'll do great. Even my children will do great. Here's your telecator. I've set your locations to the entrance of Hyperdrive City, Dr. Lotus' lab, and my base, so you should be good to go. I'll next try to get your authorization and I'll get straight to the letters. I'll inform him that you'll come by at any time if you ever need assistance from him.
"Thank you so much. It seems my friends in this world might get off to a head start though. I mean the boys. Probably because they have more knowledge than I have at the moment."
"I understand, but the Mushroom Kingdom should be an easy start for you. It's not as violent as the other dimensions besides Gamindustri since it has a lot of chaos over there."
"Yeah. I guess it is not that violent. I'll just give it my all."
"That's what I like to hear. Alright, now what I want you to do is— come over here to this screen."
I did as I was told and went over to the holographic screen.
"All you have to do is type in your name, gender, your birth date, and you're gonna put your hand on the handprint so the scanner can recognize your handprint." Lunia explained.
"Oh? That's it?"
"Yup. It's just easy authorization."
I then typed in my name, gender, birth date as I was getting ready to be authorized into the center of Lunia's base.
After doing those required things, I then placed my hand on the handprint screen as I was on the near brink of getting authorized. I honestly didn't think it would be that easy since I have dealt with lots of stuff like this in which I can't tell you guys. It's a pain if you ask me.
"And there you go." Lunia said as I was finished with the authorization. "All it was doing was just scanning your handprint to make it recognizable so that you can enter inside."
"Ok. Looks like I'm making very fast progress." I said with a small smile.
"Yup. You really are. Now there is one more thing you need me to take care of."
"Mhm."
"I think it's going to be a while though even though I made your letter shorter."
"Take your time. I think we need to be smart about this anyway."
"Fair enough. Just give me a moment while I go to my notes screen and get started right away."
*12 MINUTES LATER*
"Alright. There you go, Kaze. Two invitation letters. Just what you need." Lunia said as she was done making the letters for Gemma and Candace and passed them to me.
"Thank you very much. You are a big help today."
"Don't mention it. Remember, Kaze. You're on your own now. It's the only help I can give you."
"Alright. I'll even get Blue to help me out on this."
"Ok. Make sure you do that. Or even ask her if she's making progress on getting the people that we can trust."
"I'll make sure I do that as well."
"But in the meantime, is there anything else I can help you with?"
"Nope. That was everything I wanted so I'm done here."
"Ok. Hopefully this helps us make vast progress. Or rather, I hope we get good results out of it."
"I'm just crossing my fingers. I'm doing everything I can to connect the pieces here. Alright, see you later, Lunia."
"Stay safe, Kaze. Come back here, anytime. Before you go though, test out the telecator to see if you'll spawn back here without having to launch yourself at mach speed."
"Alright."
I pressed the "Activate" button on the telecator as I went through the portal and I was back in my room.
The portal now disappeared as I went to the locations on the telecator and picked Lunia's base. I pressed "Activate" on the telecator.
And finally, the portal looked exactly the way it was when I went through seconds ago.
There we go.
I went through the portal and inside Lunia's base. I immediately went to the hand scan and placed my hand there. After a few seconds…
*ACCESS GRANTED*
The doors automatically opened and I made my way back inside.
"It worked perfectly. And so did the portal." I said with a smile.
"Nice! Alright, now you are prepared. I hope this helps you whenever you want to step into Hyperdrive City."
"Alright. Thank you so much, Lunia."
"No problem. Again, stay safe."
I used the portal to take myself back home as I went through and arrived back to my room.
Now that I've got my letters, authorization to get inside the center of Lunia's base, the portal problem and the locations of Hyperdrive City situated, I have now made rapid progress. Well… "we" made rapid progress. If you count Lunia.
But… Now I have to find a person to trust on my own. Someone who knows about these stones. This isn't an easy task for me. But Lunia says it's time for me to find a person on my own.
…
…
…
Or… if Blue can help. It's tough.
Maybe at the party, I'll get a word from her.
