IDK about this chapter and I know the Caroline part is kind of random but it will all make sense soon (I think) I also like the softer side of Klaus, that only some people get, there will be more of that soon. leave reviews pls

Later that night, Klaus slipped into bed beside his love. She was asleep, facing away from him. Carefully, he manoeuvred his arms underneath her and pulled Caroline's body into his. She rolled over, facing away from him again. Klaus's guilt went into spiral mode. He had to get her what she wanted. She was gonna get her family. He rested his head on top of hers, breathing in the shampoo. It was different. Mango and… maybe passionfruit? He would ask her in the morning. For now, he had to figure out how to give Caroline the one thing she wanted more than anything. He closed his eyes and relaxed his tensed body, feeling her warmth against him.

In the morning, Klaus was excited to tell Caroline about his solution. He had made pancakes and waffles, with bacon, syrup and blood in mugs. Caroline came down, pleasantly surprised at Klaus's mood. She nibbled at the breakfast as Klaus nattered to her. She didn't hear much of it, until he said "family."
""Huh?" She dropped her pancake onto her plate.

"Yeah, you know you can have one, I just have to, hold on a second, I have it just by…it was under here a second ago, maybe under the panca- of course, yes i have it. Here," he handed her a small white card with a number and address. "It's for a coven of powerful witches. They can help give you a child. It would be ours, our own child. Caroline?" He looked expectantly at Caroline, waiting for her smile and joyous cry, but it never came. Her eyes glazed over and she stared absently at the wall. He walked around the island to her.

"Caroline?" Klaus reached his hand to her upper arm. She flinched away. He stopped and let out a choking gasp. It felt as if a thousand knives had been twisted through his heart. As he turned away, he saw a glimmer of a tear fall down her cheek, and that hurt him more than anything. His love, his responsibility, his world, his universe, was crying. And Klaus had no idea how to stop it.
Gently, hesitantly, he wrapped his arms around the tense Caroline and lifted her up against his chest. She collapsed, sobbing and weeping. He power-jumped up the stairs and walked human pace to their bedroom. He looked into Hayley and Elijah's room as they passed. They had gone out, leaving a note on the bed.

It read "Seen your research. Giving privacy. You're welcome. Hayley & Elijah xx" He smiled.

He could always count on his family. He realised Caroline was still sobbing in his arms, so he ran as smoothly as he could to their bedroom and set her down on the sofa.

"Love, what's the matter? Did someone hurt you? Tell me who and I'll hurt them," he murmured, thinking 'I'll do more than hurt them, I'll whip them until they're numb and break every bone in their hands and then, as they beg for mercy I'll rip their heart right out of their chest and watch as the light goes out of their eyes'.

He saw that Caroline was trying to speak through the tears. He dropped down beside her, stroking her hair and squeezing her hand in reassurance.

"I'm right here, love, it's okay. You can talk to me. I'll listen if you need me to. What do you need? Blood? Do you need to sleep? Did I wake you this morning?" Klaus didn't know much about women other than what Rebekah had told him, so he had no idea what to do.

Caroline was still curled up in a ball. He stretched out his legs and pulled her into him, dropping kisses onto the top of her head. In his straddle position, he was able to push her legs down until she was stretched out in between him. Her back was iron-rod straight and so he started to push it down. He felt no resistance, as soon as he brushed her shoulders she slumped and fell into him. What was the matter with her? Klaus was worried. He silently begged her to be okay, to whichever God belonged to the Un-Dead Hybrids. She was hardly breathing, and her heartbeat was slow. Was she sick? Is that possible? In shock? You know, thought Klaus, that might be it. He heard her heartbeat pick up faster and faster until it was going rapidly. Then it stopped.

"Caroline! Caroline! Wake up, goddammit, wake up!" Klaus yelled. She didn't stir. He fell to the floor sobbing on his knees.

She lay motionless on the bed, not breathing. "You can't, you can't do this to me, you promised me forever, I said forever, our family, our life," he was whispering, trembling now.

"Stay with me, Caroline, you can't, it can't happen, please," he begged. Tears fell on his cheeks and his family came around him. Elijah laid a hand on one of his shoulders, Kol on the other. Rebekah pulled a blanket over Caroline and Hayley stood silently crying, leaning into Elijah.

"No please, she's not, she's still alive, she has to be," Klaus wept. "Bonnie Bennett! You're a witch! Do something!" he screamed, spinning around to face her. "Bring her back!"

Bonnie shook her head. "I can't."

She dropped and Enzo caught her. They left, too upset to attend the funeral. Damon and Elena joined them after. Stefan whispered his goodbye to Caroline and vamped away. Eventually it was just Klaus and Caroline's glossy black-and-gold coffin. Or so he thought. A woman appeared behind him.

"Niklaus Mikaelson? I have something for you. Or, more accurately, someone."

"Get out," he growled without turning around.

She used her witchiness and spun his body around. She was a tall, brown-skinned woman with black hair and dark grey eyes.

"Caroline's final wish for me was to give you the one thing she could never have." Behind her, another witch appeared with a bundle of blanket in her arms. "He is unnamed and only a month old. The first part of Caroline's family." And with that, they disappeared.

"Come back!" shouted Klaus. "I don't want him. Not without Caroline," he added softly. The baby began to cry. Klaus grumbled under his breath and picked it up.

"You're gonna be my son, little one. I know. You picked the short straw. Your mother, my Caroline, would've been so much better. I would've died for her. I still have to read her will. Shall we read it together?"

To My Lovely Klaus,

Christopher Tyler Elijah Mikaelson. You understand? That's gonna be his name. Tyler, because he never gave up on us, and Elijah, for your brother. You treat him kindly, okay? In the house, you'll find lots of notes and stuff. It'll help. I leave everything I got for you. He's a werewolf. Trigger his curse and make him a hybrid when he gets to 26. Okay? 26. Let Rebekah help, she deserves it. You're going to be a great father, I know it. You don't have to remind or tell him about me, because it will be horrible for you.

You must be wondering how I died. Our children were made with our DNA. But the witches need something to draw power from. It was me. I never told you. You were so happy that morning, you'd found a way to give me a family. But it was already done. I love you Klaus. I never thought I would, but I do. And I'm watching you. I promise I am. I love Christopher too. Tell him that. Tell him everyday that we both love him, okay? I'll be with you every step of the way.

Love, Caroline xxx

Klaus's tears dripped onto the baby's blanket. He had to make Caroline proud. He had to prove that he could be a good father.

"Your name is going to be Christopher, little one. Christopher Tyler Elijah Mikaelson. Let's meet your uncles and aunties now."

They reached the house just after 3 o'clock. Christopher was sitting quietly in his seat with a bottle of milk. They had stopped at Target to get everything they needed, and people had cooed and smiled at Christopher's smiley face. They walked in, immediately at Klaus's side. They didn't notice the white blanket in his arms. Then Rebekah squealed.

"Oh my god, Klaus! Who is this?" Klaus explained the story. Elijah, Rebekah, Kol and Hayley were stunned into shock.

It was Elijah who spoke first. "You have my full support, Niklaus, and I thank Caroline for naming him after me." He kissed the top of Christopher's head and stood next to Klaus. Rebekah was so happy.

She carried Benjamin in her arms and smiled up at Klaus.

"Nik, please let me help raise him. Please?" When Klaus said what Caroline had wanted, her smile grew even bigger. Hayley just smiled. Kol looked annoyed.

"Why didn't I get named?"

"Little brother, I haven't a clue, but it's what Caroline wanted. I'm sure she has a plan for you."

Kol grumbled a little bit, but he couldn't stay mad. "Little Christopher, hey? We'll have to think of some nicknames for you. Christopher just won't do."

Klaus smiled and the relief he felt was consuming him. His family would be there to help him. Every step of the way.
