The next morning was a peaceful one. Christopher slept easily, Elijah and Hayley were quiet in their room all night before leaving early in the morning for New Orleans to visit family. Kol went along with them to pick up his fiancée Davina, and Rebekah was busy baby-proofing downstairs. But Klaus was sick. He felt bored and he was running low on blood, as the supply here was less than that of New Orleans, his home before marrying Caroline. It had been years, but he still wasn't used to the limited supply. In New Orleans it was like an early morning, first-one-there buffet of blood, every type you can imagine, but Mystic Falls was more like a got-up-late, nearly finished buffet, with the bare minimum of blood.
He stormed downstairs with murder on his mind and was about to slam the door shut before spying Rebekah in the living room. She was sobbing harder than he had ever seen. This fuelled Klaus's anger more. If someone had hurt her... He cooled his features and entered the room. "Rebekah? Whatever is the matter now?"
"It hardly matters. Go away."
"Rebekah don't be childish. Tell me what the problem is so I can solve it as I usually do."
"You also usually cause them, you brute!"
"I came for once to not argue but to comfort. Do not make me change my mind."
"Oh but I am such a horrid person for my problems. They can't be solved and will only make others unhappy," another tear fell from her eyes. Klaus thought for a moment over what could be her 'unsolvable problems'. His mind unconsciously drifted to his new baby who slept above them.
"Oh little sister. You feel again how unlucky you are to be unable to have a family. I thought we discussed this. If the cure is found, it is yours to use or spill or whatever you wish. Why let yourself feel like this?"
"Because look at you! You had a lover, sorry Nik, and you didn't have to give up your immortality for a child, possibly even a second!"
"BUT I HAD TO GIVE UP MY ONE TRUE LOVE! THE ONE PERSON IN MY LIFE WHO I TRULY LOVED WITH EVERYTHING! GONE!" And by screaming, Klaus had woken Christopher. In an instant he had dashed upstairs and brought the wailing baby down. "You want a baby, little sister? Here you go. Yours to keep. And you also have a lover, a husband actually, alive, so do not ask for pity."
He left Christopher in Rebekah's lap and vamped away into the woods. Two campers, young and alone, were napping peacefully. Klaus knew he shouldn't, he wasn't allowed, but he also knew they were from out of town and without families. He drank their blood until they were fully dry, then transformed into a wolf to devour their flesh while they were still warm. He left but bones, and after transforming back, he crushed them in his hands and dropped the powder into the river. His strength was now back almost tenfold. He could do anything. Go anywhere. But instead, his mind kept wandering to the argument with his sister, and to her new husband.
