Hi, so even though I shouldn't be starting a new story but I am so...yeah...

This is based of the Season 10 Episode Bone To Pick which has a subplot of Frank dealing with a staff member having an affair with another's wife. I had a REAL problem with this episode mainly because while I don't condone cheating Frank's main plan was to break up the affair because as he put it the husband was so good at his job that he couldn't take anything bad happening in his life. Like seriously?! So this little plot was born about what if it was Eddie who was having the affair with Jamie and she was planning to leave her 'super important' husband. It really did get me how Frank felt he was justified meddling in the marriage because the husband was good at his job and so that made it all alright to speak to the woman or get Baker to speak to the woman and ask her to stay with her husband even though he had no idea what was going on behind closed doors.

So yeah-slight rant over but that's just where I am.

This is going to be about eleven chapters.

Chapter 1-A Wounded Heart

You always think you have enough time. And then you don't.

When she reaches for him he comes alive.

It's as simple as that. And all the rights and wrongs and Catholicism and thou shall not covert another man's wife go out the window because when she touches him he can feel himself come alive. This is not some pathetic lust induced arrangement for him to get his dick wet this is a nine months affair in which they are carefully finding a way out.

Eddie comes to him Friday night and they make love slowly. Jamie to be honest is on her before she even gets through the door. They've had to do it in a motel this time and they will for the time after that and any other time that they need. Home is not an option for her and for him…and a motel is not ideal but he knows that it's tricky. Motels leave traces but then again motels make it easier for her husband to believe that she is taking time from their marriage, that she is hiding here licking the wounds he inflicted on her while he dances the merry dance around Jamie's dad convinced that he is indispensable.

Jamie doesn't care. For six hours he gets Eddie Jenko (he refuses to call her by her married name) in his arms and in his bed and he gets to love her the way she deserves and that is more than enough for him.

(It's not…but he makes it enough and if he tells himself it is at some point he will start to believe it)

Eddie is on him the second that he pulls her through the door and he strips her of her jacket. He got their first and he's out of his shoes and shirt and socks but she rips at what's left of his clothes as he does the same with her and they fall backwards onto the bed. He dips his tongue and he closes his eyes as he inhales the perfume of her skin. He loves her. He can't stand to be apart from her and these stolen moments are all that he gets and he gets them only when her husband is away, only when Jamie's father is working him so hard that he is indispensable.

The whole thing makes his teeth ache he thinks.

The first round is usually fast and hectic and then Eddie flips them and takes him for the second. Two rounds of passionate lovemaking usually means that they have to catch their breath and he looks at her in the softly lit room and he catalogues all the changes.

He sees it near the small of her back. What looks like a boot print and he feels his teeth grit together with rage. The fury hits him but at this point he doesn't do anything. In the early days of their affair he would hit the roof when he saw evidence of her husband's abuse now he doesn't…she doesn't like it when he gets angry. She prefers his slow silent deadly kind of rage that promises revenge. And Jamie will have his revenge. He knows that with every time they meet up she gets closer to leaving him, cash squirreled away, preparations should he turn on her mother and father which was the reason she married him in the first place. Both of them are reconciled to it being the end of their careers and unbeknownst to her he has reconciled to losing a lot less.

"Do I want to know?" he asks tapping one finger against the boot print.

Eddie sighs. She can feel his anger no doubt coming from the other end of the bed and she turns around tucking herself up by his side. He runs a hand through the golden locks and she rests her head on his shoulder looking at a really ugly photo of a woman with a monkey in one hand that seems to be watching them with a judgemental gaze.

"Your father didn't approve an increase in the budget" she says and there is sarcasm in her tone. There is no love lost between Eddie and his father despite the fact that the two of them have never met. Jamie knows that the nights Eddie is forced to play perfect wife get worse when his father has something to ask of his terrorism chief, when he heaps praise on the intelligence unit as the one keeping New York safe. Sal when he is puffed up with pride is even worse and it takes very little to set him off.

And it really is coupled with the fact that as far as his father thinks what Russo does cannot be done by anyone else. His father has said as much to the press, to the rank and file, to them…he makes it clear that the only thing preventing another 9/11 is Sal and his utter commitment to the cause.

Of course Jamie knows his father doesn't know that he takes out his stress, his frustration and his boredom on his wife but at this point he isn't entirely sure that would matter. And that he has to concede is a horrible thing to think about one's father and that very probably his own father wouldn't think like that. But that is all that he has left. In these stolen moments with his ex partner, the woman he has heart and soul grown to love he knows that this is all that he has left. If it's a choice between his Dad and Eddie, between the job and Eddie, then she wins every time around.

It's just the way it is.

"I am going to leave him" she says and her voice is like stone. Jamie refuses to laugh even if it is heavy with irony.

"I know you think that I've said that before" Eddie says quietly. "But I am going to leave him. I went to a lawyer and had the papers drawn up, I documented everything, the abuse, I stopped lying for him. People know now. So it won't be because of you. I can do this without torpedoing your career"

"Hell I don't care about that you know I don't"

"I know" she says looking up at him and running a hand down his jaw. "But I care about that and you know I do. The thought of you losing something out of this…because of me"

"But think about what I am gaining" he says softly and she smiles though her eyes are very, very sad.

"It has to be now Jamie. I need it to be now."

"Okay"

It's not like he doesn't agree with her but he does wonder just what has brought this around. Eddie has never been so firm on a timescale before. They both know that this has to happen but still…

She reaches out and takes his hand as if she is reading his mind and then she places it on her naked stomach.

Jamie stare at her not getting it and then his brain catches up with what she is trying to say.

"Really?"

She nods.

"Three tests. And yes it can only be…yours…and he will know it too. We haven't…I mean in a long time Jamie and if he finds out…if I am not out of that house backed up by all the paperwork I can get then he is going to make me get rid of it, I can see it, he's either going to drag me down to the clinic by my hair or he is going to beat it out of me and I don't—" she trails off as her breaths hitch and she looks at him wildly and Jamie reaches out and takes her face in his hands, pulls her onto his lap and stares up at her holding her close as if she can burrow into his side and become a part of his ribs…another part of his heart, an attachment.

"Shush darlin" he says holding her. She fits perfectly around him he thinks and his hand is still on her stomach like a brand where their child, his child is growing In her belly.

"Eddie shush…I am not…" he swallows and he feels that hot Irish Reagan blood heat up again. He feels the urge to smash his face into her bastard husband's face if he so much as turns his gaze on this baby. This precious soul he will defend until his last breath. Both of them he will defend…

"I am not gonna let that happen" he says quietly. "I am not gonna let anything happen to this baby or to you okay…" he nods his head as if that is going to change anything. "I am going to protect you both" he promises…no he vows. It's something that for him is unbreakable and unshakable and unchangeable and he needs her to believe it. That he loves her, that she is it for him, that this baby they have both made is a blessing.

Eddie looks at him her eyes very wet and scared.

"I am thinking…I will move out end of this week. Come to you…slap him with a restraining order and then…I have some annual leave set up so if I take it then that gives me three weeks before he can find me and hopefully…" she bites down hard on her lip as if she is thinking that three weeks will be enough for the anger to subside when they both know it will be the opposite.

Jamie is silent. He knows in his head he is clocking his own leave, wondering how much he can take with her, wondering if it is not worth it to get out of the city.

"Are you…this doesn't screw things up for you does it?" she asks.

"No" he says softly. He kisses her again. "No darling…this…this is the best news possible. This is our child…our family"

She collapses against him with a shudder as if a puppet with the strings cut and then he tucks her by her side.

"I will get you out of this" he vows. "I will get you out of this Eddie I promise you"

He means it too.

He books his leave off that night, by the morning it's approved because his boss is like that and he holds her close as sunlight peeps through the shitty curtains and he knows that the real world is crashing back around them.

He kisses her as they leave the motel room and she giggles against his lips and his hand finds her belly.

They don't notice the dark SUV in the corner of the motel parking lot.

Ironic really.

Sid's mouth is by his shoes. Abigail isn't much better she just prides herself on being more dignified. To be honest when they were asked to prove the affair she'd had more misgivings than she dared to voice. Even Brian had pointed out over curry that night that it probably wasn't best to use the phrase, but this is not 1930s Germany to her boss.

"It just feels wrong" she had said and Brian had hummed and then offered her the last of the garlic naan.

She knew there had been a reason why she had married that man.

She sighs and slams the camera shut.

"Well I didn't see that coming" she says into the silent car.

"No" Sid breathes.

Abigail sighs and resists the urge to say something very unladylike.

"So" Sid says quietly still looking at the motel door as if he has a time machine where he doesn't see the Commissioner's youngest son committing adultery with the married wife of the intelligence chief and his father's close friend.

"Whose going to tell the boss?"

And there you go, hope you enjoy this and let me know what you think.

Next Chapter-Frank didn't know what he had been expecting when Baker and Sid had come back from their assignment. But he was not expecting this.
