Episode 15: Slumber Party! Part One
ll
ll
Everyone stared at Usagi, then to the Lotus, and then at Makoto.
ll
ll
(Makoto) Usagi. That was the thing that I was talking about! The thing that looked like me in the memories! The one in there looked like it saw ME!
ll
ll
(Usagi) Nonono, that can't be right. Those events took place thousands of years ago, but... it knew who I was in my last life. How can something so ancient know such things, let alone, be alive for so long...?
ll
ll
Rei, Minako and Ami stepped forward, frustrated.
ll
ll
(Rei) Apologies for interrupting, but will someone explain what just happened!?
ll
ll
(Ami) Usagi, what happened in there, was Makoto telling the truth?
ll
ll
(Minako) What "Thing" are you two talking about!?
ll
ll
(Lotus) ENOUGH.
ll
ll
For the first time, the Lotus' voice seemed to have some amount of emotion. Frustration.
ll
ll
(Lotus) Please... go home for the night. We will reconvene tomorrow, and I promise, I will explain everything to you.
ll
ll
Haruka and Hotaru were about to step forward when Setsuna and Michiru stopped them.
ll
ll
(Setsuna) Understood.
ll
ll
(Michiru) We'll help these two get home safe.
ll
ll
(Lotus) Thank you.
ll
ll
The group left, most of them frustrated from not understanding, but it was quickly replaced with pity as they saw the mental states of Usagi and Makoto, as they tried to comfort each other.
ll
ll
But it was clear that the two were traumatized by something. Seeing as they were completely paranoid, Usagi, who didn't take her eyes off of the others, and Makoto, who looked at all of their surroundings, fearing she'd see whatever being had scared her in the first place.
ll
ll
As the group passed through the portal and went back to Setsuna's apartment, Usagi and Makoto began walking towards Usagi's car.
ll
ll
(Rei) Hey, you sure it should just be you two?
ll
(Ami) Yeah, we could accompany you two for the night if it'd make you feel better.
ll
ll
(Minako) Yeah, it could be like a sleepover, just like the old times!
ll
ll
Usagi and Makoto looked at each other for a second, worried, but then Usagi flashed Makoto a faint smile, and the two agreed.
ll
ll
Usagi drove to her own home, as did Minako, Ami and Rei, to grab some personal belongings, before driving to Makoto's High Rise Apartment Building.
ll
ll
Usagi drove there in the front with Makoto as her passenger, followed by Minako and then Ami at the end with Rei as her passenger.
ll
ll
In her car, Rei talked to Ami.
ll
ll
(Rei) So... do you think Makoto was serious?
ll
ll
(Ami) About... what?
ll
ll
(Rei) Y'know... the whole thing with Usagi...?
ll
ll
(Ami) Hm... As much as I'd like to say that Makoto was probably joking, unfortunately, I know those eyes. I've seen too many trauma patients at the hospital with those same eyes...
ll
ll
(Rei) Which are...?
ll
ll
(Ami) Trauma. Mental Trauma from an extremely traumatic event, such as a survivor of a deadly crash, witnessing a murder, years of abuse... and that... is something that cannot be faked.
ll
ll
(Rei) So you really think Usagi did that? Killed clones of us with her Warframe's talons!? I can't... no, I refuse to believe she would do something so... horrific.
ll
ll
(Ami) But remember... she wasn't doing that for herself. She was forced to do it out of pure survival instinct. She was faced with something humans are hardwired to be terrified of, something that LOOKS human, but isn't.
ll
ll
(Rei) I guess, that makes sense... but that means she killed...US... multiple times...
ll
ll
(Ami) I really hope you don't plan on asking her or Mako about it. That'd be extremely insensitive, as well as very, very dangerous.
ll
ll
(Rei) Of course I wasn't planning on it- Wait, why would it be dangerous? This is Usagi we're talking about, she wouldn't hurt the real us.
ll
ll
(Ami) But what if she didn't know if it was the real us? What then?
ll
ll
A shiver ran down Rei's spine, as she remembered some of the ways Usagi was dispatching the Sentients.
ll
ll
(Rei) Yeah... you got a point there.
ll
*Buzzzz* *Buzzzz* *Buzzzzz*
ll
(Rei) Hm?
ll
ll
Rei picked up her phone and saw it was Minako's phone I.D.
ll
ll
(Rei) Hey Minako, what's up?
ll
ll
(Minako) Well... I was wondering... have you guys thought about what happened right now on the Moon?
ll
ll
(Rei) Heh, funny you should ask, me and Ami were just discussing it.
ll
ll
(Minako) Oh. So... do you guys think it's safe? For us to be sleeping near Usagi...?
ll
ll
(Rei) What the-!? What the hell do you mean by that!?
ll
ll
(Minako) Rei, I saw Makoto, sure, she's our resident jester. But this wasn't a joke.
ll
ll
(Minako) You saw her, how terrified she was. And when Usagi came to, she was extremely hesitant when approaching Usagi. She wasn't lying.
ll
ll
(Rei) And, what are you getting at?
ll
ll
(Minako) Rei, she was killing, no, slaughtering copies of us in droves! What if she snaps this time, thinking that we're not the real versions of ourselves? She could slit our throats in our sleep.
ll
ll
(Rei) Minako, don't be ridiculous, she's one hell of a fighter, but she's not stealthy enough to pull off something so precise.
ll
ll
(Minako) I don't know... I think one of us should keep watch, just to be safe.
ll
ll
(Rei) Okay, and it seems that you're volunteering yourself. Thanks for watching over us Mina!
ll
ll
(Minako) WHAT? Aw crap. Fine. I guess it'll be me, but if I see something happening, I'm screamin like no tomorrow, just know that.
ll
ll
(Rei) Alright, just don't be obvious, it could freak the two of them out even more if you're not careful.
ll
ll
(Minako) Yeah, yeah, whatever. But before we go to bed, let's try and lighten the mood.
ll
ll
(Rei) Yeah, let's do that. I don't think those two will sleep if all they can think about is what they saw.
ll
ll
(Minako) Oh, looks like we're here. See you inside.
ll
ll
(Rei) Yeah.
ll
ll
The two ended the call, and the three cars drove into the parking garage of Makoto's apartment.
ll
ll
After getting out of their cars, the three could see that Usagi and Makoto still seemed shaken up.
ll
ll
The five went up to Makoto's apartment in silence, with Minako, Rei and Ami all exchanging confused looks, wondering how they should break the silence.
ll
ll
As Makoto opened her door and walked in, the three stared in awe at the size and beauty of the two floored apartment.
ll
ll
(Makoto) Well... make yourselves at home.
ll
ll
(Minako) Holy Shit Mako! This place is huge! How have none of us ever been here!?
ll
ll
(Ami) I know... so spacious... and pretty...
ll
ll
Usagi and Rei exchanged glances, remembering their... "moments" in the apartment.
ll
ll
As everyone looked around, the three noticed that, this sleep over was seeming more like a good idea, as Usagi and Makoto both seem distracted by their presence as Minako and Ami continued to comment on the beauty and size of the place.
ll
ll
After taking showers and changing, the girls all met up in Makoto's living room, which looked out over the Tokyo Skyline.
ll
ll
The girls sat around, relaxing. And as things began to slow down, Makoto and Usagi seemed to be muting themselves.
ll
ll
And then Minako had the grand Idea to ask Usagi a question out of nowhere as a mischievous smirk rose upon her face.
ll
ll
(Minako) So... Usagi... I heard you went to the states a little while ago.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yeah... I went for a little trip.
ll
ll
(Minako) Yeah, a little trip... to see Mamoru.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yeah... it had been awhile and... well... I wanted to see how he was doing.
ll
ll
(Minako) That's nice... sure you weren't there because of a certain... feeling, Usagi?
ll
ll
(Usagi) What do you mean Minako?
ll
ll
(Minako) Oh... y'know... a certain..."heat"?
ll
ll
It took a moment for Usagi to register what Minako was hinting at. And when it dawned upon her, she covered her face with her hands as her face went beet red.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Huh... what do you mean by... ... ... OH MY GOD! MINAKO!
ll
ll
Everyone got a small kick out of the joke.
ll
ll
(Minako) Oh I'm just messin with ya Usagi. But in all seriousness... how is he over there?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well... he's seems to be doing pretty well over there. He hasn't changed a bit...
ll
ll
(Rei) He he... we could all say the same about you, Usagi.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Huh?
ll
ll
(Makoto) She does have a point. Under that toughened exterior, you're still the same, bubbly, fierce, silly girl from high school.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well, in that case, none of us have really strayed from who we used to be.
ll
ll
(Minako) Yeah, we've only really changed physically.
ll
ll
The group giggled a little, as they stared back out at the Tokyo Skyline, as it's lights never dimmed as the night went on.
ll
ll
(Makoto) Thanks for coming guys...
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yeah... we really appreciate this... You guys still came, even after hearing about what had happened to me in the simulation.
ll
ll
ll
Usagi turned to everyone, with quiet tears in her eyes.
ll
ll
(Usagi) What Mako said is true... the sentients... they became clones of your Sailor Forms... and I was in there... slaughtering those clones without a second thought.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I was so scared... terrified of how real it all felt... and even when I came back, I was terrified that you would all leave again, frightened by me...
ll
ll
Usagi started crying, her following sentences incoherent as they came out as sobs.
ll
ll
The others surrounded her.
ll
ll
(Rei) Don't worry Usagi... we'll never leave your side.
ll
ll
(Ami) There is still an enemy to fight.
ll
ll
(Minako) And we're still friends after all.
ll
ll
(Makoto) No matter what happens. We got your back.
ll
ll
ll
Usagi remembered what Garuda had shown her, the life she had lived. It was proof that she had faced this entity once before.
ll
ll
(Ami) So... since you two have actually seen this... "Being". What IS it, exactly? Is it a ghost? A spirit? Some kind of otherworldly manifestation of your fears?
ll
ll
(Makoto) Um... great question, but I feel like I could say yes to all of those.
ll
ll
(Rei) And what does it look like?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well... it's kinda hard to say. When I saw it, it looked like me from when I was in middle school.
ll
ll
(Makoto) And for me, it looked like me when I was in High School.
ll
ll
(Usagi) But... we did notice that there was one thing that made it stand out.
ll
ll
(Makoto) Yeah, made us look fuckin creepy.
ll
ll
(Usagi) It's eyes... they weren't normal. They were like a pair of black pearls that had a crack of light showing through.
ll
ll
(Minako) And... how did you guys encounter them...? If you don't mind telling us.
ll
ll
(Makoto) Well. The little bastard showed up in a vision when I first transferred into Valkyr. It was in a vision.
ll
ll
(Rei) Wait! Back up, you have visions of your past life?!
ll
ll
(Ami) Did we appear in your visions as well?
ll
ll
(Minako) Wow...! You knew what we were like in our past lives, incredible...
ll
ll
(Rei) How come you never shared this with is in the first place?
ll
ll
Before Makoto could sheepishly give a look to Usagi, she stated herself.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I'm sorry. I just... I wasn't sure how bad these visions could be, and the fact that you all haven't had them, gives me reason to believe that there is a reason for that. I swore Mako and the Lotus to secrecy, so that you guys wouldn't have a domino effect, triggering one person's visions before they are ready to see them.
ll
ll
(Rei) I-...
ll
ll
It looked like Rei was trying to find a fault in Usagi for hiding such valuable information from them, but she stopped, knowing she herself would've done the same, had she been the first.
ll
ll
(Rei) Never mind.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) My Warframe, Garuda... she came to me in a dream, and showed me some of my memories from my past life. Crucial moments. Seeing the Queen for who she really was... I'll save that for another time. Leaving the Silver Millenium, meeting Prince Endymion, and well... a few... other things.
ll
ll
ll
(Makoto) Wait, you got entire parts of your life?
ll
ll
(Usagi) No, just a few glimpses. Nothing more than say... a few hours?
ll
ll
(Makoto) I got one vision, of when we left the Silver Millenium, and that's it. (They don't really need to know about all of that other... stuff.)
ll
ll
(Minako) Um, can we ask questions?
ll
ll
(Usagi and Minako In Unison) Hm?
ll
ll
(Ami) She's right. I admit, I do have some questions I hope you can answer for me.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I mean, we'll do our best, but there isn't a lot to tell from.
ll
ll
(Minako) Okay, so first... You didn't DIE in the Silver Millenium!?
ll
ll
(Usagi) No, I did not. I was actually supposed to die on Earth, because the Queen wanted US all to go on a Suicide mission there, because Tenno rebelling against the Orokin Empire, had taken control of it and made it their own, and eventually launched an attack on the Moon, the Silver Millenium, to free us.
ll
ll
ll
(Ami) Whats the Orokin Empire?
ll
ll
(Usagi) The Orokin Empire was a vast empire that spread from Earth, all the way out towards Pluto. They were the ultimate authority of the Solar System, creating two subspecies of human to serve them. They had discovered, researched and published flawless documentations of everything in the Solar System.
ll
ll
(Rei) If they were so powerful, then... what happened to them?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well, our current enemy, a living plague and ourselves all contributed to their downfall, or their extinction.
ll
ll
Makoto, along with everyone else just stopped, and blinked as they gave Usagi nervous looks.
ll
ll
(Rei) Um... Usagi? Did you just say that, in our past lives... WE CAUSED AN EXTINCTION EVENT!?
ll
ll
(Ami) I was gonna say mass genocide, but an extinction event is better... HOW DID WE DO THAT!?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well, it wasn't us five alone. There was the Tenno Rebellion, so that was us. There was a zombie-like hivemind infestation that did them in pretty good... and the Sentients, one of the main reasons we weren't killed by the Orokin, also got them pretty good since only our "archaic" weapons worked on them.
ll
ll
There was a collective sigh among the girls.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Oh, don't feel too bad about their extinction. They totally deserved it, right Mako?
ll
ll
Makoto was about to refute Usagi's claim, but quickly remembered the glimmer of torture she endured, and how Queen Serenity made the girls feel guilty for it.
ll
ll
ll
(Makoto) Oh, yeah, fuck those guys.
ll
ll
Usagi then began telling everyone about the Orokin Empire, or at least what she remembered seeing.
ll
ll
As Usagi told everyone about how the Orokin knew about everything, past and present about the nature of everything in the Solar System, it sparked Makoto's memory of the good memory of the past life.
ll
ll
(Makoto) Oh! Usagi, thanks for mentioning that, almost forgot to tell you all about a vision I saw the other night.
ll
ll
Makoto began excitedly telling the girls about how they had suffered and endured much in their past lives, there were moments where they were able to be simple people, or rather, the children they were supposed to be before their childhoods were stripped from them by the Orokin, as they were taught to be knowledgeable in subjects usually reserved for the smartest of individuals, and some things that were considered theories by modern humans.
ll
ll
The way Makoto talked about the memory, it sounded like a childhood memory from a group of children with a rebellious side, rather than children forced to pilot the carcasses of adults to fight the enemies of the Orokin, one of their own making.
ll
ll
ll
After some more conversation, the girls began growing tired and one by one, slowly drifted to sleep, unaware of what was to come in their dreams.
ll
ll
|Usagi| |Nightmare|
ll
ll
Usagi awoke in a classroom. But it was unlike anything she had ever seen. There were student's milling about in the class, all wearing the same black body suit.
ll
ll
Usagi looked down and saw that she was wearing the same thing.
ll
ll
The classroom, was a tall, rectangular room, with strange futuristic looking desks, each one having a small holographic tablet, the size of a smartphone.
ll
ll
At the front of the classroom was a screen, a screen big enough to fit the entire length and width of the wall in her room. It had a holographic circle in the middle. She remembered that that circle, a Cephalon of the ship, was her teacher.
ll
ll
Usagi got up and saw that there was a window to her left, and as she went to look at it and saw something beautiful.
ll
ll
Outside of the vast window, she could see a sea of stars and the planet Saturn, drifting outside of the window.
ll
ll
As Usagi stared out of the window, she was tapped on the shoulder by a girl, slightly shorter than her with platinum blonde hair.
ll
ll
(Girl) Hey, we gotta take our seats' we're about to make the Void Jump!
ll
ll
Usagi quickly took her seat, giddy with excitement, even though she had no idea what the "Void Jump" was or what was going to happen. Then, the Cephalon began to speak, her voice female and with a slightly deeper pitch as she spoke.
ll
ll
(Cephalon Teacher) Alright class. Prepare, for we are about to jump through the Void and into uncharted territory! How exciting!
ll
ll
As the Cephalon spoke, Usagi could still see outside of the window, as a large, dark portal, crackling with a white energy as it arced around the Zarimen Ten-Zero.
ll
ll
Usagi could hear the sounds of engines whirring as the ship prepared to jump.
ll
ll
After a few seconds, there was shaking all around, and all of the electronics, including the screen presenting the Cephalon Teacher, shut off, leaving the students in darkness.
ll
ll
A couple student's giggled, finding the absence of light entertaining. Some worried, wondering if the jump was successful. A few students went to go towards the door, to which they heard banging and pleading from what sounded like other children.
ll
ll
Usagi opened the door, letting six children inside of the classroom, to which, as the door was closed and locked, the new students began barricading the door without saying anything, only murmuring to themselves.
ll
ll
As students grew anxious, Usagi took it upon herself to spin around one of the students barricading the door, a boy, seemingly the same age as her, his long, black hair, whipping around as Usagi forced him to face her.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Hey! What the heck is going on!? You guys come in here, terrified, and start boarding up the door without saying anything, what gives?
ll
ll
A few students spoke in agreement, but something made the other five stop as well, putting a finger over their lips, telling everyone to be silent.
ll
ll
ll
After a few moments, the students heard a group of footsteps, all running.
ll
ll
Some of the students seemed to want to shout out their presence, but seeing the six students shake their heads violently, the students held their breath.
ll
ll
The group of footsteps walked away, their voices barely audible through the walls.
ll
ll
But even as a child, Usagi could hear the frustration in the muffled voices.
ll
ll
As the footsteps slowly faded into the distance, the boy seemed to let out a deep breath.
ll
ll
(?) Sorry, I just couldn't let those adults know we were in here.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Who are you, and why are we hiding from the adults?
ll
ll
(?) I'm Kenda. I'm a few classes away from here. I and six others went out to get some help. Our teacher and all of the lights went offline, so we went out to get help. But something was wrong with the adults. They seemed... unwell.
ll
ll
(Kenta) They saw us, and started running, talking about how they'd kill us. Some of them were school staff, others were facility members, and a few were even parents.
ll
ll
Usagi looked behind Kenta, at the other children, only counting six overall.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Um... Kenta, was it?
ll
ll
(Kenta) Yeah, what is it?
ll
ll
(Usagi) You said you came here with six others? One of you is missing.
ll
ll
Usagi could see the color drain from the boy's face as he quickly turned around, counting his own classmates, and then quickly looking over the rest of the classroom in search of the missing member.
ll
ll
(Kenta) Where is she...? Reina! Where's Riko!?
ll
ll
Kenta ran up to his female classmate, a girl with short purple hair, who seemed to have the same reaction to the news.
ll
ll
(Reina) Last I saw her, she was right behind you.
ll
ll
(Kenta) I know, I heard her crying right behind me.
ll
ll
Kenta stepped back and looked at the door, trying to steel himself.
ll
ll
(Kenta) I gotta go back. She's in danger out there. They'll kill her!
ll
ll
(Reina) NO! We can't. Sending anyone out there is a suicide mission.
ll
ll
Usagi went beside the two.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I'll go. I've gotten used to skipping class, so I got a few hiding places around here.
ll
ll
(Reina) Didn't you hear what I just said? Going out there would be suicide!
ll
ll
(Kenta) And besides, we came into your classroom, we should take responsibility of our classmate's safety.
ll
ll
Usagi walked past the two and started inching the barricade and heading through the door.
ll
ll
(Usagi) No. The more of us there are out there, the easier it'll be for the adults to hear us.
ll
ll
Usagi saw the guilt and fear in the pairs eyes.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I'll be fine. Don't worry. I'll find Riko, and bring him back here.
ll
ll
The reassurance seemed to do little, but Usagi crawled through the door and into the large corridor.
ll
ll
In the corridor, Usagi felt the unease settle in as she began walking through the corridor, flinching at even the slightest sound.
ll
ll
She walked towards the direction of the other class that the five had come from.
ll
ll
As she walked, she made it half way, when she began hearing voices, adults.
ll
ll
Quickly, Usagi hid herself under a bench, crouching down and waiting for the adults to pass.
ll
ll
As the footsteps came closer, she could hear the adults, their voices spoken in quiet, incoherent murmurs.
ll
ll
What terrified Usagi, was that there were so many adults passing by her, all of different classes, from low ranking peasants, to the highest ranking Nobles.
ll
ll
As they passed Usagi, she could smell a faint hint of blood.
ll
ll
Usagi was shaken. She waited for many minutes after the group had left to resume her journey.
ll
ll
As she walked, she got closer and closer to the class.
ll
ll
She was directly across the corridor of the class when she heard another group of adults approaching.
ll
ll
Seeing little hiding places, Usagi took the chance and went towards the door, opening it with surprising ease as she went inside and closed the door behind her.
ll
ll
Inside of the class was chaos. Desks were thrown about, the main screen had been cracked, by some unknown means. But there were no children in the dark classroom.
ll
ll
Usagi walked around and heard a faint crying of a child.
ll
ll
She hesitantly walked around a few desks, until she found another child. A little girl with hazel eyes and brown, straight hair.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Riko? Is that you?
ll
ll
The little girl looked up to see Usagi, immediately running up to hug her.
ll
ll
(Riko) Oh thank goodness! I thought I was gonna stay here forever.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I know your friends are waiting for you. Come on, let's go.
ll
ll
Usagi held Riko's hand as they headed towards the door.
ll
ll
(Riko) Wait, but what about my parents? Those people... they've gone mad, I have to make sure my parents are okay!
ll
ll
(Usagi) We'll search for them in due time. For now, let's get you reunited with the others, okay?
ll
ll
(Riko) O-Okay...
ll
ll
Usagi opened the door slightly ajar, looking for anything passing by.
ll
ll
ll
Seeing the coast was clear, Usagi guided them out, holding onto Riko's hand as she walked slowly.
ll
ll
As the two walked, they had to find a different route, as it seems when Kenta and the others first went, a small group of adults stayed behind, patrolling the corridors like an angry mob.
ll
ll
ll
Taking a different route, Usagi led Riko by her hand, hiding with her from different passing groups of adults. But as they walked, Usagi comforted Riko by talking to her.
ll
ll
(Usagi) So, Riko, tell me about yourself. We are in different classes after all, so this is kinda the first time we're meeting.
ll
(Riko) OH! That's true. I'm Riko, our classes resident shut in.
ll
(Usagi) Oh, I'm Serenity, nice to meet you.
ll
(Riko) WAIT! As in Princess Serenity!?
ll
(Usagi) Yeah, but, she sees me as nothing more than a nuisance, so she sent me here hoping she'll never have to see me again.
ll
(Riko) Oh... that sounds rough...
ll
(Usagi) Yeah, but the feeling's mutual. Anyway, tell me a bit about yourself. Why are you the resident shut in?
ll
(Riko) Well, all I do on my free time is study. I study for school, but since our teacher was so generous, she gave me access to more materials to study about the Origin System, like ancient history, research documents and articles.
ll
(Usagi) Really? You never did things like go out and watch Lunaro games? {Lunaro, in Warframe, is like a space version of Lacrosse, only you are allowed to get physical with other players.}
ll
(Riko) Nope. Never found any interest in it.
ll
ll
ll
As the two traversed the eerily quiet halls, corridors and plazas, they began seeing silver linings in the halls, as well as humanoid shaped beings. Some were fully formed, and looked like thin, humanoids with bodies made of what looked like warped metal, some even sporting a pair of sharp and twisted wings.
ll
(Riko) I wonder what this stuff is? It looks similar to Damascus steel...
ll
(Usagi) Yeah it does, but don't even think about touching it.
ll
Usagi and Riko were passing by one of the more formed ones, when Riko seemed to flinch behind Usagi.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Riko!? What is it? What's wrong?
ll
ll
Riko tightened her grip on Usagi's arm, pointing at the humanoid shape.
ll
ll
(Riko) I-It... moved... I swear...
ll
ll
(Usagi) That's impossible. But we gotta move, our friends are waiting for us.
ll
ll
ll
Usagi began walking again, with Riko facing forward.
ll
ll
As the two exited the Plaza, Usagi heard what sounded like a whisper from behind them.
ll
ll
Usagi swung her head around to see that... the humanoid shape was no longer in it's original position.
ll
ll
(Usagi) What the hell...
ll
(Riko) I told you it moved. Now what?
ll
(Usagi) Don't worry, we'll just hide for a bit.
ll
Usagi took Riko around a corner and Usagi heard another, quiet, whisper.
ll
ll
Usagi began walking faster, ignoring the sound of something scraping against the metal floor and telling Riko to keep moving.
ll
ll
As Usagi and Riko left the Plaza, Usagi hid herself and Riko.
ll
ll
Usagi covered Riko's mouth as they sat hidden in an empty room.
ll
ll
Usagi watched from the crack of the door, as the humanoid object lumbered through the hall, it's tall, but thin frame towering over Usagi as it passed, trying desperately to look for her.
ll
ll
It only let out quiet whispers as it lumbered, it's thin, long, sharp metallic arms scraping against the floor.
ll
ll
When Usagi tried to look at the face of the humanoid, she almost gasped as she saw that the creature had no face, only an empty space, filled with light from within the creatures body, an empty space that stretched down to it's upper chest.
ll
ll
After the creature had seemed to return to the plaza, Usagi began running with Riko's hand in hers as they ran to the classroom.
ll
ll
ll
Usagi's confidence grew as they got closer, as hallways and corridors looked more and more familiar.
ll
ll
The two were still running when Usagi saw her classroom door, beginning feel hope.
ll
ll
But as they Ran, suddenly Riko stopped.
ll
ll
Usagi looked back at Riko, worried.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Riko? C'mon, we have to go. the classroom is right there!
ll
ll
Riko seemed to be staring down the hall, at a group of adults staring at them.
ll
ll
(Riko) Momma...
ll
ll
(Usagi) Huh?
ll
ll
(Riko) My Momma... she's over there.
ll
ll
Riko pointed at the group, which seemed to be walking towards them, all having strange looks on their faces, as if they were stalking prey...
ll
ll
Usagi pulled on Riko's arm.
ll
ll
(Usagi) No, Riko, that isn't your Momma anymore, she's been taken by the void.
ll
ll
(Riko) B-But she looks fine. MOMMA!
ll
ll
(Usagi) NO! Her mind has been infected with the void, she'll KILL you.
ll
ll
Riko looked at Usagi.
ll
ll
(Riko) No, she'd never, that's my-
ll
ll
The crowd began to scream and yell, as they started to run towards Usagi and Riko.
ll
ll
(Usagi) RUN!
ll
ll
Usagi began running, dragging Riko behind her.
ll
ll
But the adults were growing closer with every second. As the two neared the door, some of the adults had grown too close.
ll
ll
The door opened and Usagi was about to step through, when an adult slammed into her, and Riko let go.
ll
ll
As Riko let go, she was taken by the adults as Kenda and Reina pulled Usagi inside and closed the door.
ll
ll
Before the door closed completely, Usagi held out her hand.
ll
ll
(Usagi) RIKO! RIKO GRAB MY HAND!
ll
ll
As the two pulled her inside, she protested.
ll
ll
(Usagi) NO! NO, SHE'S STILL OUT THERE! WAIT!
ll
ll
ll
(Reina) Forget about her!
ll
ll
(Kenta) Quick, close the door!
ll
ll
As the adults began trying to get in, Usagi heard the harrowing scream of the creature she had heard before.
ll
ll
The door had closed completely, and the sounds of shuffling feet turned into wild sprints as something dragged a pair of heavy claws on the ground giving chase to the adults...
ll
ll
(Usagi) She's gone... ... W-we were so close...
ll
ll
(Kenta) But you failed, and now she's dead.
ll
ll
(Reina) We put our trust into you Serenity... Guess you really can see why she was sent with us, because not even Queen Serenity wanted her.
ll
ll
(?) HEY! Assholes!
ll
ll
A Black haired girl stood up from a desk, and walked over to the three, her eyes full of anger as she approached them.
ll
ll
(?) I don't know exactly how close Serenity was to saving that girl, but I bet she was closer than you two would've been.
ll
ll
(Reina) What the hell gives you the right to say that!?
ll
ll
(?) Oh don't pin all of the blame on her. The only reason she was even out there is because you two lost sight of your classmates and left her behind.
ll
ll
Kenta and Reina reeled back, unable to think of a defense for the girl's accusation.
ll
ll
(?) And another thing! It's true, the common belief among us is that, some of the Orokin Royal families did abandon their children. But that doesn't mean we should put them on a pedestal, because in reality, that makes them one of us. Another subject that was thrown away by the Orokin.
ll
ll
(Kenta) Bullshit, she was born to Orokin Royalty. They're treated like Gods, drinking the immortal Red Kuva to keep themselves alive for ALL OF TIME. What's your name anyway girl!?
ll
ll
(?) Me? I'm Deimos. I'm here with my sibling, Phobos.
ll
ll
(Reina) Deimos and Phobos...? ... WAIT! As in the Protectors of the Princess of the Iron Kingdom of the Orokin Empire!?
ll
ll
Phobos walked and stood next to Deimos, showing that the two of them were twins.
ll
(Phobos) Hello. I heard my name called.
ll
ll
(Kenta) So... you two were also from high ranks within the Orokin. JUST! LIKE! HER!
ll
ll
ll
Phobos looked confusingly at Deimos.
ll
ll
(Phobos) I'm sorry... what's going on?
ll
ll
(Deimos) These two are berating Serenity of the Silver Millenium, trying to blame her for that girl's death.
ll
ll
Phobo's look went from confused, the frustrated.
ll
(Phobos) What!? But we all saw what happened. Serenity tried to get the girl inside, but the adults, who've seemed to have gone crazy, got between them, separated them and Serenity was dragged into the classroom. How was that HER fault?
ll
ll
(Reina) She should've had a better tactical approach, wait for the adults to disperse before trying to get inside, not risking all of our lives in order to help Riko get inside.
ll
ll
(Deimos) But something happened out there. We both heard the two outside, since everyone has been pretty quiet so far. Right Phobos?
ll
ll
(Phobos) Yeah, I heard Riko saying something, and then Serenity responded, but it was too quiet to make out, then I heard the adults coming and those two opened the door.
ll
ll
(Deimos) So now begs the question. Serenity, what happened out there?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well, when we got to this corridor, we saw the adults at the far end, so I thought the two of us could easily get inside, but Riko... she... she saw her mother, among the adults...
ll
ll
(Kenta) What? That's impossible. The adults are scattered everywhere, what are the chances that Riko finds her own mother among hundreds of thousands of adults!?
ll
ll
(Usagi) I don't know, but she saw her mother and stopped. I tried dragging her, but Riko was insistent that her Mother was fine, so she called out to her, gaining the attention of the adults.
ll
ll
(Deimos) See? It appears that Riko, although it does sound brutal, that she caused her own death, and almost took Serenity down with her. Satisfied Kenta? Reina?
ll
ll
Kenta and Reina gave Deimos uncomfortable looks.
ll
ll
(Reina) How'd you know who we were? We never told you our names.
ll
ll
(Phobos) Huh, you know, on Mars, we were called Princess Rei's crows. Since we both have black hair and followed her around, watching her. We just applied that ever since we boarded.
ll
ll
(Kenta) Whatever, it doesn't change the fact that Serenity could've saved Riko.
ll
ll
(Deimos) And it also doesn't change the fact that Riko would still be alive if it weren't for your own mistakes.
ll
ll
Kenta and Reina walked away, and Deimos faced Usagi.
ll
ll
(Deimos) You okay Serenity?
ll
(Phobos) Don't worry about those guys. They think that the higher class you are, the more you like the Orokin. And they're usually assholes which checks out...
|Usagi| |Morning|
ll
ll
Usagi woke up in the morning in Makoto's apartment.
ll
ll
(Usagi) What the hell... was that real...? Memories from the Zarimen Ten-Zero...?
ll
ll
Usagi stretched as she bathed in the morning dew, as the Sun shined brightly through Makoto's window panes.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Maybe I'll ask the Lotus... and maybe Rei about Phobos and Deimos...
