Chapter 1: An offer from the Science Academy.

Could you imagine? A place where kids could openly carry every type of firearm imaginable as if it were natural. A place where kids can take almost every modern war engine to the street, like riding a bike through the park. A place filled entirely with female students with haloes on their heads, Artificial intelligence, and talking animals. No matter how you think, such a place could not exist, but the truth is further than you may think.

That place is called Kivotos, a city that is the same size as a continent, ruled by hundreds of Academies, and administered by a General Student Council with the help of a teacher. How can such a place come into being? Many theories have been crafted, and much research has been conducted, but to this day, no one can attain the complete truth behind such a place, for the truth is carefully redacted, burned, and buried by the people who once built it. However, as many people are determined to find the truth, many also want to be remembered by the future generation.

This story begins at Abydos High School as the Foreclosure Task Force begins their daily club meeting.

"We have received a letter from the Millennium Science School every one, sent by the Student Council, Seminar itself." Okusura Ayane said as she presented a letter to everyone in the club.

"What could that Science School filled with geniuses want with our school?" Kuromi Serika asked as her cat ears twitched from side to side.

"According to the writer, Ushio Noa, during the invasion of the Chroma, the Engineering Club of Millennium has also discovered a secret lab beside the ship of Utnapishtim. However, due to the recent events and how busy everyone is, including Sensei, Millennium hasn't had the chance to examine the lab," Ayane answered.

"So, what will we get from this proposal? Isn't most of our land belong to Kaiser now?" Serika asked.

"Following the appearance of Binah and the incident where Kaiser tried to take over Kivotos, the General Student Council has relinquished Kaiser's rights in the desert and handed them back to us now. Millennium Science School will pay us a large sum of money in exchange for the right to examine and excavate the site where the Utnapishtim ship is found," replied Ayane.

"Uhee, I wish the GSC would use this chance to erase our debt instead," yawned Takanashi Hoshino as she dosed off lazily on the meeting table.

"The debt was left behind by the previous Student Council, so the GSC cannot do anything about it," Ayane sighed as a vein began to pop on her face, "and Hoshino-senpai, please refrain from sleeping in our meeting again!"

"Uhe, but this Oji-san is so tired, you know? And my back even hurts a lot, too!" excused Hoshino as she yawned again.

"There's no need to get that angry Ayane-chan and Hoshino-senpai; this is an important event, so please focus on the meeting," Izayoi Nonomi calmed Ayane while scolding Hoshino.

"If there is a lab so important that it draws the attention of other schools, then I think we should ask Sensei's opinion on this," Sunaookami Shiroko offered a solution.

"I concur with Shiroko-senpai; this is an important decision that we cannot just make on our own, and Sensei is our best bet for this," Ayane agreed.

"Uhe, look how our Shiroko has grown; oji-san is so proud of you!" exclaimed Hoshino as she tried to pat the head of Shiroko.

"I think it is a great idea," Nonomi cheered, "I also think Sensei's wisdom is needed on this problem," Serika added, "If you guys all want to consult with Sensei, then this Oji-san doesn't have any objection," Hoshino agreed.

"When will all of this work end!" as Takashi is slaving on his desk, trying to finish the work that has been piling up every day, he receives a message from Ayane: "Sensei, we are currently facing an urgent problem that needs your expertise. Can you come to Abydos after finishing your work at SCHALE?"

"Who are you talking to, Sensei?" asked Hayase Yuuka as she was trying to rescue her Sensei from pulling another all-nighter.

"Ayane texted me, saying that she needs my expertise for an emergency back in Abydos," Takashi replied, "I'm sorry for this, but..."

"I understand, Sensei, I'll help you with the work until you are finished. If Abydos is having an emergency, then you can go there, but you have to promise me to finish all of your work after getting back." Yuuka replied with an empathetic tone.

"Thank you, I'll treat you to lunch after this," Takashi said as he left his desk, put on his coat, and left the SCHALE office.

"Really, you're always so kind to us, Sensei," Yuuka said with a small smile and a blush.

After a while, the door to the Foreclosure Task Force clubroom opens as Takashi steps through and greets his students: "Hello, everyone, it's nice to see you all. Can you please tell me what this emergency is, Ayane?"

"Hello Sensei, I want to call you here because of the letter we received this morning," Ayane greeted back, "Millennium is offering us a large sum of money in order to be able to examine a secret lab they found at the Abydos desert."

"A secret lab, you say? Yuuka didn't tell me anything about it; let me ask her first," replied Takashi as he pulled out his smartphone.

"Hello, Sensei, what do you need of me?" asked Yuuka on the other side of the line.

"I'm sorry for bothering you since you are helping me with the paper, Yuuka, but do you know about any secret lab found in the desert of Abydos?" questioned Takashi.

"It's no big deal Sensei, I'm happy that I can be of help to you," Yuuka replied, "and about the secret lab? Yes, I do have knowledge about it; I guess this emergency you told me about is the letter we sent to Abydos, isn't it?"

"Yes, and thank you, Yuuka, but why didn't anybody inform me about this major discovery?" Takashi asked again.

"You were so busy that I, and Noa decided not to burden you with any more work, Sensei, especially after we heard about your return from a major event at Hyakkiyako Alliance Academy," Yuuka explained softly.

"You and Noa are so caring. Thank you, Yuuka, and send my appreciation to Noa, too," Takashi says goodbye to Yuuka before ending the call.

"Any time, Sensei," said Yuuka in a soft voice with a hint of bashfulness.

"Can you guys let me read the letter please?" Takashi then turns his attention towards the members of the FTF.

"Ah, here you go, Sensei!" Ayane picks up the letter from the table and hands it to Takashi with 2 hands.

"Thank you, Ayane," replied Takashi as he held the letter in his hand.

As Takashi finishes reading the letter, he hands it back to Ayane with a serious look, "If I have to give you my honest opinion, I think it is a good idea to let Millennium conduct their research. Suppose this lab is hidden alongside an ancient technology like the Utnapishtim Ship. In that case, it may be able to shed some light on other major enemies we are fighting right now and the means to defeat them permanently. Besides, you guys will also get 100 million yen, which can help you lessen your debt. However, I will not force you to follow me, the final decision is yours to make."

"Do you truly believe that this lab may hold the answer to the revival of our District?" Ayane sheepishly asked.

"I don't know, Ayane, and I don't mean to crush your hope, but if it is possible, then we should at least keep this in mind," Takashi replied with a resolute expression.

"Sensei is right, Ayane-chan; we don't usually get this many opportunities in our life," Hoshino added as she sat straight up without any hint of tiredness, "If this lab truly holds the key to our future, then fate has really favored us. If not, then we still have 100 million yens."

"If both Sensei and Hoshino-senpai agree with this proposal, I guess I'll have to trust them," Serika smiled.

"If what Sensei said is true, I won't have any reasons to rob banks anymore," Shiroko said with a sad face, "but I will endure it for the sake of our school."

"Shiroko-senpai, even if we don't find anything, performing heists on banks is still not an option," said Ayane as she scolded Shiroko, "then if everyone agrees, I hereby declare the end of this meeting with our total agreement on working with Millennium Science School."

"Then I will call Yuuka to inform her of your decision," Takashi said as he pulled out his phone again, "Hello, Yuuka, are you free right now?"

"I'm on my way back to Millennium. What is it, Sensei?" asked Yuuka.

"I'm calling to inform you that the Abydos Student Council has agreed with your request to research the secret lab found in the Abydos Desert," replied Takashi.

"Thank you for telling me this, Sensei. I will report this back to Seminar after arriving at Millennium. I would also require a response letter written by the Abydos Student Council with the signature of their current president, too, if you don't mind?" responded Yuuka.

"Okay, I will tell them, and thank you again, Yuuka, I don't know what I would do without you anymore!" sighed Takashi.

"It's my pleasure, Sensei; after all, you have helped us so much in the past," Yuuka chuckled on the other side, "Have a great day, Sensei, and please finish all of your work after returning to SCHALE."

"Hai, Hai, Miss Hayase," smiled Takashi as he ended the call, "Alright, Foreclosure Task Force, let's begin our first step in uncovering this mysterious lab."
