Chapter 2
After Albus' announcement he led Will and I toward the counter. This place seemed to be a pub, or maybe a bar of some sort.
"Hello, Tom," Albus started talking to the man behind the bar.
"Albus!" Tom the Barman said. "What are you doing here?"
"Well, Tom, these boys are American exchange students for Hogwarts this year," Albus gestures to us with one hand. "They need a room to stay in. I'll pay for them, of course."
Tom nods, "Of course. Here's a room key. Room number 9." Will takes the key and walks up the stairs, but I stay to eavesdrop after Tom calls Albus.
"Albus, Harry has been staying here. Apparently, something happened at the Dursley's and he's been here since August seventh. Maybe you can check on him?"
"Hmm," Albus hums. "I will. I can also introduce him to the exchange students. That way they can know someone when Hogwarts starts."
I hurry up the stairs. Once I get to the room I look around. There are two beds, a closet, and a bathroom. All in all, it's not bad.
Will and I start to discuss what our cover story might
Once we finish putting our things away, Albus comes upstairs. There was a boy with him.
The boy reminds me of Percy, black hair and green eyes, but the boy seems my age. He must be Harry Potter.
"Harry Potter, meet Nico di Angelo and Will Solace," Albus says to the boy. "Nico, Will, meet Harry Potter."
"Hi, Harry," Will says. "We're exchange students from America. Manhattan, New York, to be exact."
"Oh," Harry blinked. "That explains your accent. I've never met someone from America before."
"They'll be in your year, Harry." Albus interjected into the conversation. "I thought it would be good for them to meet someone they would be schooling with, even though they may not be in Gryffindor."
Harry nodded, "Okay."
"Alright, I need to get back to the school, but you should get to know each other. It would benefit you." Albus apparates away.
I turn to my bed and grab the letter. It had the whole explanation of our cover story, and other details from Hecate.
"So," Harry starts after a couple minutes of silence, "I didn't know there were magic schools in America. What's the name of your magic school?"
Will was putting his thing away because he packed way more than I did. So, I decided to answer. I know, a shocker. "We go to 'Hecate's School of the Magically Inclined' you won't have heard of us because our information is only given to a select few individuals."
Harry looks shocked. I suddenly realize I haven't talked since he came into the room. And, I think to myself, I have a slight Italian accent.
"Sorry," Harry rubs the back of his neck, seeming embarrassed at his lack of decorum. "It's just, you don't sound American."
"Don't worry." I waved him off. "I grew up in Italy, so I have an accent."
He nods. "Alright. What was school like in America?"
Will chooses to speak. Good, I wasn't gonna talk anyway. I'm not a people person, so I'm glad that Will was.
"Well," Will started, "we don't use wands at our school. We instead focus on specific areas of magic. These areas are usually related to certain family things. It's really complicated."
I don't know if that's believable, but it seems that Harry takes it at face value. So, thank the gods.
"Are you purebloods, half bloods, or muggle-borns?" I hesitate, I don't know what any of those mean, but why not go with the truth.
"We're half bloods," I say, hoping that wasn't the wrong thing to say.
Harry nodded again. He continued to ask us questions. I let Will answer most of them, but every once in a while I had to answer a question.
"You said you worked in specific areas of magic, right?" Harry inquired.
"Yeah, everyone where we come from does." Will smiled, and it was so bright and pretty… Wait. What am I saying?
Harry looked around nervously, "If it isn't too much to ask, what areas were you guys in?"
Will smiled that pretty smile again. Since when did I find Will pretty?
"I focus on healing magic. I'm the head healer back home," Will informed Harry.
"As for me, it's easier to show you." I shrug and stand up. Walking to a corner I step back into the shadows. I appear behind Harry.
"Where did he go?" Harry sounded genuinely curious. So I answered him in the most dramatic way I could.
My hand silently swished through the air. Harry's shadow started to become a solid figure, only the arm though. The shadow's arm slowly began to creep forward. All the sudden it taps him on the shoulder.
Harry turns around to see a shadowy arm behind him, "ACK!"
I chuckled and he finally noticed me standing behind the shadow. "Did you like the show? Was I not flashy enough?" I put emphasis on flashy, a joke toward Will.
"Y'know," Will spoke up, "I never knew you were so dramatic."
"Well, my father has always been a drama queen. I just inherited it from him." I waved it off as if it were obvious, and to me it was.
"Basically, I can control shadows, travel through shadows, transport people and objects through shadows, etc." I explained to Harry, who looked dumbfounded.
He nods slowly, not quite understanding, but accepting my explanation.
After the war a few of our parents gifted us with new powers, or just made what we had stronger. I got a bit of both. Nowadays, I have much more stamina than I used to, which means I can use more "Underworld Magic" as Will had dubbed it.
"I'll leave you two to unpack," Harry left the room, closing the door behind him.
"Thank the gods, he's finally gone." I lay down on my bed. "Human interaction exhausts me."
Will laughs, "You're just upset you can't sulk in a room by yourself all day."
I pout and turn away, hiding my blush. I can't help but find Will attractive. I don't know when I started to feel this way about the son of Apollo, but it'll go away soon.
It didn't.
