Things were going too well, there hadn't been any large scale siren raids for ages, no major cases to solve, and the Azur Lane Intelligence Bureau of Investigation had just accepted their new officer, my new partner, Myoukou, barely a couple of minutes had passed since the swearing in ceremony, (why we had one I don't know, there was only the three of us), I was showing Myoukou how to do the not so large amounts of paperwork that were lining the desk, mostly for mundane case like missing plushies and the such like when Enterprise slammed the door open.

"SIS WE'VE GOT A PROBLEM!" her sis, my boss, slowly looked up from the stack of papers, lifted her hat over her eyes and sighed.

"Enterprise, there isn't a case to answer here, if you can't find your MRE's then Vestal or Belfast have probably hidden them." However there seemed to be something else on Enterprise's mind, she rushed towards Hornet's desk and slammed down on it hard.

"THE COMMANDER HAS DISSAPEARED!" Well, that killed the mood very quickly, see things were going too well.

"Shit, really?" Enterprise nodded solemnly "When did this happen?"

"About 10:00, so 2 hours ago, it was Z23 who raised the alarm, she realised that the commander had spent too long going over the maintenance checks at the Sakura Empire dorms."

"Ah Shit! Come on you two!"

"Yes Chief"

"Hai"

I wasn't to pleased about having to search the Sakura Empire dorms, there were some girls that had a 'reputation' for no talk, all claws, when we arrived things were not any better, ahead of us was a group of girls in red uniforms and at the centre a small girl in a blue dress and next to her an equally small girl with a large broadsword, me and Hornet both groaned. "Is something the matter Indianapolis?" Myoukou asked.

"Yeah, unfortunately." Hornet replied for me. We had crossed swords a few times already, the said midget already sending her Royal Knights into the dorms before turning around and spotting us, before giving a smug laugh.

"Your Majesty" Hornet greeted, no doubt forcing herself to be polite.

"Well, well, if it isn't the amateurs. This is far bigger than what you are used to, so there is no point in you being here."

"With all due respect your majesty, this does involve us and everyone else on this base."

"No, it doesn't!" the mini queen gritted.

"Yes, it does!" Enterprise retaliated "You know very well that since the commander has disappeared without trace that Homunculus protocol is in force." Homunculus protocol, something that no ship girl wanted to hear, in essence should the commander disappear without informing anyone on base or higher command, then command would pass to Enterprise as leader of the first fleet, and if the commander did not re-appear within 24 hours Azur Lane would disband and all ship girls would disperse back to their original country and be on the defensive for any upcoming siren attacks. The last time Homunculus protocol was enforced High command had requested the commander to attend a meeting in New York, at the last minute, only for the commander to get hit by a car on his way back to the airport, luckily St Louis and Helena happened to be on leave in New York and managed to track him to the hospital he was staying at. This was of course in case the commander had been kidnapped by the Sirens, and for us not to fall into enemy hands while high command would find another commander to replace him, although the term 'enemy' was a rather loose description, any ship girl with a knowledge of politics knew there was a better chance of Purifier getting drunk at a 4th July party than the individual nations reforming Azur Lane as a way of keeping their ship girls 'Safe'.

"Furthermore" Enterprise continued "As the leader of the Royal Navy, you are required to take part in discussions on the search operations, and, evacuation, should it come to that." The queen looked rather angry and apprehensive, but eventually she realised that there was no choice in the matter.

"Fine, but she is coming with us." She said pointing at Hornet, Hornet thought for a while, before.

"Okay then, but allow my deputies to assist the Royal Knights in searching the dorms." Queen Elizabeth groaned.

"Fine, but if they disturb their investigation, I'll have them arrested for perverting the course of justice!" she yelled waving her sceptre in front of my face "Come Warspite!"

"Yes Your Majesty!" Queen Elizabeth lead the way, Warspite, Enterprise and Hornet walking behind her towards the command building. I gave a sigh and turned to face the Sakura Empire dorms.

"Well then, lead the way then deputy."
