Hello there. First of all, thank you for passing by:)
This is going to be my very first Harry Potter Fanfiction ( And probably the only one ).
I am not an English Native which mean that English is not my native language.
I'm going to write this story because,
1 – I want to so… Here I am
2 – I think this is going to be a great exercise for me
3 – I want to write so badly since probably a year but I never got the courage to do so.
Enough about me. I guess it's time to start the first chapter of
Harry Potter and the Reset Curse.
Harry sat by the fire in the Gryffindor common room, his first day of lessons behind him. His head ached from trying to remember the difference between charms and hexes, but he couldn't stop smiling. He was here—at Hogwarts—and learning magic. Tomorrow would be just as brilliant. He was sure of it.
"Harry!" As he looked up, a boy with red hair was looking at him with a smile. "Want to play chess?"
Harry could feel his own lips forming a smile before nodding. Ron Weasley, or Ronald Bilius Weasley, was the first person of his age that became friends with him. It all started back at the Hogwarts Express. Back then, Harry was afraid that he might not be forming any kind of friendship. 10 years with the Dursleys made him learn that nobody would be his for a very long time; he thought his name was Freak. It wasn't even until his first day of school that he learned what his name was!
Harry Potter. The Boy Who Lived. Since his first days in the wizarding world, he learned what his name truly meant. He was the sole survivor of his family. He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Voldemort. The greatest dark lord of all time (at least of his period) killed his parents, James and Lily Potter. Harry didn't know them; he could barely remember them. Despite that, Harry loves them. Harry could only love the father that tried to protect his family. He could only love the mother that protected him until her last breath.
"-Ry? Harry?" As he was brought back to reality, Harry could only stare at his confused friend. «You alright there, mate?»
"Sorry. Got lost in my thoughts." Harry apologizes. Ron, nonetheless, nodded before starting the game.
'This first day of school was brilliant. I can't wait for tomorrow!' Harry thought with joy.
'I hate him.' That was the thought of our very own Harry Potter as he left the potion class.
Everything started perfectly. At least until Professor Snape came in. From what Harry could gather before his lesson, he was the head of Slytherin. Of course, he heard everyone above his year saying that he was biased. That he favors Slytherin! But Snape was nothing more than a bully in Harry's eye! Call him childish if you want to, but Harry hated that man.
"Ah yes. Harry Potter, our newest celebrity..." Already Harry knew something was going on. None of the previous teachers has said something like that. Not even McGonagall, despite the fact he was late with Ron!
Then Snape continued with three questions.
'Potter! What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?'
'I don't know, sir.'
How could he know what the answer was? Well, apparently, Hermione Granger knew. To be fair, he did start to look at his potion book. However, none of that was in the first chapters! He could remember the look that Snape gave him. As if Christmas came earlier.
'Where would you look if I told you to find me a bezoar?'
'I don't know, sir…'
At the second question, Harry could only look at him with a perplexed expression. He knew something was up, but he didn't know what exactly.
'What is the difference between monkshood and wolfsbane?'
'I don't know, sir…'
Three questions. Three Failures. As if it wasn't enough, Snape took points from him. Then during the entire class, Harry could hear his remarks. It was almost as if he was waiting for him to make a mistake. In less than an hour, Harry lost more points that he earned during the last day. In just one class, Harry learned to hate. He hated Snape. Not because he didn't know the answers to the first questions or his remark. But because he also took pleasure in denigrating every Gryffindor student. He could care less about himself. However, Harry could not forgive him for the way he treated everyone in Gryffindor.
Harry couldn't believe it! He was in the Quidditch Team!
After his first flying lesson—which ended up way too early—Draco Malfoy took Neville Longbottom's remembrall. In all honesty, Harry didn't know what it was. What he knew was that it was a gift from his grandmother, and so Harry took it upon himself to take it back.
To summarize it, Harry got it back… But Professor McGonagall saw everything. She saw how he flew with his broom. When she asked him to go with her, Harry was rightfully frightened.
'Am I going to be expelled?!' He thought while McGonagall took him to… Quirrel's class? She asked him to wait in front of the class. A few minutes later, she came back with an older Gryffindor student.
Less than 30 minutes later, Harry was on the field. Apparently McGonagall thought he should join the Quidditch team! The older Gryffindor student was in fact the team's captain, Olivier Wood. As they were talking, Harry learned all the Quidditch team roles. He, Harry, was going to be the seeker. From what he could gather, Harry was supposed to catch a tiny, flying, golden sphere.
After a few minutes of talking and training at some point, Harry walked back to the Gryffindor Tower.
'Magic is brilliant!'
"Don't forget the swish and flick! You don't want to end like-"
Today was the day. Halloween. The day he lost his parents. In all honesty, Harry wasn't paying that much attention today. Of course he was trying to act as normal as possible.
"Wingardium Leviosa." Harry was brought back as he looked at his best friend.
"Stop, stop." Hermione Granger said as she put a hand on his arm to stop him. «You're going to take someone's eye out.» Harry wouldn't admit it, but he was on her side on that, considering how Ron was 'waving' his wand.
"Besides! You're saying it wrong. It's Win-Gar-Dium Leviosa." She says as Ron looks at her, clearly embarrassed and a little bit angry.
"You do it then if you're so bloody clever! Go on!" Hermione looked conflicted for a brief moment before doing it.
Harry could only look in awe as she did it on her first try.
"Wonderful!" Professor Flitwick's voice came "Everyone, look at Miss Granger's feather! Five points to Gryffindor!"
Suddenly a boom could be heard. Looking on his right, Harry could only laugh a little bit as he looked at his fellow Gryffindor student, Seamus Finnigan.
"I think we're going to need another feather here…" In the end, most of the class learned how to do the spell correctly. As he was walking with his friend, Harry could feel himself starting to feel angry at his friend. Why, you might ask? His very own friend was acting like his own cousin.
"Can you believe that girl?" Ron asked to no one in particular. "It's Win-Gar-Dium Leviosa," he says in a higher voice, making everyone laugh. "It's no wonder that girl has no friends!" As he says that, Hermione—who was behind them—pushed past them, tears in her eyes. Almost everyone stopped laughing as they looked at her. Even Ron was feeling a bit guilty. «I think you might have gone too far, Ron.» Seamus says as he looks at the red hair.
Ron gulped before nodding, "You might be right. I'll apologize next time I see her." Harry wasn't having it.
"Wait if you want to, but I'm not." Harry says before going looking for Hermione. Behind him, Ron was looking at him with a brief, shocking face before shrugging it.
He couldn't believe it. He actually became like his cousin. Harry became a bully. Even if he didn't say it, Harry was still considering himself at fault. He should've done something! Because he said nothing, an innocent girl was now crying, alone. At this point, Harry hated himself.
Harry's first stop was at the Gryffindor Tower. When he got there, he asked about her, but nobody saw her. His second stop was at McGonagall's office, but even there he could not find her.
Eventually Harry spent hours searching for her. Heck, he even skipped the rest of the day searching for her. The only spot left was the girl's bathroom.
Harry could only gulp before slowly opening the door. As he enters the bathroom, he could hear someone crying.
"Hermione?" He asks slowly. As soon as he says that, the crying stopped briefly.
"Who's there?" Came her shaking voice. Harry looked down, blaming himself for not stopping Ron.
"It's me. I—I mean me, y'know. Harry. Harry Potter." A gasp was all he heard for a few seconds.
"Go away! Besides, it's the Gir-"
"I'm sorry!" Harry stopped her before she could say anything else. "I should've stopped Ron from saying, well, what he said. I'm sorry."
Everything went silent for a while, and then, "It's alright… besides, you're not the one who's to blame…" He could feel his hands slowly shaking in rage. The way she sounded was one he knew very well.
"No, it's not all right! I should have said something!" He yelled at the door he was facing. On the other side, Hermione's eyes widened as she heard his outburst.
"I should've stopped him; I'm to blame as much as he is! Besides… Harry calmed himself as he took a deep breath. Even he knows he went too far. He said he was going to apologize…
He heard a click before the door in front of him slowly opened up. Hermione was looking at him with wet eyes. Almost at the same time, an unpleasant smell was spreading across the area.
"Really...?" You… He regrets what he said?" She asked him as he nodded. In a matter of seconds, Hermione jumped on him and hugged him firmly.
It was the first time someone hugged him, at least that he could remember. Now was not the time to think about it as he comforted the girl in his arms. As they stay in this position, the smell also grew
Until it was too much, "Urgh, what is this smell?" Hermione asks as she pinches her nose to block the smell.
"Maybe there's something wrong with the pipes?" Harry wondered if he could remember how his relative had a similar problem once.
Not wanting to stay there, the two young students decided to leave the bathroom.
As soon as they were near the entrance, it blew up as a wooden club literally destroyed the wall and the door. Harry was literally sent flying to the opposite wall because of the brutal way the wooden club came.
As he was laying down the wall, he could see his view starting to become blurry. «-Ry! Ha-» Great, now even his hearing was starting to go away. He could vaguely see something brown on his side, Hermione? He could feel something wet on his head. He put a hand on his own head and looked at it.
'Red?' he asked himself. Was it blood? Well, it certainly makes sense. In any case, something blurry appeared in front of him. Something really tall and… green? Before he could question what it was, Harry barely heard a scream followed by darkness.
"-Ry? Harry?" Someone was calling him? Harry was trying to stop his omnipresent headache as he stared at the red spot in front of him. "You alright there, mate?" He knew that voice! It was…
"Ron?" Harry'svision became clearer than before. «You alright? If you didn't want to play chess, then you should've said so, y'know. Ron pouted as he looked at him. Harry could only look at him with shock.
"What?" Harry asked softly, almost whispering it.
'What's going on? Wasn't I with Hermione… Hermione!'
"Hermione!" Harry yells as he stands up. He looked around and spotted her. Without thinking about it, he quickly went to see her.
"Hermione! You alright?!" Harry asked in panic. His yelling took everyone's attention. Hermione looked at him with confusion before answering as if unsure of it. "Yes…?" Harry sighs heavily as he looks at her again. She didn't look like she was crying, nor does she seem unhappy.
"Thanks, Merlin. I don't know what happened in the bathroom after I passed out, but I'm glad you're alright." He says as he looks at her with a little smile. However, Hermione wasn't smiling back. In fact, she looked… angry?
"What are you talking about? Did you follow me to the bathroom?" She asked him almost yelling. What was she talking about?
"What do you mean? I searched for you the entire day before finding you there. I apologize for some mean comment Ron said and then… And then… and then what...? Harry could remember everything up until the moment they were leaving. What was that green thing anyway?
As he focused back on reality, Harry saw her red face. But before either could say something, Ron came. "What are you talking about, mate? I don't even know her. At least not to the point of saying stuff behind her back. Plus it would be kind of a dick move." Now Harry was looking at him with disbelief. Was he trying to deny it? What am I talking about? What are you talking about?! Remember Flitwick's class? Now Ron was looking at him with confusion.
"How could we have Flitwick yet? We don't even have him until at least Thursday. Harry raised an eyebrow at that. What? "I guess this first day of school took too much on you, mate." First day?
"Sorry… Hermione? Clearly Harry's just tired." Ron says as he looks at her. Hermione looked at them before nodding and going back to her readings.
"Come on, mate. Looks like you're tired. Go to sleep. Besides tomorrow we have Professor Snape. From what my brothers said, he's a nightmare." Why was Ron talking to him as if they didn't have Snape yet?
"That would be a…" One of the twins says as they get to them.
"…nice way to say it, Ronnikins," the other says as he winks at them.
"Don't worry, I'm sure…"
"…He's going to enjoy…"
"…Having new students…"
"…To terrorize!"
Ron groaned in his hands as the twins laughed at him. Meanwhile Harry was still feeling lost.
"Ron?" He called him softly. Ron looked at him as the twin left them.
"What do you mean by first day?"" he asked while staring at him.
"I meant like the first day of school? Like today is the 2nd of September, and tomorrow will be the 3rd?" Ron answers with confusion clear on his face.
"Oh." was the only answer of Harry. He didn't know how, but somehow Harry Potter went back in time.
To be continued.
I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I'll take every advice you have. Don't hesitate to review my story or just this chapter since it's the only one available right now.
Now for the update schedule. I'll try to do one chapter every two weeks. As I said before this is my first story and I feel like I need at least two weeks per chapter.
Also, if you see any spelling mistake. Don't hesitate to point it out for me. This story is also a way for me to work on my English.
Before anyone ask about the pairing. I don't know who I'll put Harry with. I love Hermione as his partner or at least I did for years. But now I also love the idea of Ginny being with him. Finally, even if people don't usually pair them together, Nymphadora Tonks. On that one I'm biased because she's my favorite character.
Anywayyyy, I hope you have a great day/night and I'll see you next time!
