CH I

As he dives deeper beneath the waves, he couldn't help but reminisce about the past decade of his life.

Ever since his emergence from the pit, most monsters had stopped hunting him, choosing to go for easier prey. The only monster still brave enough to come after him is the blasted Minotaur.

The Minotaurs' visit was the only constant in the last 5 years. It was as if the ugly hags upstairs intertwined their destinies, or maybe the beast has a bone to pick with children of the sea.

It was because of the Minotaur that he was kicked out of New Rome University 4 years ago. The beast rampaged through Camp Jupiter, taking the lives of many legionnaires just to get to him. It was the Minotaur that took his fiancée's life over four years ago. It was because of the Minotaur that he lost control and brought down the apartment, killing his mother, stepfather, and little sister 3 years ago.

It was because of the Minotaur that he sought out his estranged, violent sister to help him with control.

Whenever he fought the bullman, it seemed to get bigger, stronger, faster, and smarter than it was the previous time. The last time he fought it, a couple of months back, it was over thirty feet tall, as strong as Porphyrion, and annoyingly, as fast as lightning.

He managed to triumph, barely.

It was in that fight that he finally lost his trusty sword, Riptide. It was only thanks to his (at the time) latent healing/regenerative ability and the timely arrival of his godly stepmother that he survived.

Over the next several weeks, he learned to regenerate amputated limbs and familiarize himself with a new weapon, a sword/trident hybrid.

Percy didn't understand why Amphitrite was suddenly so accommodating and helpful. Sure, she was never openly hostile or hateful, but she never went out of her way to help him either.

When he tried talking to his father about it, he said some things about politics that completely went over his head. The only thing that stuck from that conversation is that she wants to set him up with one of Oceanus' daughters.

A sudden shift in the currents brought him back to the present.

Before him is a network of tunnels he's never seen before.

Percy can sense a hostile presence deep within the tunnels. The smart choice would have been to look for backup before venturing into what is likely a hostile territory.

And had it been on land, that's what he would've done, even if the demigods would only get in his way.

But there's not much that can match him underwater.

And so, for the second time in his life, Percy Jackson dived into the abyss...

AN: So, work has been hectic the past few months.

I know I promised to start this a couple of weeks ago, but life happens.

Be sure to leave a comment (no flames, please), your inputs may make me reconsider some scenarios, so be creative.

NEXT TIME: Mon 26th August, coincidentally, that's my birthday!
