So, this is my first time writing something like this, and actually making it public, so yeah, excuse the poor quality, I'm really trying here! Anything I could to improve on this will be greatly helpful. This is the Tale of Two Wastelands Courier 6/Lone Wanderer, so things will differ a bit!

Also this was inspired by Grocamol' "Redemption lies within", and JVarga' "Doom:A New Chapter", go give those a read!

It had been a year since the Courier, known throughout all the NCR as a hero, a walking legend, had helped lead the NCR to victory in the Second Battle of Hoover Dam. It had also been 5 years since the Courier, known only to his closest friends as "The Vault Dweller" had arrived in the Mojave, planning for a calm and…quiet life as a simple Courier. Things changed when Benny with his smug mug shot him in the forehead. A "victory" that led to him being assassinated in his own room. The Courier had killed Mr. House, simply because he was a threat to the NCR, but as well as to use the technology House had for a "simple" project the NCR had in mind. A truce was then concluded with the NCR and the Brotherhood of Steel in the Mojave, due to the Couriers' ties with the Eastern Division of the Brotherhood of Steel in D.C.

Things had been going great, Big MT was under the Couriers control, with all the salvageable technology being given over to the NCR, Elijah had died and the Courier took all the gold back to the NCR to assist in any way he could. Ulysses had been unfortunately killed, due to the less-than-needed speech skill of the Courier, although the nuke fortunately was sent to Caesar's Legion, who already in disarray with the death of Caesar and his entire camp, was going to disintegrate soon, a process that was sped up by the failure at Hoover Dam and the death of the Legate. The Courier was, after Hoover Dam, finally given the rank of "General" by President Kimball, and the "Star of Sierra Madre" medal for "outstanding dedication to the NCR and democracy and immeasurable bravery and humanity."

The "project" the NCR was working on, as insane as it was, was teleportation. Due to the salvaged technology from House and Big MT, as well as assistance from the Courier and the brightest minds in the NCR working on it, it was becoming a reality. A test date was set, with the Courier volunteering to become the first teleported man.

Of course this wasn't a popular idea, not because people didn't like the Courier, but because they didn't want to risk potentially losing him….a fear that was grounded.
The Courier walked in, as he nodded to a guard, which gave a shaky thumbs up. He was surrounded by great machines, with many, MANY, terminals nearby for easy access and due to the sheer number of scientists working on this. He went left, into a hallway, which he kept walking through for sometime, before he entered a room, lit up by fluorescent lights, as well as it being very clean, due to the circumstances.

Scientists were in hazmat suits, due to the potential for radiation, as well as a large container filled with RadAway packs being nearby. The big machine, the…teleportation device, it had a fancy name, but the Courier had no intention of memorizing it. The device was in the middle of this large room, taking up a big chunk of it, as he sat on a chair, waiting for the scientists to calibrate it, get the terminals up and running, and running the code too at that, just to make things as smooth as possible. A scientist came up to him, the Courier didn't know any of their names, nor could he see their face well through the hazmat helmet.

"Sir, are you….really sure you wanna do this? This is a…well." The scientist awkwardly chuckled mid sentence. "An early test, we don't really know what the hell we're doing, but yeah." He stared at the Courier apprehensively, as he said nothing behind his armored helmet.

He didn't really need to, as the scientist got the point. "Going to take that as a yes." The scientist sighed now. "We won't be able to get you back if this does work." The scientist wanted to tell him to be prepared, but there was no need for that, since the Courier was always armed and with a nice supply of chemicals.

Terminals booted up, code was run, machines powered on with switches and a variation of other things happened. The Courier stepped onto a platform in the middle, looking bored from his posture, as the scientists kept preparing. It took a while, but eventually, the test was ready. A great big switch was in the middle of the room, mainly for simplicity's sake, as a scientist ran up to it, grabbing the switch with his gloved hand, and flipped it. Electricity crackled around the machine the Courier was standing on, as he popped a pill of Buffout, just in case. That just in case was needed, as immediately afterwards, terminal screens blew out, machines malfunctioned and shut off, and a minor explosion came from where the Courier was standing.

Next the scientists knew, the Courier was no longer there, not even a trace. The machine was completely vaporized, with a small fire taking its place, although quickly extinguished. It took a while to calm some of the scientists down, but once THAT problem was taken care of, another one occured, something that made this project unrecoverable. The terminals that blew out also had their chips fried, so any code and data about the project was gone. The machines powering it were also fried. Pretty much anything in the surrounding rooms was fried, much to the great annoyance of those that didn't know what the hell was going on.

The worst news of all, was that the Courier, Hero of the NCR, was gone, no one knew where the hell he went, but only one person knew where he was, and it was the Courier himself.

The Courier woke up in what looked to be a…wheat field? The sky was blood-red color, with a…heavenly looking moon? Planet? It was unnerving. The Courier got up, dusting himself off, seeing absolutely nothing in sight, buildings, people, vehicles…nothing. He checked his Pip-Boy now, thankfully it wasn't fried, but the mapping found nothing. He had nothing to do, so with a sigh, he walked forward. He didn't know where he was gonna go, but it was better than doing nothing and waiting for whatever creatures were out there to eat him.
End of Chapter 1, bit short, but couldn't think of anything else.
