The Minecraft Story: The Beginning: Chapter 1
In the beginning, there was nothing, until two brothers emerged. Their names were Notch and Herobrine. It's unknown where they came from, but these brothers were Gods. Together, they formed a world made of blocks. Together, they created the water and the sky. Together, they created the animals. Together, they created the world of Minecraft.
The brothers were almost satisfied with their creation, but something was missing, something truly alive. The two brothers created humanity. A species of animals unlike all the rest. The humans could think, they could create, they could thrive in this world. For one hundred years, the brothers watched their creations come together and live in this peaceful world.
However, Herobrine became bored. He wanted to see more. He wanted conflict. He knew his brother Notch only wanted peace for the humans, so he went behind his brothers back to reform humanity to his liking. He gave humanity feelings of greed, malice, and hatred. He watched as humans devolved into war between their tribes. However, Herobrine wanted even more. He wanted monsters. Before Notch could realize, Herobrine created horrible monsters like the skeleton, the enderman, the creeper, and many more. These monsters would roam the night and attack any human they saw. Herobrine reveled at the sight.
It didn't take too long for Notch to realize what had happened to the world. At first, he tried to reason with his brother. He tried to convince him this isn't how their world should live. He reminded Herobrine that they made this world together and together, they could make it a haven for humanity. But Herobrine disagreed and the brothers began to fight. "The Clash of the Gods" was fought for three days before Herobrine couldn't fight anymore. Notch was exhausted from the battle and was ready to strike the final blow. But he couldn't do it, he couldn't kill his brother.
In that moment, Notch created two new realms, The Nether, and The End. Herobrine was banished to The Nether as punishment for his misdeeds, but not before removing his Godly powers and his monsters. Herobrine was reduced to a Demi-God, he cannot die from old age, but he can be killed if enough damage is dealt to him. Notch saw how Herobrine had become corrupted, and he worried for himself. He questioned if he would become corrupted as well. He took away his own Godly powers, hid the portal to The Nether, and stashed away both his and Herobrine's powers in the Ender Egg. The Ender Egg was placed in The End protected by the Ender Dragon.
Notch in his new, more human like form, hid away from humanity. Ashamed he didn't have the strength left to save humanity from their new feelings of anger and hatred. Notch remains hidden to this day and Herobrine continues his punishment in The Nether.

The Sermon reading was finished. Marcus stretched as he left the Church. In the morning sun he looked up. Feelings of hope swelled inside of him. Soon, he was going to be a Knight in the Order of Notch.
