Chapter 1 Encounter in the Forest

My name is Aphmau.

I was told that diaries are used to document moments in someone's life and how they felt when they happened. After hearing this, I became interested in writing in a diary myself.

The first moments of my life began when I woke up in the middle of a forest.

A young woman, wearing nothing but a white dress, was lying unconscious in the middle of a forrest. Slowly, she opened her eyes, sat up and took in her surroundings.

She did not recognise where she was, or had any recollection of how she had gotten there.

As she tried to make sense of what was going on, a sound snapped her out of her thoughts.

She looked up…and saw a wolf slowly approaching her. Her eyes widened and she froze in fear.

As I was trying to make sense of my surroundings, a scary looking creature suddenly started approaching me. When I saw it, I froze in fear, and could only watch as it got closer to me.

My life nearly ended as soon as it began. Luckily for me, someone arrived just in time.

After waiting for a moment, one of the wolves jumped at the woman! She closed her eyes and braced for its impact. But then, she heard the wolf let out a yelp in pain.

She opened her eyes, and saw the wolf knocked out on the ground…with a man hovering over it.

The wolf had been knocked out by a man. He was dressed completely in black. The only bit of colour on him came from a strange crest that was on the back of his cloak.

After he knocked the wolf out, the man turned to face the woman.

When the man turned to face me, I saw another bit of red in his outfit, which came from a bandana wrapped around his eyes.

After examining the woman for a moment, the man leaned down and held out his hand to her.

"You okay?"

The woman did not answer the man. She stared at his hand for a moment, before grabbing onto it and being pulled to her feet.

"We should find shelter", the man said. "Once it gets dark, this forrest will crawling with monsters."

...

The man and woman had taken shelter in a cave, and were sitting by a fire.

"So, you've got a name?"

For some reason, I couldn't recall my name. In fact, I couldn't recall anything about myself.

After trying, and failing, to remember her name, the woman shook her head.

"You don't have a name", the man asked in confusion, and the woman shook her head again. "Okay, where are you from?"

I didn't have an answer to this either.

"Do you have any family or friends? Do you know how you ended up in the forrest?"

This man had so many questions, but I didn't have any answers.

Unable to remember anything about herself, the woman shook her head once again.

"So I'm sitting here with a random woman who literally knows nothing about herself? Great."

After hearing this, the woman pulled her legs close to her torso. Then, she rubbed her arms as a breeze came from the cave entrance.

Seeing this, the man took off his cloak, and draped it over her shoulders. The woman then looked up at him, and was taken by surprise.

The man took his cloak off and gave it to me. Once he did, I saw something that had been hidden before. He had wolf ears and a tail. Just like the outfit he wore, they were black with a bit of red coming from their tips.

Taken by surprise, the woman stared at the man for a bit. Then, he awkwardly cleared his throat.

"It's getting late", he pointed out. "We should get some sleep. I'll figure out what to do in the morning."

With this, the man laid down, and turned his back to the woman. She stared at him for a moment, before turning to face away from him as well.

I was about to go to sleep, but then, I remembered something.

Remembering something, the woman turned her body to face the man.

"Do you have a name?"

Hearing this took the man by surprise. Then, he turned around to face the woman. After looking at her for a bit, he gave her an answer.

"Aaron. My name is Aaron."

After saying this, the man (who was named Aaron) turned his back to the woman again. She turned around too. Then, after letting out a sigh, she closed her eyes, and drifted off to sleep.

That is how my life began. And that is how I met Aaron.
